My brother's been renting a unit located at 8200 Balboa Blvd for many years. The staff has always been wonderful recently encountered a woman named Somer who was so helpful, I also spoke to a gentleman named Wilson today who was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions gracefully. As we will be vacating soon, I would recommend this storage facility to anyone . It's safe, secure & very clean. How they have 4 out of 5 stars???? The facility is so run down!!! 2nd floor is horrible! The floors are so old, you can feel it giving out under you and surprised nobody has falling through yet. Dark lighting just feels so dingy and old. Let's not get me started on their hours of operations: arrived at 10am, office closed! Nobody there when hours advertised 6am to 6pm.. And gate hours till 6pm... what about people that need to come after hours? Why not give access till 10pm? Also, once we entered on a different day around noon, nobody to be found anywhere. No carts by elevators, we checked 3 different elevators, NO carts anywhere! Also no cars parked, so who is using all the carts? This location needs to be renovated or torn down. I had an extremely disappointing experience with this Public Storage location. I spoke to an employee named Somer who was unbelievably rude and unprofessional. Not only did she raise her voice at me over the phone, but she also made false claims and even went as far as to threaten to terminate our rental -- completely uncalled for and unacceptable behavior also hung up on me mid conversation couldn't even get a word through I reached out for help and instead was met with hostility and intimidation. There's no reason a paying customer should be treated this way. If this is how they choose to handle concerns, I'd strongly suggest looking elsewhere for storage. Basic respect and communication should not be too much to ask. read more

Elevator broken for Months. Interior doors locked so that you can't even go up the stairs in your section. Carts literally chained to the floor so that you have to drag your items 1 by 1 all the way across the facility to your vehicle. I strongly advise against using Public Storage unless you absolutely have no other choice. I rented a small 5'x10' unit on the second floor. It was a hassle to move my stuff around because there were hardly any carts available. And when I did manage to find one, it was a mess - only two wheels worked, making it a pain to push without crashing into walls and other units. Trying to talk to someone from Public Storage about any issues or questions is impossible. Out of the ten times I called about my payments, only once did I actually get through to someone. And even then, they couldn't help me without hanging up to call their manager and calling me back later. There's no other way customer support there is only the on-site manager. Their office hours are listed as 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM, but they close much earlier than that. I'd strongly suggest looking into other storage options to avoid the headaches I had to deal with at Public Storage. read more

This Facility is one of the friendliest and cleanest storage facility I have ever experienced, dust free, and the cinder block construction combined with plenty of ventilation fans above keep this location cool in the summer! It almost feels like it is air conditioned! They have plenty of carts (all in good shape) available without having to leave your drivers license to get a key! The elevators are large enough to hold two carts and are tall. The staff is friendly and professional, Whether it's jovial Tyler, behind the counter, property mgr. Jose or regional mgr. Kim, all are all super courteous and professorial and always endeavor to address your questions and concerns! The access access hours are good as you can access your storage as early as 6 AM -6 pm weekdays and the property is completely safe and secure and the restroom is CLEAN! I have been sign up lease contract with them few years ago. Company adjusted my rate for 15% every six month. My opinion they don't care about long term client - just making money on us! Very unprofessional manager. She is the worst, I have been a public storage customer for over 3 years in 4 different locations no one is like her. When I first rented out a unit in the office, one of the tenant offered her a Starbucks drink (which is not a problem) but when I got my unite I parked in front of my space to unload the truck. She came to me and said I am blocking the entrance and need to move my truck away at the same time where they guy who offered her a Starbucks drink is parking exactly the same way I am parking and she never say a word to him. We have been their customer for about six months and every month they raise the price. Before August 1st we gave a note that we were leaving and because of their poor communication skills that month they still charged us when their was no more items left in the storage space. Two months after our note they still charged us plus another 110 dollars for a late fee. We wanted to talk to the manager but he would tell us to call the headquarters and the headquarters told us to call the manager, we forcefully had to pay because we never ended up fixing the problem. I would strongly recommend to not go to this storage because of their horrible communication and bad service. They will overcharge you so do not go here. read more

Everyone at this public storage is great! The customer service went above my expectations. I hadn't realized that my payments weren't on an automatic payment plan. One of the associates from this storage called me to let me know it was my last day of the grace period before a late fee were to be instated. They helped process my payment on time and set up a move-out date. Thank you so much! The only reason for the 4 out of 5 is because the storage spaces themselves do not have A/C. It gets really hot. What they dont tell you is you have to buy a lock for about $28 or something (i'll have to check my bill) i cant remember and insurance starting at $11...so u end up paying 61.xx. then if you want to stay another month its $178...WHAT THE HELL...ITS LIKE THEY BACK CHARGE FOR THE $23 DEAL...BEWARE.. So on Saturday, my boyfriend and I decided to rent a storage space due to us not having enough space now that we are moving into a 1 bedroom apartment together. We first went to the Public Storage just down the street, and we were not very impressed. The units were a little dumpy, and rundown. Not at all what we wanted. And Vicky a worker who was helping out at that site mentioned that they had one unit available at her normal site just down the street. We went to go check it out, and this site was 100% better. It had such a good vibe. The entire complex was so clean, and the unit was perfect. We decided to rent it on the spot. We were even given a great price. We also witnessed a current renter having a complete tantrum. She was so rude, obnoxious, and yelling profanities and insults. She made a huge scene, which I thought was embarrassing. The manager kept her cool, and handled the situation very professionally. I was impressed. Not everyone can handle a situation that calmly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking. The staff is very friendly, and respectful. The site is also very clean and secure. I'm very happy with our decision. read more
