Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 1314 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX I have rented a unit at this Public Storage location on Austin Hwy & Vandiver for a year. I loved that my unit had two access doors--one in the "font" and one in the "back". On particularly hot days when I had to retrieve something, I would open both doors for a cross breeze. The on-site manager, Paul has been incredibly wonderful. He is cheerful, professional and kind. The access to Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills & Oakwell Farms makes the a perfect location. If I was Public Storage management, I would give Paul a raise! read more

1. No posted business hours-I went there to get a key because they changed all the doors and locks on the units-which is a welcome improvement, but not when you end up locked out because they're never around to give you a key. Ended up going there three times and set an appointment for the third trip and still had to wait 30 minutes and make a phone call to get someone there. No apologies and the guy acted like it was just the best day ever. 2. Finally got a key, but it doesn't open the unit! Of course the person who came to give me the key was already gone before I made it back to the office. 3. Automated offsite calling system is NOT customer service! Can't really say the actual human beings were much help either, but listening to the same recording doesn't help with anything. 4. It is time to buy a shed! The company will start to raise your rates by over 30% starting within three months after you rent. Both of my spaces were given a rate increase within weeks of each other. One was returned to the original rate for another three months and the other was not. This is not a good company if you are renting long term. read more

Do not use this location !!! The property manager here has zero customer service skills and patience. She hid information from the customer and did not respect the agreement made with corporate. She had poor communication skills and the way she acted shows she definitely brought personal issues to the place consistently. When I presented an issue I experienced to her, she acted out and became very rude and defensive. It was very childish. She hung up the phone on me because she was obviously frustrated that I was not going to let her act in such a poorly manner to her customers. I called back because the issue was still not resolved and she continued to not work through the problem and hung up once again. This has happened to me every time I've had to communicate with her in the past month. This woman does not know how to be a professional and value her customers. I ended up contacting the district manager and he solved my problem within one call. That shows me she obviously just did not want to help. 0/10 read more

There's a big gaping hole where thieves cut the fence and the breach of security was never attended to, leaving the property unsecured. Second break-in in 2 weeks. Management takes NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR SECURING THE PROPERTY. No cameras because the property is "too small". They require you to buy their own locks which are not secure. Sounds like a scam. How many times do break-ins have to occur before they wake up to their responsibility? read more

About three weeks ago I reserved a small unit here. Jessica helped me with all the details and explained everything to me very clearly. She said to call her if I had any more questions. Excellent customer service. Today was moving day but last evening I found out that my house needed more work before I could move in. I panicked because now I needed a larger unit to keep all my stuff. I left a pretty desperate voicemail and Tamara called me back within 15 minutes. She was very professional and immediately she found a larger unit for me. Today she did not go on her lunch break until I got there (about 3pm!!) to show me the new unit and to be sure that I didn't have any questions. She was so sweet! Excellent service!!!! Public Storage agent insisted me to come by early in the week to sign paperwork. I figured why not. Went there expecting one thing, and came out with another! The lady (works as a fill-in there, not permanent staff) kept upselling me on everything like a sales person. She stated I had to buy their $21 lock, (even though I had the same lock from my previous Public Storage move). She said I need to secure the storage now, but there were other storages with different locks! Then she said I had to get insurance from them, and afterwards suggested wrapping paper and other supplies. I kept saying no, no, no..I'm here for storage only. Then she pulled out paperwork to sign, I stopped to question her why I NEED to use their insurance if I have USAA to cover..she was beating around the bush and wasn't giving me a straight answer...but she eventually said I can use USAA and refuse theirs. When I was reading the contract, I asked her the proration rate on my move date. She stated my lease/charge starts today. I told her I'm not in a hurry to sign my lease, and I can come back another day. I ONLY came by to sign the lease, because they strongly suggested it. I told her if I'm gonna pay for storage now and not use it, I might as well come the day before or day of the move. She tried to pull "it's a temporary deal, won't last" crap. I immediately started losing trust in her and I didn't want to proceed on with the contract. However, she already swiped my credit card and told me I can't get my refund on the insurance or proration now. Mind you, I didn't even sign the contract yet, we were only a couple pages in. I told her why such a hurry, because I only live 5 minutes (2.5 miles) from the storage place. I don't see why I can't come back later! She said I can't give you a refund, sorry. I was so livid and told her to call the manager. She did, but it was like pulling teeth. She blurted, "you're the only person that's ever done this." After going back and forth on the phone, the district manager agreed to refund my insurance and proration. I wanted to tell her I'll come back with my lock too and save $21, but I felt so guilty already and it'll just exacerbate the problem/mess. I signed the damn contract, while she tried to make small talk about her personal life. At this point, I have no interest in listening to her, and honestly it's inappropriate timing at this point. Then she asked if I have a credit card available to setup automatic payments... that lady is so shady and phony, I would NOT trust her with any of my credit card information! I said, NO! I spent over an hour there, and I just want to get out of that place. I felt like she "bended" the truth to up-sell me. She must get paid to up-sell storage and supplies, or else she wouldn't be this aggressive. Oddly enough, I walked out of there feeling SCAMMED...lol right? ...at a storage unit place?! Lol In the beginning I was thinking she's just trying to do her job and let me know of the offers...but after a while, it just got weird. I questioned her statements and she fumbles/fidgets, it was just bizarre. The whole experience was just odd. I kept thinking 'what's in it for you?' Absolutely terrible. Stay away from that place! I was so bothered by her that I called/left a voice message on the district manager's phone. At this point it's not just about the money, it's about the principal! Some mindless to-do list/task today turned to be anything but that! I mean come on, be straight forward...because that's the first thing that can lose a customer's trust towards a company. read more
