Actually the worst experience I've had. I rented a unit that wouldn't even open because it was completely rusted shut. I had to report the issue multiple times before a property manager came out. Even with WD-40, she couldn't open it. I was told I'd need to transfer to a different unit. I agreed--as long as there was no extra charge, since the issue wasn't my fault. Then I was told it would cost an additional $86 to transfer. That's unacceptable. I paid for a unit I couldn't even use, wasn't allowed to check it beforehand, and now I'm being asked to pay more? I asked for either a free upgrade or a refund. Instead, I was told there's a non-refundable $20 fee, and I won't be getting that back either. Overall, this was a frustrating experience and a waste of time. I'll be contacting my bank about the charge. read more

Public Storage - Self Storage Near Me - Reno, Nevada

Over the last 1 1/2 years our storage unit has gone up in price ever quarter. the original price was $225 a month. Our rent was raised incrementally to $380month. I thought maybe this was inflation but you can top and rent the same unit today for $225 today if you are new customer. Probably with a move in discount as well. Of course when you call you only get call centers that dont even seem to be part of this company. When I complained to the call center they said they would submit the request to the company and PS would get back to me. They never called or emailed me with the change in pricing. I just noticed my next bill went to $340. To be clear that is still $120 over the current advertised price. It's an interesting policy to charge your long time customers more than new. Whatever there are cheaper and bigger units available all around Reno. Avoid this company at all costs. I've rented many storage units in different states from public storage over the years. The changes to no having people at the properties and not being able to contact someone directly have gone too extreme. Zero customer service. Even the old office says "Talk to a person inside" and you go in and its a giant iPad like kiosk. On a side not the units are incredibly dirty due to the way the roof is open 1/3 from the back for ventilation. so much dirt inside. And the whole things on a slope that makes it hard to park and load and unload trailers. Avoid at all costs! read more

Unit is fine...was clean when I moved in and haven't had any issues...my only problem is that they keep raising my rates dramatically without notice...and I'm not talking about the introductory period of a few months when u first move in...however, that was a shocker too...I was paying $144 a month in 2023 for 6 months to a year...then it jumped all of the sudden to $191 a month for 6-9 months...now they are charging me $247 a month...all for the same unit! I'm tired of this and moving out! That's over $100 more per month in a year!!!! Ridiculous!!! read more

For UNR STUDENTS AND PARENTS!! This review has taken me a long time to finally write, but I have to describe my situation so that future problems with this storage company don't continue. This review is primarily going to be made out for COLLEGE STUDENTS, as I needed storage for the summer following my first year at UNR. I wanted to get storage early before school ended so that way I wasn't forced to quickly move all of my belongings. I had mentioned to the employee working at the front desk that I wanted to move in my belongings at a later date since school hadn't ended by the time I had rented the storage unit. I chose a 5x5 unit and stated that I planned on moving in come May after the semester had ended, and I leased the unit a couple weeks prior in April. I submitted a payment covering the rest of the month. Once May started, I received an email that my storage unit was vacated. I called Public Storage and explained the situation, and told them that I was vacated and that I didn't have any outstanding balance on my account, so in summary I basically got kicked out of the unit. I understood that there was a miscommunication, which is not anything out of the ordinary, but I wanted to make sure that I could rely on the storage company that would be keeping my things, so I politely told them that I decided to go to another company, and I requested a refund for the amount I paid towards the unit I wasn't able to use. A couple days later, I thought that everything was supposedly resolved. I received another charge on my account for the unit that I was vacated from. I called again, and they "got it under control". At this point, I was owed about $60-$65. Fast forward to late May, I hadn't received any refund, so I called again. They said that it was being processed by the company. I wasn't worried. I called every week that followed, and I kept receiving the same assurances that I would receive the refund soon. I asked why they couldn't just refund it into my balance, as they clearly had access to my card. They said they were sending a check, which wasn't a big deal. The problem was, was that they stated that the shipping for the check took 4-6 weeks to arrive, and when I finally received my check at the end of June, it came out to $45.06. The amount credited to me wasn't even the correct amount that they owed. I had wasted my time talking with them about it for months just to get a fraction of what was owed. If you plan on moving your things into this storage company, don't. Or make sure that you move your stuff in the day of purchase so you don't have to go through months of agony for a disappointing attempt at a refund. read more

This facility is run by a manager that has the WORST customer service. I don't know how long Adriana has been there but she does not know how to treat customers. She had an employee quote me one price and then my bill was over twice as much. The day I got my bill, I called and tried to have them help me figure it out. The one gal remembered quoting me the lower price but couldn't remember why. I spent the next two weeks on the phone with several people trying to figure it out, all the while letting them know that I was worried about late charges. This went on long enough that I was eventually assessed late charges, locked out of our unit, and a lien placed on the unit. When I called Adriana about it, I asked her to take the late charges off to then have her hang up on me. I called customer services and they were eventually able to take the late charges off and I ended up still paying the bill that was more then twice the amount I was quoted. Luckily, we were able to get out things out but will NEVER use this facility again. More training is needed for both the employee and manager. read more

The Rental - part 1 Today's date: 03.04.2017 Today's time: 18:12hrs. This is part one of a my review of the public storage facility located at: 1295 Selmi Dr Reno, NV 89512 United States We are going to do this in parts as I feel it will give an overall and just review. Parking area for the faculty is sparse, however is quickly made up for as the grounds are completely litter free and dirt free. Upon entering the facilities office I was greeted by 2 gentleman whom were very polite and helpful. I looked like crap, hadn't slept in 2 days from all the packing and moving I needed to do. In any case, I personally felt I had to have looked rather ratchet, business was conduct in the upmost professionalism; met and greeted with a firm handshake and a wee bit of could be described as a smile. The office to the facility was exceptionally clean and orderly, almost border line OCD, I apologize ahead for the statement, it was the best description I could pull from my weary mind at the time of writing this review. Next, we took a tour of the facility up to my proposed unit, a 10x15 at a remarkable introductory price AND continued monthly price that followed. Again, the facility is outstandingly immaculate. I assumed the location was built about a year ago, I was corrected and shocked to find out the property was much older. Everything looked brand new! We went back to the office, no pressure to make extra purchases or extra deposits, which was cool. The paperwork took approximately 8 minutes, the directions and explanation was clearly stated and above all, the degree of professionalism on first impression is impressive. Now don't just go on my review, as I stated before, this is only day one. From the other reviews, I saw none of what your negative reviews had to say, NOTHING. I'll be coming back in 15 days and I will write another review or add to this one. Good luck in your moving adventure, I know mine was going to be dreadful, however, today was a good day. Arrived late in the afternoon, right near closing time. Georgia helped us and was as nice as can be. Checked us in quickly, took us to see the unit, gave us our gate access codes and we were good to go. Roger, the manager, called me a few days later to check on how everything went. Very nice of him to follow up. turns out I'll be needing another unit and he has assured me I'll have on when I arrive. I'll use this facility whenever I need some extra storage space! read more

I had a lady named Sarah call me regarding me listed as an emergency contact for someone I am estranged from. I told them that, and they said it was for billing and I needed to call them asap, regardless of me not having contact with that person. An emergency contact is when someone is in danger or injured, not for billing. She then called back and said "if you don't want to be contacted then have so and so call us immediately". THEN 2 weeks later, they called me on a PRIVATE UNKNOWN NUMBER and proceeded to still leave a voicemail. What a joke! Don't recommend at all considering their staff, especially Sarah, doesn't know basic customer service. read more

Kelly and Lacey, the Public Storage girls in the front office were awesome, friendly, and gave me a wonderful experience. The only way I would ding Public Storage is that I would tell any friend or relative to NOT purchase insurance from Public Storage. In retrospect, I believe Public Storage has a policy to push insurance. At their "insistence", I took the $11 policy but found out the same day that our personal homeowner's policy does cover the storage. Since Public Storage said I had to appear in person to sign off on this, it took three days - for which we were charged 2/3 of the $11 (not a proportional amount for the 30 days it was supposed to cover). I can imagine that with 2,200 facilities around the globe and each having 100-200 spaces that their policy of pushing customers to take their insurance reaps huge sums for Public Storage while very few customers take the time or trouble to complain about $11. Personally, I resent this and consider it one more large corporation marketing scheme. read more

When we moved in the price was reasonable ($150-ish per month for a 12x25 foot unit). Here we are 2.5 ish years later and we're paying just over $300 a month, and being harassed by the on-site manager constantly. The manager is upset because 2 years ago she hit on me, I politely avoided her advances, and all was ok till she met my fiancé while we were at our storage less than a week later. Fast forward to a month ago, the manager and her employee/lackey cruise up on the golf cart (she literally never walks) while "checking locks", she told me she would be "looking into getting us evicted, because we come to our storage too often". Are you kidding me? I pay over $300 bucks a month and I'm not allowed to be at the storage unit during hours!? What a nasty place this has been, and it makes public storage look bad as a whole, all because their manager has a personal vendetta against me, and for such a stupid reason at that. read more

I was bummed because the online reservation system said the 10x15 was available, but it wasn't. That's not the local facility's fault, that's the system's fault. But Georgia found me a good 10x10 and was so nice. I was compelled to tell my boyfrend about my lovely experience with Georgia and at the clean facility. I read some of the bad reviews and definitely did not have a similar experience with the local property. There may be some issues at corporate, but that's a different yelp post all together. read more

Very helpful staff, especially Roger. We forgot to close our account on the day we moved and our automatic payment went through for the next month. The staff was super easy to work with to get our money refunded, no hassle at all. I don't know much about rates on storage units but these seemed comparable to everything else we looked at and it was very last minute (we had no idea when we would be arriving in Reno), and it was simple. We paid for a full month but we were moved out early and when I asked the lady if we would get a refund for moving out early she was rude and said NO we don't do that here. This is the worst storage unit I've experienced. The interior walls of the units do not reach all the way to the ceiling so everything became excessively dusty. Monthly rental prices seem higher than other facilities in the area. When I was moving out, I had some broken glass that I didn't want to leave sitting in the driveway so I asked them if I could throw it away and the answer was absolutely not. I get that they don't want people throwing away furniture or items that have to be hauled but this seemed ridiculous. I recommend looking elsewhere for your storage needs. read more

This place maybe clean,however Roger attitude upon departure of our unit was extremely rude and very unprofessional, and we left our unit 7 days prior to end of the month and didn't get a refund back on remaining days which is bull crap. There was a unit that looked to be broken into. Then I received 2 emails thanking me for renting it was a lease agreement so I called to make sure i was out of the system and I was not going to be charged, well I dealt with Georgetta on phone she too was rude. Classic bait and switch tactics. Shame on the employees at the selmi drive location. They competed for my business, gave me a good rate, waited till I moved in, and then increase my rate 25%. The employees are trained liars and don't give a crap about the residents of Reno. When confronted they replied with their B.S. trained dialogue "its a corporate thing." I have used this storage place twice and have been really happy both times. Public Storage has great customer service in general, but the property manager and staff here are really awesome. They answered all my questions and made check in and out really easy. I booked both my units online, but they do let you change it if you go there and realize it's not a good size for you. Ending my lease was no problem as they work month to month. Super clean, safe, gated, and everyone with a unit has their own code to get in. Definitely recommend if looking for storage in the area! read more

worst company ever to deal with. manager is always out of the office during business hours. good luck on getting a live customer service rep on the phone, and if they take you payment there is a 20 dollar fee, with the automated service, they charge you a 10 dollar fee to pay your bill. customer service will hang up on you while you are trying to give them a complaint. this company will Nicole and dime you to death all the while spitting in your face. I have never had any of these issues in the past renting storage or trying to give a company money as I have had with this company. stay away! read more
