We stored household furnishing at the 6441 Westgate Road location for 3 months due to construction delays. When we picked up our items, things had water stains and/or were still wet. Items were covered with mouse droppings and cockroach droppings. We opened everything in the driveway of our new home because they were infested with roaches. We washed/sanitized the things that were washable before bringing them indoors but many items went straight into the builder's dumpster. When I closed my account, I went back to the unit and took photos of the wet floor and all the mouse/roach droppings. Totally disgusting. read more

Just terrible. Prices used to be reasonable but now it's completely remote operated so you have to pay for all the remote access BS. I think my rent quadrupled on a 5x15 storage room over the course of 3 years. read more

Absolutely terrible. They gouge prices here and try to force you out. I started with a huge unit less than two years ago for $400 and they've increased rent to $678. There's never anybody there to help and it's next to impossible to get a trailer in and out of there. Stay away if you value your money. read more

Poor customer service. Very hard to get in touch with people since this location doesn't have anyone on site. You will have to go to another facility ( not all have people on site). I'd suggest to find a locally owned facility much better service! read more

jennifer in the office is very helpful, the app works very smoothly for entering and exiting, the property is clean and it's easy to move into an exterior unit. However it will be humid so we'll have to put our stuf in tubs and keep it off the floor, and probably will roach-bomb it before moving anything out. This will make interim moves much easier. PS locations are all very convenient, and arranging it all online was easier and more affordable! read more

Antonio is great, super friendly and helpful. That being said, this property is the pits. The lights were out near our unit inside and outside. We were "strongly advised" to buy Damp Rid mildew and mold drying crystals upon move-in and saw why after a rainstorm with water collecting all over the property. Did not feel safe going at dark. The times we went to unload items, the office was closed and locked and no one was found on site to help a line of cars get in the gate. We tried calling and ended up having to look up initial documents on our phones to locate a very long and complicated gate code (as opposed to other locations which offer personal codes so you can get in or let others coming with you access without such a production). Needless to say, we are moving out as fast as we moved in after a short stay into another storage center. Of course, in trying to move out, could not find anyone onsite to close out paperwork or anyone to answer phone to confirm move out, so we had to install the PS app in order to move out and email our confirmation and follow that up with a call to the main office to actually reach a person. We aren't looking for handholding, but definitely appreciate the security, maintenance and available help when needed at the other companies. read more

First off I would love to say that these people are never in the office. EVER!!! They never answer the phone or return your calls when you leave a voicemail. Customer service is a pile of BS because no one can seem to do their job and answer your questions. When you call corporate they still give you the same run around. I went to the storage yesterday and today and both days they are CLOSED for no reason. I would also love to add that I feel like they deliberately keep the offices closed to force people to use online services which also suck, just like this company. Also charging people an extraordinary amount of money to pay over the phone which they never answer because no on is ever in the office. So because they are closed I can't close my account and get my stuff because they put a cover lock on my unit when I HAVE A ZERO BALANCE ON MY ACCOUNT WHICH MEANS THERE IS NO FUCKING REASON WHY THERE NEEDS TO BE A COVER LOCK ON MY UNIT!!!! I don't know how your company is in business when you clearly can't even run it appropriately. I sure hope #Publicshitstorage see's this. I checked out a large assortment of different storage options when I was researching. Actually had a reservation at another property but when I walked through the door, was told it would be a 45 minute wait just to get my space after I had filled out the online forms, etc. I quickly reached out to Kim at this Public Storage and am glad that I did. She allowed me to come in right away and got me all set up. She was extremely professional and answered all of my inquiries. Kim walked me to my space and it was clean and in decent shape. She showed me the ins and outs of the gate and property. All in all, I was pleased with my experience at this location and would highly recommend it. read more

The good: Was greeted by Kim who was very knowledgeable and helpful for having only been working at that location a few days. She showed me a few units and I was able to select one and fill out the paperwork promptly. Facility seemed secure. Frustrating: I was told that all locks have to be a shrouded disk padlock. This was not conveyed when I originally reserved the unit and I had already purchased a different kind of lock for the unit. This should be conveyed up front upon reservation of a unit. read more

Public Storage came through for me in a big way as i am moving my brother from New Jersey to North Carolina and I needed to finalize his reservation. The lady Kim who was working in the office was courteous and very timely in her work. She showed me the storage space and the locks. She made sure that whatever i nneded was available. She asked what type of furniture was going to be stored ,in order to make sure that the space was large enough. She checked for specials in order to save money. This past weekend was my first time ever having to obtain storage. I was lucky enough to work with Kim. She is amazing! She was so friendly and helpful. She answered all of my questions and gave me lots of helpful tips since this was my first time renting a storage unit. It turns out that the size the call center recommended was not large enough and Kim was nice enough to let me see a larger size so I was able to upgrade before I went through the hassle of beginning to unload my belongings and then seeing that the size was not large enough. I came into this public storage sometime last week in search of prices on paking supplies. My fiancee and I are moving into the area. The very nice young lady named Tiffany was very helpful. She was very knowledgable in the benefits of packing with your supplies. She then went above and beyond to ask me about storing my items to give me extra room to unpack my things. I reserved my unit online because I was moving from out of state and I quickly got a response from the manager confirming my unit and move in information. When I went into the office I was able to to sign all my paperwork and get a tour. Kim explained everything and answered all of my questions. She was especially helpful when my movers came in a truck that was too big to maneuver the property and allowed the movers to take my stuff in through an alternate entrance. I initially called a few storage places before making a decision on where I wanted to keep my furniture during a move. I'll admit - I got sucked in my Public Storage's low first month rates (I was only hoping to rent for a month and wasn't bothered by the fact that their normal non-first-month rates are at least $10-$30 higher than neighboring storage facilities) and shrugged off the hidden administration fee when I made a reservation over the phone for a specific unit size. I then called a nearby Uhaul rental facility to reserve a truck for that day as well (since Public Storage does not provide a courtesy moving truck like other facilities in the area do). I arrived at Public Storage at my appointed reservation time. After a short wait for the office staff to get off the phone I was taken back to the unit to check it out. This is where the problems started. First off, one of the gates of the facility was described as "Oh - that one is broken". Secondly, we walked up and down the aisles of storage units to find the unit I had reserved. The manager who was helping us could not seem to find it; apparently it did not exist. She said, "Wait here, I'll be right back" and walked back to the office - leaving me and my friend standing in the middle of an outdoor storage facility with no idea what was going on. She came back and said she had the number wrong - off by one. So we proceed to walk to the "correct" unit. This had a lock on it - indicating that it was being rented by another tenant. Again we were left to wait in the middle of the facility while she went back to the office to find out where the mistake was. After standing there for about 15 minutes she returned with a sheepish grin and finally managed to find a unit in the size I had reserved that was available. I was thoroughly unimpressed when she opened the unit door; The walls looked to be made of drywall with tape along the seams and my unit had three fist sized holes in the back wall, the floor was dusty and dirty and needed a good sweeping, and there was a broken lock on the floor inside of the unit door. After being assured that it would be swept while we got our things to move in I figured that it would have to do - I was running late for my Uhaul pick up time as it was. We proceeded back to the office where I was prepared to pay $21 plus tax ($1 for the first month and a $20 administration fee). I was then hit with a fee for the lock AND I was told that I would have to pay for insurance on the unit (which is mandatory with Public Storage though I am not sure why) - bringing the total closer to $45. That was the last straw - a disorganized staff, unsafe looking unit, broken equipment, and hidden fees are NOT something I am comfortable with. I explained to the office staff that I was no longer interested and left. I called Uhaul to cancel my reservation on the truck and went over to Cardinal Storage (they were everything that Public Storage was not - safe, professional, helpful, and all around great) and paid around $50 for my first month's rent PLUS a moving truck was provided for me to move in - saving me the $50 I would have spent at Uhaul. I would NOT recommend Public Storage! Go elsewhere!! read more
