The onsite employee who was supposed to meet to complete paperwork and provide access to new unit did not show. There were no other employees in the office! The movers arrived, loaded up contents and had to wait about an hour to access the new unit and then go back haul away the excess items. This added to my costs! Multiple customers gathered outside the closed office due to access problems in other buildings. No one knew how to contact the company for help. People called around to other offices for help. Apparently there are no online instructions and no alternative numbers for customer onsite issues when the office is not staffed during regular business hours. Eventually an employee from a different office arrived. Javon is to be commended for keeping her calm while she dealt with multiple dissatisfied customers! However, this company should have a communication plan that is obvious and accessible to customers for a very foreseeable event.

When I reported it to the office, they assured me it would be taken care of. Two weeks later, it was still there. Security is also a major concern. I have visited multiple times, both during and after office hours, and found the side door unlocked. Homeless individuals frequently enter and exit the building without restriction. My unit was broken into, and I wasn't notified until two days later. The reason? Staff claimed they only noticed during their rounds after the weekend--meaning they had no idea when it actually happened. Their response? "I think you should file a police report and contact your insurance company." You think? Frustrated, I canceled my unit and moved my belongings out well before the next billing cycle. I was repeatedly told I would receive a confirmation of cancellation--yet it never happened. Avoid this place at all costs. If you don't believe me, visit after hours and see for yourself. Terrible security, terrible customer service, and a terrible place to store your valuables.

I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience with the U-Haul location in Garner, North…read moreCarolina, was so frustrating that I feel obligated to warn others. Renting a truck should be one of the simplest parts of moving, yet this location managed to turn it into an unnecessarily stressful ordeal through poor customer service, disorganization, and an attitude that made it seem like helping customers was an inconvenience. The biggest issue was simply trying to schedule a rental. What should have been a straightforward process became a series of unanswered questions, inconsistent information, and unnecessary delays. Communication was either nonexistent or so vague that it left me with no confidence that my reservation was actually being handled correctly. Every interaction felt like I had to chase down basic information instead of receiving proactive assistance. When I did manage to speak with employees, the customer service was disappointing from start to finish. Rather than treating customers with courtesy and professionalism, the staff often came across as indifferent, dismissive, and uninterested in resolving problems. Instead of listening to concerns or offering solutions, the attitude seemed to be, "That's just the way it is." There was little sense of urgency, empathy, or accountability, even though renting moving equipment is often part of an already stressful day. What made the experience even worse was the apparent lack of organization. Scheduling seemed chaotic, and no one appeared to have clear answers about availability or timing. I was left feeling like I couldn't rely on the information I was being given, which is the last thing anyone needs when trying to coordinate a move. A business built around logistics should excel at organization, but this location fell far short of that expectation. Customer service is about more than simply handing someone a set of keys. It's about communicating clearly, treating people with respect, and taking ownership when problems arise. Unfortunately, none of those qualities were evident during my experience. Instead, I encountered excuses, poor communication, and an overall lack of professionalism that reflected poorly on the business. Perhaps the most disappointing part was the attitude displayed throughout the process. Mistakes and scheduling problems can happen anywhere. What separates a good business from a bad one is how those problems are handled. Here, it felt like customer concerns were brushed aside rather than addressed. I never got the impression that anyone genuinely cared whether my experience was positive or negative. Moving is stressful enough without having to fight for basic customer service. I expected reliability, clear communication, and a willingness to help. Instead, I was met with confusion, poor scheduling, and an indifferent attitude that made the entire experience far more difficult than it needed to be. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend the U-Haul location in Garner, North Carolina. There are too many other businesses that understand the importance of treating customers with respect and delivering on their commitments. Until this location significantly improves its customer service, scheduling process, and overall professionalism, I would strongly encourage others to consider alternative moving truck rental options.

DO NOT SIGN UNTIL YOU READ!!!! Absolutely one of the worst customer service storage experiences…read moreI've ever had. We rented 2 units for a few months while we sold our house and moved. Everything seemed ok at first but then we started having issues. No one would be in the office at opening time. When the phone was answered the gentleman and/or sometimes older sounding lady had no idea what was going on or how to charge a credit card or change payment. We rented the truck and the same frazzled strange man helped us. He would not move the truck out or put it back into the small place where it is parked. He was unsure how to handle the billing. We left with no paperwork and nothing saying a transaction had occurred. When we did our final move out we noticed that water had leaked, I think gushed is a more appropriate term, in the corner of one of the units. In that corner was all the family photos, scrap books, keep sakes, collectible magazines and a box of high quality winter wool socks and some underwear. The frazzled, strange guy who was there said he would take photos, call the manager and let him know and he was sure they would "do something" for us. We left the moldy, mildewed mess in the unit and waited for a call the next day. No phone call. We drove over and spoke to the manager Ralph. He was rude, dismissive and just plain ugly. He refused to even listen, much less help. We had to go into the office several times to speak with him because he would just walk away while yelling. He said he had not been informed about the situation. However, he let slip that he had seen the photos the owner/employee had taken the day before. He not only did all these things but he then takes our code out of the system. We paid for a full month of service. If I want to check to make sure everything is out of the unit, now I can't. So not only did all this happen but he shorted us a day without a refund. So we lost very personal, irreplaceable memories and Ralph could care less. This could be the worst place ever to store your things. Either the unit leaked during one of the heavy July thunderstorms or when Jimmy's Minis cleaned out the gutters in June water got in. We were not asking for anything crazy in recompense. The way we were treated is just ridiculous. We don't want others to go through this. Ralph went from friendly to rabid dog status in a snap. We had wanted to support local business but it looks like the big storage corporations are just more reliable. We won't make the same mistake again and we hope you don't either. And I'm hoping the owners read this as well. The manager told us never to in on Wednesday because the guy who worked that day was incompetent. He was not even allowed a password or access to the computer system. What kind of business is this guy running. And then to talk about an employee like that. Hopefully the family who owns this business will do some house cleaning.
