This review is for the Public Storage in Palm Beach Gardens, FL off Burns Road. The property managers name is Nancy. Think twice before you come here because you cannot contact customer service other than speaking with Nancy, the property manager, who is never a pocket of sunshine. Just know, she's the only person you can talk to if something happens and THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE. This company, and NANCY, is the worst EVER! I'm pretty sure she is racist and very judgemental. I have had numerous storage units in the past since I'm a professional DJ and this company NEVER answers their phone. One month, they put a lock on my door, on the 1st, when I had a DJ gig and I couldn't access my storage unit to get my equipment to go make the money to pay the bill. I lost out on that gig. One time, my lock that I bought from them broke after 2 weeks of purchasing it, and the property manager, Nancy, was real nasty saying I must have dropped it and jammed it up so I should buy a new one. I went and bought my own lock and she told me insurance wouldn't cover it and I need to purchase their crappy lock. This month, I borrowed my uncles car because I wanted to get out so I took all my stuff out on Sunday Sept 30th assuming they would go to lock the door again on the 1st and see I was gone with my lock. I even tried to call them 1st on Sunday to ask about late payments or cancellation. No answer. I called in the morning. No answer. She called me today ON THE 2ND and said I need to pay my bill for this month. I said no I took my stuff OUT and I already paid for last month. I cannot afford to pay it this month. I am struggling to even pay my car payment because my car broke down. She said why didn't you come tell us? First of all, they were closed on Sunday when I came to get my equipment. I said I tried to call you and tell you, and I even left a message, but you guys NEVER answer the phone. I figured since you guys lock the doors on the 1st, you SHOULD have seen I took my lock yesterday and the unit was empty. She acted like I didn't just plead my case to her and she said well you didn't pay your bill this month sir. Then, I had to explain to her when I first got this unit I paid for that month. Then, thereafter, I paid on the 1st for that month. I did not pay on the 1st this month because my equipment was no longer there. I was being super nice to her because I know her attitude. I have been sick, diagnosed with a life changing medical complication, plus a broken down car and it doesn't surprise me that I have to deal with another problem. She literally told me in a very SMUG tone, "Well, I'm just going to write down here that you didn't pay your bill". Almost as if she was trying to make me angry. Really? Sounds like somebody who is miserable if you ask me. I'm not paying you $119 because you didn't answer your phone. This is the last thing I needed right now. Beware if you're a white because you will see a pattern when you read the reviews. Also, there is no customer service that you can speak with to get help other than the property manager so Good Luck if you decide to go with this company. Although I was not storing any of my belongings at this facility, the other facility was closed and I could not contact anyone AT THE Northlake location. so I thought by stopping at another facility I'll probably will get the help that I needed and I got just that I was able to do what I needed to do and I'm so grateful that she was there today I left with a smile. I have to admit, I was initially hesitant to use a name-brand storage unit for my needs, but I'm so glad I gave Public Storage a try, specifically this location! From my first phone conversation with Nancy to my visit to view the unit, she was absolutely fantastic! Friendly, patient, and she took the time to answer all of my questions (and I had a lot of them!). The rental process was super easy and quick, and it felt like I was doing business with a friend. Nancy treated me like a person, not just a customer, and I truly appreciated that! If you're in need of a storage unit, I highly recommend checking out this location. You won't be disappointed! I reserved a storage unit on Friday. I no longer needed it and called on Saturday to cancel the unit and get a refund. They have not returned my calls or emails. I've gone in person 3 times and no one is there. They unrightfully charged me $162 and never refunded me. Very poorly run company. read more

I have never received such poor customer service in my life! I am an existing client with a unit we have had for our business for over 10 years and called customer service to ask about pricing for the holiday weekend and options to getting a bigger or second unit. Denise with customer service was so rude as soon as she answered the phone. Her tone, her demeanor, was all miserable and it seamed as though she was looking to do as little work as possible today and her last priority was to assist any existing customers with their needs. She then refused to speak with me because I was not an administrator on the account even though I assured her I didnt need any assistance regarding our existing account. If that is company policy she could have gone about telling me she cannot assist me in a more professional way. Due to our interaction this morning I will be pulling our business from Public Storage and moving to your direct competitor. This is not how you treat customers that support your business. read more

HORRIBLE! Absolutely terrible! In two years the rent has raised to $400 for a 10x20!!! The customer service is a perfect example of "how not to treat your customers". I needed 1dat extension to get moved out and they refused to work with me AT ALL. So if I moved out on the first they would charge me a full month of the $400 something raised rent. We moved to another storage where the price is under $150, very clean, and they treat us like we pay them $400, unlike Self a storage. Stay away! read more

Horrible experience,the gate worked half the time and the other half not.I was forced to buy insurance I didn't need charged a 35% late fee for paying on the 7th 35% seriously who does that (A $1000 house rental at 35 % would be $350) no landlord could get away with that.they tried to make me buy their $25 lock but I refused and brought my own.then when I moved out on the 3rd of the month they kept charging me for another month.they were notified on the 4th..I had a few small things in there I didn't want and lost my transportation to remove them.I offered to come over and bring it to their dumpster and they refused and charged me for December when I'm not even there.Funny thing is I rented here before under the old management and never had a problem.find somewhere else you won't regret it read more

I had booked a reservation online. I had spoken with someone on the phone and had seen a different location but not actually the unit that I would be getting in Palm Beach Gardens. After moving in I have reservations about the location of the actual unit, and of some of the pricing. I went to the front office to see if there was somebody I could speak with. Marisa was at the front counter and could not have been kinder. Not only did she help me find a unit that was interior and climate controlled, but she found a unit that would work for me after listening and hearing what I was putting in the unit. She spent over an hour just walking the storage facility with my son and myself trying to help accommodate my needs. Marisa went above and beyond and really helped make this a more personalized experience. I was anxious about getting belongings from one storage unit to another and about putting everything back in my car and Marisa found a unit that was actually around the corner so that all we needed was the yellow dollies that were provided by public storage. Marisa helped me to switch my unit over online so that everything was current and I didn't have to change anything once she did it for me. I was a bit hesitant as I hadn't had a storage unit in years and Marisa was not only knowledgeable, but so helpful and so thoughtful working with my son and I to help get me the best unit, the best price on the best location at that public storage for my needs. I'm not one to leave online reviews, but Marisa left such an impression on me and was such a thoughtful employee of public storage that I really wanted to make sure that her time and energy were noted. Well done with your employees. If Marisa is an indication of the care that I am left in, I'm sure that my experience with this public storage will be amazing. The first 2 units we purchased were fine, but the 3rd one was accidentally opened at Burns Rd instead of Park Rd which is also off Burns Rd. When we called to correct the error, the woman put us through hell on the phone..... making us recite our drivers licenses numbers, and all other information, then she made me go wake up my son to interrogate him too. After a half hour interrogation, she had the nerve to say... "You have to go cancel this unit in person!" Why did we have to go through this interrogation, and I had to wake up my son too, if it had to be done in person? So on our crazy-busy moving day, she made us drive over there to cancel. We went there and the clerk said "Why did she make you come here to cancel the unit booked by mistake?" She said it could have easily been corrected over the phone!!!!!! Apparently, this lady was just an evil person! Now I see on my credit card that they cheated us on our refund too! We never even went to the unit, we cancelled a few minutes after accidentally booking online. And they only gave us a partial refund! Now after all of that I have to dispute the refund too!!! I only had the unit for a short period of time but the staff was more than helpful and went above and beyond their normal scope to make sure I was taken care of and that all worked as it should. I used not only their lock but I also had another that I placed on the unit. The building is clean and well maintained and appears very secure. The staff is more than knowledgeable and will help you no matter how trivial the question or problem. They get 5 stars from me and I will definitely do business with them again. read more

We needed storage for our car and misc items. The storage facility is clean and gated. Our unit price did increase $30 per month (0ver 6 months) from our original move in, however I guess this is how all storage places work. Once your stuff is in their storage, you are not moving it out over an increase of $10 per month here or there. This is a complaint with all storage companies. You would think if someone had some marketing skills they could capture the market by offering a locked in rate for 6 months!! Hint Hint!! The staff, Barbara was very helpful in showing us several units and getting the right unit. She was very detailed in the paperwork process and fast! Recently we had to downsize our storage needs, and once again the staff couldn't have been more helpful!! I think we did buy the lock, which is about half price at harbor freight, but we always lock our storage anyway. We set up auto pay on our credit card, that way you never have to worry about having something happen like the other review. read more

Although as most of the other reviews indicate, Dolly and Chris are very knowledgeable and helpful. However, it is beyond me why new customers are told, at this location anyways, that it is "MANDATORY" that you purchase a "PUBLIC STORAGE LOCK," which is ridiculously overpriced, to secure your storage unit. Although, WHO NEEDS A LOCK when your payment is a bit late, and Public Storage takes it upon themselves to EMPTY your storage unit almost an entire month before it is even scheduled for Public Auction because "they felt the items were only worth $50 at Auction and they were considered trash to them". (WHY, of course, because they were taking up a unit that they could rent to someone else - ILLEGAL!!!) Let it be known that the items in the storage unit (although maybe only 6 items or so) were purchased just last year were worth well over $3,000. Oh yeah, and don't think that the "mandatory insurance" they have you buy will cover the loss that was caused by Public Storage. Oh, NO, that's not covered. While the District/Regional Manager TOTALLY ADMITTED the error, and has attempted to be helpful, the Corporate Office of Public Storage is holding my daughter over the fire and they are only willing to pay 1/4 of the actual loss because, of course, she doesn't have the receipts because they were in the storage unit. HOW IRONIC. Public Storage attempts to cover its butt and takes pictures of the items that were removed from the unit and SUPPOSEDLY taken to the dump. I guess I can thank them for one thing, at least the pictures show at least some of the items that were stolen by Public Storage, even though she had that "MANDATORY PUBLIC STORAGE LOCK." Thank goodness we had that on there. LOL How can this possibly be the way a company such as Public Storage treats their customers. Our family has been renting from them for years and years. I guess they take a gamble and hope you don't spend the money to file a lawsuit against them. Not this girl, WE WILL SEE YOU IN COURT. This will be a good case for others to use should you end up in the same situation. Hard working people, getting taken advantage of. IT'S A TOTAL SHAME. SHAME ON YOU PUBLIC STORAGE!!!!! read more

One star only because I can't give zero! Started to rent a unit here, but during the checkout process we questioned the charge breakdown shown on the invoice (which was not provided until AFTER we swiped the card). After much discussion, the two staff members could not explain SEVERAL discrepancies on the bill, so we asked them to void the transaction, refund our money and we'd walk away (which they agreed to do). When we checked our credit card activity, the refund credits did not add up to the full amount charged. We complained to the national customer service department, who forwarded the complaint to the local owner of the business. He offered the explanation that corporate policy says the first 30-days are non-refundable for ANY reason, and the fact that they refunded anything was "generous." They said the amount they withheld was for the one-time administrative fee (+tax), even though we never took control of the unit (their lock never came off, ours never went on). I told the owner I felt there was no basis for them to keep a fee they didn't do anything to earn, as they never even started a customer file (except for the 10-minutes of data entry in the computer). The owner wouldn't budge. Disputing through the credit card company, but not very hopeful. This is likely the same at any Public Storage location nationwide. I will NEVER rent from them. read more
