Public Storage offered, as an inducement to sign up, the 2nd month free. After I signed up, before moving anything, I requested a larger space (10 x 30) at a higher rate & subsequently moved all my stuff in. Nothing was said about the special deal not being available for the larger space. After I was billed for the 2nd month rent - called & disputed due to promise of 2nd month free & was told that the special only applied to "new" customers. I explained I was a new customer because I never moved anything into the smaller unit (10' x 20'). Public Storage referred me to "corporate" customer service which was not helpful. They have refused to honor the inducement of 2nd month free. Get any promises in writing BEFORE you move all your stuff in. read more

Why one star? Extremely shady business model. I was there around 5 months when my $108 per month stirage was jacked up to $158 with no notification, no reason, nothing. If you're able to get ahold of anyone to talk with (good luck, there's nobody around ever) they won't know why. I finally got ahold of someone who could tell me why after much effort and run around. I was told the rent is based on "market analysis"; some vague formula involving how much demand there is, market fluctuations, moon phases and a bunch of other lies that boiled down to them knowing moving your stored items is such a hassle that you'll just cave and stay. Any of these 5 star ratings are bots or payed for. Anytime the ratings are only 5 stars or 1 star, beware. The only redeeming quality is the units on Stoll Rd. in Olympia WA are kept clean. read more

Jack up the price every few months by a ridiculous amount, with no notice. Price went from $119 a month to $260 within two years, when similar units elsewhere are still under $125 per month. I've used Public Storage my entire life and this location has ensured I will never use Public Storage again. Good riddance. read more

They just steadily jack up your rates over the course of your rental like clockwork. In the 4 years I have leased to now almost doubling the initial rent. Having almost doubled the amount I asked to have my rent decreased which went better than expected, I was approved, and it lasted 2 months. Then they had the audacity take away a rental decrease, stating I didn't qualify (You know almost 4 years no missed or late payments even as I struggled being unemployed during the Pandemic for 9 months.) and then slap a rent increase on me, pushing my unit to almost 300$ a month. When I asked why I was given one and why I didn't qualify for the decrease. All I got was a scripted answer to my question with no elaboration on my case. Chat support is terrible as well as their phone support. The on-site manager is as useless as they are annoying, which is 11/10 and overall a waste of a interaction with an individual so I avoid dealing with them as much as possible. The only guy at Public Storage I have dealt with and gotten results with was the district manager about 3 years ago and he has long since departed that position I assume as he was to good for this company. My advice us them for the cheap promo period and GTFO as they say they are month to month leases for a reason. read more

I have been with this place for over 4 years. Never once have I been late on my rent. I had a family crisis and was unable to pay the rent until the following month. I was charged over $300 in late fees and lock rental for their own lock to be put on my unit. This company is all about scamming you into huge late fees and even auctioning off your stuff if your even one month late. I have the nasty emails to prove it. Storage units were very clean and new. I rented two units and I was forced to get their circular locks, each costing 19.99, and was told that I had to get their rental insurance despite me having my own property's insurance that covered external storage units. It was also very inconvenient for this location to adjust their hours due to the Corona virus. The place was shut down after 6 p.m. claiming this was to ensure their employees remained safe. Let me note that the units are located outside and no employee contact is necessary when accessing the units as there is a coded entry gate. After leaving the storage units before the month was over, I was expecting to receive a pro-rated amount back for the unused two weeks. Apparently Public Storage is too greedy and refused to give me any amount back and the 1-800 representative expressed it is part of their rental policy. I stated I didn't receive any paperwork stating such due to COVID-19. read more

AWFUL experience with these people. I went to the manager's office twice during their business hours and the office was locked and nobody was there to attend customers if they needed any help. We needed storage service with little notice. We worked with Ian and he was kind, professional and made our experience great.

The lock we bought from them failed within the first few weeks of use (third time). The district manager refused to come in on the weekend, so we had to hire a locksmith. They refused to take responsibility for the lock or the cost of the locksmith. Top notch company. Avoid it if you care about service. read more

I was living in San Diego when I made a reservation for my storage locker. I talked with about 4 different customer service phone representatives all of whom were incredibly friendly and knowledgable in giving me the essential accurate info I needed. After I arrived in Olympia, WA I met the guy who managed the Public Storage facility where I had made my reservation. He was the icing on the cake. Great customer service, gave me well-educated information to help me make the best choices concerning my locker location, size, pricing, and "how-to" info regarding moisture retention products, putting lock on door, how to raise and lower locker door, security camera locations, even letting me know the driveway space was wide enuf to accommodate the larger transport moving truck. Kudos to management for hiring and training your staff to be some of the best in the industry. read more

Let the manager know in April I saw evidence of mice in one of my boxes, he took pictures of it and I thought it would be addressed. In June when I moved my stuff out I ended up bringing mice into my new house! About third of my boxes had evidence of mice, found a nest in a dresser drawer and chased a live mouse out of my house! The only recourse I have is to file an insurance claim (through the insurance I got with them because I was led to believe I legally had to get additional insurance) to receive a maximum of $250 with a deductible of $100. Unless you want mice and your things to smell like them I suggest storing your belongings somewhere else. read more

This was the worst storage facility experience I've ever had. Cassidy, the property manager, flat out lied to me in telling me I HAD TO buy their insurance. I am a home owner and told her I was pretty sure my homeowner's insurance would cover my stuff in storage. She said that didn't matter -- I still needed to buy one of their 3 options of coverage -- I reluctantly chose the least expensive one at an additional $11/month. There is a lot of paperwork to sign, so I didn't read everything. If I had, I would have seen that it states: "I understand that the insurance offered at this facility is not required in order to store my goods at this facility." I called her and told her I wanted her to cancel the insurance and credit me my $11. She said I had to come in and do it in person. The next couple times I went to my unit, there was no one in the office, so so much for getting it cancelled... I found another storage unit at a different property (not Public Storage) and got my stuff out of Public Storage ASAP -- I wasn't even there for a full month. I will never do business with this company again. read more

Helpful staff, but the company won't spend even the money to print up cards to help customers tell their two different Olympia properties apart. I got run around trying to find my unit. No licensure information available either. The corporation goes underground the minute there is a problem. They are strictly 9 to 5 weekdays, (i.e., I am lost on a weekend) and no corporate numbers I could find for the California office. Good luck if anything goes wrong. I believe I will need to shift my property to another stroage company by the end of the month to avoid any problems with access, etc. I am drawing up that move budget now. I would not recommend this company. I need a company that backs its word, and I didn't get that with Public Storage for my trust and money spent in Olympia. read more

The people are nice and the facility is clean, but it aggravates me to no end that the price increases every year. I moved to this location specifically for the lower cost and now it's as much as where I used to be.
