My motorhome was stolen from PublicStorage on Martin Way, Lacey WA. Someone bought a storage unit for $1.00 for the first month and a $29 fee. You don't even have to go directly to the office. You can even get one online at Publicstorage.com. Please look at the screenshot of their web page included with the pictures of my camper. Online Contract. No Contact. Rent Online Right Now. Skip the Counter & Go Straight to Your Space. Then you get a personal code linked to your name (or fake name and ID), no verifying anything, including address, documents or ID. In my case, someone got the code at 3:30pm and came back 4 hours later and went back and simply drove out with my motorhome. All on camera. When you get a the code and get through the gate gives access to the entire storage property. When my motorhome was stolen the persons got $30 a code, and went back 4 hours later and drove it right off the lot. They refused to take any responsibility. They said they do not provide any security, even though they are locked behind a security fence with cameras, and a personal code is required to enter the property. Beware of this company! Check the reviews before using them. And definitely don't store anything valuable with them! Keep an eye out for my motorhome, please. read more

Setting up at the storage unit was a breeze online. They have a contactless system that I was able to complete in just a few minutes and within 24 hours I had access to the unit. The facility itself is very clean, well-maintained, and seems secure being in a closed lot. It was everything that a storage company should be. I give it a thumbs up. The staff at the office was helpful and understanding to our situation so no complaints to her, but please don't store your things here. My husband and I just got out of the military and during our out of state move, everything from our house was stored here for around 5 months or so, and upon our return we found that our entire unit had been infested with rats and almost everything was completely ruined. We had to throw away most of our furniture and plenty of other things. Every storage unit next to ours and on the other side had rat holes where they would go in and out. There was no food or ingestible items in our unit. We heard that they cover up to $250 of vermin damage and even though the damage was MUCH more than that, they still have not returned any calls or contacted us regarding our claim with the insurance. Please please don't bring anything to store here. If i could reach out to all the people who are already renting out a space and let them know they probably have a rat infestation, i would. Well, almost my entire storage unit was robbed from this Public Storage last week. The thieves cut the lock (a MasterLock approved by the facility), replaced it with a similar lock, and proceeded to empty out nearly everything from my corner my unit. I received a call from the property manager that she noticed that 'my' lock did not have the approved stickers and she placed an overlock on the unit... unfortunately this is after they had cleared everything out except an empty dresser, a bed frame, and a few boxes of pots and pans. I had nearly every personal memento in this unit from my entire life - photos, letters, traveling souvenirs, projects from art school, family heirlooms. There was some valuable stuff in there as well, including camping gear and electronics, but it is the loss of my personal items that I am heartbroken over. I do not understand how this could happen at a place where the entire purpose is to keep your things safe. There are very few security cameras at this location, and it seems that Public Storage is unable or unwilling to do anything past an initial viewing of footage of the entrance gate (which resulted in nothing) to assist in catching the culprit(s) and/or attempting to recover my belongings. I believe this incident will negatively impact me for the rest of my life, and wish I had never, ever trusted Public Storage with my belongings. read more

After a few months my rent went from $196/mo to $274/month. This isn't the end of a move-in special, it's just an arbitrary price hike. I have three weeks to get my stuff out if I don't approve (I don't approve). This makes it the highest priced storage unit in town, by far. Public Storage plays games with their rental prices and you can never be sure what you will *really* be paying in the long run. I'd avoid them if you can. read more

I had an emergency where the locks needed to be protected--done, then changed--done, no issues--efficient and effective. So, I found my mattress cover that the guys removed. They tossed it and some pillows on the floor of my walk-in closet which I didn't notice earlier because I don't sleep in my bedroom or use my closet. So after returning back to reality and realizing that it was not a massive alligator waiting to eat me I realized that I do not have to buy a new cover. Yay..... I still think these guys are the best and I will be using their services again on my next move. To explain why I thought it was an alligator to those of you who may be wondering... I watch a lot of discovery channel and nat geo wild and I may have an irrational but not so irrational fear of an alligator coming to eat me. read more

This place is an absolute joke. The staff are all unprofessional, talk off a script, try to sell everything in the store. They are super SUPER pushy!! The $1 advertising is a lie. They make you purchase $50 worth of extras that you don't need. After everything Sue literally walked over and stood right behind us and made us give her a 5 star review. All the reviews they have are because they pressure you giving them great reviews or else your stuff might get stolen. Oh and they don't pro- rate at all if you move out early. They are overpriced and everyday we thought our stuff would be stolen. Sue also flipped the pages when we were trying to read the contract. Do NOT use this Public Storage! This is the WORST service I have EVER received! If I was not deployed and unable to remove my stuff from this place I would be there tomorrow getting everything out of there! In the last 6 months, I have had my rates raised 4 times and I am now paying 100 dollars more then I originally rented the unit for! Almost 300 dollars for a small, untemperature-controlled 10*20 unit! EVERY TIME I call to speak to someone they REFUSE to speak to me because I can not verify my OLD drivers license number that I used to get the unit and have had replaced since which has a new number. And I can only UPDATE the information by going to the location IN PERSON!!!! I am military how do you expect me to come there??? You have no problem raising my rates over a 100 dollars and taking my money for it, but you refuse to talk to me about it???? REALLY!!!! read more

This is the worst storage for yearly increase. Got my storage January of 2019, my storage fee increased by 30 dollars in March. I am moving out February of 2020 and I got notification that March would have gone up by 32 dollars. They claim its due to increase of property tax. Wouldn't recommend this business. read more

I needed storage for the entire contents of my garage. I thought that Public Storage would be a safe place to keep my belongings. NOT! I had my unit broken into twice. Not once but twice. My mandatory insurance did not pay as I did not have purchase documentation for my possessions. Some of which were very valuable and decades old. All I got from the caretakers was "I'm sorry". So I gave my notice and moved out on an agreed date. And...Since I was not out the gate by 6 pm, I was charged another month. When I questioned one of the caretakers about the charge he started to yell at me telling me if I did not pay I will be sent to collections. Very rude. I've never rented a storage unit and she gave me thorough information, was very engaged in serving us, and even walked us around the property to show us different sized units so I could be sure we had enough space. I just emptied my locker at Public Storage after twelve years doing business with them. There were a few bumps but in the last five years or more things went well and ran smoothly. The people who run it called me if my rent was due to avoid late charges which helped me a lot as I paid several months at a time and would forget. (Just last month I discovered they have an e-mail invoice service which really helps,) Sue is very helpful. The facility is clean and the proprietors are friendly and helpful. Hours are good. Finding a storage during a move/deployment is already stressful enough. After speaking to Sue for less than 5 minutes, I just knew public storage was going to be home for my items for the next 9 months! She explained everything in detail and answered any questions and concerns I had. She made the process such a breeze that I was in and out that door in no time.
