Rental unit roof leaks, water and rust falling on valuables saturating, staining and ruining family treasures. Multiple phone calls to Public Storage unanswered. Chat Bot lied when complaint issued, still have not heard back a week later. Photos show hole in roof, rust falling on items, puddle and actively dripping water. Moved items out before the 10th of the month and unable to get reimbursed for the balance. In essence they are charging rent while actively damaging valuable property. When I finally caught an 'employee' his only response was "that's what insurance is for". read more

Couldn't wait to get out of there. I joined on a special promotion that looked attractive. Was one day late on a payment and they wouldn't waive the $46 late fee. Our indoor space, supposedly "climate controlled", had a gap in the wall where we could see outside. So moisture could easily get in - not good for storing musical instruments. They have no carts. They slapped their own logo sticker on my padlock without asking, which was near impossible to scrape off. Then I got a notice that they were raising the already high rent. Rented from nearby Storage King at less than half the price - far more secure, with carts, and actually climate controlled. Just make sure you rent from their online site. read more

Beware - they are able to pro-rate your first month's rent but for some reason are not able to do the same if you move out after the first of a billing month. I moved out Sept. 3rd and unfortunately did not think to turn off the automatic payment setting prior to vacating so I was told I would not get any refund of the $325 they already took out of my bank account for the full month of September. So am paying for a service they are not providing. Also agree with the comments about jacking up the price. I started at $188 and by 18 months later it was up to $335. read more

Fantastic customer service at West Chester, PA location!!! I've been having problems with my bill of late fees for over 4 years. A supervisor, during Covid, promised to wipe out late fees and such if I paid a certain amount. I stuck to the payment schedule and he never kept up to his promise. Arguing for 4 years about it, I spoke to Karen at West Chester and she actually LISTENED to my situation and in one day, got me the credit I deserved!!!! Well done Karen!! A big weight is lifted off my shoulders. I wish every employee could have been as kind as she and took the time to discuss what happened. She deserves a BIG raise:) read more

Worst service ever. I rented a storage at this place and they recommended I buy a dump check for humidity. I thought this was standard, but when I put the dump check in the storage unit, I came back less than 48 hours, I noticed that the damp check absorbant is already wet. Because I was planning to store books in the storage, I decided to cancel my rent. I immediately went to the office and asked to cancel. When I explained the situation to the office manager and told him I want to cancel, he just said ok and then cancelled it on the spot without any refund. This is less than 48 hours after I rented...and he just said that they set the temperature at a certain level and that is it. He just did not seem to care about the high humidity that could damage stored items. I don't recommend this public storage at all. read more

Besides the fact that water comes in the units, The doors don't close properly if they work at all. My unit is always filled with leaves, animal feces and dirt. They raise the rate on average $120 each year. At this point it's $650 for the unit I started at 170. I moved out of this unit and moved into another same brand different location that is 1,000% better so far read more

After you spend a lot of money moving the items into storage, they performed a Bait & Switch. In just 3 months in April 2021, they increased the rent from $173.84 to $198.22, a 14% increase. Then just 12 months later in April 2022, they increased the rent another 37% to $272.42. So, in less than 16 months they increased the rent 57%. They can abuse the customer because of the difficulty and expense of moving to another Storage Location. This is unethical, abusive and they need to be held accountable so they cannot abuse other customers. The district manager, Devon, is in the process of trying to resolve this issue. read more

The entire process was made easier, faster, and much more smooth by the employee Rachel who was on staff at the Public Storage located at 5085 West Chester Pike, Newton Square, PA, 19073. As this was my first time using a storage service the help was very much appreciated. This was impressive also considering she was handling more than just me as there were other customers coming in and calling and yet she managed to get us all sorted quickly and efficiently despite being the only employee at the location. Honestly I had contemplated switching to a U-Haul storage facility much closer to my location last minute due to its convenience, but I'm glad I stayed with Public Storage entirely due to this one employee. I'd apologize for the dramatics in these comments, but truly someone should give Rachel a raise or promotion. read more

Rent started at $165 per month and increased to $290 by the time I left 18 months later. When I moved out, I found the back 1/4th of the unit flooded and standing in 1/2" of water with the boxes and walls covered in black mold. Everything from that area had to be tossed. When I complained to the woman in the front office, she just shrugged and said, "That's what insurance is for." No concern for me or any of my neighbors in the surrounding units, no interest in finding the source of the water. I was livid. So...premium prices, sub-par facilities and service. PASS. read more

I am renting a unit in the back building of a public storage 2 separate building facility. The front building seems well kept as the one in the back has unsealed floors and is not that clean. There are also no carts readily available. I think that there is only one for the whole complex. So you always need to walk around the entire space looking for it. If someone is using it, you're out of luck. They really need to purchase more to post around the doors. The doors themselves need attention. Most do not close all of the way. The incompetent of this organization goes beyond the imagination. It took them 8 months to repair the springs on the gate.. now that it's fixed the gate closes to two and a half inches above the ground. Allowing snow trash and animals to frequent my unit. When I spoke to the child working at the desk he just said I don't know. Maybe my manager should do something. You're better off storing things in a tent in your yard in the storage unit. read more

Doubled my rent. Started out at $140 per month. 6 months later it went to $260. Then in another 6 months they raised it again to $288. Can't wait for it to be raised again in another 6 months. They never give you any warning about it either. No phone call. No email. Your bill is just higher. The storage rental business is notorious for jacking up rates whenever they want. Do a google search, you can see websites where owners share tips on the best time to raise rates so you don't get as much push back or people canceling. The idea is to lure you in with cheap rates and then raise them...knowing it's tough to cancel because now you'd have to move all of your stuff out and then move it in at another place. Most people just suck it up and pay the higher rate because that would be such a hassle. read more

Friendly, knowledgable Lynn makes renting, payment, and storage so easy. Gated area and climate controlled units were all I needed, but Lynn made it an enjoyable, stress-free experience. Only negative is that public storage makes you buy one of their locks; $20 for a lock that you can find for $10 elsewhere is a rip off. Find one on your own and bring it with you; it's a round shrouded padlock. read more

Worst customer service ever. They don't care about your access. They just take the money and lock the gates. Then, when pressed, a so-called manager will simply say, "I'll leave the gate open," so I, the paying customer, can have access after 9pm. They'll leave the gate open, thereby breaching the contract that they put in place promising to secure the storage facility with gates accessible only with a passcode. I don't know who can get in there with bolt cutters. All the doors are open and anyone could figure out how to rob people blind with the right team. Carts and lights are spotty at best. The hallway where they stuck me had zero lighting for the first month and a 1/2 of my occupancy. But, they are super quick to tell you you can't get your stuff because you're a day late with your payment. And, when I tried to swap my large unit for a smaller one to save money and avoid any fees, no one was there to assist me, so I had to stick with the larger, more expensive unit, of course. The bottom line is They have garages you can lock if you pay them enough. Get in and get out as fast as you can. These people are not people-friendly. And, they aren't in it for the service. read more

I was very pleased with the number and sizes of storage units available at this facility. Ron, who was working that day, showed me various units until I found one that I could drive up to unload. He was thorough and professional. They had locks for sale as well and he told me they check locks several times a day to make sure the units are secure. Just what the doctor ordered! read more

Lynn at Public Storage Newtown Square is awesome. She is super helpful in terms of getting you in and out of storage. She answers all your questions with ease and just takes care of whatever concerns or issues you may with respect to moving in and out. Everything is a breeze. The facility is modern, well-lit, with ample parking. It's pretty much everything you want in a storage facility. It's spacious. Very easy to get large moving trucks in and out. Kat, was very good, took a lot of time explaining the whole rental procedure. The facility is very clean. The only issue that I see is that the security gate is not operational, and that the lighting outside of the unit that I am renting is out, the bulbs need replacement. We had the pleasure of working with Kristen, Kat and Stephanie. We signed up with Kristen, who graciously showed us several units before we could decide. We had just decided to walk-in one day to see the units but decided to grab the one we wanted while it was available. But of course we had questions which, both Kristen and Kat were happy to answer The next night I realized that the wrong unit number was on the paperwork, but the envelop and access card had the correct one. We had went back and forth trying to make up our minds on a unit and saw several, so we understood how/why this happened. The following morning we called and went in the office to get it straightened out. That's when we met Stephanie. To us this seemed like it should have been a quick and easy thing to just switch out the units, but like with anything else there is a process. Stephanie, was a big help. She had called her manager and explained why we wanted to other unit, she even went as far as to go to the units and explain the visible differences to try to get this handled before we arrived! The staff that work at this location are great and I'd recommend them. The company could use a better phone system, we had the hardest time getting a live person, but that does not take away from the great service that we received from the staff at the location. read more

I arrived from the west coast, exhausted. Had completed my reservation online, confirmation code and all. Called the day before our arrival to make sure how early we were allowed to move in and allow for enough time for paperwork. Was given a time, and assurance the unit was ready. I showed up a little early the next morning. Nakiya was the site manager, and was a bit puzzled as to why I was there, informed me the unit was no longer available and someone should have confirmed that as it was rented just prior to my phone call. She called other locations, no units. She then asked if I was ok with a larger unit, I said yes and she quickly reserved it for me, processed all the paperwork, and we walked the unit. We completed everything minutes prior to the moving help I had hired to unload the truck. Everything was handled with care and concern, I was wiped from my long journey. The building is on a hill so I feel more secure with seasonal changes not affecting my unit. Also, the security precautions that they take on a daily basis just added to my comfort level.
