absolutely horrible ! I had 4 units with Public Storage. Whereas the folks at Steward Street in Sunnyvale let me know when I was falling behind and worked with me, I never got a phone call or a warning that my unit was going to go up for auction at Terra Bella . This unit had all the tools that I needed to restart my business, I was in the middle of moving my residence. I was continuing to pay not realizing what they had done, Then they said I still owed $60. I couldn't even get myself to talk to them I was so upset. They had a third party come after me. I settled with that party for $30. Guess what, they didn't drop the settled part of the $30, now they are adding late charges on something that was settled !!! it is up to $100 and I cant even get ahold of a live person to get them to resolve this!!! Upon learning that I was new to this process, the Property Manager, Parveen, was exceptionally generous with his time, answered all of my rookie questions, helped me select an appropriate unit, made sure that I had all necessary maps/codes/locks, etc. at my fingertips prior to arrival, and even made the effort to check in a few days later to ensure all went smoothly. And to top things off after 5 months the rate was changed from $149 a month to $180 WITHOUT notice other than a new number for next month in the payment confirmation, no call, no email explaining it, just automatically charging more. Given how much they hassle you for good reviews my guess is they raised it as retaliation for my honest review. The customer service here is fantastic! The only issue I had with this place it seemed like the prices would go up every so often, and ultimately I had to move out. My rent started at $90/month and ended at $160/month. I had a really great price to start off but the price almost doubled in less than a year of renting there. I can understand the demand was increasing but the prices seemed to increase almost by $20 quarterly. Other than that, the people working there were always professional and even did courtesy calls to make sure I paid on time. I would give 5 stars for their service but as far as pricing goes I had to deduct one. Just wished it didn't increase so often. read more

Terrible terrible place. They treat their employees like cavemen. The store employees are not allowed to even have internet within the store or make any rational decision regarding any kind of customer process. My storage unit got broken into the first 3 weeks of being there (not even a month). Not only did I NOT get reimbursed for the month or some kind of credit to my account, but I had to stand and guard my storage unit all day on memorial day because no one could get a hold of the regional manager. This regional manager is the only person with the power to allow the employees to put a new lock on my storage unit. There seems to be a pattern of reviews discrediting upper management policies yet there still are very evident issues. Oh, and that "insurance" they require you to buy is utterly worthless. They provided no help with recovering our stolen items. We lost cameras, cell phones and my guitar that was in there until we moved into our new apartment. I do not normally write reviews (good or bad) but this scenario had a terrible enough impact on my life that I decided to go out of my way and share my story. Hope this helps when you are deciding where to keep your belongings. read more

Four stars because while Peggy, the manager, rates 5 stars, the company itself is only 3 stars since they reduced access hours from 9pm to 6pm--a huge reduction in customer service and convenience. Peggy knocked herself out for us to ensure we got the space we needed. I hope Public Storage is aware she is a stellar asset for them. I've used this location since the '70s. It has been improved and fairly well maintained. Convenient access. My complaints appear rooted in company policy (and are not the fault of the manager, Peggy). 1. They took a ratings hit when they reduced access hours from 9pm to 6pm. Now it's impossible to access after work. 2. They don't tell you about the required insurance until you have accepted the unit and are completing paperwork. The increased cost is an unpleasant surprise and feels like a gouge. If they were up front with it from the beginning, I'd have more respect for their process. 3. If the single ceiling light in the storage space goes out and replacing the light doesn't work, it appears they assume there's a problem with the wiring and won't even try to fix it. (And they don't allow a discount for a unit without a light.) It appears they assume--without checking--that a wiring problem must be located in a neighboring storage space they have no access to(?) But failing to at least check the switch and socket within the unit itself, this practice will result in substantial deterioration within all units over time. If they did check the switch and socket for nonworking lights as a matter of policy, to ensure solid connections, any systemic problem would be corrected over time as units turned over. 4. Site managers apparently aren't allowed to use discretion when setting monthly rates. When we noticed the unit we had just rented had a ceiling light that didn't work, we asked for another unit with a working light. When one became available a week or so later, Diane called us and signed us up for one. But the company issued a completely new contract and the cost went up noticeably. Diane was unable to set the rental fee to that of the unit we had already rented on her computer. The system forced her to consult with a District Manager. on another day. That was 4 months ago. Diane reported that she has had multiple contacts with the District Manager and, although they have credited me for the over-billing each month, they continue to over-bill. They just can't seem to correct the problem. That said, now that you are aware of this, check with your own insurance agent before going in. Some policies already cover items stored off premises up to 10%, for example, of your insured amount. read more

Good deal with 1$ for the first month, easily access to rooms, convenient location, good gate system. Only minor complaint is you have to sign up for an 11$/month insurance policy. read more

My room has become too small to house all the extra furniture my relatives keep donating to me. Thankfully I was able to find a close storage unit where I could fit all my stuff! I am always a little skeptical about these places because you never know what goes on when you arent there. When I arrived at Public Storage, i was greeted by Diane. Unfortunately I made the mistake of allowing my broke ex boyfriend to use my credit card and information to get a storage unit. I had asked him multiple times to vacate the unit and get one on his own after we broke up, honestly even before. PEGGY was AMAZING and a god sent angel and let me know how to get myself out of this predicament. She called me to let me know he finally vacated the unit but left it a mess for her to clean up. I know, great guy. Peggy was so understanding agreed to not charge me for the unit as it was left, which was trashed. Peggy went above and beyond for me, and as a young, and obviously too giving of a person, she understood and looked out for me and my credit and money. The best part i liked about this property is, all storage units are on ground with drive access. I have used this property for 4 months to store my extra stuff and my experience has been great. Diane was very helpful and had a great customer service attitude. I am bit finnicky about things, and the fact the door hatch had a different color and style freaked me and she immediately moved me to another unit at the same internet price. I vacated end of last month and it went very smooth. No extra charges or fees. (I just followed up 2 or 3 times that i am vacating end of June). Overall a great experience. I would definitely return back to this property when in need. read more

Great facility if you need temporary storage for three months or less. Expect to see a 30% rate increase within six months, and then significantly higher increases every 9-12 months after that. The facility is fine, the way public storage runs its business is not fine. read more

Having dealt with Ed and Jenny for years at the Rengstorff location without issues except for rent hikes out of their control, I'll pass on this location. I rented a unit here from October 2015 until today and this was the best service I've gotten at a Public Storage, including another Bay Area location where I had a unit for almost ten years. Peggy is very helpful and was greatly appreciated opening and closing out our unit there. During the moving out process she was very kind and helpful with little things that aren't much but make a stressful situation better. This location was secure, clean, and comfortable. My unit was never tampered with and everything inside was just as clean and dry as I left it. The surrounding area is nice as well so it feels like a good place to store your things. If you need to take a break there are robots wandering around a few doors down the street. No joke. Robots. Like, roboting around. Three of them. I still have no clue what that was about but I certainly was amused! Can't get much better than that. read more

All of the previous reviews seem a little too keen on Peggy, which makes me think they aren't real reviews. I have met Peggy. We were one of the very recent 21 break-ins in the month of July. We had over 3000$ worth of stuff stolen. And when sorting out details to get information they were not very helpful. Where is the security footage that should be present throughout the entire property? You need an individual code to enter and exit each time, supposedly one car at a time. How do they not have who did this? Something definitely seems fishy here. Be careful storing your stuff here. read more

Just about as good as short term storage gets. Reserve your spot online and fill out as many of the forms as possible so you don't have to in person. About 10 minutes after I filled out the form, I got a call from Jennifer(?) to set up my appointment to view + buy the unit the next day. Peggy helped me out at the viewing and is about as nice as possible for someone that works at a storage facility! Being around her really makes your mood get better (even through all the boring paperwork). You walk in, she confirms who you are with your ID, you check out the unit, go back to the office and fill out all the paperwork (lease info, insurance, paying for the first month, etc), and buy any boxes/tape/etc you need. It took about 30 minutes from entrance to exit with no one else there. It was super efficient and Peggy is a doll. About insurance: Apparently you're required to have insurance for the storage unit. I'd recommend checking ahead of time with your renter's/home insurance to see if you're already covered for that. Otherwise you can just buy the insurance they offer (I got the cheapest: $11/mo for $3000 in coverage). About deals: - During their offseason they might have the great $1-first-month deal people have been chatting about in the review. - When I went (June 7th), the best they had was their online 50%-first-month deal. I asked Peggy about it and she said it's because they're at 98% capacity and summer is their busy season (college storage). read more

Super frustrated with management at this location. Hours posted on the gate say access starts at 6:00am. Drove up this morning to find a sign reading that due to COVID-19 gate access hours have been changed to 9:30am? How does COVID-19 warrant changing gate access hours? I pay over $600 a month for my unit, and should be able to access the unit starting at 6:00am. This was a misstep by your management and hoping you'll return to your previous hours. In no way, can I see how changing your gate hours due to COVID-19 will flatten the curve. C'mon! Two thumbs down on this decision. read more

I will never use Public Storage again, and I will encourage everyone I know never to use Public Storage again. I only needed storage for two months and within a month of being there my storage unit (along with 7 others) were broken into in broad daylight. The person broke the door clasps (not the locks) to break in - meaning that 100% of responsibility should lie with Public Storage. They have no idea who did it, nor did they take responsibility. I thought at the VERY LEAST I would have been compensated for the month. This was not the case. I realize that the front office employees, and probably even the manager, have little to no power but the whole thing was beyond belief. The customer service was horrendous. Public Storage is a terrible company. And this specific public storage is even worse. read more

We cleared out my dad's storage but left an old hot tub and a queen size mattress. Peggy actually had the nerve to call my brother and rant to him about us leaving items (but yet she wanted to keep everything before? huh!?) My brother was nice enough and politely told her he'd see what he could arrange. My brother and I spoke about it and decided not to remove anything. Here's the thing, Peggy, you're a less than pleasurable person to deal with. I think we can all agree that you could use a good hot tub soak and a nap on a regular basis. Of course when moving you discover at the very last minute, oops, you do have more than you thought, as in the case with me and my boyfriend. I hopped on the internet for a place close by, called and Peggy answered, she was able to get us a locker immediately, stayed late and helped us complete our paperwork. Then the other day my key broke in the lock and she was able to assist with that again. Peggy is awesome and made our experience, truly easy and no stress. I stored my mother's belongings at this location for 5 years when I had to move her out of her house into assisted living. This location in particular was very convenient to get to, secure and clean! The communication with the staff has been very straight forward, friendly and efficient from the day I first moved in until the day I moved out.
