I have been a customer of Public Storage for a year now, and I have to say that I have been very impressed by the patience, friendliness, and expertise of the managers I have interacted with. In a previous review, I recall offering my gratitude to Karen for her helpfulness and gracious way of interacting. Today, I want to provide a shout-out to Mark, who was very respectful and personable in helping me fix a small mistake I made when I closed the door to my own storage unit incorrectly leaving the latch on the outside of the door. I was able to open the space up again and properly close the door, and Mark was helpful in the way he taught me how to use the latch correctly without making me feel bad for the error. We've interacted before; every time he was beyond courteous and easily conveyed enthusiasm for his role as a person who makes it easy and anxiety-free for people who often find themselves in a transitional life phase (which is why they/I needed to place things in storage). No one likes moving and let me tell you, I moved at the most inconvenient time (new years Eve) and like Murphy laws, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. So I went with another public storage vendor (because of pricing) and when I get there with all of my belongings, I find that the unit sold to me was too small. The only provider that did smart rental option who had better pricing and who's website was clear and easy to maneuver. Once I got to Public storage, I downloaded the app, I signed in and I was able to use my phone to enter. Super easy! The facility was clean, and conveniently the unit assigned was conveniently next to the loading dock and door. I'm sure this was just pure luck but I really did appreciate this as I was having a hard time with everything else. read more

I would not recommend public storage to anyone. I rented with them for 13 months, I moved out on the 3rd of the month. The office workers told me I was all good to go, then I received an email 30 min later stating that I owed the whole months rent. I told them I would be happy to pro rate those days. But they told me I had to pay the whole month. I will no longer use them for my storage needs. Instead I will use Uhaul or other competitive companies who know how to treat their customers. Uhaul gives you a 5 day grace period. And they Rodent issue at public storage is out of control. Mice chewed up a bunch of my belongings and pooped on everything. I will be making an insurance claim. read more

Very professional service, clean, well-lit, relatively safe, very available. Convenient to Methuen and Lawrence, Haverhill. Great for short-term in-transit needs. But it's expensive, twice what nearby storage units charge. So I'm moving out. read more

The district manager should have returned my calls after I left several messages regarding the rudeness of the Methuen site manager and the security concerns I had with the site. I would NEVER recommend this facility to ANYONE!! EVER!! The managers rudeness is well known among the customers and all of us warn newcomers to stay away!! The facility is rundown and dirty. Mouse debris is everywhere! The manager constantly has a sign on the office door informing customers when she will return but she NEVER returns on time. She left 5 customers in the rain last Sunday while she was showing a unit and she had a second employee with her?? This facility has a well known awful reputation and those needing storage units should definitely look elsewhere!!! I'll share this information on Yelp as well because I'm sure it won't be posted and upper management will just continue to ignore the unpleasant, unprofessional and unsanitary situation at this facility. read more

This place got large storage units inside the building which is nice. The problem is that you will have other renters who may have things that attracts vermin. This issue will appear at other storage units as well. Management must actively address it.. I hope they do... The front desk has a terrible problem lately with communicating when the staff will be back from going on a break or showing potential renters the place. They need to always post a sign for customers. This is just common practice and is a real pain point. read more

FYI bring your own lock!! If not they will make you pay for one of their own OVERPRICED locks!! It's mandatory to already have a lock prior to signing the lease. I believe it was about $24 for the lock. Also during the winter the property doesn't do a good job at keeping the doorway clean enough for easy access. There was also Ice on several occasions. Also the company isn't friendly about not charging you a full months rent even though you were vacated on the last day of the month. I would NEVER rent a unit here again. They have a 1.4 rating on the consumer affairs website for a reason. They don't try to make it a point to please and work with customers, it's just black and white for them. read more

We are renting a storage space here for a few months. When we signed the lease we were pleasantly surprised at how knowledgeable the young lady was. This location is very clean and convenient. I have been renting a storage unit for the past 3 years. Customer service at the front desk is almost non existence. There is never a person in the front office. Front doors are locked. They never answer the phone or return your calls. I've had no problems until now. I have not gone to storage during the winter. Two days ago I opened my unit. MICE FECES. Not one or two but my belongings are covered in them. Hundreds of droppings everywhere. I have never stored edible items.I emailed customer service. They emailed me back saying if I had any damages to contact the insurance company. No mention of fixing the problem of infestation of mice. Also my rental amount has been increasing every 4 to 5 months. DO NOT rent in Methuen MA. I'm getting out of this place this month. read more

I have been renting a storage unit for 7 months for $297 including insurance. I received a notice that as of 7/1/15 my monthly dues will be $345.00. I went online to check prices and for the same unit size is renting for $284.00 and half off first month. How can anyone explain that? I'm moving out!! Besides, the woman that runs the Methuen office lacks people skills. Shes very rude and looks down at you. YOU will NEVER get my business again. read more

Awesome place to store your valuables like my mothers antique furniture, as long as you don't mind Rat excrement all over and in your stuff. When brought up to the person at the counter I got a shoulder shrug and a "yup sounds right" Needless to say I will be moving my stuff out of this place before the furniture turns into a Rat hotel. read more

I hardly EVER write a review on anything. However, THIS storage facility has forced me to write a review. One sentence: STAY AWAY from Methuen Public Storage!!! We started renting earlier this year with the $1 first month and around $150 there after. After only THREE months (after moving in our belongings) they raised the price 33% to almost $200 a month. Bait and switch tactic! I called the national office and they essentially said it is what it is. Also, there are mice droppings EVERYWHERE. I have personally caught ten mice and disposed of them. When complaining to the front desk they just hand me mice trap packages. Lastly, the front desk person is almost never there! It sure makes it hard to get a cart when they are behind locked doors. How am I supposed to get stuff to my locker without a cart. We have decided to move out ASAP and move into another place which has a way better reputation. STAY AWAY or don't say I did not tell you so! read more

I've been renting space here for a few months now. It's not the cheapest place for storage in the area but it's clean. However the service is horrible, I've had nothing but poor service since I've gotten here. They keep the carts locked up in the office and the women holding them hostage is very unpleasant. I feel like she has very little responsibility so she makes it very difficult to get a cart? It's a storage unit, one of the reasons I rented here is the amenities and they are only available at very limited times and they are not easily accessible with out leaving your birth certificate, thumb print or first born child. Also if your in the back of the unit the door I between the main entrance and your unit is tiny! All the other doors are large to move large items but for some reason this door is not and it makes it very difficult to move especially with cart. You have to load the cart unload at the tiny door and reload on the other side. You could use the bay door however the drop from that is like ten feet so it's useless unless you have a large moving truck, not a rental. It is clean but the customer service is the absolute worst. I won't rent here again, I will spend my money elsewhere. read more

Facility in Pleasant Valley Methuen, MA is filthy. Toilet overflowing, trash not picked up in 3 days, only 2 dollies for a huge complex. Two. count 'em. absurd. doors don't properly close so security is a joke. It's been weeks since I've first noticed it. Told "parts were on backorder". Steps were not shoveled 2 days after last snow storm. Took mgr 2 hrs to get around to it. Expensive and not work the money. read more

The employees have always been kind and helpful. HOWEVER... the last two times we went to our storage unit, we found a dead cockroach!! What makes me sick is that if there's dead ones, there's live ones so now we are going to have to bug bomb everything when we move it out. Also....WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING OUR STUFF THE HECK OUT OF THERE!! We have had our unit there for almost 2 full years now and and instead of being good to their long-time customers, every time I turn around we're getting a notice saying they are raising the cost so NOW....we are paying just under $200 for a roach motel. read more
