I only gave it 1 star because it's not possible to give a ZERO rating. Pubic Storage's Airdrome location continues to send me billing for some unknown person who has never lived at my address. I have sent the mail back "Return to sender. No such person at this address" 3times. Several months ago, when I called the first time, I spoke to someone who took a report and supposedly noted it on that person's account. Today, I received another bill and called the second time. This woman with a very thick accent told me she would note it on the account. I told her that was supposedly done months ago and yet I still received another bill today. She told me that the account holder would be notified. I asked her how would they be notified because if they send mail it's only going to come to my home again. She told me it was up to the account holder to call and change the address. So I again asked how would they notify them then and would they call them? She told me it would be in "the account holder's system". I had no idea what that meant so I asked how would the account holder RETRIEVE the message?. She just repeated herself. I asked for a supervisor because I was making no progress and my question was not being answered. NOW GET THIS FOOLISHNESS: She told me she couldn't transfer me to a supervisor if I wasn't an account holder! (WTH?!) I said that makes NO sense. I said no, I want to talk to a supervisor because I've never heard of a business refusing to let someone speak to a supervisor who was not a customer. Then in the middle of my sentence and without warning, she put me on hold again. (RUDE!) But I waited thinking she was transferring me to a supervisor and after several minutes, I was disconnected! Their customer service sucks! That woman was either lying or they have the most asinine policy I've ever heard of! That entire interaction with her was disrespectful to me and let me know that if I ever have a need for storage space, I will NEVER use Public Storage and definitely not the Airdome location! read more

Management claimed i came in late last night so I gave them a call. when i expressed my worry to them because I was not there after access hours they forwarded me to management that sent me straight voicemail. Their website is also not working and I actually cleared out my space yesterday to cancel my rent. Tried to call about that today too and said I was going to forwarded to somebody. I was on hold for ten minutes and ended up hanging up instead because I'm assuming nobody is trying to pick up the phone again. The website they have right now to cancel online is not letting me log in and when i tried to send a change password to either my number or my email neither went through. I've been trying to get help from them for about 45 minutes and achieved nothing. Do not rent with them. read more

I am disgusted with the corporate management of this place. They've raised my rent by more than 30% per year over the last two years, but I figured that was just the business model for self-storage and I put up with it. However, for the majority of the time I've rented here, there have been major security issues and despite multiple complaints they've gone unaddressed. The property managers try their hardest, but they don't get the support they need either. I finally hit my breaking point after seeing that the security door to the inner units had finally been repaired only to be broken once again less than 5 days later. Management is clearly making enough money to pay for repairs, so they clearly just don't give two cents for their customers' safety. read more

I chose this location over several other public storage and I'm so glad I did. The street access is super easy (no need to go on Venice) and there's not a lot of surrounding gridlock. Really easy in and out. The first time I went there was only like 1 car in the parking lot. There's probably about 50 parking spots total. Gate is super wide with no overhead restrictions so if you were coming here with a moving truck you'd be fine. I used the app to access the gate and it worked. Hallways are clean and I'm super happy with my first floor unit. Definitely recommend this location. read more

My rent is going to be increased next month from $219 to $300, a 37% increase for a 7.5ft X 10ft unit. That same unit at the Airdrome location is being offered for $249 to new customers- see my images attached. I have been a consistently paying customer since Dec. 2019 with no late payments, and this is what you can expect from Public Storage. I have contact regional management today, Oct. 25, and expect them to correct this terrible customer service. At these times of inflation greater than the last 40 years, would hope companies would have better sense. I will expect their response and will update. read more

I have rented from multiple Public Storage locations and return to this location because she is organized, competent and very quick to respond with any questions I may have. She makes the move-in process seamless and is incredibly helpful. My only suggestion to corporate would be to add more carts, two carts for a bustling storage facility is not enough. read more

Couldn't be any happier with my experience at Public Storage. As far as the units go, they are fine. Nothing fancy but they do the job. It is their customer service that really stands out. I was really creeped out by one of the elevators and Magali at the front desk offered to take the elevator with me and walk with me to the unit for company. Several weeks later I returned to move out after the office closed. She was cleaning up the grounds and remembered my name. I was really surprised! She very kindly answered my questions, even though the office was closed. I will definitely be back in the future if I ever need storage space again. A+ customer service. read more

I have had a unit in this Public Storage for 2 years and no problem - until now. One star is ONLY for the person who got into my storage unit and stole most of my belongings. I really do not care about the tv, chairs etc but what I care about the most is my father-in-laws watch and my mother-in-laws scrapbook/notebook from the 1950's that were in the empty safe. (why in the safe? because I thought if there was a case of fire or water damage those valuables will not get destroyed.) They are both deceased now and those mean more to me than any tv, chairs, rugs.... Please, please, return them to the office. No questions ask. Otherwise, rot in the hell. read more

This was two weeks ago. Im moving tomorrow, just to find out hat Public Storage can cut your lock and give you a new one for 22 bucks but it takes 3 days notice!!!! So the IDIOT at this location didn't tell me that they could have done it for 22 bucks now I can't get my bed out for 3 days unless I want to pay my own locksmith 200 dollars. Raised my rent $40/month after only being in the unit 5 months. That's almost $500 more per year. BE AWARE OF THIS on their contract when you sign. Only option is to move to a cheaper unit after they raise the rates. Also, elevator often not working. Terrible lighting. Badly kept up. This is the cheapest storage option in the area! Although I wish there was lighting inside the units for the price, the units and facilities themselves are so clean, safe and easy to use! Even though I did my booking online, I was able to go to the office to ask for help with equipment and questions about the facilities. Over 2 months after my unit was robbed the insurance company ORANGE DOOR INSURANCE you know the one that PUBLIC STORAGE jams down your throat when you initially rent a unit is owned by a subsidiary of PUBLIC STOAGE DOES NOT PAY CLAIMS. Stumbling onto the perpetrators with bolt cutters and cutting locks off of the unit across from me promptly notified property manager and NOTHING WAS DONE, when in fact my message wasn't even read until hours later Yes this is the same property manager that was stealing from customers. Cemented my decision about Public Storage nationwide, if not at least in California. I've had 2 bad experiences with PS in Northern CA. This time, I had just rented a unit (vacating apt. so crucial time), put the 1st batch of stuff in. Went back after couple hrs., now THE GATE WOULD NOT OPEN!! Apparent malfunction. Customer Service was of no help, no after hours assistance provided. Left a message for district manager Antonio, NO RESPONSE yet so far!! There were also 2 USC kids with 2 huge trucks behind me, with movers. Poor guy had to park the trucks somewhere & pay the movers overtime for another day. Ridiculous. Needless to say PS 3 strikes u're out. If this storage was not close to my apartment and I was not in a such a rush, I would never have chosen them. Hopefully this will be the last & final time I rent with PS. read more

When I first visited Public Storage, I was impressed by its clean units and guarded areas. However, upon return a few months later, I've discovered that about thousands of dollars of electronics was stolen from my unit. While PublicStorage promises that they don't have keys to our locks, they also don't have security cameras in the public storage facility at all (only in the parking lot). When I reported the loss to them, they weren't particularly helpful. I filed a police report and filed an insurance claim, but this is downright unacceptable. Public Storage said the father had to physically come to the storage facility, fill out paperwork and have them make a copy of his ID, to be able to rent the unit. That's right, fly to LA from Boston to rent a storage unit!!! They absolutely refused to help me or offer any solutions and one lady even hung up on me (and I wasn't even yelling!). Public Storage suggested I pay for the unit and I could then put the father on the access list. I'm just trying to help coordinate to move his stuff, not acquire a monthly payment! I just met her once, while renting but even when I was making the unit vacant, I had a very good memory of her. This review is going to stay up until everything is fixed. I've been using this place for barely two weeks and I am already thoroughly annoyed. In two days, there has been a total failure of all the security and I'm not confidant any of its going to get fixed soon. More details to come, depending on how long they take to fix their security. The people that work the office are good. But they are low on the totem pole and have to tow the company lines. It's everything else that is horrible. read more

This is a petition to require surveillance cameras operating on any Public Storage facility that is legally licensed to operate business. It should be required as a matter of course to protect the safety of the customers that place and withdraw their personal items from those storage units and for consumer protection to deter any possible thefts or bodily harm of the items placed in the units themselves. My experience at Public Storage located at 5570 S. Airdrome Street Los Angeles, CA. 90019 is an example as to why this action needs to be taken. My storage unit along with several other tenant's unit was recently burglarized with several personal items missing. Three days before my unit was burglarized, I alerted the storage manager that the locks on my door to the storage unit had been tampered with. As a result of tampering, my key did not work upon my attempt to enter the unit. Instead of the issue being immediately addressed, I was told I would have to fill out a form which I did February 1, 2017 and wait for a property district manager. In addition, I was told that that this district manager would not be able to come to the facility until 3-7 business days. On the night of the robbery, itself between 7:00 p.m. on February 1, 2017, I was told there was a witness who called the police, which took the police hours to respond, further allowing other storage unit tenants on the premises at that time the access to go through my unit and steal my belongings as well. On February 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. the next morning, I arrived at the facility and was told that my storage unit had been broken into. I inquired as to why was I not contacted immediately by phone from the public storage faculty, or district manager who were there when I had arrived about the incident. I then proceeded to call the police department myself to give them a report. One hour later, the police arrived and escorted me to my storage facility. Appropriately, he drew his gun at the unit, advising me to stand by to ensure that it was safe, therefore discovering that my storage unit lock was bolt cut on the storage floor and belongings were ransacked and missing. We then proceeded back to the storage office and spoke with one of the worker. The officer then asked to view the surveillance camera. Upon looking around, the police officer asked if there were cameras inside of the storage building. He was told no. Upon asking why, he was told because the building is old. The officer went on to view the footage. The officer stated he was hoping to catch those responsible on the surveillance cameras. The officer noted that he was not sure if they were operating properly because it only showed one blurry visual of one gate entrance and didn't show the other exit gate. The building had no cameras working inside of the storage units. From all this, I am left to feel unsafe going into the storage facility knowing that there are no cameras causing me to vacate my storage unit. On that one camera, it showed a storage occupant and another person asking them to put in their code so that they could exit the gate, which the occupant did. Innocent storage tenants renting a unit are thinking their valuable property and lives are safe behind locked gates and security cameras. We did not know the only cameras working at the facility are at the front gate office. What if a tenant happens to come onto the property to access their storage unit and it's being burglarized, where they stumble upon the burglar and the tenant is harmed or killed because of the burglar not wanting to be identified? Innocent people are killed during a burglary. And, also there would be no way of knowing who the criminal would be because there are no surveillance cameras on the public storage facility. Another problem is an unsecured fence. A broken piece of wire holds part of the fence together and someone cut a hole in another part which is how thieves gain entry. They are going in there with bolt cutters. These criminals are cutting locks or the metal part holding the lock. They are even renting units, then smashing holes through the walls and climbing into adjoining units in order to steal everything. These criminals knew there were no cameras back there and that there was no security, they could come back there anytime they wanted and that they had all the time in the world to do it. This is why public storage needs to beef up their security, and stop allowing transients to sleep on the property in their cars, which is loitering and against the law, and put cameras down each aisle and install electronic keypad locks on each unit. read more
