RENTER BEWARE OF CRAZY RATE INCREASES AND MOVE OUT POLICY! At first I was happy with the ease of move in and cleanliness of the facility but that all changed when it was time to move out due to substantial price increase after only 3 months. I rented mid month and paid a prorated fee plus an admin fee and renters insurance. After 3 months they sent me a notice that my rent would be increased by $50 the following month. I moved my belongings out and contacted the facility saying that it was clean and empty. I just needed to remove the locks. Unknowingly, I had to use the access code to remove the locks and I did that on the first day of the month and received a closing bill for the entire month because I accessed the unit. They said they don't prorate the month and I'd be responsible for the entire month even though I wasn't there and they rented it to someone else. I tried contacting management and they refused to remove the charge. I tried to fight it and they sent me to collections. I feel the $50 increase per month after just 3 months on a $172 unit was unreasonable AND their "policy" of no prorating when you move out only when you move in is not in the customer's best interest only a way for the corporation to gouge their customers for more money. They turned around and rented the unit charging the new customer for the same month that I was responsible to pay. Very unhappy customer read more

This is a follow-up as my first review of Public Storage at the Traffic Circle, Long Beach was mysteriously removed after a few days. I've been renting here for only 4 months.and my monthly premium went from $252 a month on auto pay all the way up to $339 a month. I've rented many times at privately owned rental storage facilities, never received such a substantial rentincrease in such a short period of time. What a scam. I received notification of a second rent increase in just over a year. When I got my 5x5 unit (Dec 2023) was paying ~$100/month. This next increase puts me at $156/month. There have been no improvements to the space I rent, it has not gotten larger, I don't have more access then I had before so I'm not sure how Public Storage justifies these increases. In top of that, I've been trying to get in contact with someone from PS to cancel before I am charged for next month and it's damn near impossible to get someone on the phone. I will be going in to cancel in person and remove my belongings that same day to avoid any additional charges. Explore other options before renting here! read more

We started renting a 10×10 unit in Sept 2023 they are nice climate controlled & secure however after only 6 months our rent has jumped $50. The other issue we have is the office hours are listed but no one seems to be in the office so it's BS and they have the carts locked in the office. SO when we try to get a cart we can't. Terrible facilities. Lights are broken half the time and you have to flounder around in the dark. I tried to tell the employee about that issue and she wasn't apparently aware she was getting paid to work there. She then argued with me, saying the lights worked. Zero customer service. After several months of using a unit at the Public Storage the outer traffic circle in Long Beach CA. Location. I finally was able to completely empty my unit. But my joy was short lived... Today I was locked in the elevator at the Public Storage not only for The third time in a week but today I was stuck in there for almost an hour. Yep, 45 minutes. While I was imprisoned I called five separate Public Storage operators (using their 888 956 5846 #) begging them to get me out!!! I was consistently told there was nothing they could do. What if there had been a fire in the building? What if I had had a heart attack and needed medical attention?? The Public Storage operators I called insisted that I still owe some money on my unit, which I did. This in turn meant what though? I had no intention of NOT paying. But, in what world does that give Public Storage the right to hold me captive in an elevator for 45 minutes?? Or for any reason at all? However, in the seven months I have rented this space I have paid every month except this month. (I'll get my paycheck check at the end of the week.) And, I am fairly certain that holding me hostage for almost an hour in a nasty elevator isn't okay in any world!!! Well, finally I gave up calling for help. ( by the way I did call 911 and they were going to come. But I cancelled when the two ladies rescued me ) I settled in to my chair and just waited for someone to open the doors to the elevator. Two ladies finally did open the elevator door to find me deflated and crumbled in my living room/ elevator chair. I'm pissed off that there was absolutely NO humanity or concerns from Public Storage. My piddly $200 needed to be waived after my traumatic claustrophobic elevator experience at Public Storage. DO YOU HEAR ME!!! There was some apologies but not enough. Shame on you Public Storage. Well, I didn't want to write a negative review for this place. But I just had a pretty shocking realization. Someone has been urinating next to my unit. They know this is a problem and they do nothing about it. You would not believe the quote I got from the front desk. "I hate it when they do that. A pee bottle is one thing, but when they pee on the floor?" Yeah. So that's a thing. Beware. I know that rent is ridiculous in Long Beach and LA. I know homelessness is a problem. But I'm not okay with my storage unit being used as a urinal by someone who may or may not be living in the unit next to mine. WTF. read more

So I've been a customer at the Public Storage on the circle in Long Beach for about 6 or 7 years. I rent a 10x20 for work. I'm a fragrance rep. I understand that they occasionally increase the rent by $20/$40 but since the pandemic l, they have increased it twice $100 each time. That's quite steep. The managers at the facility have tried to request to skip an increase but I've been denied it every time. I was told that if I move out, the unit I've been renting will go from $700 to $438 for a new renter. That makes no sense to me. I currently pay $611. My unit was racked out, all 10x20 of it. They are now making me move to a 10x17 for $358. I didn't want to have to move at all. The customer service from the higher ups, where ever they are, is unbelievable. It sucks that I pay on time every month and still have to endure the hefty $100 increase every 6 months. And I'm going from the 2nd floor to the basement. I would not recommend this place to anybody. I rented a 10 x 13 and ended up with a 9 1/2 x 11 1/2 half. I wrote them an email to reduce my rent and they refused this happened on the holiday weekend so tomorrow I will call the district manager and see if they change their mind. Sitting outside the office during open hours now as I type this, waiting outside for someone to come and unlock the door as they have my drivers license (in exchange for a cart) and haven't returned to the office in over 30 minutes now. I've called 5+ times, knocked, walked the property (of the floor I'm allowed to access). This is unprofessional, if you're going to hold ID's then you HAVE to have someone there to give it back. I advise avoiding this Public Storage location due to inadequate customer service. After losing my keys for the lock offered by Public Storage for my unit, I was told to hire a locksmith. After the locksmith arrived and tried to check in, the front desk representative asked for their certification, which was not previously mentioned. Despite having ID to prove my unit ownership and the locksmith being licensed and from a reputable service, the front desk made the process difficult. I needed to contact the corporate office for resolution, and after some back and forth, the locksmith was finally able to open my unit. The front desk staff showed a lack of customer-oriented attitude, which is very important for a business that will be storing your belongings. The locksmith noted they had never been asked to show their certification to open a unit previously. read more

I originally signed up online through 'one month for $1' deal on their website. They didn't honor it (I followed up both locally & with corporate office - both ignored me; gave no explanation on false advertising). They lock up carts when they close the office so move in or out before 5 if you need a cart. And never try to access your rented unit a minute past their posted hours - they'll call you and "remind" you of your contractual obligation to only use facility during certain hours. Terrible service. Also every time we go: there's an annoying beeping noise from dead battery on one of their facility monitors (fire? Carbon monoxide? Camera? Don't know - just keep hearing that beeping sound that we hear on our home alarms when battery is low). We chose this location for proximity to college. We'll be looking elsewhere ASAP. read more

I went to take 3 box's to my storage today and was treated with total disrespect from the man working there. He was not the normal guy and he was very rude and treated me absolutely horrible. Not only was there no carts available because only 2 seem to be at this location so I waited 35 minutes. I sat by my car and then he came up to me telling me not to yell at people. The guy and the girl that work here at the desk are both super nice. I paid for a temperature controlled unit and it did always stay cool inside. Even through the summer. Always kept clean too and only met friendly people also renting here. My only issue is it is in a busy area so there is ALWAYS cars or trucks parked in both the loading spots. Dropping stuff off and loading it is always a hassle cause you can't park in front of the door. Also the carts were often all being used. And they raised my rent by 35% in one month. They were nice and did call and offer to work with me with the price but I had already moved everything out so it was too late. Even with the minor issues. If you aren't dropping off and taking stuff out often this place is great. I felt like my stuff was safe here and it's kept decently cool. I would rent with public storage again. read more

Two 10% increases and I haven't even been there one year. started at $299. 3 months later $335, now I just got another increase to $375. I think this is bait and switch at its best. They dont offer a yearly lock in. They ask quite a few questions to get the right size and special for what you need. The first month is $1 plus admin fees - so it's usually only $25 with tax included. Helpful Hints: Pick a unit not located on the ground floor - it's cheaper than one on the first level. Bring your own cylinder lock. It'll save you a few bucks. The only real con - odd office hours - 930 to 5 M-Sat However the actual hours you can access your unit is 7-9pm. Which is the most compared to any facility in the area. They do have a good assortment of packing materials from wardrobe boxes to China/Glass separators. And tape and boxes of course. The alternate con for people like me - located on the scary ass Traffic Circle. read more

This place is clean and secure, but the customer service is really abysmal. I rented a storage shed a few months ago and had little difficulty moving in. Yet on a recent visit in the middle of the day, I arrived to find all the carts chained up (to avoid theft) and no one in the main office to hand out the keys to the carts. The sign on the office said they'd be back by 12:30, but I got there at 12:45 and there was no sign of activity. Thus, I started carrying out some heavy items because I couldn't afford to come back later. After carrying out most of my belongings, I meet a worker in the basement who is sweeping the floor. I ask her if she has a key for the carts. She says she does, but tells me she can unlock it for me after she finishes her sweeping chores!! My advice: stay away. Is it really worth $130/month when you can't even get a primitive wheeled cart to help you transport your belongings? read more

I just recently rented a unit and utilized the phone reservation system (allows you to see availability at the location, then they location gets in contact with you to schedule an appointment so you don't have to wait once you get there) This process couldn't be easier. Sara helped me on moving day and she was very efficient and knew all of the answers to my questions and gave me a rundown of the process and a tour of the facility. You can access your unit from 6am-9pm with your own gate access which is very nice, everything is very secure, clean, and they have some moving equipment for you to use. I would highly suggest to use this location for long or short term storage! I had a unit here for just over a year and almost never had an issue. The woman who signed me up was Kim and she was great! When I ended up having questions towards the end of my contract Sarah and Cynthia were super friendly and helpful. When I realized I was not going to have everything out by my move out date they let me know it's only $5 a day for the 10 days following your move out day. 2 problems I had: There were 3 consecutive time tried to go in and speak with some one about my unit only to find a "will be back at this time" sign hanging from the door. When I returned at the appropriate time the sign was still up and had now been pushed back 2 more hours. I tried again the following day only to find the same sign. *frustrating* The price of my unit went up $30 about 6 months after I started renting. I never got an explanation as to why. Only one singular email notifying me that my next monthly balance and all the following balances after that would now be $189 instead of $160. I was living out of the country at the time and found it impossible to contact anyone to ask/complain about the price increase. Overall I had a great experience with renting here. It's a storage place, so how excited can I get? They don't serve delicious food. Or any food for that matter. But it's reliable, and friendly, and clean. The manager I dealt with, Juan, was very helpful. I realized early in the day that I would need a bigger unit. He offered to research other places nearby with bigger units. Then, later that day, another unit at his location became available, so he contacted me, and set it up. That extra care is very much appreciated on moving day.
