In just four short years the rent doubled to over $104 for a climate controlled 5x10 unit! Annoyed, I decided to check out the competition and found StorageMart. It was not only closer to my house, but cleaner, in a better area, safer with secured garage docks and carts for unloading, and best of all it's more reasonably priced at just $57 (close to the price I first paid 4 years ago at the other place) with the first month free! As an added bonus, Don, provided friendly and courteous service. He didn't just hand me a paper with gate codes, he walked me through it and showed me around. I would have been fine on my own, but the extra service was appreciated. If you think storage is storage, you're wrong! Don't become a complacent sucker just because you don't want to deal with moving your stuff. Places like Public Storage apparently take advantage of that and raise rates often within the same year, hoping you'll just go along with it. Do your homework and find out there's a better way to store your items. For now, that place is StorageMart, but don't think I won't be keeping them honest. Oh yeah, I'm watching you StorageMart. I have never been able to find someone here during open office hours. I have lost my key and need to get into my unit, but I can never reach an actual person to come and let me in and exchange my lock. The automated telephone system will run you around in circles and it doesn't let you reach out to your property manager . I've never missed a payment and they are quick to charge you late fees, but their customer service needs a serious overhaul.

That's all fine after using the truck I filled the truck up to exactly where it was(15$) . And fearing that I might get charged for "not filling the truck back up" I approached an employee and made sure that I wouldn't get charged. She hopped in the truck and checked the odometer. She seemed a bit unsure but then said that there wouldn't be any problems. I double down and asked if she was sure. She said yes. So I left reluctant that I still might get charged. I got my bill that I was expecting immediately . Thirty minutes later I got a 30$ charge for gas. Livid that I had been strait up lied too I call customer service. The man "Robert" was helpful in trying to resolve the issue. Now I am supposed to wait two days to get an answer if I'm going to get my money back. My advice is to take accurate photos of the gas gauge before and after your use of U-Haul. Just seems like a sneaky slimy tactic to squeeze as much money out of customers. Rent at your own caution.

Cameras appear to cover every angle and the climate-controlled areas maintain a consistent temperature with no humidity issues. Access is provided through multiple wide doorways with spacious elevators providing access to the upper level. The facility provides various flat moving carts that are conveniently stored just inside the doors. The loading/unloading area is well-lit and very close to the doors. Getting signed up is super easy. The paperwork process is quick and hassle-free with no hidden fees. **Pro Tip: Get your rental started by starting your rental via their website for the best price and to take advantage of their move in special. The pricing is very reasonable and a great value. A clean facility, robust security, and amazing staff--I feel like this is the best storage option in Overland Park!

This is my very first experience with a self storage business, but so far, it has been outstanding! Our key criteria for selecting a space were location, cost, size of space, climate control, and ease of access. This location of StorTropolis had it all! Signing up was extremely easy and quick! They offer month-to-month pricing options (love the flexibility!), and we got a great storage bay that has super easy access! They have large dollies on site for you to use, which is really handy in not having to truck around your own each time you arrive! Maybe my favorite thing is that they have a large, interior loading/unloading dock that you can pull into so that you can use your space any day - no matter the weather!

Two months into the lease period my monthly rate was doubled and they had been charging me for both insurance and the smart sensors. I can understand the mistakes and errors can occur but the worst part of this is ther is not anybody onsite (Scott) who says that they can help or provide a refund. Scott gave me the name of Ashley who supposedly could help but has kept telling me they are looking into my issues but no refund has been offered yet. To make matters worse the just increased my rate to over $300 6 months in to the lease. I would not recommend Storetropolis especially the Lenexa location. Bad value, awful service
