I've been renting here for a yr because I had to leave the country & couldn't return until Jan 12th, I informed them of this when I 1st rented the unit. I rented a 10x30 for my house stuff & car. They charged me $384 then raised the price to $474 while I was gone. I received no notification by email, text, or phone. They said they mailed it to me, asked them how did they expect me to get my mail while I was gone. They didn't care. I only found out about the increase when I opened the app to pay. (I had NO mail from them in my pile of mail when I got home). My $384 was due on the 1st of the month, I went to pay it the day before via the app. When I saw that it'd been raised to $474 I called & reminded them that I was overseas, & received no notification, & asked if they'd keep it at $384. I paid the $384 & waited for the response to my request, I was told I'd be notified w/in a day or 2. I didn't get a response back until 1 wk later. On the day of the response I paid the balance of $90 to bring my payment to the $474. I was charged a late fee of $93.80 because it wasn't paid all at once. I called back the next month when I went to make my rent payment via the app again when I learned of the late charge. I reminded them that I was told to wait for their response. They wouldn't waive the late fee. I told the clerk that I couldn't afford to pay that late fee until I returned. He informed me that as long as I made the monthly payment of $474 my belongings would be safe. So I made my payment. The next month I went to the app to pay & I now had a charge of $183.80 (they said it was partial rent, insurance & the late fee that was owed) I said I do not owe $90 because I paid the monthly payment in full. I had to call corporate & they did not help me either. They said they would look into it. I said I am not paying that $90 I do not owe & I won't pay the late fee until I returned home. Because I would not pay it, via the app I learned that my stuff was slated for auction. So I immediately called to find out why. They said we cannot refund anything or waive anything until the balance was paid. I again said I only owe the late fee. I went ahead & paid the $183.80 against my will because I could not afford losing my stuff nor could I get to the storage unit because I wasn't returning to the states til the night of Jan 12th. On Jan 13th I went into the office & spoke to Juan. He said he couldn't help me & his manager Cody & or corporate would look at my request to return my $90. It's been over a wk & I have yet to hear from them. After talking to Juan I went to my unit to find that both of my locks had been cut & they had put a lock on my unit even though they told me as long as I made the monthly rent payment my stuff would be fine. I made the expensive $474 a month rent either early or on the day it was due every month yet they still did this. I told Juan I can't believe y'all cut my lock when I made my payments & I don't have another one & they owed me 2 locks. He said I can only give you 1 lock...each lock cost $19.99 from them...so I lost $19.99 for the 2nd lock - both locks I had purchased from them when I 1st rented it. So they still owe me the $90 & now $19.99 for the 2nd lock. I went online & reserved a new unit because I have to find a place to live now that I'm back & need to keep my stuff in storage until I do. I reserved another unit at the online price & Juan told me I couldn't get that rate because I was already a customer even though I would be moving units, his reason contradicted what the guy I spoke to on the phone told me when I booked it last month while I was overseas. Juan also informed me that even if I got the lower rate they would be raising it too. $384 was already overpriced but raising it $90 to $474 a month when I had no ability to come move my stuff elsewhere while I was abroad is just robbery. I do NOT recommend them & 1 star is too many. I feel cheated & robbed & I am owed money from them they've yet to repay me. Do NOT rent from these robbers. They don't care about the customers or your situation. read more
