I had a similar problem arriving at another U-Haul facility and was told my 10x10 which i reserved was not available. Also had a go around with the attendant. But again it was at another U-Haul facility. This facility got a 5 because Lupe explained things to me. He took the time to try to find me a storage facility AND arranged for me to drop the equipment off at their facility. THANKYOU. In addition when i got back to the facility to drop the auto transport the manager asked if i still needed a storage area. She did not have a 10x10 but got me into a 10x8. Again i recommend these guys (and lady).

Well, if "market conditions" are causing you to drop your prices on new customers, why are these same "market conditions" increasing the storage fees for current customers. I'm no business major, but that sounds extra scammy to me.... If you need storage for more than the free month they offer, look somewhere else. Business practices are so bad that they have to offer people free storage to walk in the door, and then the world of no-notice rate increases exist. Plenty of other storage options in the area. Reviews of other Extra Space Storage on Southern Dr nearby got blasted in reviews for same business practices. I wonder if this is common with all Extra Space locations. Extra Space, extra BS price increases. That should be their company motto.

What I found were a number of places nearby that have their units indoors meaning I don't have to stand in the sun when needing to access my unit, cleaner and newer facilities and same or lower price than your advertised discounted price. I decided not get bent about it and go in and talk to them. The lady that helped me out was super forthcoming about the issues with transitioning to the new owners. And that insurance was accidentally auto added. She was able to remove my additional charge. My rate also went up to what I'd consider not awesome. We chatted about the options were. When I first signed up I was at $68 per month for a 5x10, there were 2 increases by the former owner so I was at $89 inside of a year. My new rate with US was $117 including the $12 for insurance. She offered to lower my rate to $90, or move to a new unit on a lower floor and my rate would be $57. I took the latter. I'm super happy with my options. I'm grateful for the info that was provided. A not so great situation turned excellent. Great customer service.

I paid the entire amount about a week before traveling to Arizona specifically to clean out my storage unit. When I arrived on September 2, I discovered my unit was still locked by the facility and I couldn't even get my key into the lock. At first I genuinely thought I was doing something wrong. I contacted the office and was told I needed to pay my bill in order to access my unit, so I ended up paying another approximately $200 just so I could get into my belongings. The problem is, that new bill wasn't even considered late until September 6. I was there on September 2. I had already paid the nearly $500 past-due balance a WEEK earlier, so the facility's lock should have been removed and I should have had full access to my unit. It appears they simply failed to remove the lock after I brought my account current, and instead of realizing and correcting their mistake, I was told to pay another bill that wasn't even late yet before they would let me into my unit. That is completely unacceptable. I traveled all the way to Arizona expecting to access property I had already paid nearly $500 to regain access to. On top of this, my rate for a 10x10 unit has repeatedly increased, sometimes by around 30% at a time every few months. I was never told when I rented the unit to expect increases this frequent or this significant. I understand late fees and restrictions when an account is actually past due. What I do NOT understand is paying my past-due balance in full, having the facility fail to restore my access, and then being required to hand over another $200 for a bill that wasn't even late in order to access my own property. I would not recommend this facility based on my experience.
