There is such a roller coaster of emotions when renting a storage unit. Things you cannot part with yet do not have the room to keep in the home. Calling Public Storage was an uplifting experience if that can be said of renting a unit. Both the Main Street in Mesa and the Greenfield locations went out of their way to make sure I had the best offer at the best price. I feel like my prized possessions are in a good place. read more

Nice facility but extremely overpriced. After 6 months they raise the rent for some rentals. My daughter and I rented units at the same time. Mine went up $50 after 6 months and hers did not. There was a day another woman and I needed help from someone during normal business hours and there was nobody in the office to help either of us. read more

Storage Unit is actually quite good. Nice location and it's very clean, no bugs and temperatures were even. But this is easy to find around here, so not a differentiator. I know it's easy to find because I easily found a better deal elsewhere. Main reason for my review is the price increases!!! Expect ~ $10/mo increase every year. Then this year's increase was more than $20. So in 3 years, my rent went up almost $45/month! I guess that's the downside of no contracts. They have the right to raise prices, so I exercised my right to fire them. I stayed because it was so close to my house, but enough is enough. I moved to another place for a 50% larger unit for $20/mo LESS (not a promo rate) To an equally clean, nice location. And when I gave notice today, I was offered 6 months at $30 less to stay...grrr). Seriously, you'll offer me $180 to stay (which was more than this year's price increase ???) To bump me back up 6 months from now and even more again at the end of year. Not falling for that. (oh, and they don't pro-rate on the moveout either. Be careful, the ladies at the front desk will make it sound like you can move out whenever you want and nod along when you ask about pro-rate like I did in December in person in the office. But what they really mean is you can move out whenever you want because you paid for the whole month. read more

Horrible rate increases. We have had our storage unit for over a year and last month it increased to $180+/month. I called to inquire as to why and the girl on the phone read a script"yes ma'am we rent our units month to month." When I stated that it did not answer the question as to why she repeated the statement and added "we have periodic increases" . This was our 3rd rate increase. The 1st was expected because the promo time had ended and it went to $117. From there $140 and now to $180. As long as you are certain you will not be there more than 6 months you should be good. Anything longer and they will gouge you. :( read more

I tried to reserve a unit online. After filling out the information and hitting the button a few times, nothing seemed to indicate it went through. So before I went over to the actual business location, I called to make sure. The obligatory automated system greeted me. I then selected the option for renting a storage unit. The person on the phone that answered said they could not help me. I wondered how this could possibly be since the automated option seemed pretty clear? They transferred me to a specialist. They could not figure out why the online reservation was not going through (apparently if you use a cell phone or Mac it doesn't work, which begs a few Qs...), but offered to patch me through to a third person that may be able to reserve it over the phone (but probably not for the online rate). I was then transferred...you guessed it...back to the automated system. So, glad I had this experience right out the gate. Now I can go somewhere else. read more

Renter beware! The office staff at this location is awesome. The location is good. BUT beware... I've not even been in a unit for 6 months and they just increased my rent by $20 a month. I call to talk to someone and I got the runaround. First I called to the office who told me they couldn't do anything about it (although online it said they had one for $7 more than I was paying and the walk in new customer would be at that rate too), they gave me the customer service number (voice response system is not user friendly) who told me they had no control and that the District Manager, Nathan, could do something. I called him. He returned my call then proceeded to talk to me as if I couldn't understand supply and demand and as if I was an idiot. He also told me that he couldn't do anything about it. So, what I've learned??? Absolutely no one can do anything about anything at Public Storage and they can and will raise your rent any time they want. It doesn't matter if you have been there a few months or a long time. They will do it and there is nothing you can do about it. Also, don't try to move to another one, you only get 1 time as a new customer at ANY of their locations and you can never be new (to a different location) again. read more

I certainly would not rent a unit here. They are more than friendly and helpful when you are looking to rent a unit, but good luck dealing with them when vacating. All of a sudden the friendliness and pleasantries go away. Make sure to read through your packet of information in its entirety because they will find any loop hole possible to charge as much as possible when leaving. If you choose to rent a unit here I wish you good luck, I won't be back. read more

Brand new location, easy month-to-month storage, very clean, professional, convenient location (Greenfield & Baseline). The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the hidden fees and extras that aren't clearly laid out on the website. Firstly, they require you to buy insurance (starting at $11). Second, initiation fee. I've never been a fan of businesses that have an initiation fee (like gyms, which will usually wave the fee if you heckle them) but they do, so be ready to pay. Third, you have to buy a special lock. Luckily I had my own cylinder lock from a previous storage unit, otherwise I would have had to pay an additional $20 (bringing your start up total to nearly $60 after tax), despite the "***$1 pays first months rent***"promotion. read more

Very clean storage facility. My only complaint and it's very annoying is the lack of carts. Most of the storage is inside. They have hundreds of units but only have like 2-3 carts.. right now I'm currently at my unit with a truck load of stuff with only 1 other person here but there is no carts. Leaving me to making 50 small trips back and forth to my truck, and my unit is not conveniently located near an enterance. It's in the middle. Come on public storage... $100 bucks a month for a small unit and you can't buy a couple more carts!! Update: I've spoken to management about the carts and they have purchased more. The problem is people keep stealing them. read more

if the two women at the front weren't the people running this location it would be 5 stars but these women act like children. they love to play games and waste your time. they will leave you voicemails implying someone stole your belongings to just say it was a ruse to get you to call them back. very immature and i would never let scammers like them run my business. also they won't tell you upfront what the costs are, they don't tell you about small fees. read more

Staff is great. I've been using the facility for two years now. Looking to move out asap. It's definitely a bait and switch situation. First year my rent went up 50%, 2nd year about 30%. I understand rates need to go up but 50%?!! I wonder if they give their employees 50% raises? I wrote to their main office and was told it was comparable to what others are charging. But they were not charging comparable rates when they got me in the door. And I doubt very much they will lower rates if demand drops. I would much rather give my money to local businesses. read more

I'm very disappointed. It's a bit expensive but since it's near my home I am willing to pay the extra for the convenience. Unfortunately, their maintenance has much to be desired. Their overhead lights have been out for over three months now, making it very difficult to see in the storage. I have asked multiple times to have it fixed and time and time again been told they are on it....pure bs. read more

This was an awesome experience to store my personal belongings. From the first phone call I spoke with Debbie to walking through the door. Debbie was kind, friendly and very helpful. She went above and beyond in helping with renting me a small unit for only a couple of days until the larger unit came available. She loaned me a lock for the 24 hour time line to move my stuff from the smaller unit in to the larger unit. When signing the paper for the larger unit Debbie and Jim were great. Regarding Property # 29214 (Greenfield & Baseline) - Was referred there by Shirley from the 2929 E Baseline PS Store due to our requiring a "True" Climate Control facility, with Shirley stating how it was new and letting me know the space I required was available. This is a big company, not just mom-and-pop storage business! They know their business, and they know how to get your money. This is my second posting. I was lured by the 1-dollar the first month and somewhat low monthly rent after that. Little did I know that after 3 or 4 months the rate went up. So I gave them a low rating. Someone called me and tried to bribe me by lowering the rent to what it was if I would just revise my rating. I never got to do it, and they never lower the rent. And here I am, about a year later, and the rent went again! I sure can't wait to move my stuff out! read more

First ... it was so much easier to rent a unit from Public Storage than to find this 'review' section on their website! Second, but certainly most important ... setting up a rental unit with Anthony was not only easy, it was enjoyable because of how friendly, easy-going, and helpful he was. And if he was not sure of one of my questions, he easily asked Holly to confirm the answer. (many men have a problem with asking a woman for back-up ;) I have to say, I absolutely feel the time I spent in this particular office was worth my effort of stopping in and asking questions ... I walked out a while later,having rented a storage unit and I only went in to ask a few questions! Anthony was extremely helpful and patient with me and my list of questions and Holly was patient and funny. I appreciate 'funny' as being one of my needed coping skills.
