Very clean and well-lit. Jonathan in office is personable, knowledgeable and friendly. Pleasure to deal with him.

Our unit was originally mis-assigned. We were assigned to a unit already in use. We told the…read moreoffice about it and it was supposedly corrected, but then I received notifications that my unit was unlocked. When I arrived to gather my belongings, my key did not fit the lock, and I learned that the lock had been replaced with a facility lock. Thankfully I came during office hours or I would not have been able to get in. Once the unit was opened by the facility personnel, we found that MY lock had been CUT OFF and was laying inside the unit. Therefore, someone had entered my unit, and replaced the lock and NEVER NOTIFIED ME OF IT. We were shocked and terrified that we would be missing our things, but so far we haven't determined anything missing, but there was significant damage.... Our boxes had been infested with mice and several items ruined including towels, socks, bedding, etc. I considered demanding a refund for the three months of payments I had made, but we were exhausted and simply relieved that we still had our belongings. If I had it to do over again, I would have done so. Needless to say, we will choose another storage company for next year.

I tend to think long and hard before leaving a bad review of a business as a small business owner…read moremyself. But the travesty of poor business management I experienced needs to be information available to others - if only so they know what NOT to do when renting storage units. Never. Assume. Anything. Always confirm everything and GET IT IN WRITING. First, the unit ceiling leaked for several weeks each time it rained after we first moved in, including antiques. I was just lucky I had to go get something from the unit and found water all over the floor and on a few items that fortunately for me did not suffer from being wet. It took weeks to arrange for it to be repaired, including convincing staff that there actually was a leak from the ceiling. Had to take pictures and send them in order to get them to believe me. Then when I moved out of the unit - 4 weeks after the unexpected death of my husband, so not apparently not my usual thorough self - I had 2 10 mins discussions with office staff in person about moving out and what I had to do to clean it properly. I went into office and told staff that I was done moving out and cleaning, and asked if I needed to do a 'walk thru' with them. They said no that they would take care of that later. I was not given any further instructions and NEVER told that if a lock was left on the unit that they would keep charging me for it. No one contacted me to advise me that there was a lock still on the unit - turns out my movers must have put it back on when we were leaving. Even so, they never said all locks had to be removed. The monthly charge was going to a rarely used business account my husband had that I only reviewed at tax time for any business transactions. Come to find that the unit charge - $331 - was coming out every month since Nov 2019. Funds that I thought were going to be available to help pay for some desperately needed business expenses - gone. All because EZ Storage could not pick up a phone or send an email back in November to check on why I said I was moved out and cancelling my unit, but there was still a lock on the door. As someone who has run all kinds of businesses over the years, that is such a glaring and irresponsible oversight that I can only recommend that NO ONE ever use EZ Storage as I assume the same practice is used at all their facilities. Staff were always pleasant and helpful, tho not fully informative it turns out. So 1 star for the staff. Outcome was a refund of this month's unit rental - out of kindness presumably. Apparently EZ Storage uses the rule "the customer is always wrong."
