When I tell yall this is the worst storage location I have EVER been in. I'm currently stuck in this building trying to move my things. They do not have carts available for people to just grab, they require that you leave an ID there. THEN you have to walk it down yourself when they literally have easy access THROUGH the building, unless you even have the room to fit in your vehicle/truck. If the office is not open then best of luck to you, because you're in for a JOY RIDE. The elevators will not work if you've held them open, so I spent a wonderful 25 minutes trying to make it work. It's disgusting, spiders everywhere, hot and humid, and the app works half of the time. If I could leave zero stars after this whole debacle I would. read more

My God, the worst storage facility that I've ever had the displeasure of renting from. I'm actually kind disappointed that I cannot rate lower than a 1. I have used this facility for a few years. I wish I had the luxury of time and money to move sooner but unfortunately I had to deal with it until I could afford to have people help me move. Office was always closed (even during business hours) most of the time the employees that were present were extremely unhelpful. They suggested that I call the manager to complain about the price increase (from $115 to almost $400) the inoperable elevators, the temperature which was always hot in this temp controlled facility, to a fee that they charged me for moving from one unit to the next which never happened (the employee assigned us a unit and when we went up to put a lock on it, there was already a lock on it and it belonged to someone else so when we went back she reassigned us a different unit that was actually vacant and then I got billed for moving units. This issue by the way, NEVER got resolved despite multiple calls over the course of three years! By the way a manager NEVER called back. I'm so happy to be out of that facility. I'm not saying all Public Storage facilities are bad because I did rent from another one in Steele creek for a few years and it was an extremely pleasant experience. This particular location is complete trash and I hope no one else has to deal with the ridiculousness like I did. read more

It was a great run but once they jacked up the rate to over $65 each for both our spaces we we're glad we moved into a larger space which eliminated our need for storage. They were very great and attentive when it came to starting and ending the service. read more

Climate controlled storage for my daughter's garage full of shtuff. Since she's going to be staying with us for a bit and there is definitely not enough room for nearly all of her possessions, we've secured a small unit here. Lots of comic books and such, so it's important that it not be exposed to the same vagaries of climate that it would be elsewhere. The facility is a little creepy when you're the only one there, so I'd really recommend not being by yourself. Though yes, they do have cameras. TLDR; As a long time renter, asking for light bulbs to be replaced after five months yields no results, dirty facility, lack of secure feeling and not a simple return phone call. I've been a long time renter at this facility - I've had multiple units at the same time over the last 4 years. It is rare that I voice a complaint, in fact I've gone to bat for the staff numerous times - when there were complaints that the building wasn't swept, but I saw it being swept a time or two. However, after not having adequate lighting in my hallway again, I finally asked in November for the lights to be fixed. Granted, they advertise "At Public Storage, you'll always find... Well Lit Facilities", you would think that they could easily in 6+ months find time to have these bulbs replaced. After several months of going to my unit and finding it just about pitch black, I asked again, and I can't get a simple return call back to even say the work order is in progress, etc. Even if they said it's six months out, I think a simple call back or email would be acceptable. I've lived through some rough times - this specific property has had it's ups and downs - from people living in the units (and working across the street at Burger King) to the ongoing trash issues (people will leave anything and expect it to be just magically picked up, but unfortunately it ends up piling up at the loading door or blocking in front of the dumpsters). I have left multiple voicemails for the management and district manager to return a call to let them know it is a safety issue, and I've yet to have a return call or any type of acknowledgement. To keep this from being just a negative review - The location is in a desirable location, it's easy to get in and out of the building and the units. Pricing - seems to be about average, maybe higher than normal - their staff seems to be quota'ed on selling moving supplies. But beware, they will increase the pricing without failing every six months to one year on the dot. What would make me happy again? When there is customer service - I understand that the staff who work there (which I brought up previously that I didn't think it was acceptable for a single person to be working in a large property as this is alone showing units - that is a safety issue) do not do maintainence. However, if regular sweeping and pest control and maintenance is being done, wouldn't they also note that multiple lights are out? I'm not asking they on the property fix it, but is it really that hard to send an email saying "we're in receipt of your work order - it's on our list and we hope to have this resolved in 6 months?" It means I can plan to bring in my own battery powered floodlights (which I did at the tune of $175). I've notified them multiple times it is a safety issue and they fail to address this. read more

I've had a terrible experience with this company and will never use their services or recommend them to anyone. Long story short, my parents moved to Charlotte so I set up a storage unit. On move in day, they found the unit was occupied by a homeless person. They immediately found another unit for us to use but the manager was unable to successfully vacate us from the unit with the homeless person in their system and they are still showing we owe rent for this unit....I've spent countless hours on the phone with multiple property managers who try to escalate the issue. There has been high turnover so I'm constantly re-explaining why we don't owe that money to a new manager...at one point they sent the money to collections and then took it off once explained and employees verified my story but still no one can/will remove the outstanding balance. I don't feel confident it will get cleared and expect they might try to send to collections again. The issue is upper management of the company. The property managers understand and don't have access to clear it and when they escalate no one above them will address the issue. read more

As a long time renter, I finally scheduled to move out on 1/31. My code was used on 2/1 for the last time and they're charging me the whole month of February. Their excuse is that it's month to month and cannot be prorated. I have been a public storage customer at this location for 6 years. Each year they raise the prices and never got any special treatment or discounts, which I didn't really expect any, but paying for a whole month just because my code was used the very first day of February is not right. This company is big and it's hard to fight the big dogs stealing from the little guys, but I'm trying. The manager Jacob Oswald has yet to call me back. Very disappointed! read more

In 2020 our unit, as well as most on the floor , were broken into with a lot of out stuff stolen. This went in over a long period of time with many units experiencing theft. And then one year later they have the nerve to go up on our rent just like they have every single year. It is unacceptable that you think you can continue to upcharge me when you cannot even provide adequate security for my things. Also, in our last two visits, including the one to move out of the unit, there are no moving carts available. That should be standard in a storage unit. read more

We had a unit many years ago at this location and the service at the time was HORRIBLE. The manager and associates back then were quite rude and had no customer service skills whatsoever so we decided to never use Public Storage again. Fast forward a few years later...we needed another unit and did not want to use Public Storage again, but they were under new management so we thought we'd try one more time. I'm so glad we did because Jason and his crew have been nothing short of AMAZING!!! The atmosphere is so customer friendly that we choose to come in and pay our bill instead of paying online just so we can say hi and see how everyone is doing. They always remember our names, are genuinely interested in helping any way they can, all while maintaining a professional demeanor in services offered. They take pride in caring for the facility and it's ALWAYS clean and in working order. We can't recommend this location enough. Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life from this company. I rented from this location for nearly 2 years and had nothing but problems. There were no working lights in the hallway where my unit was located for over 6 months. I spoke to the property manager multiple times, and was told that a work order had been submitted. I left multiple messages for the district manager but never received a response, so I got a ladder and changed the bulbs myself. On another occasion, the outside door would not open and I could not get in to my unit during normal hours. I called the property manager and she told me she would be there to assist in 10 minutes. I waited 30 minutes and she never showed up, and then would not answer my calls. I tried to call the corporate office for assistance, but was hung up on by a representative. I then submitted a help ticket via email but never received a response. I finally was able to vacate the unit last month. I was charged for a full month, even though I left on the second day of the month. The original property manager had told me that the final bill would be prorated as long as I gave a 30 day notice, which I did. The current property manager tried to help me by filing a dispute, but told me that it would not be honored until I paid in full. I paid the full amount and continued to follow up with the district manager several times. To this day I have never received a response or acknowledgement of any sort. This place is close to the house with convenient hours and is clean. I think we don't have the smallest unit but it's spacious. It costs about $75. The one complaint is they make you but insurance which is not disclosed in anything we read about before going there. It's $9 a month for 2k worth of insurance which sucks. read more

This place is 100% incompetent. My first warning should have been the slightly rude phone call confirming my reservation. We came at our reserved time (between 3:00-5:00pm) and the office was already closed even though it was only 4:00pm and the office was supposed to stay open to 5:00pm. So we drove the 15 minutes back again the next day and the office worker stated that our reservation was cancelled since we did not show yesterday. When I told her that we did show up yesterday she said that was her lunch break...at 4:00pm?! Come on, just admit you went home early. I would have gotten over this unprofessionalism if she would have re-entered the reservation, but instead, she told us we would have to go home, reserve it online, and them drive the 15 minutes back. We went to another Public Storage down the road and they confirmed the first girl could have easily renewed the reservation. Pure laziness and incompetence. Trust me, go anywhere else but here. read more

The lights outside rarely work, the bathrooms are disgusting and overall look around the facility and see how dirty it is. We've gone to extra space storage which is well maintained and very clean. Employees at Extra Space are much more qualified compared to ppl at Public Storage who are just not very competent unfortunately. Often it's a who cares mentality read more

My experience was not good from the day I moved into my unit. I recently reserved a storage unit and went to the storage center to complete my paperwork. At this time, I was also shown a larger unit in case I needed more space for my furniture. I told by the employee that I was still considering the larger unit, and she quoted me the price difference. She then proceeded with my paper work and asked for my license and credit card. As she handed me paper work to sign, she then told me it would only be an extra $12 to move up to the larger unit. When she told me that, I asked that she go ahead and upgrade my unit. She then told me that she could upgrade the unit but I would not qualify for any promotions that came with that unit. When I asked why, she told me it was because I was already an existing customer since my information was put into her computer. I immediately stopped signing my paperwork and told her we had not even completed the transaction, and why didn't she explain this before processing my account. She was very unapologetic for not relaying this relevant information and told me there is nothing that could be done at that point. She did give me a customer service number, but proceeded to explain that they would not be able to fix the issue either. When I contacted customer service, I was given the district office manager's contact information for assistance. I called Jack Coleman and left a voice message on his personal voicemail. I requested a call back for assistance with my unit as I knew that I would be moving in this weekend. He never called back so I placed a call to their headquarters, and was given a regional manager to contact. This person was out of the office for the next few days, and so again I left a message. This person never called back, but Jack Coleman called the next day and left a voicemail. I called his cell phone back within the hour and left a message and he never returned the call to even see what the issue was regarding. I just thought this situation was handled very poorly from the lack of communication during my registration process to the unreturned phone call at the district level. Just a poor overall experience for a first time customer. read more

First, the good. We found the staff really friendly and pleasant to work with. No issues there at all. There ENDS the good. Even the friendly staff is constrained by Public Storage's horrible systems. We had our rates raised automatically ABOVE the market rate after 3 months, even though we were told any change would be after a minimum of 6 months. Nothing the staff could do about it. The building is a disaster. It's filthy. The loading dock area is always dirty. The bathrooms are filthy. Trying to get a cart is a joke - there are always people hanging around the dock waiting for one when it is busy. And the carts? Undersize, rickety, plastic-decked things. The hallways are swept occasionally, but are often dusty, too. The elevators are trashed, right down to the broken, zip-tied celing panels (some of which are missing). The light outside our unit was out for TWO YEARS, despite asking maintenance over and over again to fix it. Lighting is completely inadequate in the units. There are no overhead lights over the units themselves. The panels to the hallway and between some units gaps - you can see, and even reach into some of them! (including ours) Again, asked to have it fixed - never happened. Trash on the wire mesh ceiling over our unit. Complained - never removed. Dumpster overflowing all the time. Why did we stay? We waited for something better. Morningstar finally opened a new building in the South End. Night and day. We're not new to storage, having rented storage units all over the US, including Public Storage. Our experience with them in Nashua, NH was stellar. This Charlotte location, however, was the worst storage experience we've ever had, hands down. Go elsewhere! read more
