I am typically not one to write reviews, but this past Sunday I was at my favorite place to enjoy some food with a beautiful scenery, accompanied by my parents who were visiting from out of state. Unfortunatley I feel as if my stay was berated by SPARTAGIRL S, who thought it would be a good idea to bash my favorite pub on yelp. Well, let me talk a little bit about my experience. The food was amazing! Servers are quick with the fullest intent to satisfy customers needs. Reviewing SPARTAGIRL S's review made it clear that they were the huge party a couple of tables down that had KIDS RUNNING LOOSE. A father took their child to the bushes to URINATE! They brought their own bottle of wine and were asked respectfully to return the bottle to the vehicle and they mother F'ed the waitress for telling them to do so. They were very loud and obnoxious people making these challenging times of COVID-19 even more stressful to innocent people just trying to get by. Pub 517 is a great establishment/restaurant/ an awesome place full of the most welcoming friendly people! I would recommend PUB 517 to anyone!!! read more

My FAVORITE place to go to eat. Date night, family night or bringing out some friends, this is our go to! Food is always delicious and fresh and staff is fantastic. Highs: The lobster, and the steamers (especially the steamers). Steaks are good too. Lows: The one drink minimum, even for designated drivers (bottled water can count as your drink), no plastic. Twice I've ordered a burger and both times it was overcooked to my taste (I like them very rare). Prices aren't bad but by the time you've paid a reasonable price for two lobsters and clams plus two drinks you're out a good chunk of change. Tip: In our case, I'm the DD and my friend likes to have two beers with dinner. If she orders two beers, I have to pay for bottled water. What we do is order one beer each ("She wants hers now, I'll have mine when you serve the entrees") and we both order tap water on the side. She drinks two beers, I drink tap water and we save the price of a bottle of water. read more

The view is beautiful if you sit in the back section of the restaurant. I got the Eggplant Parm platter which was served in generous-portions and delicious. Steamers are great of course, but overall everything was a bit pricier than expected. For 2 people we ended up with a bill of $32 before tip. Mandatory 1 drink minimum (they charge you lowest $2 for a bottle of water) per person was annoying. Service was mediocre at best - perhaps the waitress was having a bad day. I was expecting to get a great value for dinner and did not get that. The place is a little overrated but I would good back as it's laid-back and very casual. One of our favorites for many years has just kicked it up several notches with a gorgeous outdoor dinner patio and fire pit! Food is outstanding! Nice hidden place in the country. When you first walk in, it's intimidating. All the bikers at the bar turns around to see who walks thru the door. The back room is lined with taxidermy on the walls. I just try not to look at the heads staring at you. If you like steam clams~ this is the place to head to. 2 doz for $10. Or $20 for two doz clams & lobster or steak or fish or crab legs. Burgers are very good also. Cash only and one drink minimum. Staff are always friendly. FYI, if you're craving for the clams, call ahead to make sure they are serving that night. It all depends your outlook when it comes to this restaurant. I would pay 35 to 50 dollars for a good steak or seafood dish. I give this pub 4 stars just for the fact that I don't know anywhere where you can get steak, lobster, backed potato for two and walk out paying under $50.00. This is NOT a fancy place. Stuffed animals are all over the walls and some people may not be able to sit and eat with dead animals watching over them (I know people who have walked out). Lobster bisque is a great! Second time here. Problems both times. Last time. Clams were cold. Lobster was sent back because it was total mush inside, Steak was so tough i though i was chewing my boot . Sent it back too. Waitress apologized said they bought bad seafood and steak, and were having problems. Waitress had attitude like " oh well, not my problem". All they care about is turning tables. Get you in and out. This has got to be the worst experience ever here. Such poor customer service and waitress was awful. Worst food I have eaten in a long time. Ordered the steak because of course they are out of everything at 5pm. Asked for the salt pepper and garlic rub just in case they don't know how to make a steak properly. Steak comes out tasting like dirty meat. No flavor what so ever. Asked the waitress if she out in to have the garlic rub put on and she says yes they definitely did. I tell her there isn't anything on it and she proceeds to argue with me about it being on there. Like did you watch them out it on and cook it and plate and and hand it to me. Nope because if you would taste it you would be able to tell there was absolutely nothing on it at all. Don't argue make it right. At least apologize and offer me something to put on it. She asks if I wanted a take out container I said because my dog is the only one that will eat it without what was going ordered. Rude ass people. I just can't. I don't want a free meal I can afford my own damn food. Never will go there again. We usually love Pub 517 - we prefer it over Pub 199. But tonight we went (6 adults, a 2 year old and two 1 year olds) and it was AWFUL. First of all, the price increase is absurd. $43 for snow crab legs and 2 dozen clams is crazy. The service was horrible. Two people in our party ate their steaks with their hands because by the time they brought the silverware they would have been cold. We had no napkins the entire time and our server never came back to see how the food was. Then, when we tried to separate the checks (which yes, we should have done in the beginning) she said "I can't I already have it in one" and then put a menu in our face and said "just to make your life easier" and STILL took 15 minutes to bring us our bill and said "this includes TAX AND GRATUITY." Excuse me? You're giving yourself a $70 tip for what? No where in the restaurant does it say "gratuity included for parties of xx or more." The only reasons I'm giving it 3 stars is because I enjoyed my food - but I don't know that I'll be back after tonight's experience. read more

This wasn't my first time here, but it was my first time ordering an entire meal. The food came out SO fast, but I felt like we had enough time between courses. We had to salt our own butter, but other than that everything was fantastic. The seafood was so fresh, its almost amazing how cheap the prices are for the amount you get. Went to meet up with friends who are regulars at the bar and was treated absolutely horribly by staff. My shirt had a slogan with a curse word and I was told it was offensive and I needed to leave as it was a family restaurant - no problem. While I didn't agree with the rule and was only in the bar area, I immediately respected their wishes and began to head to the door. While on my way to the door I was swarmed and screamed at by staff within inches of my face. I cannot believe how poorly this situation was handled, especially by their employees Melissa and Linda. I was never even given an option to change or cover my shirt with a sweatshirt, just immediately attacked despite following their instructions to leave. I'm appalled by the treatment I received at Pub 517 and hope those women learn how to deal with similar situations in a more appropriate manner. read more

We've been coming for 14 years and always enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and service. Recently they have decreased the quality of the food while increasing prices. An example of this is providing a buttery like substance in place of real butter with steamed clams and lobster. Were told this is all that they serve and that we can we bring our own stick of butter which they will melt for us in future visits. Poor decision by management to reduce the overall quality and experience for a small savings. Unfortunately we will not be returning. read more

Last time I visited this place I was too small to even remember. Wanting to see how it's changed I stopped by recently.. Never again. If I knew I would be spending 80$ for dinner I would have went to somewhere with a much better experience. Not only were our entrees poor, cold and expensive, they charge for refills. It seems underhanded and greedy to keep asking if the table wants another drink if you haven't made it clear they aren't free. Besides the fact that the only water available is by the bottle so you can't even save that way. The only thing good about my experience was the penne vodka. Wow where do I begin. First off I want people to know that just about every other Friday I bring my family here for dinner and normally drop at least $200.00. Never had a complaint before. Tonight was my husbands birthday so I asked him where he would like to go for dinner and of course he picked Pub 517. Now normally we always get the clam and lobster dinner but tonight he wanted to be different so he ordered the steak dinner. He asked for his steak to be rare. When it arrived at our table my husband ate his baked potato and corn first. The waitress returned to our table and asked how everything was and we told her fine. As she left he moved onto his steak, first cutting away a large piece of fat and pushed it to the side of his plate and he noticed that no juice flowed out so he imedinetly cut into the center of the steak and noticed that it was way to over cooked. There was not even one drop of blood on his plate. I tried one mouthful of his steak and it was like chewing on leather. Finally the waitress returned and we told her. She went and talked to two managers for us. Upon returning she said that there was nothing they could do. So we asked to talked to the manager herself and she claimed that he ate over half which was a complete lie. Then we went to the owner to talk and he said Quote in his own words. " If I gave a free meal to everybody that complained I'd be out of business" REALLY? WOW there must be a lot of other people complaining. It's not as if we wanted a free meal but he could have at least took a few dollars off the bill. Though very dissatisfied and disgusted we still gernerously tipped our waitress. Pub 517 is way more accommodating than "199" ! 1. You can make reservations ! 2. They do have coffee ! 3. The waitress will remember you and treat you right ! 4. The owner will remember you as well......not so at 199 . There is a review by a Bob C. from Northern NJ in the Internet - this guy is way off. I like the comments here and be part of this group. So , let me fall in and tell you : "Everybody goes there" ! You see the Steel-Horses out for a stop during a Saturday / Sunday-Ride, as well as folks who frequent the best restaurants anywhere. They must know something this fellow does not. Remember as to why one goes there.........fun, food and what ever else suits you......"kick-back and relax" and meet people comes to mind ?! Their's is a very friendly clientele. I have to say, I am partial to this place, I love their giant lobster and succulent clams, they are as good as it gets ! Their Baked-Potatoes are great, too. - No thrills so, but would you expect that anyways ? My friends and I hold the records of Lbs eaten at any single seating and we did it way more than once. My discriminating friends loved it and will come and eat there anytime they're in town ( if one likes their food being from New Orleans, that'll say something.......). Now, let's talk food and drink.......Both are good if you like pub-food such as burgers, wraps, fries, steak, potato-skins, onion-rings aso......however, as I wrote - if you like clams and lobster (steamed Seafood), then you are definitely in the right spot. The wines are good and go well with the menu. If you have a special meal in mind, call and ask about their seating.....they will bend over backwards to make you happy !!! :-) What's on tab is equal to any restaurant or watering-hole, again complimenting the food. Great food, reasonably priced and quite fun of an atmosphere. After dinner, belly up to the bar and there are folks of all kind. All seem to be happy folks looking to have a good time and very pleasant, and make you feel like no stranger. Bar staff and wait staff all seem very friendly. The one thing I liked about the menu was it was not one-hundred choices, it is somewhat limited but what they cook they have mastered. I had the king crab legs and steamers, outstanding! I tasted my Wife's steak, it was very good. Definitely going back. Oh yeah, pretty cool place with a true country setting back behind a corn field with several horses corralled up in the back behind the building, nice to watch. I can typically judge a kitchen without even seeing it, if the bathrooms are clean, typically the kitchen is likewise clean, bathroom was definitely clean.
