After my normal massage therapist went back to the mainland, I needed to find another spot so I gave PT Massage a try. It's located in a random shopping center across from Thomas Square. They keep the building locked so you have to get buzzed in--or at least I did because I parked in the back area. There is a ton of parking. The place itself is located on the second floor, suite 217. The space itself is pretty cramped. They sort of subdivided massage rooms within the larger office such that my table was at an odd angle. It doesn't really matter since you're lying down but the therapist had to negotiate that lack of room. I chose Kylie and she was great. The website had little bios and her pressure level was listed on there as like 3-5 or something? I assumed that was the highest so I picked her. Good choice. If you like a lot of pressure, Kylie can hook you up. She was digging in places especially at the top of my shoulders that needed some love. And she did this scraping thing on my deltoids that I loved and she worked my glutes/hips really well. Tons of improved range of motion when I left. Overall I thought her technique was great; however, I wished she had spent a little more time in a few areas. I guess I could have spoken up but I'm used to therapists going by feel and then focusing on an area until there's a release. With Kylie, she focused on an area and gave a lot of great pressure but didn't hone in on big trigger points until they make that crunchy feeling of release into smaller ones (or whatever that is). So that's why it's a 4 star not a 5. Otherwise a fantastic massage. I get them every couple of weeks so I'm very particular in what I want and like. She did this jaw thing that was just pain, not the good kind. Won't be doing that again lols. I am 100% sure I'll be going back to Kylie and once I have been there a few times, I feel like I'll be able to communicate exactly what I want a lot better. There's sort of a getting to know your therapist period that I haven't had in a while since I had been seeing my previous one for like 1.5 years. Anyway, if you need a legit deep tissue massage where stuff is actually worked on rather than the relaxation type stuff, I'd recommend giving Kylie a shot. I did massage with cupping with Practitioner Hanayo. The venue is cute, clean and inviting. Upon arrival, the staff was friendly and greeted me right away. Hanayo is a great therapist. They use essential oils if you like and also provide a foot bath before your session begins. They ask you your pain levels before each session and they will focus on your problem areas. Rear ended on Kinau. My neck got stiffer as days passed. It was hard to turn my head and movement became painful. Needed help to get out of bed to the point of tears. Thank goodness for PT massage. This is not your grandmother's massage! As a former licensed massage therapist, I'm pretty choosy about my bodywork. I have seen three different therapists at PT and all three have been excellent. They all checked in on pressure regularly but didn't feel the need to talk to me except to confirm my comfort. Though each therapist had their own style, all three delivered very deep pressure (you can have less if you prefer) and the overall style and focus of the place is therapeutic and sports massage. If you prefer a traditional Swedish massage, you would want to make that clear from the beginning. There is meter parking on the street and paid parking in the lot. They also do a foot bath prior to your massage which is a really nice touch and tends to center you before your session. Finally, you actually get your full 60 or 90 minutes on the table (not including your foot soak and change time). That is a real treat as at many places I've visited, your session is shortened due to change time etc. This is a great place for people who are looking for regular therapeutic massage as a part of their overall wellness routine. read more

I came here a couple of weeks ago for a prenatal massage. I can't remember my masseuse's name... (sorry!)... but she was very relaxing. She asked if I wanted to be on my stomach or my side. I decided to try on my stomach since the last time I had a prenatal massage I was on my side and it just was not very fulfilling (although it very well could've been the masseuse at Plumeria Spa). I usually like deep massages (not pregnant) and she was actually fairly light. Not like she was just rubbing my skin, but not deep at all. However, whether it was her abilities or me being pregnant, I still felt so relaxed and my lower back and hip pain was gone at the end of the 1 hr massage! I was a bit skeptical but let her do her thing since I have no idea what typically goes on in a "prenatal" massage. It turned out fantastic. She flipped me on my back and put a huge wedge under my legs. I told her that sometimes I can't stay on my back (6 months pregnant) for long without feeling uncomfortable and she said to just let her know. However, I felt just fine and stayed on my back while she massaged my legs again, even my belly (ever so gently), and gave me an awesome massage/accupressure or whatever it was on my neck! Now some may say that you should never ever lay on your back, but I've read that if it's cutting off the big vein in your spine, you will definitely feel it and mostly depends on how the baby is positioned. I will definitely get another prenatal massage from PT massage again and May is 25% off month so that means $75 for 1 1/2 hrs!!!! I give them a 5 star even though I'm not really sure if this IS as good as a prenatal massage gets but when i enter with lower back and hip pain from the baby and exit without any, I say 5 stars!! read more

It's been a while since I've been to PT massage to none of their fault... As soon as I walked in, memories flooded back about the massages that I have experienced prior. Now, I was seeing someone new and was pleasantly surprised with her professionalism, attention to detail and knowledge about the body. Kelsey was just AWESOME!! The only reason I did not give 5 stars was, while the atmosphere is very comfortable and reminds me of being at home, the fragrance that they use is a little strong. I am a little sensitive to different odors and there are very distinct smells that barrage you as you enter the door. I am none the worse for it so I will be returning! I came here after getting a recommendation from a friend to see Andrea. My shoulder had been bothering me for a few days and I knew it wasn't going to go away by itself. I called on a Monday morning and scored an appointment the same day, thank goodness. Andrea was a true professional and talked to me about what I wanted and needed that day and really helped work the kinks out of my shoulder. She used the right amount of pressure and did some cupping on me as well (which I love). I will be back if I am hurting and I also just need to get back into regular massage and this was a good reminder. I booked an appointment on my day off, and went. It's in the medical building across from Blaisdell Center. The waiting room was kind of weird like as if I went in to see a psychic, but once I got used to it, it was kind of like visiting your aunty's house. While I was waiting for my therapist, they gave me a warm foot bath. Fortunately, I had a therapist (sorry, forgot her name!! A cute therapist with short blond hair.) that had just done a long distance marathon as well, so she knew EXACTLY what kind of pain I was in. She worked on my body focusing on my back and legs and mmmmmm it felt good! Plus, the price was at such a reasonable range. I like that. If I want to pamper myself for a "spa" experience, this may not be the salon I would go to, but for my massage after my runs and intense activities, PT Massage would be the choice for me. read more

I use Yelp a lot and I figured I should finally post a review. Monica at PT Massage is an incredibly gifted massage therapist. PT Massage a great place for maintenance massages, those massages you get on a regular monthly or bi-monthly basis. It's a welcoming and simple place. Not too frilly, but their therapists are awesome. Prices are good too. Monica is really one of the best massage therapists and I've been many therapists. She's skinny but don't let that fool you- she is still strong. Monica is so thoughtful, caring and nurturing. I really can't say enough about how awesome Monica is. She uses a variety of techniques and her massages are incredible. Tish, the owner of PT Massage is very welcoming runs a nice place. There is validated parking in the back and there is street parking as well. It is also close to downtown, so it makes it easy for an after work massage. Absolute worst customer service ever! I called in and I spoke to a Amy on Saturday, August 24. She told me that they only had a 6pm appointment available to come in. I was inquiring about a cupping massage. I was also told that I would get a 25% discount for being a first time customer of this location. I called back multiple times starting from 4:25pm with no answer. So since I live close to this place, I decided that I should just drive over. I came in and I waited in the lobby for over 20 minutes. Then a lady came out and just stared at me and didn't say hello or anything. I said oh I called in a while ago asking about a appointment and she said well I am busy at the moment assisting another person you're going to need to wait. Then after assisting the customer out, she looked in her book and said there is no appointments for 6:00 PM. Then stared at me and said well I can book you for an appointment on Monday and I said no because I requested for a 6:00 PM appointment today. When I told her that I had called multiple times she looked at the phone and said well I don't see any messages. Then I responded yeah I didn't leave a message because I came in but I did send a Yelp message which I never got a response to. She just said sorry you have to go, then walked me out because she says that the doors are locked and I won't be able to get out. Worst service ever by Hannah. The owner does a great job in hiring therapists who are aware of body mechanics and truly enjoy helping people. I also like that they use Young Living Essential Oils during their treatments. Came for a birthday massage my husband got for me. And I had Andrea which I recommend having her. On the beginning of all of it when she was massaging me (I like it pressured hard) I felt like I was already in heaven. Out of all the massages I got she was the only one who could put me to sleep that's how good she is! She always made sure by asking me if I wanted it pressed harder or softer and asked how I was doing. At the end of it all she told me where the points on my body that needed to be stretched out and where I was most stressed. She also gave me tips on how to make it better which I never had anyone tell me before. I got prenatal massage just yesterday. My lower back just killing me. 7 month so far. Masseuse, unfortunately didn't catch her name, blonde girl, was terrible. During session I asked her 4(!) time for more pressure, but she just continue to rub me with palm! She didn't use her finger at my back, not even once. Not before or After session,nobody offered water, but she asked how i feel, I honestly said, that massage was terrible, but she covered with her teacher, that he told her to do this way with pregnant women, without any pressure. I confused with this phrase, bkz it was my fourth prenatal massage, and at another places, was good enough , but I was looking something near by Where I Am living. So she told me continue to see another specialists( what I'll def will do, or she thought I come back to this place?) I really think she was tired and lazy. I was last patient, they closed at 6pm, she done at 7:30, I went down, the same way I came there, but every exit was close. This girl she even didn't explain me how to get out from this building. So with my big bump I have to walk to the stairs again and look for exit to get out. I love PT massage. The prices are hard to beat even at regular price. They have deals and discounts all the time. I personally always use the prepaid packages. I have to say it's quite different from your spa or resort type massage. They take the time before the massage to find out about you starting with your medical history and previous ailments/surgery. They always make sure all your problem areas are focused on. Best of all, I never worry about the time cause whether it's a 60, 90, 120 minute massage that's exactly what you get. Their pre-pay and special months help keep it affordable. I find that in fancy spas all you are paying for is atmosphere. Your massage is light and you feel good while getting the massage but the effects don't last . If you want a massage that 3 days later and longer you are still feeling good and knowing the effects this is the place to go. Parking is complimentary and always available. Also if you pay for a massage for a certain time that is what you get. I.e. if you pay for an hour you get the full hour on the table in massage. No skimping on time. They call the day to confirm and remind you of your appointment, you can buy a session or a package, and although people say a massage is as good as the therapist, I must say, I found a great 'therapist' in Alyssa (also the owner of the business) who has been able to help me get relief from my stiff shoulder or sometimes aching lower back.
