In 2026, there is no excuse for this -- patients should not be forced to listen to hold music endlessly just to book an appointment. I get it my line is being cut off and it's not like anyone's fault and I was having a hard time hearing the conversation but this guy wouldn't even care. Be very careful when taking your child here. Our son had an appointment for hearing and I forgot her name but she's an Asian woman that was literally a used car salesman. Trying to sell us a hearing aid for our son when in fact he didn't even need it. Honestly it was gross how bad she was, thank god I can smell a snake from a mile a way. She had my sons mother convinced that we needed a $3,000 hearing aid. Naturally I was skeptical and wanted another opinion and come to find out that we were getting hustled. Oh yeah and they tried to charge us like $50 for the visit even though our insurance covered it. I called them out like wtf is this $50 for? they didn't have an answer and apologized, I was like so if I wasn't on top of this and just gave you my debit card you would of just charged me for no reason, ridiculous. I called 4 days in a row trying to reschedule my appointment I'm always on hold for more than 40 min almost an hr each time i call !!! ive requested call backs and left vm for someone to call back i received only one call back and i missed it but ive called again and ofc im on hold forever this is very unprofessional and frustrating !!!! its ridiculous I even think social services even answer before this audiology place ! If I could give less than 1 star, I absolutely would. I made an appointment for my son's hearing aids to be sent in for repair on June 19 and they couldn't give me an appointment until August 1. As of today, July 31, they cancelled our appointment stating that authorization was still pending, forcing my wife to make calls all day long to multiple numbers (Providence, HACCP, and other agencies), essentially doing the job of their billing department. They then claimed that when they looked to see when we made our appointment, they "saw" July 16 and that it could take up to 30 days to get an authorization. Somebody at Providence clearly dropped the ball and didn't do their job and is now trying to claim that it hasn't been 30 days as of today. It's pretty clear that June 19 to July 31 is more than 30 days, so I don't know what they are trying to accomplish by lying to us (the person on the phone was also incredibly rude to my wife). On top of that, they said they would cancel our appointment if we couldn't get it figured out by 4pm. My wife asked for a direct number to get around the automated system (they never answer the phone) and the person gave her a number that went to, you guessed it, an automated system to leave a message and hope they call back before 4pm, which they did not. This mission statement is taken directly from the Providence website: Through our mission of Enriching Life Through the Gifts of Speech and Hearing we continually provide excellent services in the identification, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of speech, language, and hearing disorders for persons of all religions, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds. It sure seems that the staff at Providence has forgotten how to "continually provide excellent services". Another statement from their website: Ongoing Hearing Aid Support We continue to monitor the performance of our hearing aids and ear mold fittings with follow-up appointments to ensure that the patient receives the maximum benefit. It seems as if they do their absolute best to avoid follow-up appointments and will just cancel appointments whenever they want. One more from their website: Hearing Aid Repair and Loaner Program In the case of a problem with your hearing aid, we will loan you an instrument to be used for the duration of your devices' service. This allows our patients to maintain their listening capabilities should any problem arise. We were told that the loaner hearing aid program was no longer available. Keeping all of this in mind, my child has been without working hearing aids for over a month now and will likely go without for a minimum of another month. I tried to get this issue resolved at the beginning of summer so that he would have working hearing aids by the time school starts in the fall, and it looks as though that will not happen because Providence doesn't care about kids with disabilities, the staff just care about getting through the day to earn their paycheck. read more

Just horrible. We've had my sons Hearing aids for 8 MONTHS now and I'm getting a call from cochlear threatening to take them away all because of this clinic, not charging my insurance. Now I'm here dealing with a mess that they've caused and I can't even get an answer back. This is so unprofessional and so upsetting and stressful. Why give us the hearing aids if the insurance didn't even confirm purchase. And now you guys want me to take my son's only form of hearing away from him because of a mess up and negligence that this clinic did. LACK of Speech and Hearing is more likely. Apparently, no one can HEAR the phones ringing. Therefore, no one SPEAKS to the potential patients. It's also painfully evident no one is currently capable of calling individuals who have left their call-back information. There are two possibilities for this abysmal lack of service. A. Incompetent and uncaring. OR B. Preposterously understaffed. My husband and I were referred to Providence for an evaluation. The office experience has been horrible. We were asked to supply prescriptions as well as all of our insurance information, which we did. They seemed to have a problem with what we supplied but were unable to give us anymore information. We asked to get a call back to resolve the problem as we were not allowed to make an appointment until they resolved the problem. We were told that they would call back within the hour. 2 days later and we are still waiting for the call. We then called our insurance company and obtained a referred to another Hearing Center. They unlike Providence, answered the phone, got our info and made an appointment for the evaluation. I would NEVER recommend Providence Speech and Hearing. read more

I have been using and wearing hearing aids for 40 years. I have had good service with the various Providence Speech and Hearing Centers UNTIL they were recently bought out/sold/changed management to CHOC. Since Children's Hospital of Orange County has started running the business, adult patients are no longer allowed or treated. Their central appointment/phone tree system is inundated with callers. Last week I tried calling because one of my hearing aids stopped working. There were 30 callers ahead of me!!! Lovely, NOT!!! I am unable to get through via phone to the Huntington Beach location where I have had the most success for several years with Audiologist Steve Liu. I have no idea if he's still with the company, but he was very good. CHOC phone tree operator says I "should have received a letter about the change of management/policies", etc. I did not receive such a letter at my home!!! Poor business practices by CHOC!!!! They said my hearing aid warranty expired May 2025. The new hearing aid office I go to (All Ears Audiology) called my hearing aid manufacturer (Oticon) and learned that my hearing aids are warranted until 2027. Seems like CHOC is running a shady business...lying about my warranty expiration and lying about sending letters to their patients about the changes.!!!! Beware folks. read more

You seriously cannot pay your bill here. They first forgot to bill my insurance after I specifically gave them my insurance card and they made a copy of it. Then after they reprocess, they mailed me a new bill with a late notice on it. There is no way to call because no one picks up the phone and there is no way to pay online. Yes, you can pay by snail mail or by writing a check or your credit card number on a random piece of paper and mailing it back. Sounds super secure. BILLING FRAUD. I gave them my insurance at the time of appt. and they never did anything with it. So I was billed the full amount. Called my insurance because it showed insurance never paid anything. I talked to claims and that person called Providence and spoke to them. Telling them that insurance never received anything, (very suspect behavior in providences end) and they basically said "oops my bad. We will send it. And put the bill on hold." Spoiler alert; they never did. Fast forward weeks later. I'm still getting billed for the same amount. I called insurance and did the whole thing over. Insurance contacted them and retold them the same thing "don't charge her for the full amount." So now hopefully, after a second time I will get the reduced bill. About providence: when I asked them about the first insurance call they said they have no record of it. No note of my bill being put on hold, or reduced. -__-. No record of insurance ever talking to them. (Now I know it's incompetence and laziness on Providences end). Right after hanging up with insurance the second time, I called providence to verify that they included the insurance's employee's phone call, the fact that they asked for the bill to be resubmitted, that I will not be billed the full amount, and to put my account on hold so collections doesn't contact me. IF YOU MUST GO HERE, FOLLOW UP ON YOUR BILLS! I'm not the only one who this has happened to, I read another review. More people need to report their billing fraud. That's unacceptable on many points. First off all, very hard to get anyone to answer the phone. They are not very detail minded, which isn't good for this type of work. For example, I called in Sept, and their answering machine said "The office is closed in observance of 4th of July", which was over 2 months ago. They also don't answer the phone after 4 pm and during a large chunk of mid-afternoon. Got charged for repair on a hearing aid that was still under warranty. When I first called, they denied the warranty and I had to send them my copy. Then they said, OK, but now it's for an office exam, which never took place. (Just a broken aid drop off and later pick up.) I protested with our cc and they reversed the charges. So Providence made a new bill and billed again. CC reversed again. Got another bill. I keep calling and having to explain. Woman today said they don't mistakes (see first paragraph about outdated voice message.) She said manager has to call me back, which may be this week, (it's only Tuesday) maybe next week. (Maybe never?) Excellent customer service. read more

Nubia in customer service for Audiology is rude and condescending which does not reflect great customer service. Customer service includes being helpful and attentive over the phone especially in the healthcare industry and she was rude regarding not having an authorization in the system to end up finding the authorization in the system. Trying to schedule an appt is horrible I've been on hold for over 38min. Can never get through to anybody tried going to a different location but impossible. Tried booking a weekend appt they told me they are not doing weekends when the person at the reception desk told me they were. My son just turned 2 they tried to enforce the mask I told them sorry we don't go anywhere so he doesn't wear one we've just been practicing with wearing a mask.I showed I had his mask they said they couldn't walk back with him he needs to wear it. Mind you we were the only ones there. So he wore it till we got to the room and took it off immediately. I don't understand how they want to enforce children that just turned 2 to wear a mask when grown adults have issues wearing a mask. When we were leaving the appt there was another kid looked to be 2 didnt wear a mask and turned him away. I get it but I didn't think it was fair kids are still trying to get use to it. Update: I didn't know I was being referred here for my daughter pcp scheduled appt got in a timely manner. They gave referral with appt info. Informed them had a bad experience they told me give them a try ... Day of appt front desk rude gave me a blank face saying I didn't have an appt when I got a reminder text?!? Seems as if they were understaffed. First appointment they canceled on us because our therapist was out and they didn't have any one else to see us. Second appointment we saw someone not our therapist because she was out again. The next (3rd visit) we saw our actual therapist for the first time, but told us she was leaving soon and they were trying to look for someone to replace her with our son. We then decided to change locations to Fountain Valley office which was no different. read more

As a parent of a child our worse fear is that you are told your newborn has hearing problems, and I thought Providence specializes in this needs. I by so far have had the worse experience, Jennifer from the Orange location called me a few days before my daughters appointment after been on the schedule for 3 weeks and advise me that her insurance was inactive and wasn't able to send an authorization. Like really you are going call me a few days before her appointment to tell me that you didn't do your job and requested an authorization since the day you set the appointment at your local office? To make this short, I took care of the insurance situation and Providence was able to get an authorization. It has not been approve but I asked Jennifer to set an another appointment in the meantime while we wait for the approval. She denied my request said I couldn't get an appointment until my authorization was approve. Kinda odd that she had me on the schedule for 3 weeks without no authorization. Jennifer told me I could only speak to Hilda to set my appointment, which kinda was irritating because Jennifer was the one to cancel my first appointment to start with. So if you have access to cancel appointments, you definitely have access to schedule. Jennifer does not care about anyone's needs specially our own kids. It is sad that Providence specializes in speech and hearing but their employees do not care one bit. The only reason I am giving Providence a 3 star is because I did have great customer service from Hilda at their call center, I would give her a 5 star just for her. She definitely when above and beyond to make me feel comfortable in her hands. She made me feel like she care for my daughter. Thank you Hilda! I have been trying to get my daughter scheduled here for 4 months. After 4 calls I finally got through to David, and the office sent out intake paperwork a few weeks later. I spent several days assembling the records and teacher reviews and mailed them back promptly. When I didn't hear back after 3 weeks I called. And called. And called. It's now been 3 months without a response or even the opportunity to talk to someone because they rarely answer the phone. Today, I finally got through and the automated system said they'd call back. Well they called back, I spoke with a human for 20 seconds, she put me on hold, and then 2 minutes later she dropped the call. What in the world is going on here? I sent them private medical information and there has been no followup. I have no idea if they received it or not. No idea if we will ever have an appointment or not. And there doesn't seem to be any one else in the area who does APD evaluations. So frustrating. read more

We were asked to do an audiological assessment for our kids. This place was recommended to us by the OC Regional Center. Didn't know what to expect. We were surprised on how large the facility is and how professional the staff was given the "craziness" of all the kids that were in the facility. Took our Cigna insurance without a problem and we were in and our in less than a hour. Highly recommended. read more

Love what they are all about! The staff is well trained...the children seem to enjoy there time & the facility itself is amazing. Parking can be a struggle but recently they applied a section for there patients in particular so that's a plus... --HOWEVER-- My daughter has autism...we first were approved for speech...which is a 30 minute increment. That was a small amount of time as my daughter's transitioning was not there. She struggled... I stopped going because now I receive in home ABA that applies speech as well but through RCOC. & I also got approved for OT but the scheduling is hard for a working single parent such as myself. They have extremely small windows as children finish there sessions & calling every week to see openings is crazy. I do currently go for her Audiology, which the staff again is amazing! From the front end to the back. They are highly qualified. My cons are simply scheduling a suitable time frame, especially for a child who is as special as mine. I'm hoping I can schedule that OT soon...because the 3 month span they approved it for is almost up. read more

I was not a patient here but I accompanied one of my special kiddos here who was having an evaluation done. Boy, is this office BUSY! The office is located in the same complex as CHOC and St. Joseph's Hospitals and I believe the parking is the same structure but don't quote me on that. From what I can see, they have a friendly and accomodating staff. This place also houses a preschool and an early intervention facility. I'm not enitrely sure what services they offer but it's definitely worth looking into if you are in need of services from here. read more

An update! We finally managed to see a speech therapist and things were looking up! Megan was great and we started to see an improvement in my son. Unfortunately, less than three months in Megan left the center and we were told that our son will be seeing a new person, but this new person won't be starting until the beginning of September. Well it is now towards the end of September and now we're told he'll definitely start the first week of October. Sigh. If it's any consolation, the scheduling person I've been checking in with has been a delight to talk to. It's unfortunate that no one could give us an exact date when my son will be starting speech therapy again. Side note: I noticed the business manager replied back to my previous review. This is NOT for the speech & hearing therapists, doctors etc..I didn't get the chance to meet any of them this is strictly for the FRONT DESK girls both very unhelpful My wife has brought my son here before & made an appointment for today 12/6/22 at 3pm I was there maybe 15min before 3pm I walked in had my 2 kids sit while I waited in line to check in I waited for maybe 5min before it was my turn I approached the desk & spoke with one of the girls told her my son had a 3pm appt for a hearing test she asked if I had a mask I said no so she provided me one for me & my kids & advised only one family member is allowed inside & would need to speak w/the doctor I said ok she handed me papers to fill out which I did fill the forms except for the visitation survey since our visit wasn't over & the insurance information that I did not have my wife had been told when she scheduled the appointment that the information was in thier system to which she also related this info to me as well when I finished the forms I went to return them the other girl which I didn't get either ones name said she needed to know who referred my son as well as fill out the insurance information I explained to her what my wife was told about the information already being in thier system she responded several times without even attempting to look it up in the computer that without the insurance information & knowing who referred my son that he could not be seen my wife was at work so I was not able to reach her as I also explained I had no choice but basically say "I guess we'll have to reschedule than thanks" what else can I do at that point so as I walked away she said something but I was already finished talking since I wasn't being helped. After I reached my wife I explained what happened my wife had to step out of her work & call she spoke to the supposedly manager Maribel? & Was told that she was able to pull up my son's info no problem But apparently in the notes I was rude, didn't fill out any paperwork & was non-compliant... Hmmm well why don't we go & check your video footage for training purposes & see how I must've filled out imaginary forms & not told that we couldn't be seen Please Please review your footage & see how rude I was supposedly being at the end of the day those employees need to be in another line of work people who need to make up lies about a father who left his job early & pulled his kids out of school also early to have his son be seen for hearing problems only to show up be denied than make up lies have no place in that kind of environment. read more

My family was used for the fundraiser event in Anaheim. My daughter was bilaterally implanted and then activated Jan 2020. Dr. Guzzo was her Audiologist and initially seemed fine. After we brought up the fact that after several months, she was not responding at all to any sound, she assured us it was due to our shortcomings and not hers since "she's got extensive training in watching for signs that our daughter is hearing" during her time in the booth. We requested several times to adjust the mapping to which she replied that "she would not make adjustments just to make us feel better". I told her that when we are in the booth my daughter isn't turning to the corner due to sound, but due to the large bright screen that "assists" the child. She said she was passing her tests great and we just needed to work with her more. I insisted we turn off the monitors and try again. Once we did, she failed COMPLETELY. This is NOT the type of attitude a doctor should have and NOT the type of facility that you should visit. After working with a new audiologist and speaking to a large community of implanted kids/parents, I truly feel that those kids that take to hearing quickly, do so heavily on their own. Providence parades those cases as though it is a result of their efforts and attempts to pass those of us who have more difficult cases, where it almost seems our kids prefer to be deaf, off as lazy or neglectful. We spent 9 months with Providence and had NO positive signs, so we started with another who remapped our daughters devices with which we instantly saw a change, literally day ONE. I can't describe here how happy yet angry that day made me feel. If you watch our video interview online, which played during the fundraiser, we were 5 months in and still naive but beginning to have our doubts as to what was a result of their skill and what was the natural progression with the implant. We are very happy we left and are now working with our new audiologist instead. Hopefully your journey will not be as difficult, but if so, that you find someone who is observant and patient, or who has children so they understand the value in being receptive to the parents' experience day to day. read more
