I am the aunt of a child who received services at Progress Speech and Language. I am writing as a witness to share how the front desk experience with receptionist Teresa, has been consistently unprofessional and inappropriate. On multiple occasions, Teresa ignored us at check-in and check-out because she was talking on her personal phone or sometimes because she is chatting with others. She always makes us wait without acknowledgment, and when we did approach the desk, she was visibly irritated and made rude facial expressions. Worse, Teresa is always spoking loudly about other clients and their children, mocking and making disrespectful comments where everyone could hear. She was even talking incredibly loud about her own personal matters, including how she's having a baby, getting tax money, and was being mad because her baby's father gives money to his other child's mother -- all conversations we can hear in the waiting room. The last incident was especially upsetting: she openly gossiped about my niece, and her parents by name to another staff member while we were sitting right there. This made us feel disrespected and humiliated in a place where families should feel supported and safe. I want to make it clear that this type of unprofessional conduct will cost you clients and money. Families will refuse to come to a place where they feel mocked, disrespected, and gossiped about. As Kaiser members, we have already filed formal complaints about this establishment, and we sincerely hope you take immediate action before more families choose to leave for good. read more

Kaiser should stop sending families over here. They are understaffed most of the time. My appt for the following day was cancelled within 24hrs without warning. My next 2 appts are also cancelled without possibility to make up since they have no therapist. Awesome resources... read more

Incredible crew here. The girls are amazing. They are patient and caring and they do not mind speaking up and recommending what is best for your children. During a disagreement between parties, the staff stayed professional, operated in a calm and intelligent manner and deescalated the situation and continued to do what was best for the kids. I am writing to formally share several ongoing concerns regarding the front desk experience at Progress Speech and Language. While our daughter has formed a strong relationship with her therapist and has made noticeable progress, the unprofessional conduct at the front desk--particularly involving your receptionist, Teresa has created an increasingly uncomfortable and upsetting environment for our family. From our very first visit, the initial impression was disappointing. The waiting room was noticeably dirty, and there was no formal greeting upon arrival. Instead, the receptionist was on a personal phone call. This has become a recurring experience--more often than not, Teresa is either on the phone or otherwise occupied with personal conversations when clients arrive. We are left either standing at the front desk waiting to be acknowledged or waiting for her to call us over for copayment processing. What is far more concerning, however, is the repeated lack of professionalism, discretion, and respect we have observed. On multiple occasions while waiting for my daughter to finish her sessions, I have overheard Teresa speaking openly about other clients and their families. These conversations are not only inappropriate they have included judgmental and mocking remarks about children currently receiving treatment. She has made fun of certain patients and referred to parents in a disrespectful tone, all within earshot of others in the waiting area. This behavior is absolutely unacceptable in any professional setting, especially one centered around children and families seeking support. A recent incident involved my husband waiting at the front desk to pay the copay. He stood for several minutes without being acknowledged. After nearly four minutes, Teresa looked up and said, "You can have a seat." He responded that he was simply trying to pay, and I added that it would be courteous to acknowledge someone rather than ignore them. She then processed the payment but did so while making exaggerated facial expressions, clearly indicating irritation. Immediately after, she warmly greeted and engaged in small talk with other clients highlighting the inconsistent and selective nature of her interactions with us. We raised this concern with our daughter's therapist, hoping it would be addressed. Unfortunately, things have only worsened. At a subsequent visit, I chose to sit and wait to be called for payment rather than approach the desk, trying to avoid another confrontation. Teresa never called us up. When the therapist came to get our daughter, I mentioned we hadn't yet paid, and she said she would inform her supervisor. Teresa then contacted the therapist to say she was "busy" and that I "shouldn't be mad" she hadn't called--then laughed. Still, she never addressed us directly or requested payment. Shortly after, another staff member entered, and Teresa called her over and said, "Oh, I have to tell you about the drama." She then proceeded to discuss me, my husband, and our daughter by name, openly and mockingly, while we were sitting right there in the waiting room. It was incredibly inappropriate and hurtful, especially as it was said loud enough for others to hear. These interactions have left us feeling disrespected, judged, and unwelcome. We are no longer comfortable entering the building, as we feel like we are walking on eggshells and being talked about by staff who are supposed to provide a safe, supportive environment for families. Despite our daughter's positive relationship with her therapist, the repeated incidents with Teresa have made it impossible for us to continue services at your facility. We strongly believe that all families deserve to be treated with dignity, confidentiality, and professionalism especially in a clinical setting that serves children with developmental and communication needs. We are sharing this in the hope that the clinic takes appropriate action to ensure a respectful, inclusive, and professional environment for all clients moving forward. read more

Progress Speech & Language abandoned my son. He began early intervention services a year ago. At first, he did great with his therapist. However, children grow, change, and test their limits. That means they will push back against parents, caregivers, therapists, you name it. My son has ASD and is now 2.5 years old. Over the past few months, he has not been working well with his usual therapist. It was not the fault of the therapist, who was initially wonderful. He began having more meltdowns and needed new motivators since the old motivators from when he was 1 no longer worked at age 2. My son's hours were also increased, which Progress scrambled to provide. However, they simply did not have the ability to provide those hours. Rather than tell us that they could not cover all of the hours that he needed, they assigned a second therapist to provide additional hours when that therapist was not even available. We were told she was unable to do in-person sessions and could only do phone or Zoom sessions for two weeks. None of those sessions happened. When the third week rolled around, we were told that a substitute would be scheduled in because the therapist was again unavailable. This seemed like a desperate attempt to keep our son with Progress so they would keep getting paid, even though they could not meet the required hours. Progress would also schedule consults concurrently with my son's therapy sessions which were largely a waste of time. In his last session, the supervisor and therapist spent so much time talking strategy and chatting that he just sat there playing with his toys by himself. I ended up intervening and playing with him on my own. What is the point of consults and supervision if my child is just sitting there zoned out and pushing buttons nonstop? Aren't those precisely the behaviors that we're trying to change?? This week, we requested a new therapist and informed Progress that if they could not do so, we would need to find a different vendor. The following day, my son's therapist did not show up for session. I called both the therapist and Progress. My calls went unanswered. Eventually, Progress answered and put me on hold for several minutes. I was told that the therapist did not show up because we cancelled services. I assured them that I had not cancelled anything, and that we had made the request for a different therapist and would eventually select a new vendor if that request could not be fulfilled. Progress then told me that the service coordinator at Regional Center had called to cancel our services, which was even more absurd. Our service coordinator had confirmed that there would be NO gap in services being provided to our son even if we elected to change vendors. Progress cancelled my son's therapy without giving us prior notice. The 10 hours of weekly therapy he is supposed to receive are now obsolete. Anyone who is familiar with ASD will tell you that early, intensive, and consistent therapy is key to helping autistic children overcome their challenges. Now we are left in a limbo with no services in place for my 2 year-old child. In the simplest terms, Progress Speech & Language abandoned my son. read more

The kids are so cute and families are great to work with. However, at times, I drove for twenty miles to go to a 1 hour session. You can get ten minute breaks between assignments, but found myself using that time to respond to emails, do my mileage or send emails regarding clients. Also, we get sick time, but I believe I was punished for using it. For instance, I scheduled time off, but then became sick just prior to my scheduled time off. Scheduling wanted to know why I called out sick right before my scheduled time off. Sorry, children get us sick sometimes! The next day, 3 of 4 of my ongoing cases were removed. I was so upset that I cancelled my scheduled time off. This situation happened a second time, which leads me to believe that there is punishment if they think your taking sick time, when you shouldn't be, which is illegal. I really hope that's a coincidence. Also, they want you to work on Holidays. I'm sorry, I'm not going to people's houses while they are eating their Holiday dinner with their families. I tried working holidays and three families canceled at the door in one day, even though I confirmed them three times. There is a $7.50 cancellation fee if a client cancels within 24 hours, but I don't think that's compensation for missing a holiday with your family. In addition, if they are charging much more for a cancellation, then why aren't they giving their employees more compensation? We are the one's out there doing all the hard work. There's a lot of great things about this company, but they need to operate with some empathy. read more

Our daughter worked with Miss Katie on her speech for only 5 months. In that short time our daughters speech flourished more than we could have ever imagined. When we started speech therapy with Miss Katie our daughter was really mostly signing and then it really started to take off allowing her to verbalize her wants and needs. We are forever grateful for her love, patience and dedication to our daughter. read more

My daughter saw Natalie for occupational therapy, I don't think she's there anymore but she was amazing! And then she saw Elizabeth for speech and she was so great with my daughter. My daughter is talking so good! Thankful for her therapists that she's had here. It did take a few speech therapists to go through to see which one fit best for my daughter. Facility is dirty my son got hand foot and mouth from being seen here we weren't in contact with anyone else which leads me to believe that they don't sanitize their toys and examining area. They also require masks and if you don't have one they charge you $1.00 to use theirs. I wouldn't recommend or come back here. read more

I tend to only leave positive reviews but I couldn't give this place more than 2 stars. The place is filthy and I wasn't impressed by their "therapy". 2 stars are because the therapists were friendly but they didn't seem experienced or confident in what they were doing. They seemed more like interns to me. The 1st time I went I thought "maybe it's because it's the 1st time here and they're slowly getting to know my son" but I went a 2nd time and it was the same. 3rd time my mother in law went to sit in on a "therapy" session and she wasn't impressed at all. I was trying to give them a chance but honestly they're must be a better more professional place out there. Not going back. P.S. We've been coming here for almost 3 months for physical therapy for my 1 year as he is behind in his motor skills. Within two months his therapist was able to get him crawling, he's now crawling all over the place. We're working on walking next, I trust my sons therapist so much! I'm grateful we were able to get her to help my son! It's been a great experience. The receptionists are nice, they greet you and smile! And are accommodating if you can't make your appointment for the week. Thanks a lot! read more

Well, this is my second time seeking services from Progress. First round:My first experience was so great with my first son that I had to come back 5 years later with my second son. My first pathologist was Jane Son. She litterly changed our lives with my son Bobby. He would not talk. At all. They thought he had Apraxia and my heart sunk. Some how Jane was able to make the light bulb go off and my son who started with the vocabulary of a 10 month old at 2 years old, graduated at 3 years old with the vocabulary of a 4 1/2 year old. He's at the top of his class in second grade now, plays tennis and had no problems and I'm sure will be very successful all because Jan took the time and had patience. Don't give up, because Progress can help! Second round: 5 years later, my other son had issues with articulation. When he turned 5 I really started to worry, had him evaluated and again we had a big problem. He could not say words with a T, d, c or L. I couldn't understand him half the time. I found out that Kaiser contracted with Progress after calling them and speaking to Isabel. She actually remembered me and my first son! We chatted and I was so happy she was still there! And she totally remembered our family. It felt like coming home. I requested Jane, if course, but she was not available so Isabel suggested that Ali Ross would be a good fit. We loved Ali!!! She was awesome and had a breakthrough with my son on the second appointment! After only 17 sessions our issues were resolved and again Progress came through for the Kuykendalls. I'm blessed that they have such educated and experienced therapists and pathologists. I would recommend them to anyone needing help. Go ask for Ali or Jane, you won't be disappointed. PS- second son can have a difficult personality at times, and Ali figured out how to break though and make him comfortable. I started speech therapy with my oldest daughter. 1st session went okay didn't really know what it was all about (mostly play time) second session SAME THING. My daughter would communicate with the therapist and she never corrected her with her speech. 3rd session SAME THING!! all they do is play with the kids for 45min!!. No real learning going on you spend your copay on a 45 min play date with a therapist that doesn't teach them anything. Overall I would recommend to look elsewhere for a better speech therapist. This place is a joke therapist aren't professional. DON'T BOTHER COMING.... read more

Stay away from this dump. My son was dumped from speech services since he didn't make significant progress,( he's autistic). With our new speech company my son speaks, it took hard work and dedication but progress isn't about that, they are about quick fixes and money. I go back years later for o.t., their therapists are quitting left and right and they wont even give you a phone call or heads up you have a new therapist. Half way in treatment I realize his old therapist stuff is all gone and i inquire since I didnt receive a phone call, i assumed it was a sub, their response" we don't call if we make substitutions", total disregard for autism characteristics about change and routine. I'm wondering why this place doesn't have any stars it really has good therapist and the receptionist Isabel is really helpful on appointments changing schedule and tries to be helpful with all of our needs I have been coming here for 2 years first with my granddaughter Jocelyn her therapist was Yenisel Ramirez she was great in helping us out on the transition of Jocelyn being away from us and was great with her on all therapy visits Kristie Nguyen - Quan is my grandson Jimmy she is very good with he is starting to talk alot more and being comfortable being around people that are not family The end of Jocelyn time being here both therapist help us out on giving Jimmy the comfort he need on his new adventure we were having group therapy I loved seeing my kids really happy and enjoying their time being here I'm a adoptive mother for 4 of my grandkids and have 2 of my own , even though our visits are almost coming to a end because Jimmy will be turning 3 in 6 months I'm very satisfied with everyone here all the girls are great and I really recommend it Maybe we will be seeing you guys still for another year THANK YOU GUYS FOR ALL THE HELP, SMILES, AND WELCOMING US EVERY TIME WE ARE HERE Special thanks to the girls that have been in this journey with us Isabel Yeni and Kristie From the Marroquin Nuñez family read more

I am recently taking her for speech therapy once a week the front desk personal always seems very helpful her therapist is really nice and patient with her . I called to schedule evaluation and sessions for my daughter. They told me treatment within one week and session within a month. We did it the evaluation, I called back after 2 weeks to check in the results and schedule treatment they told me my daughter needs to start treatment asap so they want to transfer her to a different facility because they have a year waiting list which they did not tell me up front. Her paper work was sent back to her primary doctor and to the insurance and finally the new facility needed to do their own evaluation. Progress were deceitful totally unethical they wasted our time and delayed my daughter's treatment so they could get paid for a useless evaluation. read more

Despite my follow up, I never received any call backs advising that position was filled. I was told several times I would be called and never heard back. Rather disappointing. read more
