Jessica is amazing and we are so grateful for her and the time she spent with our daughter. Our daughter was diagnosed as a "late talker." Her receptive speech was in the normal range, but her expressive speech was delayed. At two years old, our daughter was saying only about 5 words. We discussed speech therapy with her pediatrician at her 18 month well check, then again at her 2 year well check. When we were told that she should have been saying at least 50 words by 24 months, we knew that speech therapy was necessary. I contacted Jessica to start the process, and during our first phone conversation, I knew she was the right choice for our daughter. Jessica was extremely patient. She took time with me explaining the process of speech therapy, going over options, and overall, easing my mind about everything. After the initial evaluation, Jessica was able to give us a diagnosis, an overall plan, and an estimated timetable for therapy. Our daughter had sessions with Jessica for about 5 months. Jessica was very flexible with our family's schedule. She came to our home, as well as my parents' home, as they took care of our daughter a few days a week. Jessica immediately bonded with our daughter. She would sit with her on the floor and interact with her in a very calm and patient manner. Our daughter always thought that she and Jessica were just playing. She loved the games they played and the activities they did together. She looked forward to her visits every week. Jessica involved all family members in the therapy process, giving us tools to be able to work with our daughter on skills in our everyday life. She provided us with strategies to be able to reinforce what she had been working on with our daughter. All the tactics and routines that were part of her therapy plan were made known to everyone, and this approach, we truly believe, hastened her development of speech. We saw improvements in our daughter's expressive speech very quickly. Not only was she saying new words, her overall demeanor changed. Before she started speech therapy, she would get easily frustrated, as it was difficult for her to communicate with us. As her speech developed and she was able to express herself more to the people in her life, she became more content and calm. We sought therapy for our son when he was about 16 months old. Jessica was quick to get us in for an evaluation and listened to all of our concerns. It's hard to see your child struggle or recognize a delay with them, but Jessica was very sensitive and helpful and that made the whole process a great experience. I highly recommend Jessica for speech therapy. She worked with my son Easton who was only 18 months at the time, diagnosed with autism. She worked with him for about 6 months or so. He responded extremely well to her, we saw significant speech development. He went from only babbling to saying words when prompted. We are so thankful that we found Jessica and would give her a 10-star Yelp rating if it was possible. Our son was going to be starting kindergarten and had multiple speech issues that affected his ability to socialize and communicate. During the initial consultation, it was clear that Jessica was incredibly knowledgeable in the field of speech therapy and she took us through the various issues she had observed. We decided to move forward with three half-hour sessions per week and it was one of the best decisions we've ever made. Our son recently "graduated" and the difference in his speech is night and day compared to when he started. Jessica is everything you could possibly want in a speech therapist. She is highly educated in the field and great at explaining the technical aspects of speech to parents. Just as importantly, she has a warm persona that puts kids at ease, and she makes speech therapy fun by using a game-based approach. Listening to her work with our son, it was amazing how many little tips and tricks she had that would help him be able to pronounce his sounds and put them together seamlessly. Since both my wife and I work, we really appreciated that Jessica would come to our house for our son's sessions. A huge added benefit of having the lessons at our house (that we hadn't thought of before we began) was that while we worked from home, we could often overhear the speech cues and tips and tricks Jessica used with our son, and then use the same verbiage so we would all refer to sounds the same way and "speak the same language" as he learned. For example, I could remind my son that a certain word with a letter V used a "vacuum sound," just like Miss Jessica said. Without a doubt I recommend Jessica to anyone looking for a speech therapist. She worked with me and my son for 9 months and he went from not being able to say "s" sounds (full frontal lisp) as well as having issues with his r, t,l sounds to being able to fully make all of the above sounds perfectly in conversation. I had no idea what to expect, but Jessica worked her magic and made all of us feel so comfortable and at ease. She was easily able to connect with my son and get him to play with her.
