I've been meaning to write a review about our sons wonderful speech therapists. And yesterday was a great reminder of why we come here and have been coming to expressions since 2020. Our son is on the spectrum and had severe speech delay, he wasn't saying much when we began. but with a great team he has come such a long way. He now can communicate in full sentences. And this has improved his overall quality of life and reduced his behaviors tremendously. Ms Jessica and Ms Kristen are the absolute BEST! When our son wasn't able to fully attend a session they were patient enough with him to give him the time he needed. They gave him breaks, they helped motivate him by rewarding him. They some how were able to pull it out of him, when it seem nearly impossible. They just get it! And make it fun for the kiddos. And with time his tolerance has grown, and so has his speech. Which has been such a big game changer. They have also collaborated with our ABA team and his now school team (now that he's older). It truly takes a village and they help facilitate that everyone is working together in unison. They also have given my husband and I great tips and parent training on what we can be working on at home. Can't thank them enough for all they do for his improvement. Our son is excited to come to speech and see his therapists. Even after school when he could easily be burned out and not want to attend. He enjoys it. The front office staff is always so nice and are super helpful while navigating the oh so nightmareish that can be insurance claims. Flexible with schedule changes. I am giving them a 5 start because they are all amazing. My daughter is currently seeing Jessica as her therapist and she is amazing. She has helped her grow so much in the last year. Jessica is so sweet and kind and patient. She has taught my special needs daughter how to chew her food and use her tongue to move her food so she is not using her fingers. My son recently turned 4 and has been attending two consecutive 30-minute weekly Speech Therapy sessions at Expression Speech Therapy in Garden Grove for the last 1.5 years. By the time he started speech therapy at 2.5 years old, our son's spontaneous vocabulary had actually decreased to practically nothing--he was unable to say his own name and mostly communicated by just grunting or pointing, so he was definitely behind most 2.5 year olds' language ability. While it did help that our son started attending childcare full time a couple months after starting speech therapy, most of the children in his classroom were younger than him--and many were still learning English as their second language, so I'm not sure how much English language reinforcement our son really got at school initially. Fortunately, within a few weeks of starting speech therapy as Expressions in late February 2017, his primary therapist, Miss Anya, was able to establish a great connection with our son and not only did he enjoy his speech therapy sessions, but after just 4 months of weekly speech therapy sessions, by the end of June 2017, Miss Anya was able to help our son make the following improvements: * Spontaneous vocabulary increased to 8+ words - increased from basically 0 words * Able to imitate single words with 30% accuracy - increased from no ability * Able to say "more + noun" to request and "all done + noun" to end play - improved from only grunting/pointing to request/lead * Able to make a few requests with word approximations with 30% accuracy - improved from only grunting requests * Able to label 4 nouns & 2 verbs with 80% accuracy - increased from no ability * Able to state his name with 50% accuracy - increased from no ability So, in addition to our being very happy with our son's progress in speaking and pronunciation at Expressions, we're also constantly impressed with the support and care that Expressions' staff exhibit toward our son as one the their patients--and us, as his parents, too. We especially appreciate that Expressions' therapists are also always happy to recommend different strategies, resources, and activities to help reinforce what our son learns during speech therapy. ^_^ read more

This facility would get 5 stars if it were not for the therapist Jessica Hoang. She is very young and arrogant. She writes up reports to dismiss children that she doesn't like to work with. These are children who need speech therapy and have not yet reached their potential goals. She sends off the reports to the medical providers without consulting with parents. I don't know of any organization that would allow a young therapist, fresh out of college, to decide, with authority, to run the outcome of Expression's determining factors without consulting with her superiors and parents. This is a set-up for lawyers to get involved. read more

My child has been going to this place for 2 years now. Like other parents, I see the office staff named Karen was helpful and amazing. But lately, they have changed to new girl name Victoria as a scheduler. She is the worst of the worst. She could lie on the things, make up things, and try to get away when being confronted. I found that she was so cold and no empathy to help the parents in scheduling. Compared to Karen who was so flexible and go beyond her scope to help. I guess Victoria is there just wait for charging parents if they are late to the appointments. She could hold your child outside at the lobby until the session is over and charge you $30 for no show fee even though you show up as she did to us. When you need to change your schedule, everything to her seems very difficult, no accommodation. I email other office staff to ask for changing my kids' schedule, waiting for 24 hours with no response. I called and with the cold tone of voice she said she didn't see my email because her colleague did not forward to her, but I told her that her colleague said she would email her and she kept quiet and tried to change the topic. It seems that they do not communicate and I ended up cancel 2 appointments for that week because no accommodation. My blood pressure was increased when talking to her as her attitude was so terrible. I am not sure if I should raise the awareness to this place's management or not because I saw other parents yelled at her in the lobby for her way of attitudes as well. I don't understand why they put her at front for customer service. She is sure to push customers/parents away. I think it is time for me to look for another facility. I have been dealing with her for 4 months now and things seems getting worse not better. read more

I have had a very positive experience coming here. Everyone has been very accommodating and kind. They keep updating the decor too which I appreciate since we come twice a week. The therapists have been wonderful. We have had two main ones over the year and had many others fill in. My daughter was able to learn from all of them. Only negative thing that has happened was a miscommunication about rescheduling an appointment when changing multiple times over the phone. I also noticed the chairs and books being cleaned today. Hopefully, I won't have to worry about the kids getting sick as often from attending. read more

This is the BEST speech therapy ever!! My daughter had speech therapy services here for many years and I cannot begin to tell you what a great staff and support you will find here. My daughter started off with little to no speech and had greatly regressed which was so concerning to us as parents. After starting with Expression we began to see progress. We also listened and followed through with carrying over suggested speech techniques into our daily home life. I was always kept informed on goals, evaluations, etc. which we really appreciated. Karen the office manager is very, very knowledgeable, the staff is truly caring and every therapist we have had throughout our years there have been amazing. A doctor told me that my daughter would never ever speak or know that I was in the same room as her . He assured me that , that was her future. Today she is thriving, has amazing communication skills and such a quick wit - Moms don't ever give up... especially on the hard days. The two people in the front Hector and Elizabeth are so sweet and helpful and they are so accommodating when you need to reschedule or have any questions. Karen is the best !!! I have been bringing my son to Expressions since 2006. He was 4.5 years old and nonverbal. My son was diagnosed with Autism in 2004 and Expressions opened my eyes to my son's world. They not only worked with my son, but also helped me to learn how to elicit language from him, give him multiple means of communicating through sign and pictures, and how to encourage him with every attempt at communicating with us. Through all their support and education my son is now in the 7th grade and Mr. Popular. He is now able to appropriately express his thoughts, humor, passions, fears and love...oh and did I mention humor? I truly believe my son would not be as successful as he today is without their help. They supported not only him but our whole family. My amazing little man who is 12 years old is a 4.0 student with an aide at his local middle school. I have watched the Expressions Family grow with amazing therapists and staff each year to meet the demands of the growing population of children and adults with speech and language impairments. They truly are a family and they make you feel like you belong the moment you walk through their doors. In a way you don't just walk through their doors when you go there, you walk into their hearts. My child has been receiving speech therapy at Expressions since January 2015. Since then his speech has improved tremendously! He went from only speaking 10 words to now repeating everything we say!
