I would start with, I don't typically give reviews, however my experience with Will Mitchell was…read moreabsolutely terrible and I think people should at least be warned about the kind of business this man runs. At first, he seemed nice and honest with how insurance was going to process my claim. Apparently insurance companies get real cheap when it comes to wind damage versus hail. It took three months for him and the insurance company to come to an agreement on what was to get repaired and for how much. Will showed up on 6/26/23 to start doing repairs on the roof. He showed up himself very early but his team and the material were very late to show up. My wife gave him the check he wanted, he said deductible and the first check I received from the insurance company. He never actually stated an amount, just those words. It was about 60% of the entire job, and he complained about how that wasn't the correct amount. We were still waiting on the second check to come in so this is all we had. He proceeded to start the roofing section. During removal of damaged shingles my wife noticed that it did not appear to be the whole amount that should be replaced. She brought this to his attention as he was still outside during the repair. He assured her that this was the correct amount to be repaired. Also when materials arrived, my wife saw him tell the delivery driver to only off load half the material. She was able to get the billing info from the driver. The billing info showed that the amount being dropped off would have been all the material to do our whole front slope. He ended up only doing half of the front slope of our house though the contract and estimate from the insurance company stated the whole front slope. On July 3rd I talked with my insurance company and they confirmed he did not do the whole amount he was supposed to. We confronted him about what he had done and at first he stated that this was all he was supposed to do, but after some pressing he did admit that there had been a "mistake" and that he would finish the roof. However he wanted more money first. He also TOLD the guy who was doing some of the interior repairs not to leave our house until he got his money. Luckily after showing him some of our texts and explaining the situation the guy left because Will would not answer his phone when I tried to call him about his guy who was just standing in our house. This is when things got heated, who in the right mind would give someone more money when they stole half your materials and did half the job they were supposed to. I tried to reason with him and even stated that if he came to finish the roof as it should have been done the first time, i would give him more money that day. However he would not accept this offer, then ghosted me. So I told him if he did not respond or finish the rest of the repairs to my house he would be fired by august 1st. He still never responded until I officially fired him. Then he gave a vague threat about how I didn't want to fire him and that I owed him 80% of the entire job. He's done about 40% of the entire job(he did half a roof section, added 5 poles to my fence though he was supposed to do 15 sections and started drywall work from the leak upstairs), I added up the estimate for the work he had done and I don't owe him anything, IN FACT, he owes me about $1,300 dollars since I'd given him more money than he's actually done work. He of course went back to ignoring me and my wife so we have not been able to work this out in any form or fashion. However, due to him threatening me, I reached out to a lawyer and showed him all the texts, contracts, estimates, pictures of repairs or half done repairs. It does not seem Will has anything to go on to come after me other than being petty. The lawyer said that most shady contractors want 90% up front so they can do this exact thing, and that's exactly what Will wanted in the beginning. I'm glad he wasn't able to entirely rip me off but the fact that my roof will never be completely repaired as it should have been since he took my money leaves me quit dissatisfied. NEVER GIVE A CONTRACTOR A HUGE PERCENT OF YOUR MONEY, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF.
