He even added sound board under the drywall which makes it so quiet! I can hardly hear anything downstairs! YIPPEE! The crew was always punctual and polite. I can't say enough good things about this company. I contacted a few contractors for a complete kitchen remodel. After interviewing many we went with Protex. Protex had workers on the job when they said they would. Work progressed at my house quickly because Josh, the owner made sure workers arrived daily and worked a full day. He was very responsive to our requests and made sure the few issues that arose were taken care of quickly. After construction wrapped I noticed a small issue with my light fixtures. You'd think since payment had been made it would be hard to get a hold of someone to get the issue corrected but no! Josh answered my call immediately and came over himself to correct the issue. It ended up that new materials were needed and Josh took care of ordering the materials and making sure they were installed correctly when they came in. You may be able to find someone cheaper but I truly believe you get what you pay for. I wouldn't hesitate to utilize this company again. read more

I honestly do not even know where to begin. My mother and I are from Northern California and my grandmothers home that we inherited was in Redlands. I had Josh do a complete remodel to my house in Irvine after I bought a house that was built in 80's and had never been touched. Josh and his team did a complete overhaul on the first floor - new kitchen, powder room, fireplace, tile throughout and a some wall relayout. On second floor they did completely new master and spare bath, replaced a few windows & installed can lights and pull down attic stairs. The protex quote was the most reasonable of 5 quotes obtained, was very detailed and most importantly, josh stood behind the bid and there were no hidden costs or "surprises". They were very up front if any of our change requests involved additional cost - they told us so. The work was high quality and more than met our expectations. The only issue we had, if I had to pick something to complain about, was that our job took a while to complete as we were assigned to a project manager part way into the construction when Josh was out of country. Finally, I would like to note that we called josh about a year and 1/2 after completion of the job to address some minor issues we had - a mirror had come out of wall, cabinet and master shower doors needed to be adjusted, roof tiles had come loose, etc. Josh didn't hesitate - they had someone out in a week to fix these items. I rated Josh and Protex a 5 as they have stood behind their quality. I strongly recommend Protex for your remodeling needs. read more

They were very apologetic but made little effort to work around my schedule to try and come back out since I had already been off of work the day it was scheduled for. 2 stars because they were still friendly and apologetic but lower score for not trying to make up for the mistake. While in Diamond Bar interviewing contractors, I knew immediately that Josh of Protex Construction would be the one to do our project - transforming part of our three car garage into a bedroom for our aging mother who could no longer climb up the stairs to her second floor bedroom. He was he knowledgable about the work that needed to be done and his estimate reasonable. But just as he was about to leave, I happen to ask him about how to tighten a loose kitchen faucet that I was unfamiliar with. I was going to tighten it myself but without my asking, Josh insisted in doing it for me. It wasn't easy but he did it. What a nice guy. But his niceness did not stop there. After beginning the job there was some permit problems with the building department and some changes to the plans (as can be expected with our family committee of six siblings overseeing the project) With four of us living out of town it made the coordination even more difficult. Nevertheless, Josh patiently worked out all of the problems and changes and saw the project through to completion. We are very happy with the final results and can sincerely give the highest recommendation possible to Josh and his workers of Protex Construction - a rare end to any story about working with contractors. Josh under promised and over delivered. The main part of our project was done in a week! The painting was a bit of a hurdle, but we fixed the issues. He estimated 3 weeks and we could have been done in two if everything else had been ready. Our carpet was coming out of Georgia, our railings were custom, we just did not anticipate Josh delivering so quickly. Mariseo is awesome and a true artist. Every time we had a concern Josh handled it the next day and Josh is unflappable. Never reactive, only proactive and serene. We would recommend Josh and plan to use him again on the next project. If I could give more stars, I would. We were so impressed with Josh and his crew through every step of our construction/remodel. I didn't believe him when he said he could add a bedroom, a loft, and an upstairs laundry enclosure AND remodel my kitchen and downstairs bathroom in 4 weeks. Not only did he do it in 4 weeks, he did it on budget and exceeded our expectations in the quality of the work. It was a stressful time for me and my husband. I was 9 months pregnant when work began and came home with a 5 day old infant when it was completed. Josh made the whole process as stress-free as possible. Not only is he a great contractor but a very considerate person as well. He was able to give us suggestions on how to save money and even figured out how to make an upstairs laundry work even when the architect couldn't. Protex recently finished a two-room addition to our house. After getting 6 bids, Josh was the most professional and his estimate was highly competitive. His sub-contractors were also as professional and as skillful as he is. What really impressed me is how organized Josh is; there was never any "down time. Everyday there was someone working on the project. The add-on was organic to the existing structure and one could never tell it wasn't part of the original structure. My family loves the new rooms. I had a few items on a home inspection that came up during escrow while selling my Upland home. I called Protex on a Monday about obtaining an estimate from them and Lisa told me "Thursday would be the soonest that he'd be able to go to your house." I had not heard from them on Thursday so I called and the story changed, Lisa told me that she said to me that Josh "might" be able to get out there on Thursday. She told me she would call me back. She did not call me back, she did not respond to my email Friday morning so I had to call her Friday evening. She then told me they were going to decline the estimate due to work load. That's fine...but why was I not told this on Monday? They wasted 5 days of my time which is critical during a 30 day escrow period. Now I am in a position where I am out of time to get another estimate. Can't speak for their work because they totally blew me off and were not upfront when I called them, I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

We can't say enough good things about Josh and his team. This spring, we had three contractors (including Josh) come out to give us estimates for a loft addition to our home - Josh stood out from the beginning with his warm, genuine demeanor and prompt estimate that was straightforward and honest. One of the other contractors never got back to us at all, and the third took constant reminders and follow up, while Josh was right on top of things. The loft addition itself took only 7 business days, and looks absolutely outstanding. The team was always on time, clean, and courteous. Our 2.5 yo son also adores Josh and we didn't feel intruded on at all as he was so personable and accommodating to our schedule and needs. With any issue that arose, he took care of them immediately without any stress or cost to us. His efficiency, honesty, and work ethic are outstanding. He is not your "typical contractor' by any means and will get things done on time (or ahead) of schedule and be completely honest. Our final bill came in right online, if not a bit below, his estimate.
