Update: Since I had my windows installed I have brought Josh and his team back twice! I live in a condo and my neighbor had a water line break, which caused water damage to my house. Called Josh and he was at my place in no time with equipment that helped keep the damage to a minimum. His team replaced all the dry wall, insulation, painted and got us back to normal in no time. I really appreciate how much care goes into their work. Josh and team returned and within a week transformed my backyard from from a mess that I would not let my Son play in to a beautiful place my family can't get enough of. Even while on vacation Josh stayed in touch to make sure I was happy. Protex is a great company. Try them, you won't be disappointed. read more

We added a small loft space to our condo for a new office. Josh's guys were fast, efficient, and clean. Everything was so easy and it was all over in a little less than a week! Protex also had the best/comprehensive bid and was the most professional at our meeting. Did I mention how clean his guys were? We love our new office, it looks like it was always meant to be there. read more

Protex Construction - Our new loft/office space - General Contractors Near Me

I had Josh and his Protex team do a full kitchen renovation, replace some windows, add a patio with cover, add a laundry room and install recessed lighting.... I've worked with contractors before, and I have to say, Josh is by far the most trustworthy, dependable, communicative and customer oriented one I've ever met. If I had questions or concerns, he not only responded quickly, he addressed them and insured that I was kept in the loop and satisfied with the results. I love, love, love my kitchen! What a beautiful job! The lighting (amount of and placement of) is perfect. The patio is my new oasis, and my new laundry room The fact that I have now turned a critical eye to other areas of my house is a direct result, and a testament to, the amazing job that Josh, Omar and their team did! A bathroom renovation is in their future :) I wouldn't want anyone else! Thank you Josh! :) read more

I contacted Josh to help with remodeling my bathrooms and kitchen. He showed up on time to provide an estimate that was competitive, fair and the work was even broken down line by line so that pricing was always transparent. For the amount of work that needed to be done, I was pleasantly surprised that his crew was able to work so efficiently and quick to get everything completed. The majority of the work was completed in 2 weeks, compared to another contractor that I used on my previous home that took 4-5 weeks! Josh was also flexible with my schedule during the holidays, and agreed to shift work around as needed. During the project, I pointed out a few minor items that I was unhappy with and Josh took care of these without any hesitation or fuss. All of his workers and subcontractors lead by Omar were respectful and clean around my house, and their work turned out great. It's hard to find a good contractor with integrity, so I'm definitely keeping Protex around. Thanks Josh, Omar and team! read more

Josh and his company really get the job done. We had several major projects: a bathroom remodel, a whole house repiping, and repairing water damage to our kitchen, in addition to replacing floors. We began with only the bathroom remodel, but at the same time, we had to repipe our house and there was additional water damage in our kitchen. Josh did a great job adapting to all the extra work that we gave him. He is very clear about costs and everything is very transparent. The most impressive thing about Josh is his responsiveness: recently, we had a problem with the towel bars in the bathroom, and I hesitated to call Josh because it was over a year since he completed the job for us. I texted him, and in two days he was back over fixing our towel bars! This is a level of service and commitment that is seldom seen with contractors. Excellent work and responsiveness. read more

Protex (Josh) did our kitchen renovation, wall opening to living room, earthquake repairs in the attic. Josh and his team were very professional. They covered my wood floors and bagged the kitchen area. They were punctual everyday and finished the majority of the job surprisingly quickly. They completed the project on time as promised, even with the changes that we made. Josh was excellent in resolving issues and problems that came up. He was easy to reach by phone or text. Their pricing is excellent compared to others. Josh never pressured us but instead gave us many options to meet our tight budget. I'm very happy with the results. I would highly recommend letting Josh give you an estimate for your project. read more

They remodeled our master bedroom and bathroom back in 2019 and I regret ever hiring them. Josh had come in to give an estimate, but wasn't around when the work was actually being done because he was going out of town. The people he hired to do the work did a poor job and left piles of trash in our back yard. The tiles were so poorly cut, he brought in a second person to take down the whole thing and re-do them. It was better, but still bad - and at that point, I just wanted them out of my house! They didn't clean the concrete floor completely, so there are little bumps under the flooring. When I pointed them out, they said it was taken care of - only to find out months later that all they did was pound the bumps with a hammer to flatten them - and then the bumps come back. We chose a under-mount sink for the vanity, and just yesterday the sink fell through! So now we're having someone else re-install the sink and put it some adequate support. I've never seen a sink just fall through the countertop - and it's only been 2 years! Horrible! read more

We recently remodeled our detached garage, adding electrical, plumbing, a mini split, recessed lighting, a new window, door, reinforced roof, drywall and creating drainage away from the property. It wasn't a terribly glamorous job but it did have a lot of moving parts and I was so happy to have Josh as our contractor to organize the various teams coming in at different points. I initially hired Protex because Josh hit the right price point on his quote, but more than being on budget I think the best part about hiring them was their soft skills! Josh was very easy to get ahold of via text or cell and if I was gone for the day and had a question about something done or needed something changed after the fact, he was very responsive and by the next day the item was fixed. If I was home and happened to communicate directly with the team, I could also do that successfully in English which was a perk for me. The only major hiccup we had was orange peel had been sprayed when I wanted skim coat; I brought it up to the painters, they stopped, and contacted Josh. The next day it was gone. Honestly, the whole project was really easy which I would attribute to the great communication. Josh, the main guys working on our property (Art and Mike), and even their office manager, Lisa (who I communicated with regarding billing) were all so nice and genuine. Our dogs also loved them! Construction of any sort can be stressful and disrupting and I found the team at Protex were just such great people that it really made the project a much easier and more enjoyable experience than I could have imagined. It was icing on the cake that we came in on budget and for less than I was quoted by some other unsavory CL characters. We would wholly recommend Protex and hope to use them again in the future. read more

Protex's license is suspended for violating Contractor License Law. The Contractor's State Licensing Board indicates they have suspended the license due to Josh's non payment of workman's compensation insurance. I must say I am not surprised to learn this information. Protex is a shady company that does shoddy work. Josh did a whole house remodel on a home we were moving into and it was a nightmare. He had four weeks to complete two weeks worth of work and there are still items that are not complete. For starters Josh and his team treated our home like it was a dump. His workers and subs constantly left food trash around the property which attracted ants and rodents. Construction debris routinely piled up and beer cans and cigarette butts where often observed in the rubble piles. One of the workers routinely smoked in our garage leaving smoke odors that took months to get rid of. They used one of the bedrooms as a staging area for upstairs debris and didn't even bother to protect the carpet with plastic. The work was not completed on time and Josh was never around to supervise the work. The kitchen island cabinets were installed 3" out of square with the rest of our kitchen. We bought and paid for the baseboards and the crown molding ourselves and Josh installed them in areas of the home we did not request causing our material budget to double for these items. Crown molding was installed upside down in two rooms, and out of sequence with other work twice causing removal and re-installation which only caused even more delays. Plumbing fixtures were removed that were not part of the scope of work. The workers routinely left the exterior doors open which allowed lizards and even a bird to enter the home. The jetted tub did not work properly, but Josh refused to troubleshoot the problem claiming it was a manufacturer's issue without even looking at the unit. The toilet Josh installed in the master bathroom had a slow leak for weeks which caused damage and mold to baseboards and drywall. I had to fix the leaking supply line myself because Josh was "too busy" and Protex has never repaired the baseboard or drywall. We came to find out later, Protex's crew used to be wood framers for track homes, but Josh routinely asks them to perform plumbing and electrical work, where he should be using subcontractors licensed and trained for that specific trade. The work was not invoiced in a professional manner or on time. We believe this was done on purpose in hopes that we wouldn't remember what a crappy job Josh had done and he could still get paid in full. Anyone considering hiring Protex should do their homework. Check their license with the California State License Board..www.cslb.ca.gov. Protex License number is 943626. As indicated, their license is currently suspended. read more

Protex Construction built a room addition onto my house. Josh and his team worked well with the architect and the city inspector to get the job done right. Josh made some suggestions throughout the course of the project that saved us time and money. I have recommended Protex Construction to friends, family, and neighbors for a variety of projects. Their pride in craftsmanship is aligned with the pride I take in my house. Thank you, Josh and team! read more

I hired Protex to tear down and rebuild my wooden balcony and patio cover at my home in Chino Hills. Protex is local and in addition to being able to support a local business, I found Josh and Lisa to be great to work with. Omar and his crew stated work in one of the hottest weeks of the summer. They were great and even in the extreme heat worked full days to get the job finished. It only took them a week. When finished, I walked the job and asked Omar to fix a couple of minor issues. it was immediately fixed. I am very happy with my new balcony and patio cover. It is not always easy to find a good contractor in SoCal who is not out to take you. Believe me. You will be happy with Josh and Protex Construction. read more

As soon as Josh of Protex began walking through my house to develop an estimate, his knowledge and aptitude for everything shined. Just on this walk-through, I learned things about my house from him. He also made some creative suggestions I hadn't considered. Protex's estimate was reasonable, but for the moment, we will go with a friend of a friend to do the work, because of the connection. But I suspect that ultimately we will go with Josh and Protex to complete the work when this other contractor fails. Either through fixing another contractor's work or through future projects, like painting the interior, we will definitely invite Protex back. How refreshing to find excellence in general contracting! read more

We are so happy with our beautiful kitchen and recommend Protex Construction, if you have a home remodel project. Josh Menashe is an awesome business owner and project manager. He provided a fair bid, his team was hard working and friendly, and he was always just a text away. No hidden costs or surprises, payments well coordinated, and Josh made frequent site visits. Our remodel was a full kitchen gut and redo, but we wanted to keep the wood floor. Josh and his team made that possible. The final result has us smiling! read more

We had the best experience with Protex. We did several projects (hidden TV in the ceiling on the patio, laundry room, two bathrooms and a master bath) because the experience was great. read more

Hired Josh to take out the wall between our living room and kitchen, redo the floors and fireplace. He was recommended from our neighbors who did something similar to their house so we felt pretty good about going with Josh but he and his team were outstanding. We got other bids but Josh was very helpful answering our questions, providing input into design ideas, etc. making us feel comfortable that he knew what he was doing. Josh was constantly checking in and keeping us informed of what was going on, and if I had any questions or concerns he'd get back to me quickly and get it resolved. We were stressed because the Covid19 shutdown happened right after we started construction but Josh and team managed to get it done with little delay. His crew is also top notch and professional. Showed up early in the morning, worked hard, and tidied up the work site before leaving. Great guy and team to work with and would highly recommend anyone looking to get some work done. read more

Josh recently completed a tub to shower conversion project for our guest bathroom. The new shower looks amazing and the project was completed by the contractual deadline even with a slight increase in scope for unexpected drywall repair work. The entire process was smoother than expected (too many bad stories). Most of the communications with Josh was through text messages and he was responsive to my questions and requests. From the demo, framing, hot mopping, to tiling and plumbing, all his crew was courteous and kept the house clean which I appreciated. This was the first time that I used Protex for home remodeling and definitely will not be the last. In fact, we immediately rehired him for our master bath retiling work read more

Josh and his team did a great job on our commercial project from plans to permits to completing the job on budget. It took a long time for the city to approve the permits and Protex was really proactive in following up with the engineer, the city, and keeping us in the loop. We recently used Josh and his guys to do a tenant improvement for our business. Once they pulled the permit, the work went fast and without a hitch. I can go on a rant but it is really simple, these guys say what they're going to do, and then just do it. No hidden charges, some up front anticipated additional costs, but other expected worst case scenario items didn't happen monies were adjusted out. Job came in under original estimate and very easy to work with, and Josh is a nice honest person. We will use Josh for our next location TI needs. read more

You know you read about nightmare experiences people have had with home remodels. I'm happy to say that was not even close to the experience I had with Protex Construction. After contacting several other contractors that had been referred to me, I read reviews for Protex and decided to meet with Josh. Best decision I ever made! Every room in my home needed work done. After meeting with Josh to discuss what I wanted and getting his feedback and quote, I decided to go with Protex. From start to finish the experience was absolutely awesome. Josh kept me informed almost daily. Calls, emails, texts sent photos of progress. Provided valuable input and cost saving suggestion. His team was always professional, friendly and courteous. The only changes to my quote were changes I made. The work was completed on schedule if not a little early. Being a single woman I had no apprehension or concerns thanks to Josh! Josh is a man of integrity who truly cares that the client's expectations have been met. Without hestition, I would highly recommend him to anyone! I had a good experience with Protex Construction. My family had been living with a drab entry room in our house for eight years. Every time we tidied up to prepare for visitors, my wife and I thought, "One day, we're going to change this crummy room so it looks exactly how we want it." Well, thanks to Josh and Protex Construction, that day finally arrived. The Protex team, led by Brian, did outstanding work, and from day one, it felt like we were old friends. They removed built-in shelves and cabinets, widened a doorway, patched, textured, and painted walls, ceiling, and chimney, installed new air vents, light fixtures, and switches, found and fixed an electrical hazard in our attic, and renovated the hearth. They also replaced a bathroom vanity, fixed a plumbing issue, removed an old wall heater and medicine cabinet, and patched, textured, and painted the bathroom walls. Brian and his crew are nice guys who listen to you and then basically give you whatever you want. They're attentive to detail and creative when it comes to solving problems. When my family is ready for our next project, we'll be giving Protex a call. One more thing: Brian is family friendly; our three young kids--especially our four-year-old daughter--were VERY interested in all the happenings, and Brian was patient and kind. read more

We have just completed a complete kitchen remodel with Josh and Protex Construction after some water damage destroyed our previous kitchen. They were a pleasure to do business with from the very beginning until the project was completed. They understood we were having to deal with our insurance company due to the nature of the damage and were completely understanding and willing to work with us and the insurance adjuster when needed. We had an 11 month old at the time the job started and Josh and his guys were all very kind to our young one and willing to work around him and the challenges that having a baby in the house caused for them. They were even willing to let out cats out of the bedroom when they were done with work at the end of the day!! We were forced to move out of the house while much of the work was being completed and Protex was wonderful about making sure that we were kept informed every step of the way even when we were not there. I received a text or a call every day to update me on exactly what was being done, who would be in my house and when. I appreciated that the workers showed up on time every morning and that work continued on a day to day basis, there were not days when no one showed up to work because they were at another job. I felt like my small job was as big a priority as anything else they may have worked on. The work zone was completely tented off from the rest of the house to cut down on mess and Protex even arranged for the house to be cleaned before we moved back in. Excellent service. We were equally happy with the quality of the work that was done. Our new kitchen is just gorgeous! Josh was great to help me with the planning and design and the crew carried out our vision perfectly. I cannot believe this is the same space we started in. We will definitely go to Protex for any future home projects. read more

Love Protex Construction! I had Josh and his team enclose a loft (which was above my living room) into a 5th Bedroom. My husband and I couldn't be happier! They did a fantastic job! He even added sound board under the drywall which makes it so quiet! I can hardly hear anything downstairs! YIPPEE! The crew was always punctual and polite. They prepped EVERYTHING to keep dust and debris to a minimum, and always kept me in the loop with how everything was going.
