I have no idea what is going on with your company, but it is not good. I have been there customer for many years. I think they were recently bought ADT. I have called for weeks to reschedule a service appointment, when they couldn't fix a keypad, and needed to order the part. No one ever calls me back. Today I called again. The system said it would be 35 minute wait to speak to someone. I chose to have them call me back. When they did, the agent couldn't figure out where my house was. He finally tried to set up an appointment in my old house in Fresno...where I have never had their service. I asked to speak to a supervisor, got a guy who could not speak English. This has been going on for over a month. I'm ready to pull my hair out. read more

I strongly recommend you look elsewhere for an alarm service. Poor service, and insufferable customer support. Our service with this group stopped working in June. Attempts to get them to correct the problem went through September, but the service never worked. I called mid-September and canceled my account. Boy! They put me through hell to cancel it. You had better reserve a whole day if you want to cancel service with these people; you have to send in all this paper documentation, talk to many different people, and MANY long holds. They refused to refund any of the time when the service didn't work. But what my biggest beef with them was is that they continued to bill me, stating that it took 60 days to cancel the account, and I had to continue to pay another two months, even through my service didn't work. Stay away! This company is a scam. I have been with them for over 10 years and it is ONLY because they have me locked into a contract. I would never use them again. First of all their reps are scam artist. Their equipment is out dated and is always going off without cause. They are a nationwide security company that provides services to both residential and commercial customers alike. I did not actually visit the office, but the San Diego office is located in Poway and their technicians are SD locals. Heads up, I have had them monitoring my home for about a year now and wanted to recap my experiences with them. As a USAA member, I was referred to this company since they do special pricing offers for USAA. The consultation and appointment process was easy. A little bit info regarding costs that annoyed me a bit was that the salesman didn't disclose the fire and police permit application and fees that you have to pay on your own after the installation was done. That process took at least 2 months of sending payment to the SD city government and getting approval. Anyways, the technician that came to set up shop was great, well trained, informative, and patient to answer questions completely. We were exploring all access of the house and safety issues. He actually came back yesterday to install a couple more options, and I was glad it was the same technician that I can trust. Thank you P1 for your service and surveillance. The problem started when I tried to cancel my contract. The reason I was cancelling is that the fees kept increasing significantly each year. As soon as I received my annual invoice, I called to cancel my service. They called repeatedly to try to convince me to "come back." I told them the fees were too high and no longer competitive with other companies. Then they sent me to their Collections Agency because I didn't give 30 days notice prior to cancellation. The real issue here is that I didn't receive my annual renewal form until 2 weeks prior to the due date. Apparently I have to give 30 days notice but they do not. I would not recommend this company. There are many other very reputable security companies that have better customer service and lower rates. Look around and save yourself a headache. read more

After 16 years of service with this company, I have very little good to say. Because I got this service as a single woman living off of 4 Acres I was hoping to feel some peace of mind. I recently had a move and although my loyalty to them was still there it was not reciprocated. They refused to work with me and are charging me to replace equipment for the move I recently made. I guess loyalty doesn't matter to this company for $249 they're willing to lose a 16 year, loyal, customer. I paid for the best program they had. Always paid my bill on time. We have been customers for 20 years and never had any issues or needed them. Our alarm started randomly going off, and we decided to cancel the service after paying for 20 years. No one will come out and disconnect the battery on the system in the attic! They told us to climb up there and do it. Really???? After paying them for 20 years????? Very unpleasant as well. Protection 1 has terrible customer service. We were Protection 1 clients for over 16 years. We had multiple hardware malfunctions, and Protection 1 doesn't provide service calls on the weekend. We paid for the hardware insurance, and didn't get to use it. Which service company doesn't work on the weekends any more? We were on vacation during one of our hardware malfunctions. Protection 1 was not able to remotely disable our system. They said it would take one day for that to take effect. That doesn't make any sense. If they had the ability to turn off our system by tomorrow, why couldn't they do it immediately? We were lucky our neighbor was home, so he turned it off for us. When I called to upgrade our system, so we would have more control over the system, Protection 1 would not honor their website pricing. They let a 16 year client leave over $70.00. In the end, I am glad we were forced to make a change. I would not recommend Protection 1. There are many other security companies taking their business. read more

I would not recommend this company. Any company that misleads you with small print should be a BIG red flag. I moved my business location and was unable to get out of my contract- this was after doing business with them for a few years. I paid invoices for another 24 month period- even though I moved into a security building and did not need an alarm service. After my 24 months I called to not renew. They told me my contract had "rolled over" automatically for another year, and therefore I needed to pay 9 months worth of fees- as stated in the small print. What a scam. These guys are the worst! We have them for fire monitoring at our place of business. Recently we have had to call because our alarm won't stop ringing. Last week after I gave them my information and password, the lady first told me how to silence it. When I told her I didn't have the buttons she was talking about, she then realized it was a commercial fire alarm.....not super comforting to say the least. Then she said she could get a tech out in 4 days....when I asked her how was I supposed to to run a 24 hour business with a ringing alarm? She told me she could do nothing about it. Then the ringing randomly stopped. The tech came out 4 days later, put up a new antennae, said all was good. That very night the alarm starting going off again at 11 o'clock at night. The staff reset the alarm, it went off several more times but stopped around 2:00 a.m. I then get a wake up call at 4:38 after all has settled down to tell me there was trouble in the line! Not happy! I called the call center in the morning, I was not happy, but not ranting and the lady on the phone told me to "calm down!" Seriously?? She made an appointment for next Monday, once again, the alarm goes off, my husband called, and once again he was told it would be 4 days until a tech could come out....what kind of service is this? She puts him on hold, comes back and says "we can send a tech out at 5:00 pm but it will cost you $300+ dollars!" He said forget it....we will figure it out! Protection 1 deserves 100 stars. I had a system installed in my business last Friday. The installation was extremely quick. There were a couple of issues, so I e-mailed Protection 1 late Friday night, not expecting a response until Monday, if at all. I was delighted to receive a phone call on Saturday from a manager at Protection 1 headquarters. First thing Monday morning an executive from Protection 1 in Kansas, one from Utah and one from the local office met me at my business. They listed to my concerns and offered me a solution that was above and beyond my expectations. By 6 o'clock, the installer returned and upgraded my system to one that far surpasses anything I could have even imagined. I'm able to lock and unlock the door to my business from my phone and have a 360 degree view of my business too. I can see what time employees come in and leave right on my phone. As if that wasn't enough, I received a phone call the next day saying I was getting two months free. I read a couple of negative yelp reviews, and they complain about the contract. In my experience, I was told the contract was 3 and a half years. Considering the free equipment and installation Protection 1 provided, I don't think it's unreasonable they want to make sure you keep the system long enough to make it worthwhile for them. Based on my experience, I would highly, highly, highly recommend Protection 1. I haven't seen that kind of customer service EVER. I feel like I'm the President, and they really make you feel like they value you as a customer. read more

I was delighted with the way Protection one responded to my specific needs to assess a desired security upgrade and especially that on a day with near "biblical levels of rain" - Was that an Ark I saw? - a weak humorous attempt to deal with thunder, lightening, sinkholes, and standing water in an area that receives less than 10 inches of rain a YEAR getting 2 to 4 inches a day over about two weeks of storms. I not the first appointment of the day for my technician and unfortunately due to rain and unexpected complexity of his previous appointment, MY TECHNICIAN JUAN H.was delayed getting to my appointment. I first contacted ADT customer service and SARA, ADT customer service, placed me in direct contact with Protection one, MIKE. As a protection one member, I am grandfathered in to ADT in a way that maintains my rights and privileges as a customer of Protection one. Recently, I was interested in adding an additional layer of security and spoke to company representatives in the ADT/Protection one sales department. I I have a professional work background of more than 15 years that requires an understanding of the basics of layers of defense of facilities including small office space, buildings, and compounds large and small. It also included frequent reviews of facilities for compliance with a series of well defined, strictly enforced regulations. As a result of my years of training, I am keenly aware of the need for a site assessment to layout the alternative placement of sensors and other devices to maximize coverage with effective use of the alternative devices. In order to truly determine the advantages, vulnerabilities (hardware, communication methods - "traditional" hard line connections, wifi, cellular, battery powered verses a combination of electricity with battery backup - and the implications of various software, ports used for access through firewalls, communications monitoring, and manned patrols. Clearly my suburban home was not Fort Knox and didn't require a "Fort Knox James Bond level Gold Finger proof solution". In my case I am not protecting Gold or diamonds, which are forever, my apologies to Ian Fleming (author of the books) and Producer Harry Saltzman and his company who made/make the wonderfully entertaining movies I have anxiously waited to see since I first read the books in paperback was too young to get intio the theaters without a parent! I selected Protection one, as they were one of two preferred providers suggested by my auto/home insurance company. My insurance company has been wonderful and I'm their loyal customer - for more than than 20 years. This is not my first home alarm system, but it is by far the most complex system I have personally owned and pay monthly to keep. I have not been compensated by ADT/Protection one or my Home insurance company, other than taking advantage a free install program advertised on TV for any and all customers/members of the public. read more

I will start out this review by telling you I have been a Protection One customer for over 20 years. They were a good company but now they are the pits. They do not keep their word and have no qualms about harassing their customers. Twenty years ago I bought an alarm system from them with a lifetime warranty. It was a great system until the motherboard died 1 1/2 years ago. Apparently their lifetime warranty meant when my system died, so did the warranty! After speaking with numerous employees, I agreed to buy a new system from them for $975. plus pay additional $15.00 a month for monitoring fees. I was lead to believe the new system would be wireless but the only thing wireless is the door/window sensors. I was also told that it would be fine to pay off the system at $100.00 per month which I have done for the past 14 months. Protection One has been bought out by ADT and ADT was offering free alarm systems to new customers shortly after I agreed to purchase my new system which is a piece of garbage. Protection One has decided to NOT honor our financial arrangement and has taken to harassing me by phone and refusing to service my system, even though I have a lifetime warranty with this new system too. I can say nothing detrimental about their service techs but their office staff are rude and stupid. If they will treat a customer of long standing this badly, what do you think your chances are of being treated fairly? Do yourself a favor, read the other reviews and call one of their competitors if you need a new alarm. read more

Protection one are the real crooks to fear. After 20 + years we moved to a new building and had a new systems installed, you think it would be better but in fact it is worse. Daily false alarms that I was told I would be reimbursed for, but they failed to tell me they had a 90 day cut off, so I only will get back a partial of what I have been charged. Our problems go back to when we bought the $5000.00 worth of equipment and had it installed. They know the equipment does not work they have had a tech come out many times dating back to soon after the installation. I have spoken to managers and supervisors and they just don't care, I am told they made the decision and won't budge, and they do not care if I cancel the service after 24 years because they will charge me early termination fee's. Heads they win, tails I lose. Stay away from ADT and Protection one, they are not a reputable company, I have contacted a lawyer and will pursue this from that angle, again, read all the reviews, we all echo the same thing, equipment does not work correctly and they don't care. I never post on Yelp, but am totally at a loss with this company! Having problems using our camera, so called for help. To make a LONG story short, we were told that our internet security password is TOO SECURE to use with their cameras!!!!!! We've been advised (along with everyone else in the world) to make our passwords as secure as possible, so we now use a few lesser used characters in our password (&%$#@, e.g....). Well guess what, they told us to dumb down our secure password in order to use the camera we have paid for. When we said no way, please reimburse us for camera, they refused. I was with them for 7 years. *The service was mediocre *The iOS app never worked *The web interface was painful and did not work with any modern browser BUT THE WORST PART IS WHEN YOU TRY TO QUIT. I tried to quit 4 months ago, I followed their 30 day notice procedure, but they have billed me for service that I stopped, took over two months to pickup the old equipment, and will not stop harassing me with robot calls, sometimes several per day!! So this week one of their salesman by the name of Matt came to my door saying that he was doing an upgrade to my alarm system and they were taking over for the old alarm company. He had all of our information on his ipad, so things looked legit, boy was I wrong. My mother had her alarm system put in by security networks which is a great company by the way. My mother is ill and I was talking to this dude about the alarm system. To sum it all up, my mother told me to call the actual alarm company to check if they were doing upgrades with fraudtection one, and they told me this was not true, fraudtection one is doing anything and saying anything they can to get customers, their company sucks and they have lost a lot of business. No wonder they go around telling lies to people who have legit security systems. I called up Matt and gave him an ear full, told him not to send his tech out to my house and he should have been ashamed of himself taking advantage of people. He sat there listening as I told him about my dying mother, he had no conscious at all to get up even and leave as he knew of the lies he was telling. I just recently moved from Las Vegas to San Diego into a condo with an old, out-of-date security system. Shortly after, I was approached at my home by a Protection One Rep by the name of Matthew Haynes. He was professional and courteous, and took the time to walk me thru all the great new features- cellular, cameras, etc. I took a moment to review the BBB rating and was pleased with their A+ rating. After signing a contract, my system was installed that same day. I couldn't be happier with the service I received, and will sleep better knowing my home is now secure. I hate door to door salesmen as much as the next guy and when a rep from protection one came knocking on my door I showed it. I hate being bothered while I a at home and have always felt if I wanted something I would go get it myself. For some reason I listened to this guy, he mentioned how my system ran through my land line and how easy it is to bypass. It started to make sense. He ended up giving me a cellular system with mobile control, so I can arm me system through my cell phone anywhere in the world. He also put a camera and a couple other features my previous company doesn't even have available. They covered the cost of the equipment and install and it only changed my monitoring by a few dollars. If a protection one salesman knocks on your door, I would give him a chance, I couldn't be happier. read more

I've been a customer for 16 years. All was well until I chose to add video cams which required me to "upgrade" my system the end of 2016 & it has been a nightmare ever since. Downgrade is more like it & if not for this contract, I would throw them out in the street where they belong. Go find another company interested in keeping their customers. As stated by another, the tech was honest & competent unlike most of them. At least he had the decency to ask if I knew what I was getting (yep, red flag, I should have bailed). This is a true demonstration of the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing all throughout the Co. I had a couple of gems trying to make things right; however the others are still harassing me stating my account is in jeopardy (sure bc that's what a paying customer of 16 years does!) unless I pay a balance that exists...said balance changes like the wind. This was $300, $0, then $50 & now $150. I have my account on auto pay btw. I have put in a days work attempting to straighten this out...a supervisor stated she would call back & never did. Again harassed everyday & I requested the super to call me back...done repeating myself...now the threatening emails. If I could rate them 0 stars, I would. It appears that scams seem to be common with the reviews. I would have to agree. The rep I dealt with quoted me service based on a 1 year contract, in writing. We expressed that we only had a year lease and he assured us no problem. Well come to find out when canceling service he had put us in a 5 year plan. When contacting Protection One directly, the rep I worked with no longer worked there but since I did have our e-mail correspondence they assured me that I would be able to cancel without penalty. I get a surprise phone call today 3 months later saying, "oh bad news the VP didn't approve the cancellation you will still owe through the end of the contract" which is thousands of dollars. We recently switched from ADT to Protection One. We were so surprised with the customer service. Matthew Haynes was the gentlemen who told us about how we could switch for the same price and get much better monitoring and equipment. I was really concerned when I found out that ADT doesn't even call the police they send out a guy first to make sure there is really a problem. I now have tough screen monitors that tell me the weather. I have a camera that will take photos if we have a break-in so I can show the police, we have key faubs and a motion sensor for when we aren't home, but my favorite new feature is the smart phone app, so if I forget to alarm my house and I am at the bank I can do it from my phone. it is better to have a 3 leg, blind dog as a security system that this company. forget trying to cancelled it requires an act of congress to achieve that. technicians does not show on schedule time, but that is ok we are in their time. after making numerous mistakes time and time again they asked to give them a chance to prove them selves just to fail again to prove that the 97.3% is grated on a very large curve and the irony does not stop there as you get place on hold for years you hear the message that said "are you tired of companies making appt. and the technicians not showing we have tech tracking"..as you are calling because the technician did not show for the 2nd time in a row. so is misery and disappointment is what you looking for I will fully recommend this company. read more
