From the first visit, Dr. Kong was a lifesaver for my dad: * He took the time to review my dad's ER records and explain clearly what was going on with his severely enlarged prostate. * He removed the catheter safely, did a careful voiding trial, and made sure my dad could urinate on his own before letting him leave. * He started the right medications, monitored my dad closely, and set up a logical plan for follow‑up and long‑term management. * He spoke to us with respect and empathy, answered all our questions, and treated my dad as a person, not a number. I received three injections over several months, but unfortunately, I did not experience any relief. After one of the injections, I noticed a visible indentation and some skin discoloration at the injection site. When I mentioned this at my next appointment, Dr. Goranson told me that this can sometimes happen if the medication enters the muscle and causes atrophy, and that it usually improves over time. He then suggested another injection, but I chose not to proceed. Since my symptoms continued, I sought a second opinion. The next doctor confirmed that the issue was related to the injection and diagnosed it as fat necrosis, which she explained is not reversible. As a result, before even attempting surgery, Dr. Goranson caused me significant and permanent physical and emotional harm.

The provider was Tanvi Mamtora. During the appointment, I was asked to do all kinds of the postures and tests to identify my problems. I was billed Manual Ther Tech 1+Regions - 97140 (CPT®) $175.00 and Pt Eval Low Complex 20 Min - 97161 (CPT®)$374.00 And the doctor was asking me to practice certain movements to do it at home everyday. I thought that was a demonstration but I was billed as Therapeutic Exercises Ea 15 Min - 97110 (CPT®) $178.00. If I know they charge like this, I never would like to go to the appointment. I rather use the money to Yoga or Pilates class since the fee is more reasonable and effective to cure my issue. I am trying to disputing the bill and I feel it is like a long path full of troubles. I have to back and forward to call/chat the insurance company and message/call PAMF billing. They said based on their internal research, the codes are all correct and ask me to appeal the claim again if I don't agree. It is still ongoing issue. I wish this review can help people who just got referral to see the physical therapy. Please be aware of it.

The clinic is always spotless, and the high ceilings provide excellent ventilation--much better than the cramped, gym-like feel of other PT places. What really keeps us coming back is the professionalism, kindness, and genuine dedication of the entire staff. Over the years, I've tried several other physical therapy clinics in the area, but none matched the quality of care and personal attention PT Works provides. Unfortunately, a few comparable places have shut down--unable to survive financially in the Bay Area. PT Works no longer accepts my insurance, but I believe that's part of how they're managing to stay open and maintain the high level of care. If you wait in his office, it's because he is being a good doctor and not leaving the office at 4pm every day....old time service, not managed care big clinic delivery of care and f/u with physician extenders like PAs and NPs. Terrific surgeon and great preoperative and postoperative care. FYI I have also been referring patients to him for 30 years plus because of his skill and care in taking care of patients.
