I have nothing but good things to say about my experience at this clinic. I really rushed to be on time but invariably I was five minutes late and I wasn't sure what to expect. Happily, I was still greeted with open arms and smiles. For a Monday morning, I thought that was pretty great! There was a question as to whether or not my health plan would be accepted for insurance payment as I was not sure. I was told it would be OK to move forward with the consultation with Monalisa, their orthotic fitter so if my plan approved I would not need to drive from Half Moon Bay to Campbell again. Monalisa was so professional and cheerful, while being exquisite with her care, precision and working with me to get fitted for orthotics. She's real asset to the team and she's certified. I really enjoyed my interactions with her. Upon follow up, I learned that indeed my insurance would not cover orthotic work (unless I was a diabetic& I am not diabetic) at this at this clinic and that I needed to go somewhere else in Mountain View. I will do so but I made sure to let Monalisa know how much I appreciated her care and let them know at the front desk how wonderful they were, but that I could not move forward. Mona was great with the shoe selection and fitting. Liz the front office billing, insurance, appointment specialist was professional like always. The new front receptionist was also very attentive and offered excellent greetings to all patients. I chose these Mt Emey's to change up the tennis shoe low cut style. The hiking boot selection offered with the extra wide made it easy to use on the left side I have the AFO brace to wear. They took care of me and I will return to replace this old AFO brace. Hanger is no longer fit people for custom-made shoes in San Mateo or Mountain View. You now have to go all the way down to Campbell to be fitted and order the shoes that's a shame if all of San Mateo County and Santa Clara County have to go down that far just to be fitted for shoes. I mainly decided to come here to leave a review because an office staff member named Liz, was disrespectful to me over the phone. I could mention quite a few things that haven't gone well but how I am personally treated matters a lot to me. I was speaking to her on the phone and she disrespected me by talking over me and while I was still trying to get out what I wanted to say, she starts saying my name over and over again while I was still talking. I recently had bunion surgery and my doctor recommended that I have special insoles made. I was called by this facility to book an appointment. My appointment was booked 3 months out. I never received an appointment reminder at any point and time. I called several times to confirm my appointment time and they never got back to me. The person that did answer told me they couldn't provide me with any information. I walked into the office at a assumed time and was never greeted or provided with any information. I Waited 1 hour. On my second visit it was a little better, because the doctor was very informative and my insoles fit great. The office itself needs a huge update and looks dirty, outdated and old. Doctor was great, but office staff not so great. One star for my insoles and another star for the doctor. read more

I love this place! All of The staff are amazing! I am currently in a wheelchair and Have to Uber to my appointments. Once I arrive I call the front desk and one of the front desk ladies will come to my Uber and push me to the office. They all are so kind and welcoming. Hector was very helpful and made me feel better about my situation and now I have a cool brace customized just for me which helps me keep my leg more stable . read more

It was a very frustrating experience. The staff doesn't have the knowledge for her work, nor does she care about it. Think twice before you go there. Be aware they may make basic mistakes, and you will be asked to cover them with YOUR time and money. Short story: The staff submitted incomplete documents to my insurance, resulting in a denial of pre-approval. 3 weeks were waisted in the turnaround, and they further asked me to pay for the procedure and appeal to the insurance company myself. I was hoping that they might consider submitting a new claim with the full list of documents instead, because it was a time-sensitive procedure and appealing usually takes 1 month+. Nope! Self-pay was my only option to proceed, according to their policy. I ended up going else where. And I really regret choosing them in the first place. read more

If you expect professionals at Hanger Clinics @ Ciro Avenue, Suite 240 San Jose, CA 95128 think again as they are extraordinarily unprofessional. I waited a week to get an appointment and I did show up on time for my 3:15 appointment. They didn't bother to ask about any insurance information prior to my visit so that it could be checked for coverage. They told me that my insurance wouldn't cover the c collar and that it would be $35, which sounded reasonable to me and I told them that was fine because I wanted to make sure that it would fit. They then the desk clerk told me that they didn't have my size (I have a long neck) so I asked if they would order it. She snuffed at me and told me to go to Walgreens. Waisted my time, money and possibly my recovery from cervical fusion because of course the one I purchased at Walgreens, under her recommendation, didn't fit properly. I eventually found a reputable company to secure a proper fitting collar 3 days post op. They acted like I and my health didn't matter. This company should be ashamed of hiring people that have no experience or compassion. read more

I came here to get some AFOs made for my daughter.They molded both her legs. I called back 3 weeks later only to find that they never sent the molds to be made and blamed it on my insurance for the delay. When I called my insurance I found out that the clinic finally submitted the request the same day I had called to check on the process. I gave them one star because the regional manager was very courteous in giving me a call and apologizing for the delay. He promised to expedite the manufacturing of her AFOs. Even so it took a total of 6 weeks to get them. Now the product: My physical therapist and I were very displeased with how they were made. The AFOs were so big on her that she constantly slipped out of them. Duct tape couldn't even help. It's hard to believe they were custom made! The angle of the orthotics should be at least 90 degrees but one was almost 90 degrees while the second was about 95 degrees. When I went back to the clinic the orthotist Heidi claimed that my child needed to grow into them (length wise as well as width). She added one extra padding to the heel and called it a day. I couldn't be more disappointed. I was told I needed a new prescription if I wanted them to be remade. read more

Eileen has helped to reduce the level of my baby's flat head from severe to normal and hopefully it eventually will become perfect as my baby continues wearing it. The change started two weeks after wearing the helmet. Now the flat area has become almost not noticeable. I'm grateful that this technology exists and it really worked well on my baby. Follow the instruction strictly and you'll find that all the efforts are worth it. Eileen is professional, patient and flexible. We had a very happy experience with her. read more

Do not go here for prosthetics. They can handle braces or helmets but forget it if it's serious prosthetic needs. Stay away.

The Palo Alto Veteran's Hospital sent me to Hanger for Orthopedic shoes since my hammer toes were pressing down in my shoes, creating ulcers. Gil first took great care in wrapping my feet in plaster of Paris, as if he were putting on a cast. After letting it dry, he skillfully cut it off, coming up the center, and making an opening for me to step out of. Gil then took the cast impressions and sent them off to the factory. After they were finished, I went back for my fitting, where I also got instructions on care and break-in. I love these incredible shoes that fit my feet exactly and allow me to walk with greater comfort and with no pressure on my hammer toes. Thank You Gil and Hanger. read more

Very poor customer service. I had an appointment and ten minutes late they refused to see me so I made another appointment and still waited over an hour to be seen. The entire staff acts like they are doing you a favor serving you. We ordered a helmet for my son and after weeks of waiting the helmet is wrong color and it is not what we ordered. The receptionast said they had to process it anyway because it was special order. I asked to talk to the supervisor and she said the same thing and when I said I have a recording of our order and what we wanted then she said let me call Kaiser and I will call you back and I never heard back from her. I am sure they will go ahead and charge it to our insurance anyway. But I will not accept the charges and dont want this helmet. read more

The first time at Hanger was a few weeks ago when I needed a sling for my arm after shoulder surgery. I found them very professional and friendly. The office was clean and easy to locate near O'Connor hospital. Today I had to get a brace for a different problem. Again, the staff was friendly and accomodating. I needed some adjustment on my arm sling and one of the staff stopped by my house on the way home from work to help me. Now that is good service! As a healthcare provider myself I can say I am picky about my care. I recommend an appt but I was welcomed without one. i read more

Julia is no longer working there. Had a scheduling issue last visit. They gave my son an appointment and when I showed up it was not in the books. The district manager tried to help us reschedule so he would not have to miss school a second day for the visit. It worked out. But, the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Customer service is not the best. The staff will only call once to follow up with the order, they no longer take SCFHP insurance as of 01/01/2017 and even though it took them since November of 2016 to get the product they still denied the product because of the insurance contract change. There's only notification of your denial upon your arrival to your appointment to receive the equipment. Orders are constantly lost. read more

Patricia is knowledgeable, patient, and helpful to her customers. I took my sister who lives aboard to see her for custom orthotics. Patricia accelerated the process for my sister to get her orthotics in time before she flew back home. I have been trying to get shoes for mother since June 6, 2016 and I still have not received confirmation from them. They repeatedly ask for more documentation but is not specific. The clinic did reach out after I posted this review, which was more attention than I received from the staff during the afternoon I spent in their waiting room. I had already gone to another clinic (not another Hangar clinic) and got what I needed and was treated well. I let my insurance company and doctor's office know about my visit here and recommended they don't refer clients here. I am in the waiting room as I write this. Arrived 15 minutes early as instructed for a first time patient. I have now been waiting 1 hour and 25 minutes. Yes, one hour and ten minutes past my scheduled appointment time. While I understand that things happen, a one hour plus wait is unacceptable. I have asked about the wait at 15 minute increments and told nothing more than "we are sorry" and "she is with a patient". This practice needs some serious management oversight. read more

Follow up brace needed for broken ankle. First,the 5 or so employees at the front desk bookkeeping were obsessed with the payment methods. After a wait,I was taken to a room for a fitting and the employee was rough on my injury--pushing and pulling my ankle. When I asked for a short camo boot (one of the options on my prescription) --the employee fitting me said, Medicare won't pay for it. My ankle was hurting and I could only think of one thing and that was to get out of the Hanger facility. I had Blue Shield supplemental Insurance and I could have paid with my credit card. But the atmosphere was so chaotic, I could only think to get out of there. For me, it was about as bad as it gets for customer service and patient treatment. read more

My husband needed a custom ankle brace after his Achilles' tendon repair. The ortho submitted the request and the office called to schedule his appointment. He had an appointment with Julia and she was terrific. We got a call about what his insurance would cover in order to continue the process. Today, we went for his fitting and Julia was terrific with making adjustments and shaving parts down, there on site. She definitely is skilled in what she does and she was very helpful in giving instructions on care and show fitting for the brace. We were more than satisfies. read more

I have been going to Hanger for 2 years...only because that is where my insurance company sends me. I wish I could given them negative stars. They are the WORST company that I ever dealt with. Zero customer service, they just don't give a crap. They always tell me 3 weeks for my inserts, it's usually 3 months. They lost my paperwork and can't be bothered to contact my Dr, ordered the wrong shoes more than once, never call me when something is ready...I always have to call them...and then no one has a clue what happened. It's never their fault, they blame it on my insurance co, or my Dr. If you have a choice...DON'T GO TO HANGER!!!! read more
