I had a wonderful experience today at the Silicon Valley Surgery Center. I was scheduled for a transforaminal epidural steroid injection in the lumbar region of my spine. This injection is meant to help decrease inflammation that was causing pressure on my sciatic nerve. We were warmly greeted when we arrived. I checked in at the front desk. Luckily, the day before, they emailed me a link to fill out all my paperwork. That proved to be very helpful and made the check-in process very easy and fast. The facility is very modern and large. There were quite a few people in the waiting area waiting to be called back for their procedures. The waiting area is very nice with plenty of seating. There was a big flat-screen TV for all to watch while waiting. They have a self-serve coffee area. You can choose your flavor and variety of Keurig pods and easily make yourself a nice hot coffee. My husband took advantage of that. I was called back within 15 minutes of checking in. The nurse taking care of me did a great job explaining the procedure and the order of events that were going to take place. She did an amazing job inserting my IV and kept me warm with heated blankets and a heating machine that blows warm air under the blankets. Since it was freezing in there, the warming machine felt so nice. I got to meet everyone in the surgical suite and was able to ask my Dr. questions before anesthesia was given to me. The surgeon, nurses, and technicians were all so nice and made me feel comfortable. Before I knew it, I was in recovery. The procedure was successful. They offered me juice of my choice while I was in the post-op area. The nurse removed my IV and helped me get dressed, while my husband moved the car to the patient pick-up area. This was one of the best outpatient experiences I have ever had. Everyone was so professional and friendly. They were very thorough with going over all my allergies. I'm allergic to a lot of medications, so that part is extremely important to get right. They took excellent care of me. If I need to have an out patient procedure, in the future, I would definitely choose to have it done here. I highly recommend coming here for an outpatient procedure. read more

My experience with the actual medical team at Silicon Valley Surgery Center was excellent. The nurse who took care of me was absolutely amazing--kind, attentive, and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process. My anesthesiologist was also fantastic, and of course I had a great experience with my doctor. I felt very well cared for by the clinical team. Where I think there is room for improvement is the front-office experience. The front desk came across as somewhat unprofessional and there wasn't much acknowledgment or greeting when patients arrived. Communication with the finance department was also frustrating, as I had difficulty getting calls returned. Overall, the medical care itself was wonderful and that's ultimately the most important part to me. I just wish the administrative experience matched the level of professionalism and warmth I received from the nurses, anesthesiologist, and my doctor. read more

It must be fairly new and they are certainly maintaining it. Interestingly, they are still using lots of paper files versus going electronic. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But all the nursing teams were kind and compassionate of my nervousness.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My doctor came to visit with me and confirm all the information that had been confirmed many times before - super safe!! The anesthesiologist administered the propofol, and then I woke up, and it was all over, yay! My husband had surgery here late last year, here are the issues I witnessed and how upset they made me. They placed an iv and the end of the tubing fell on the ground, they didn't even pick it up, I ended up doing this! I told the nurse(male) it had been sitting on the ground, he poo-pooed me and wasn't even going to rub the tip off with rubbing alcohol until I insisted. This alone gave me a very bad feeling. Additionally he was expected to be there at 6:30 am, but they didn't start the procedure till after 4pm! [[HIGHLIGHT]]For an anxious patient they just added to the anxiety he already had.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also didn't see anyone use hand sanitizer or change their gloves when they needed to. SMH, Also Tried to manipulate me into getting a ride through their personal transport so they could charge my insurance, and threatened me that my insurance won't pay for my medically necessary procedures if i didn't do what they wanted me to do. It was the worst experience I've had. I will never use their facilities again for any procedures. They cost me more time and money, and gave me more stress. Love the new facility! Everything was modern and clean. My nurse Ryan helped me get settled and did a great job with the IV. The surgical procedure was pretty straightforward with no complications. The medical team was very professional throughout and helped me to relax. Once it came to discharge, I believe when I woke up I was given apple juice. The staff transferred me to a wheelchair and made sure I was safely into my ride home. Note you cannot use taxi or ride share - you must have a trusted adult take you home. My GI doctor scheduled an Endoscopy and a Colonoscopy for me at this facility (2605 S Winchester Blvd, Campbell, CA 95008) and it was smoother than my root canal haha The staff were all very courteous and professional and made the procedure feel like a breeze! Special shoutout to three people! - Lina, the nurse who checked me in - I swear, it was like someone from my own family who was there to assure me and care. She is one of the SWEETEST people I've ever met in my life. When I came home after my procedure and saw the reports, there was a handwritten note by Lina who wished me a speedy recovery. More updates! I will preface this by saying that I am usually a polite and reasonable woman. After speaking with the billing agency for probably the twentieth time and resorting to yelling and threatening a few people, they said my bill was escalated to some VP level somesuch and they would fix it and call me back in a few days. Since then, not only have I not received a callback, they have started sending me more bills under someplace called "Comprehensive Digestive Surgery Center." They also duplicate billed the entire surgery balance to my insurance which was of course rejected. It must take talent to be this incompetent. read more

Yesterday was my 3rd colonoscopy and my first on this location and boy was I impressed! All the staff were very professional and the building is clean and well maintained. What I like the most was the hustling and bustling in the prep room, it was full of life and good vibes! It definitely made me feel at ease and happy. Even though It was a very busy Friday, the staff was never in a hurry to give me the necessary care that I needed. All of them were very attentive to my needs and care. Special thanks to my nurse Rebecca with her single poke and got my IV going. Thank you to Dr Wang, my anesthesiologist who told me to think of a vacation place before sedation. I had the best dream ever in Cabo during the procedure and woke up so refreshed! And most importantly, a huge thank you to Dr Hobson for a short ((16 min) and successful procedure! A most impressive experience: Everyone so very professional, calm, and friendly even though there is a constant flow of patients. At every step a person will tell you what will happen, listen to you, and answer all questions you might have. If paper work is involved then the person will go through each page carefully explaining what is expected before giving you time to fill it out. I was delighted with the calm, friendly (and at time even a bit jocular) attitude of every one from the receptionist to nurses, to personnel in the endoscopy room, to Drs. One can see that there is a really good professional and congenial ambiance in this center. Thank you to those delightful professionals: the welcoming receptionist, the nurses: Angela who set me up, Judy the endo nurse who came to discuss the procedure, the other Judy in the endo room, David the endo tech, to the nurse who told me to look her up in the eyes while the anesthetic took effect, and Marlene who set me up me before leaving; and to Dr. Chung the anesthetist and Dr. G.Spencer the gastroenterologist. The information packet you receive upon leaving has all the results about your procedure which Dr. Spencer reviewed with me after I woke up - the anesthesia is quick to act and quick to wear off without any trace. I accompanied my wife to check in for the surgery 3 days ago. The lady from front desk told me only my wife can stay in the waiting room and I have to wait outside. I explained to the lady that it is ok for me to leave, but you have to find an interpreter to help my wife to fill out all the papers because she does not know English. Then the lady said it is ok for you to stay with your wife to fill out the papers. As I am filling out the papers, a supervisor lady in black reached to me and told me with rude attitude again:" This waiting room is for the patient only, you have to go outside". I had to told her the same story why I must be with my wife. We experienced other surgery facilities before, no one asked the family member with the patient getting out the waiting room. Plus, as the lady asked me to leave the waiting room, there were only 2 or 3 person inside the 30 - 40 capacity waiting room. I do not understand why they are doing things like this? We will never use this facility in the future. Never! But I really hope this surgery center will take good care of the patient as well as the patient's family member in the future. * The surgical staffs were professional and nice. read more

I have had such a nightmare with the billing that I've just filed a complaint with the BBB. This place took $5,200 from me on the day of my surgery. This was supposedly to cover any copay I'd owe them. After my insurance company paid them and left me with a total patient responsibility of $1K I started calling them to get a refund. For a month they didn't return calls from me, my insurance rep, or my surgeon. When they finally called, they said "call us back in a week and we'll have answers. " I called a week later and they had no answers. Then they stopped returning my calls again. I left several messages for a couple weeks and at last someone called and said that they'd mail me my refund on July 21. It is August 2 and no check ever arrived. My surgeon, anesthesiologist, and physical therapist have asked for their copays and I've had to dish that money out as well. This has been VERY stressful and not even worth it. Insist that your surgeon perform your procedure at another location. This was so much effort just to retrieve my own money. I still don't have it!!!! Something very shady is going on with the financial side of this business. read more

My Mother was scheduled for wrist surgery & they did a "Rapid COVID Test. They said that she tested positive for COVID. I asked them to re test her cuz it could be a false positive & they said their test aren't wrong. I went home and did a home test came out "Negative " then we did a PCR test and 3 days later it's Negative.... My mom needs this surgery due to her wrist is broken and they said also the hospitals won't do surgeries due to covid emergencies only.. we also have to wait 4 weeks. This place is a JOKE.. thanks for nothing & allowing my mom to stay this way. Thank God the Dr office found a place for her to get her surgery. I agree with all the other positive reviews of Silicon Valley Surgery Center. I have had at least 4 other experiences with a different surgery center and there is no comparison. They are very tuned into your medical information, the Anesthesiologist called me the night before to ask if I had an questions or concerns (which I so appreciated). Because I have sleep apnea he put me on oxygen during the procedure and he kept my Dexcom receiver at his side so he was aware of what was going on with my Blood Sugar and could respond if I started crashing. The Dr. talked to me before and after with an update, all the staff were very competent and helpful, I cannot say enough about my experience. Take the time to fill out the lengthy medical questionnaire it is worth it and they appreciate it. I cannot say enough good things about them from beginning to end! read more

Beware! They contacted me ahead of the proceedure to "confirm" the med insurance approved my procedure. Should have known something was wrong when they tried to get me to sign an estiamte of payment but didn't have any details other than a random price of $1,500. My in-network cost was supposed to be about $250-$300. Make sure you get the insurance approval in writting and don't sign anything without seeing the complete breakdown of the costs. Los Gatos Surgery Center decided to submit an alternate code rather than the orignal approved code. My guess is to get more $$$$$ out of me and avoid billing the agreed in-network contracted price. Really underhanded and dishonest. Once you have the procedure done, there's no way for you to hold them to the way they want to charge you. Even if you were notified it was an approved in-network procedure. Contacted my doctor and they can't do anything because they are not involved with the facility billing. read more

Very interesting place. I brought my brother in here the other day to have a outpatient procedure done. We arrived at 8:30 to a completely packed lobby. Not too sure how many pre and post op beds they have but, there was quite a few people waiting to go in and also waiting to pick up their loved ones. The staff was very friendly and helpful each time I had a question about what was going on and the time frame. The other nice thing is that they have a coffee and tea station for those waiting. They even had a lot of selections and creamers to chose from which is always nice. The recovery nurse who came back to get me for my brother was super nice. I don't remember her name but she was super sweet and knowledgeable. She was able to answer all of my questions and kept me up to date with what happened and what to expect. I was there yesterday for a sinus surgery. Lately, I've had lackluster experiences with medical providers for myself and my family. I have to say, I was really impressed with my experience yesterday. Not often do I feel compelled to write a review like this for this industry but I want to make sure I acknowledge the entire staff at this center. Specifically, Sabrina who assisted me from the waiting room up until my surgery. She was attentive and modeled the "bedside manner" some of us hope for in those situations. She was wonderful. After surgery, both Rebecca and Suzanne took great care of me. I seriously couldn't ask for better help. Thank you for making a stressful situation less stressful. Came here for strictly surgery. All my appointments were at my doctors office. Expectation: go 2 hours early to the surgery. Go into a private room. Relax and prepare mentally pre surgery. Reality: I stayed in the waiting room for damn near 2 hours pacing like a maniac talking myself down from a panic attack (first surgery). Then they called me back. Put me in a prep room but obviously it's being used as a storage room. Couldn't even barely get on the bed and it was hitting the counter as I tried. Very very small space in the entire room to change into my surgery clothes. From there it was an extreme rush. Maybe 15 minutes between calling my back and putting me in the surgery room. I couldn't relax and unwind at all. Which only made my panicking worse. Thank god the anesthesiologist ran into the room right behind me. It's possible I was given too much anesthesia because the next thing I remember is nurses yelling at me that I need to wake up and apparently this was many hours later and I had to wake up because they were closing the office. Not a great experience for me. read more

My mom had surgery here a couple of weeks ago and I was less than impressed with most of the staff. The girls at the front desk were sweet, as were the surgical technicians and anesthesiologist. My mom has severe anxiety and was absolutely terrified of going under. All of the staff she encountered prior to surgery made her feel at ease and calmed her down a lot. Everyone else is a different story. Once out of surgery, the surgeon was nowhere to be seen, as she was his last patient before going on vacation. Because her surgery was in the afternoon, she was the last patient in recovery by the time she was awake. The nurses we encountered then were either incredibly phony or had an attitude towards my mother. It was obvious they just wanted to go home even though the facility was not yet closed. They gave her multiple doses of pain killers (morphine?) in a short period of time, and given the fact that my mother doesn't even touch alcohol, she became pretty goofy really quickly. Within less than twenty minutes of the drugs taking effect, one of the nurses was trying to rush her to get dressed. They barely showed her how to use her crutches and told her she was doing it right when she clearly was not. Honestly, I know what it's like to want to go home on time after a long day of work, but I would expect a lot more compassion and patience from nurses who work in the SICU. That was far from the case here. Nobody even bothered to go over her discharge paperwork with her. I was with my boyfriend when he had the same procedure done at a different hospital earlier in the year and his post-op treatment was so much more thorough. I was really disappointed with the way they handled my mother. read more

Less than a week ago I had my sinus surgery at this facility. From the time I was greeted in the lobby to the time I left, my experience was outstanding. The girls up front were very nice and went over the paperwork throughly and the two nurses that were helping me (I forgot their names) were amazing. Mrs. Phifer (spelling?) was over seeing some of the pre-screening questions and later my mom and her realized our families went to the same elementary school together. Small world. She was very kind and went over all the details with me. She even let me know the pain I was going to be in and how to minimize that. I am very grateful for her. The nurse who brought me into the operating room could see on my face I was nervous about going under. She made me very comfortable when I got on the table. The anesthesiologist (Dr. Chow) was friendly and let me know when he was putting me to sleep. Last time at a different place, that didn't happen. My doctor, (Michael Murray) is great to work with and I would recommend him to anyone. Lastly, the nurse at the end, Rebecca, was absolutely amazing. I had a rough time when I first woke up and she was on it. I didn't have to say what I needed, because she had already done it. I was in a lot of pain and she helped me with the pain meds. My last surgery I had at a different facility was so quick to wake me up and get me out of the building and it was horrifying. She didn't rush me. She gave me ice chips, helped me change and helped clean up my face with no problem. Even though I was in pain, she made me feel great. Every person I ran into, a nurse, doctor, receptionist, etc. was friendly, gentle and kind hearted. This facility has an amazing staff and I would recommend them to anyone. We went for a surgery for my husband. They were good with the actual surgery and the precare. However, at postop the doctor and nurses were trying to hurry us like crazy and didn't even give us time to change his clothes. I had to repeatedly tell the nurse to wait a bit because he was wearing his pants. I'm not talking of taking five minutes or more but two to three minutes which I think is reasonable for a patient that was still groggy from anaesthesia effects. One other thing, when we checked in at the morning, we were asked to pay $4000 out of the blue even though we told them we had insurance that would cover this. Since we had spoken to our insurance, we asked them to send a bill. They first argued we had to pay it before hand and then agreed to do the procedure and send bill to insurance. So if you get asked to prepay, please make sure this is according to your insurance plans. We went because of the five star reviews on here and because our doctor recommended it. I came here this week for my colonoscopy. The staff was super nice and on time with my procedure. I was the one that was actually a few minutes late due to traffic. Dr. Youn was my doctor for my colonoscopy and Dr. Chow was my anaesthesiologist. Both were very nice and great at their job. I did not remember a thing! The nurse were all super nice to me, and were happy people. The worse thing that you want is someone who is miserable taking care of you on the day of your surgery. They were so nice and they gave me crackers and cranberry juice after my procedure. They called me the day before and Dr. Chow left me a message introducing himself. The staff at the surgery center called a few days in advance to make sure that I remember my procedure. They also called me the next day to see how I was recovering. I had a procedure down here, which was a colonoscopy. I'm young but I'm genetically obligated. If you have any questions and if they have questions they call you in advance. Because I received a call early discussing about insurance but I won't bore with that talk. The RNs are friendly and welcoming. Henry the anesthesiologist was very sweet and funny. He reassured because I was nervous. It's my first time have a procedure done. There are no rooms but one big room with looks of curtains separating one patient from the next. As I was waiting in PACU #1, I'm just watching people walking around until my nurse gave me magazines. Lock the doors when they make you change clothes because people don't knock when they need to go to the bathroom. Be sure to ask whatever doctors or nurses give you, just to be sure and safe. I didn't because I don't like to look at my IV site so you know the saying, 'out of sight, out of mind.' Funny because I like to give shots but I don't like to get them. I was knocked out during the entire procedure. I woke up already back at the PACU with the curtains closed. Thank God for privacy because I'm not going to be happy to be waking with hella people. I was already grumpy from waking up. I was given another blanket but as soon as I was about to fall asleep again, I heard my mom. I was happy because I knew that means we will get to eat! Now that I think of it, I don't really remember tasting my food. I just ate because Tuesday I had food poisoning so throwing up and massive diarrhea. And then Wednesday, I was cleaning out my colon, which I still had lots of shit. haha! The sedation is different for everyone. My mom and I were asleep but my dad was awake watching as they were going through his colon. Oh and drinking MoviPrep and Citrate of Magnesium is no cup of tea. I believe them now saying that it's truly disgusting. The MoviPrep tasted like sweetened vinegar or something. And I learned, you can be rejected if you still have a lot of stool in your system so be sure you're cleaned out. Oh and a tip if you guys have to get this done, don't wipe your ass just wash it and pat dry. Trust because after wiping like five billion times, your ass is going to hurt. I had surgery here about a month ago and I had a good experience. Like others, I find that the nurses here are very accommodating and compassionate. One in particular, Rebecca was a sweet, kind, and warm person that really calmed me down as I was nervous about having surgery. She made the whole thing easier and was there to hold my hand when the anesthesiologist gave me an epidural. My hubby was told to wait in the lobby area. I was so freaked out and thankfully Rebecca was there. I really appreciated her calming presence. I knocked off a star for the post op, I guess it took me a bit to wake up and when I came to I felt they were rushing me out. I saw it was after 4pm on a Friday but no reason to get me outta there so quick. Wish Rebecca was still helping me instead of this other nurse who was nice but not as genuine in my well being. read more

I would give it five stars for the services I received but am so frustrated about the inability to get a receipt for my copay that Flex spending would accept that I have to mark them down. I can't believe that they can't generate a receipt with services provided and what you paid. Last time my credit card got cancelled as it took forever to get an acceptable receipt out of the business office. That said I am totally satisfied with them except for this issue. read more

I had surgery at Silicon Valley Surgical Center last week. From the moment I walked in until I left I was treated respectfully, and with kindness and care. Overall the medical care I received was great and their whole operation seems to focus on making sure that their patients are treated very well. Much better care than I have ever received in a hospital setting. read more
