Overall, a life-changing experience, and a very empathetic, caring, and highly experienced surgeon.

I just want folks who may be scared and reluctant to search out a spine surgeon, as I was, to hear my story and why I recommend Dr Sandeep Gidvani so highly. A fall a few months when on vacation in England left me with such chronic back pain and severe almost 24/7 sciatic pain in hips and legs that nothing would ease the chronic pain it left me with. My self care included dosing myself through the day with the maximum amounts of Ibuprofen recommended lying alternatively on a heating pad then ice and use of a portable tens machine! Nothing really helped rid me of the pain which rarely left me. My GPprescribed Gaberpentin but that did nothing to ease the pain. Reluctantly I searched for a spine specialist after seeking 2 months of PT and also chiropractic care and being told by both the PT and chiropractor that there was nothing else they could do for me and that I should seek out help from a spine surgeon! Dr Gidvani was recommended by a friends daughter, a surgical nurse who had worked with him in prior years in surgery and told me she would have no hesitation in sending her children to him if they needed spinal surgery. That was enough for me and on first meeting I found Dr Gidvani to be very sharp, kind, patient and empathic and I felt immediately at ease. He carefully explained and interpreted data to me from my x rays and MRI explaining the immediate need for spinal fusion surgery to correct the damage caused by degenerative decline and further damage probably from the fall and diagnosed me with spondylitisthesis and told me that I needed surgery right away to avoid further degeneration and increase in pain level. His scheduling assistant April immediately sprang into action! She was so helpful. One week and one day later after the initial consult I was in the operating room of Dr Gidvani at El Camino Hospital, Los Gatos having my much needed corrective spinal fusion surgery. Dr Gidvani was a calm and reassuring presence when I met with him both before and after the surgery. In just a few hours after the 5 hours minimally invasive surgery, I was walking in my hospital room a few hours later and the sciatic nerve pain had just magically vanished and It felt like a true miracle! Two weeks post surgery I'm recovering now at home, practically pain free. I am now totally taking care of myself as my helpers are no longer needed. I walked almost half a mile yesterday just with the aid of a cane. I can hardly believe myself how quickly I am recovering from the spinal fusion to my lower back. I just have to remind myself to not bend, lift or twist to allow in inner hardware to set. Dr Gidvani is a miraculous surgeon and minimally invasive spinal fusion surgery is just what it advertises itself to be. I'm so very fortunate to have found such a sharp compassionate and skilled surgeon well versed in state of the art robotic surgery for spinal fusion. I highly recommend him to anyone searching for a truly gifted spinal surgeon. Thank you Dr Gidvani from the bottom of my heart for giving me back my life, now pain free!

But after two months, the opening wouldn't heal, the antibiotics she prescribed me did not reduce the lump at all, and there was no bacteria found in the lab testing, I started to question whether I actually had mastitis. But Dr. Mardi Karini would not listen to me at all. She was very certain her initial diagnosis was right despite the evidences. Three months after I had the lump, I finally did a core biopsy to confirm that the lump was granulamatous mastitis, a rare disease that's oftentimes associated with autoimmune causes. After the biopsy confirmed that her initial diagnosis was wrong, I was transferred to a different doctor, and I never saw or heard from Dr. Mardi Karin again. During the three months that I saw Dr. Mardi Karin, I had eight office visits with her in total. Every time, she rushed in and out within 10-15 minutes. She always appeared to be confident and knew what she was doing. But when I shared how my body felt with her, I didn't think she was listening. I had a feeling that she did not like to be challenged when the evidence did not fit with her judgement, or facing a new disease that she was not familiar with. It was a traumatizing experience for me. The disease itself was very painful, but on top of that, being misdiagnosed, having an open wound that wouldn't heal for months, being medicated for a wrong diagnosis that destroyed my gut health, and being treated as if my feelings didn't matter all made the experience even worse. Reading some of the other reviews, it seems that Dr. Mardi Karin was good at other aspects. But based on my own experience, she seemed to be different when facing uncertain situations.

One thing that made me particularly uncomfortable is when Dr. Karin grabbed at my stomach "to see if there's a little something extra" (for a type of procedure I told her I am not at all interested in). She also delayed my next care steps unnecessarily. But I think the strangest thing to me is that she discouraged me from looking into another type of procedure, because *she doesn't understand how it works*. Clearly it works somehow because other surgeons do it, but since she doesn't understand it, she recommends against it... that is the action of a self-interested salesperson, not someone who cares about the best interest of the patient. Btw she may say sensation cannot be preserved in a mastectomy, but Dr. Dung Nguyen at Stanford does nerve grafts.

After 12+ months of research and numerous internal conversations about whether or not to get…read moresurgery to correct my upper right eyelid I decided it was time to do so and I chose Dr. Rosenthal to perform the blepharoplasty. Why Dr. Rosenthal? For me it was a decision based three primary criteria. Connection, credentials, and reviews. I then met with or had conversations with the surgeons I believed might be a good fit for me. After these initial meetings I got the underwhelming sense that I was either not welcome or insignificant somehow. Although subtle, it felt potent. Connection: However, in Dr. Rosenthal's office, I felt validated as a person and after meeting her I felt assured that she would perform the procedure with precision like accuracy. After just ten minutes of talking with her I had no doubt in my mind that I would be in good hands. Credentials: Dr. Rosenthal completed her residency and chief residency in plastic surgery at Stanford University. She received her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. She holds a bachelor-of-arts degree with high honors from Brown University. In addition, she has completed fellowships in both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Rosenthal is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and has received many awards and accolades. Impressive! Reviews: Well, you can see them on Yelp for yourselves. There are a couple concerning reviews about communication with the front office. Despite these reviews my experience with the staff has only been warm and welcoming. The staff is extremely prompt and professional, in addition to kind and courtesy. I would not let these reviews be a deterrent from meeting with Dr. Rosenthal in person and having a discussion about what you want to achieve and how she can help support you. With the three criteria were met I decided to schedule the operation with Dr. Rosenthal. In terms of the logistics of the operation both leading up to and after the surgery, the staff and Dr. Rosenthal were very supportive and thorough about how I should prepare myself to be in the best possible condition for the operation and to heal after. All in all the surgery itself took about an hour and was painless (I was awake for the operation). Swelling was normal and stitches came out in a few days. Results? In all sincerity Dr. Rosenthal exceeded my expectations! Quick contextualizing story: I was in a car accident over a decade ago and my right upper eyelid was torn apart by glass from the shattered front windshield. It was sown back together quickly and didn't heal properly. It has been droopy ever since. It resembled a lazy eye, but with visible scar tissue. I would have been happy just to get the scar tissue and the bothersome extra skin removed from my upper right eyelid even if it didn't match my left eyelid. Dr. Rosenthal didn't just remove the scar tissue and extra skin causing the lazy eye, but she also made the eyelid symmetric to the other eyelid and it appears as it would naturally. The scar is hardly visible and virtually invisible when my eyes are open. The scar will eventually fade with time. I am beyond thankful Dr. Rosenthal did my surgery. I feel as if a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. All the internal stress I caused myself being self-conscious about my eyelid has completely evaporated. I can look people in the eyes and listen to them fully without the internal chatter of insecurities running through my head about my eyelid, which may not seem like a big deal, but really is for me. I never thought having the surgery would make me a happier person with a new perspective on the importance of self-care. So... I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Rosenthal!
