Dr. David Nudell is an exemplary doctor that should be emulated by all others. Please let me explain: Went in for a complex TURP operation which went smoothly. Dr. Nudell's manners and professionalism were impeccable. Had a complication with my catheter bag 5 hours after I was released from the hospital on a Friday. Catheter bag did not open to allow urine to drain into it. Increasing pain forced me to send Dr. Nudell a message on El Camino Health's messaging platform at 4:45 PM on Friday afternoon. Got a personal call back from Dr. Nudell 15 minutes later. When I explained the potential complication, Dr. Nudell asked me to meet him at his office (now well after normal hours) to ensure that the bag was working properly. I told him it would take me another 35-40 minu4tes to get there with traffic. He told me not to worry and that he would wait for me. When I arrived, Dr. Nudell was all alone with no staff. He personally escorted me into the back door and promptly resolved the problem with the bag (faulty bag). I am thankful that there are doctors still doctors practicing like Dr. David Nudell. He resolved my problem successfully and was genuinely concerned for my health. My husband has been going to Dr. Nudell for 6 years for his kidney/urinary issues. Doctor Nudell is great, very friendly, very knowledgeable and thorough with the plan of care. Dr. Nudell has been supportive and compassionate during this difficult time in my life dealing with some health issues that have come up. His bedside manner is great -- he sits facing you and talks in a calm, casual tone, making you feel more at ease. He is mostly responsive through email as well. I read online that many people going through what I am going through were misdiagnosed or dismissed for years but Dr. Nudell was the one who suggested the diagnosis to me and it made a lot of sense. He saved me a lot of agony from unnecessary medications and doctor visits, including the terror of not knowing what is going on with my body. The staff are direct and professional -- they are not necessarily "friendly" but I don't expect them to be. He also has a great sense of humor and puts patients at ease without diminishing the reason for their visit. After seeing him for several years for various issues, I also had my first surgery with him. After five month, I finally was able to get an urology appointment with David Nudell. Prior to arrival, I checked-in online which took me about 45 minutes to complete! I wanted a visit for consultation yet, the questionnaire contained questions such as whether or not I have ovarian cancer and other female related diseases. This is a urologist! Furthermore, I was ask if I have an enlarged prostate, or if I have prostate cancer! Well, that is what I wanted to find out. My by then short fuse was lit up upon arrival at Dr. Nudell's office; I was presented with the lady at the front desk who really must hate her job, judging by her attitude. She was asking questions I already answered in the online check-in and question such a "do you work, and if so, part time or full time. I told her that has no relevance as long as I am insured. I got so irritated with her attitude that I just gave her a display of my attitude and told her to cancel my appointment. That was a bad experience. In addition, the US having one of the worst health care systems in the world, more time is spent on finding out how I will pay the bill before they even know why I need to see the doctor in the first place. Having some prostate issues I revisited DR. Nudell who operated on me some years back as per my prior review. He not only helped me and I completely trust him but he further helped me when I was down on finance ability. He is a true doctor in the caring sense and even tries to be humorous! :). I underwent my vasectomy with Dr. Nudell. He and his staff are very polite and accommodating. Unfortunately I have to say that my procedure was not so pleasant. I believe that my operation was rushed (perhaps because it was Friday afternoon? IDK.) During the procedure I had commented on the work being painful during what felt like my Vas Deferens being pulled unreasonably hard. I made the comment a few times throughout the procedure. After I was all stitched up and on my way out of the building, I was walking as though I had been in a horse saddle for a week. In the days to follow, one of my testicles swelled up to the size of a healthy kiwi, and stayed so for over two months. I returned a few times to get consultation, and I was told that 'Sometimes that happens.' I'm not so sure about that, because none of my friends who have had this procedure experienced this, and it's not common if you research it. I'm left wondering about his practice. This review is not for the Doctor but for the receptionist and front office staff. My husband called this office attempting to make his first appointment and was rudely spoken to by a girl named Selena A. The receptionist quickly ramble off dates and times he could schedule, and when she was asked to repeat herself, she sarcastically laughed and said, "I already told you what the dates were ." She repeatedly scoffed at all his inquiries and made my husband feel incredibly uncomfortable to ask any further questions. This was just the start to her unprofessional phone etiquette. She was dismissive, condescending and lack compassion for patients seeking help. The supervisor then took over the conversation and was very defensive and was also unhelpful. Unfortunately, we will find help elsewhere where the staff is more likely to receive new patients in a compassionate and professional manner. Professionals in the medical field should practice patience and kindness to those who are seeking help. We really wanted to love Dr. Nudell and his staff. Unfortunately, our experience has been less than mediocre. The first appointment we had, the billing specialist told us that the tests ordered weren't covered by our insurance and we would have to pay $1800 out of pocket. After we requested she contact our insurance she said "whoops, I made a mistake" Then came our second appointment to go over our blood test results regarding low sperm count, We were anxious to hear what our results were, (as you can imagine) After waiting 30 minutes, the Dr. came in and said the results came back negative and the next steps would be scheduling a surgery. Although we waited 30 minutes, we are excited that we were potentially getting some answers and start preparing for the chance to make our baby. Dr. Nudell said Yolanda would be reaching out to us to schedule the surgery. That was August 8, 15 days ago, still haven't heard from them. I've been a patient of Doctor Nudell's for almost 4 years now, and can easily suggest him hands down to anyone serious about their health in this field. Doctor Nudell has a practical and realistic approach to medicine, a professional yet friendly bedside manner, and is available to his regular patients with responses to address their needs rapidly. He goes the extra mile, and actually cares. You can tell he genuinely cares about this field, and takes pride in servicing his patients. He is matter of fact when it's "go time," but takes time to listen and discuss options for treatment before moving ahead, or pushing a procedure like other doctors may. He is a modern doctor in his field. I can't begin to express how valuable that is. Doctor Nudell has performed surgery on me, and also performed my vasectomy. He has helped me test and regulate hormone levels as well.....the fact is that I wouldn't state all of this openly if I didn't feel so strongly that you should see Doctor Nudell. Ps, medical offices often have multiple doctors in the same field sharing the same office facility, where the front end (receptionists, scheduling) keep gears moving so the doctors can focus on their work. My first time time being sent to a urologist. I wasn't very excited about the whole thing as I was already miserable from having to wear a catheter for a week from the time I went to the ER. The Staff at the clinic were very polite and at didn't at anytime make me feel like I was just another patient. They were very sincere. Dr.Nudell made me feel comfortable and was very professional and straight honest. I love when a doctor doesn't talk down to you but instead talks to you. Dr.Nudell has my upmost respect for his treatment of me. As we progressed over the week after my scope, as simple as me sending him an email with my emergency condition he had me set up for surgery the next week. Dr. Nudell truly cares about his patients. Originally I went to him because my wife & I were doing in vitro fertilization which was not covered by my Kiaser med plan. He was so good I kept going to him even though I had an urologist at Kiaser. I lost my medical insurance and he made special arrangements for me to pay the office and discounted his services and treatments which I require about 4 times a year. I am flabbergasted at the poor review he received. It's crazy because this man has listened to me talk and asks questions for ten years now and has never made me feel he is too busy to listen. Dr. Nudell is good, thorough, conservative, and willing to carefully explain medical issues and possible treatments to patients. One of us (Paul) has a prostate problem and a significant family history of cancers of several sorts, and so went to Dr. Nudell on the recommendation of a friend who is also a physician. Dr. Nudell has been monitoring my condition for several years, and as an anomalous feature arose in my prostate, he carried out the most conservative course of diagnosis, a biopsy, and interpreted the results. Relying on his extensive experience in urological issues, he was able to give me peace of mind by letting me know that I do not yet have a serious problem. A doctor's experience really makes a huge difference. I would recommend Dr. Nudell with any hesitation. Also, there are some negative reviews on responsiveness and courtesy of the office staff. He may be an excellent doctor, idk; but the staff is rude. Also, they're no longer in network for Blue Cross Blue Shield (one of the biggest in California), and when I went they charged me in cash claiming that they charge only the insurance-approved amount; I got hit with half the bill being over what the insurance approves (on top of the out-of-network copay) then some more when the office send me another bill for the revised version they sent to insurance that was even more than what I paid at the time of the visit. Basically, don't go if you're our of network. And don't go if you have a problem with rude staff. read more

This review is for the Urology Associates of Silicon Valley's medical staff and the treatment I received from Dr. David Nudell. I experienced male infertility issues and this office was referred to me by my general physician. The office is in serious need of some help with customer service and attention. They are terrible at returning calls, scheduling appointments and are generally poor in their coordination of services. As a patient, especially one with such a depressing diagnosis, it was unsettling to have an office that was not efficient, i.e. not returning calls, not answering questions. As for the doctor, he is very difficult to reach, as most specialists are, but it seemed they are more interested in getting as many patients as they can than providing great service. Incidentally, they wanted me to get an ultrasound performed there (for $600 which is NOT covered by my insurance because they are specifically out of network). I asked for some other options and I called the reproductive science center (well-known in the bay area) and they did the doppler ultrasound for less than $149 cash, and it was more than partially covered by my insurance. I know being a doctor is also an occupation and everyone likes to make money, but for gods sake, have some common courtesy and etiquette for those you are providing service for (and for whom are paying you!), you are a medical office! read more

This doctor doesn't care about patients at all. Its all about how much he can collect from you that's not covered by insurance. My husband went there for appointment, he had some blood test done at the office and he never got a call back to talk about the test results, but we got several calls back about "stand by fee" of $250 (not covered by insurance) for nothing because we cancel the surgery in the morning of the same day. Yolanda from the staff was really rude over the phone when i asked what was the $250 for and she threatened me to send this to collections. I never told her we wouldn't pay I just wanted to find what was that for. Btw we still don't know the results from the test lab. read more

Don't believe the other reviews. I believe most of them are fake. I have been seeing the doctor for almost 2 years now. He has not done anything to improve my condition. They are just interested in making me visit the doctors office and billing the insurance every time. (Even for blood tests they will ask you to visit the doctors office) The office staff is very rude and they don't return your calls. (they are also closed between 12 - 2pm and when you call at other times it will go straight to the voice mail) If any tests are done, they will not call you back to update you with the results. You will have to make another appointment with the doctor. The front desk (receptionist) discusses about your medication (I am not sure how she is qualified!) I had a medication that required pre-authorization from the doctor (it was not covered by the insurance without doctors pre-authorization). The doctors office did not respond to the request. When I called that they said they will charge an additional $25 to respond to the pre-auth request!. I am sorry to say that I will not be seeing this doctor anymore. I am still at the same condition as before when i started seeing the doctor. read more

Dr. Nudell was referred to me by my physician, who thought I might have kidney stones. I got in within two days, and had a CT scan done shortly after my meeting with the doctor. He was very efficient and compassionate, and I got my results the same day. I ended up testing negative for stones, but should I ever need to see a urologist again I would highly recommend him. His assistant was very nice, and the office is clean and modern. read more

Displeased to say it nicely. I waited a few weeks for a follow-up visit (3rd time in office). I was early to my appointment, yet I waited before I got into a room for 20 minutes past my appointment time. I waited more in the room. When Dr. Nudell finally arrived. He took 2-3 minutes with me to tell me that he had nothing new to tell me. He did tell me to come back and bring my wife. Was there for a little over an hour for 2-3 minutes of face time, in which I was told nothing new. I was charged $239 for this "visit" and their first bill showed insurance paying for it. They were wrong, then changed the next bill. Wife tried to call and get them to fix it, but they didn't seem to understand. Seems like he's fine for some, but I don't like paying someone hundreds of dollars to waste my time. The 1st visit was fine but a long wait and impersonal. read more

After my negative review I got a call from Dr Nudell himself trying to find out what happened and I explained how rude Yolanda, a member of his staff was and she didn't provided relative information about the exams my husband has done. He took time to review what happened and provided us with the lab results. My husband decided to continue the treatment with Dr Nudell trusting his knowledge, judgement and his positive attitude. He's been seen by Dr Nudell for around 1 year now and he's very happy with the results of his treatment. I was referred by my internist for consultation because of a very high PSA test result. Dr. Nudell was wonderful. He discussed the results and put them into proper perspective and calmed me down. While his exam did not suggest anything out of the ordinary he did recommend, because of my high PSA score, that I get a prostate ultrasound and biopsy to make certain that there were no presence of a malignancy. He performed the procedure in his office and which was not nearly as uncomfortable as my friends led me to believe. All went well and I now see him a couple of times for regular check ups.
