We should've known something was off when there was a big sign saying that their credit card machine was broken! The sign was a little too nice and looks like it had been there for too long. The bartender couldn't make a Manhattan. Her attempt at a lemon drop was Ridiculous. Chilled vodka and lemon juice does not lemon drop make. Food was OK. My husband and I stopped in for dinner at Prost last Saturday when we driving back to Baltimore from the Philly area. Owned and operated by Bavarian natives, the restaurant has been serving up authentic German/Bavarian food and culture since 1998! So this menu has a lot more than your typical German-American biergarten offerings. We went for a couple of their specialties - Sauerbraten (sour beef) and Goulash - which were both fantastic. My husband enjoyed a German beer (he always loves a German Hefeweizen), and I had Gluehwein (red wine served warming and steeped with warming spices). Everything tasted great, but it was also just a wonderful place to enjoy a meal: music (an accordionist played throughout our meal), children dancing to the music, classic German decor (including some Christmas touches), and great service! Didn't know this spot existed and came up on a search as we were craving German food. Off the beaten path in Aberdeen. Big space and reminds me of the Biergartens I've visited in Bavaria. Large main area with Bench tables along with a good size Bar area and a few smaller Dining rooms. Would be fun to be here when it is packed as it was quite late Saturday afternoon. They have a display of some of their more popular entrees and specials at the entrance. Ordered to go and had a Hacker Pschorr Gold while waiting. Tasty medium body Lager. Wanted to try a couple of Entrees so it was Jager Schnitzel (Pork Loin) with a side of Spaetzle. Curry Wurst with fries and an extra Knackwurst. Schnitzel was very good and loved the Spaetzle. I am torn about writing this review. I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant. I love German food, and we were looking for a place to hold a celebration gathering with about 10 people. I even called and made reservations, and warned them that I am a wheelchair user. None of that effort was necessary. The restaurant was EMPTY, at 6pm, on a Saturday. As we were leaving there was absolutely no one around except for the accordion player. When we entered, I thought the accordion player was fun, but after about a half hour of not being able to hear anyone in our party, and our waitress getting exasperated because she couldn't hear anyone while we were trying to order, we were all pretty much over it. I can now say that I have heard "Take me out to the ballgame" played on an accordion in a German beerhall, while no sports were to be seen, though. Dude didn't even stop playing when we accidentally broke a bench, and two of our party were rolling on the floor, trying to keep from crushing each other between planks of wood. Our waitress did not seem to enjoy being there, did not know the menu items, could not remember to bring condiments, disappeared for half-hours at a time, and really should have told us that half the items on the menu were not available. Of the six or so sausage selections listed on the menu, only 2 were available. The pork shank wasn't available. And at that point, I threw up my hands in disgust and didn't order anything. Well, I DID get a $4 appetizer pretzel which was half stale, clearly not made on site, and came with the most God awful mustard for dipping that I have ever put in my mouth. I ate half of it and pushed it away. The food came out slowly. And that was fine, at first, because some members of our party were coming from Glen Burnie and got stuck in traffic and a rainstorm. But 40 minutes passed between appetizers and entrees. There were no rave reviews for any of the entrees. The pork roast was tough. The sauerkraut was sweet. Pretty much everyone took leftovers home because they got bored with eating. Dessert was the biggest hit. We weren't the only ones who were unimpressed with service. A friend of one of our party just happened to be sitting at the bar, where he claimed he sat for over a half hour without anyone coming to take his order. Ahhh, so now the empty restaurant makes sense. I understand that this is a second location for Prost, but they seem to be treating it as a redheaded stepchild. I can't see this location sticking around for very much longer, which is a pity because I hate to see a restaurant fail. I'll wrap with this: if you're craving German, try their original location. I plan on taking my own advice, to compare the two, just not any time soon. Once you get burnt by a restaurant, it's hard to try again right away. read more

Love this place lots of space for seating, i would meet my parents here back in the day before they moved to Texas. Me and my grandma go here from time to time and even when she goes with friends I'm always brought back a curry wurst and schnitzel with spatezel. Amazing and what a hidden gem on our road trip down south. I love it when I find a good German spot as those are so hard to find. Price is reasonable and not exorbitant like NYC. Beers were great. The is place is great. The ambience is the cherry on top to the great German food. I love the jagerschnitzel and the currywurst. The appetizers are no joke, either. Fried Camembert and the "flying pig" shine amongst others. Their pretzels with the cheese sauce are not to be missed as well. We've lived in Germany, so we are highly critical of restaurants that are German. There aren't many here in Maryland that are decent, even though there used to be a very large German population here. I'm usually so disappointed with those restaurants that profess to be German that I end up making the food myself because mine is constantly good. I also had a good teacher....my Nanny who was first generation here in this country. With that said, we visited Prost since it was another German restaurant we had not tried. It's a fairly long ride from our home, however for good German food, it did not necessarily disappoint. The restaurant itself is sort of like a bierhalle and there is a traditional Biergarten out back. We were offered seating out there, but selected to eat inside at one of the booth tables that they have (stammtisch). Very nice atmosphere and large facility. We were showed the specials upon entering. I expected more of a German flair....avocado toast, well maybe it's being eaten in Munchen, but I can have that here....so I got lost on that one. We had a very attentive server the whole time we were there, so no complaints. Hubby ordered pork schnitzel Jaeger style with spatzle and I got schweinhaxn which I selected a bread dumpling and red cabbage. I was expecting good things. Hubby's dish was spot on. Spatzle was tender and they gave it a little fry. Pork schnitzel was cooked perfectly with a little crunch. I was very happy with my dumpling and red cabbage. I missed getting the crunchy fat cap on my schweinhaxn. We are able to get it at the other restaurant we dine at, however it's a 24 hours before coming request. It was nice just to be able to get it on demand. The meat was tender and flavorful, served in a lovely gravy! Just missed the fat that makes schweinhaxn so wonderful! We split a apple strudel for dessert which did not disappoint. Bill wasn't crazy for what we ordered. We will try it again in time. I got lost with the specials and no fat cap on the meat, which I know is possible to get, so that's why I went with a four star. Oh, we did get a pretzel app. That was tasty. Large chunks of meat, buttery spätzle, mouthwatering sauce - this hearty, savory dish was just what the doctor ordered on a gloomy, rainy day. The value is insane! I loved our unplanned visit to Prost on a Saturday. There's a large beer-hall style dining area and separate bar area for sports and shenanigans. Their food menu, beer list, and decor give off major Munich vibes. I was a big fan of the variety of offerings. We started with a large pretzel and jalapeno bacon potato poppers. Beers can be ordered by the liter, because this is the only appropriate quantity to consume German brews. The staff was kind, but service definitely made me feel like I was in Europe. The food came quickly, but I felt like we waited forever until we finally flagged someone to give us the check. Ample parking and indoor seating makes this a great place to gather with friends. The menu is sure to please most, if not all, with a fun selection of food, drink, and dessert options. The prices were fair for the amount of food you're served, and if you're lucky, you'll have some to take home. Prost is a solid joint. read more

It's so nice to have some variety here in Aberdeen. I came for a quick bite and ended up getting the flying pig wings w/ the boozy sauce which is as good as they make it sound, fall of the bone tender. I also got the fries, and dinner roll which were sooo good with the butter! To top the meal off I tried one of the wines and I'm happy to say I loved it. First visit here, my Brazilian friend wanted authentic German food. The restaurant looks very authentic. The ambiance is beautiful, wooden beer tables and benches, German Schlager music. As a Bavarian, I was hopeful. The Service was amazing. Faith is a sweetheart and everyone else was also very attentive and kind. 5 stars for the Service team. We got the big pretzel appetizer and it was good. The pretzel was warm and soft and had the right amount of salt. My friend had the Jägerschnitzel with fries and she loved it. The fries were very delicious, easily some of the best we ever had. My food was a different story. In all fairness, I am a Bavarian girl from Munich so I kind of knew that I probably should have gone with the Currywurst to save myself from disappointment but I stupidly went with the Schweinebraten mit Knödel (dumplings). While the pork roast was ok and the sauce was not too bad, the dumplings were inedible. Furthermore I have never seen an uglier Knödel. It had the consistency of play doh and the color of Christmas cookie dough. You see, a true Kartoffelknödel should have a light yellow color and once you cut it with a knife if falls apart and melts in your mouth. I think we will be back to try the sausages but I would advise to stay away from the dumplings since they are not at all what you would expect from a Bavarian Knödel. In the unlikely event that I am able to eat here, I will update my review. However, when trying to make a reservation, I found that they do not answer their phone, whether selecting the "speak to the host" option or the "place a take-out order" option. Their website's contact page lists a phone number and an email address. Click on their links, and you will be redirected to a generic phone number (like 800-123-4567) and an inoperative email address set up by the web page designer and not updated by the restaurant. The website says that you can send them a message through the website. Never mind. They do not respond to those. And don't bother with a Facebook message; they do not respond to them, either. I would be coming from out of state to dine here with my extended family but I will not risk the disappointment of showing up with a hungry crew to a closed restaurant. We stopped in for a weekday lunch recently. The ambiance brings you right into Germany. We tried a variety of things. Started with the pretzel and beer cheese - I thought it would be served warm but it was cold. Pretzel was good. The spread was better as a leftover the next day after the flavors had blended. The sausage sampler was really good to get a variety as I'm not too familiar with German food - served with plenty of German potato salad and sauerkraut. The show stopper was the Chicken schnitzel - soooo good. We got one too go. The bread dumplings and potato dumplings were not my favorite - artificial tasting and contained too much thickener so they were jiggly. Prost Restaurant in Aberdeen is delightful. It is roomy with several areas to be seated. Last time there we sat in the bar and enjoyed it as it was a very cold day and the bar felt cozier than the nice, but cavernous, dining room. Server was Thor who is classy and thoughtful. Drinks: men enjoyed the German beers and we ladies enjoyed spiced, warm red wine--Gluehwein. Food: we split ribs and pretzels for the appetizer. Hearty and delicious. Our mains were Reubens (huge and delicious--took half home), Jaeger schnitzel with spaetzles,(one of us had Pork, the other chicken. Both of us loved it. The final diner had a bratwurst with sauerkraut. All of us really liked all of the food. Well, with one small exception--the ribs were amazing on visit #1, but this time they were a bit greasy. This is a fun German themed restaurant with fairly good food. We started with the pretzel. It is just a frozen pretzel. There is nothing special about it or the mustards they serve with it. I had the Sauerbraten as an entree. This was a very large portion and was fairly well executed. The gravy was indeed sour but only just enough so. It had a nice balance of fat and sweetness. This is the German restaurant that we used to go to in Port Deposit, MD. Apparently, they moved in 2020 but then Covid hit. It used to be a Moose Lodge. They have it painted light blue. It doesn't look like much on the outside but it's absolutely gorgeous on the inside and the food is amazing! I had Jager Schnitzel with Spatzle noodles and my dad had a pork roast with gravy, potato dumpling and Sauerkraut. Yummy! Their desserts are homemade and fresh! We chose the chocolate mountain cake! Wow! Service was fantastic. The place is gorgeous and there is an accordion player on Saturday nights. It's easy to get to. Right off of RT 40 as you turn to go to Aberdeen but left instead of right . Across from Aberdeen Fire Station. Highly recommend the restaurant and food! During these Covid times one of the big deals about restaurant is take out appeal. Prost did an excellent job of putting my dishes together so I could plate and enjoy as if I ate there. I ordered a bratwurst dinner (with sauerkraut and potatoes) and it was good. I also ordered a Jager Schnitzel plate which came with spatzle. They gravy was packaged separately therefore preserving the crunchy outside until I decided to smother it. Good Food; good service and a beautiful and clean restaurant (next time i'll dine in). The staff was great. Super nice, accommodating, and attentive. My issue is with the price and food quality. We were shown a display of specials. To me, "specials" means cheaper than the normal menu price, or something the place doesn't normally offer. Not the case here. We decided to stick with apps and a drink and be on our way. $70 for a beer, 2 lemonades, a pretzel, soup and one "special" app. Liter beer - menu price $11.95. Mine? $15 "Special" pretzel - menu price of $10, a large pretzel that tasted like a Super Pretzel, served with a side of basic yellow mustard. "Special" jalapeño popper bombs - $9.95 menu price, raw diced jalapeños with potatoes and a little cheese. The dipping sauce was nice. Beef goulash - tasty soup, no guarantee it wasn't a can of Dinty Moore. The rest of the menu offered a lot of German specialties. But I can't bring myself to pay $16-18 for a sausage with some kraut and potato salad. Many people love this place. I excepted more, well, except for the prices. To each their own i suppose. Stopped here for lunch while running errands in the area. Service is extremely friendly here, they have a platter of dishes and specials out at the entrance and they'll explain each of them before seating you. I sat at the bar to get a beer (they have a wide selection of german beers on tap and bottle, along with imported wines), and atmosphere was casual and definitely reminded me of european bars. Bartender was extremely nice and even held my seat and had the kitchen pause my food when I had to make a quick drive to pickup my s/o. Had the bratswurst with usual sides and some extra curry ketchup, great value for the price and the curry ketchup was definitely a top pick to use as a sauce. Our friends who live in Bel Air suggested we come from Towson to try a new restaurant that they heard about in Aberdeen. So, we set out on our adventure to have dinner at Prost German Restaurant. "Prost" is Bavarian for "Cheers." It is a rather large restaurant with a large community type room with long bench tables, a small dining room with regular tables and a good-size bar. They all dress in traditional Dirndlsand Lederhosen. We did not get off to the best start because as we entered we could hear very loud music. The hostess, Victoria, completely understood when I told her that my husband would not be able to hear anything if we sat in the community dining room at the long tables with the live music. Don't get me wrong, we liked the music, it was just too loud for us. Victoria very kindly put us in the smaller dining room, and it was just perfect. We could still enjoy the live music as well as conversation with our friends. As it turned out, Victoria, is a multitasker, and she was our server as well. My husband started off with Kostritzer draft beer, and I enjoyed a glass of Sun Garden Gewürztraminer white wine. Our friends had a light beer and a Irish whisky on the rocks. We decided to try the appetizer of the Brezen & Obatzda - billed as "Two authentic Bavarian soft pretzels served with a bier cheese spread that you will love." We loved the pretzels, the cheese -not so much. For our entrees, two of us enjoyed the Jager Schnitzel (pork loin that was tenderized, seasoned, lightly breaded and deep fried to a golden brown with Prost Jager Mushroom gravy) with French fries. My husband decided on the Oma's Gulasch (a stew with braised beef & pork in a perfectly seasoned sauce with Hungarian paprika served over spätzle) - he was a happy camper. My girlfriend went for the Bratwurst (traditional grilled German bratwurst served on a bed of sauerkraut and German potato salad); she was thrilled with her meal. We were especially pleased that the owner, Renete, came over to chat with us and tell us more about their German roots. The ambiance here is great if you're looking for a "German Beer Hall" experience, and it would be a great place to bring a large party, but personally, I'll probably never be back here. The women staff are all in demeaning traditional-ish garb that shows off their chests. The men are wearing slightly short pants for their costumes, not lederhosen. Very equitable. But I digress. Our waiter was good, he knew the menu, knew the beers, remembered our orders, refilled our drinks, etc. We came here to try the black forest cake for my husband's birthday, as it's his favorite. Now, they were out, and that is sad. But what's annoying is that they were out of a bunch of different menu items. Out of so many wines that they didn't bother to give us a wine list (they discussed whether or not they should give us one at the entrance). They apparently don't even have a beer list, though they have 18+ beers on tap and the staff do know them. The problem is if you don't know German beers, you're not going to get anything from that, you need a beer menu with like, tasting notes and IBUs and such on it. Anyhow, the food we did have was ok, and they were up front when we came in and let us know what they were out of for food (they were out of pork shank and several varieties of sausage - they make them from scratch, it's understandable) and the specials. We had the Brezen & Obatzda (pretzel and cheese spread). This was exactly what you expected. The pig wings were solidly ok, they'd have been better tossed in the sauce, and they could have given you more sauce if they weren't going to toss them, but they were nice and tender and tasty. And unique! You get points from me for unique. My husband had the pork schnitzel, this was probably the best thing we ordered. I had the sauerbraten, which was tougher than I expected it to be, but the flavor was good. Our friend had the Rouladen, which was also pretty good. Amongst our party for sides we tried the fries, the spatzle, the potato salad, the red cabbage, and the potato dumpling. All solid offerings. Anyhow, then we said yes! We would love dessert please, and he brought out the dessert tray, and my face fell, because ya, of the 6 items on their dessert menu, they had 0. And ya, we did get dessert anyway, and the creme brulee was good, but after committing to appetizers and entrees and then finding out they were out of the reason we came, well, nothing was going to make me happy. So ya, I just spent $200 for black forest cake and didn't get it. read more

I had the grandma goulash and my husband had the spatzel. We split some onion rings. The food did take a while and the onion rings came out with the rest of our food. The goulash was okay. Decently flavorful and the dumplings were good. My husband enjoyed the spatzel but said it was super salty. I went into the office for the first time in several months and some coworkers wanted to get lunch. We first tried to go to one of our favorite lunch spots at Ruggles, but it was closed. Someone mentioned that Prost had moved from Port Deposit to Aberdeen so we should try it. Upon entering, they had 3 plates of food out at the host stand which were the daily specials. To be honest, none of them looked that appealing. We were the only ones there so we had our pick of seating. A lot of booth style tables with benches and some regular tables. No music which meant the restaurant echoed when we were talking and when other people finally came in, it was really awkward. They finally put music on after about 15 minutes. The menu we were given was fairly expensive for lunch. I went ahead and ordered the German Thai special because a coworker did. It came out and looked like a flattened piece of breaded chicken (and tbh I don't even know if it was pork or chicken) with some sort of Hawaiian looking glaze on top and a side of spatzle. I finished it because I was starving, but it didn't leave me wanting to ever eat it again. When the bill came, that meal was $17! Also, a coworker who had been there before said that Prost had a lunch menu, but we weren't given it despite being there on a Wednesday at 12:30 pm (I just looked at the website and lunch is T-F 11-2 with a DIFFERENT MENU). Overall, this place has potential because the restaurant had a lot of parking and was very open inside. Server and host were also very attentive and friendly.
