I took my granddaughter in for a follow up appointment after a weekend stop at Care Now. We checked in at the desk with a friendly lady and before we could even get a good look at the fish swimming around in the fish tank in the lobby, we were called back to the lion room. There is a really cute jungle theme here! I thought the Dr was very friendly and thorough. My granddaughter felt completely at ease with her. We talked about allergies and I learned something new today - the correct way to use Flonase! A prescription was sent to the pharmacy via her iPad and off we went. On the way out, there is a sticker station where the kiddos can choose a sticker, so that was the big decision of the hour. Insurance was billed so I didn't need to make a payment at the visit. I'm just thinking ... if they're not being honest and upfront on their website and actually contradicting themselves, I probably don't want them around my children. I'm not a big fan of, "Here are the insurance companies we accept," and then on another page of their own website, "We don't accept ..." the ones that they said they accepted. It's dishonest, disingenuous, and sad. I actually have a problem with doctors saying that there are segments of society they don't want to serve. It tells me a lot about them. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! It took me over a month to schedule a routine 9 month check up because they are "busy in the summer". Then when I went to the 12 month check up, the doctor seemed frazzled and lacked professionalism as his bag of tools spilled everywhere. He then proceeded with useless facts and failed to check the vital and necessary things, a doctor should be checking for. I even had to ask him to check a couple things, as he seemed to have forgotten. Then fast forward to when my son had his vaccines and received a high fever (we ended in the ER)-I called the office after hours and it seems no one is on call. It has been 3 days and no one has still called me! We will be finding a new doctor immediately! read more

I have really loved my experience here. I've had some health scares with a child, and you could reach them by text or phone call after hours. They are prompt with their office duties, like referrals and paperwork. They even communicate via email which is convenient. The doctor takes time with your child and explains things in detail. They seem honest and care about their profession. Something unique is that they do house calls in certain situations. I saw someone else's low star review for insurances accepted but the reviewer is wrong. You can even see that in their photos posted. The list of insurances accepted includes the ones the don't, but it's clearly stated on both pages that they don't accept those insurances. I think they were confused. I wouldn't let that sway you. They have two entrances. One for sick and one for well. And they keep sick patients in other rooms. This is an honest review from a real patient for 1 year+. read more

Dr. Chowning was my daughter's pediatrician from 6 months to a year before he moved locations. She's now 7 years old and after having multiple doctors rushed visits after she got a tick Bourne illness I found where he was practicing and drove an hour and a half one way to get her seen by him, he gave me answers to everything I needed to know and calmed my nerves by ordering additional testing. Now I have a newborn and have switched both of their pcps to Dr Chowning. We are never waiting long in the waiting room and he is always very thorough, NEVER rushed. My 7 year old absolutely loves him, and even with it being over a 4 hour round trip to go to the doctor, it's well worth it. read more

We absolutely LOVE this office! Dr. Chowning is fantastic! We have called Saturday afternoon and have been told to come in. When he was first starting the practice he was even making house-calls (I'm not sure if he still is or not). He's not quick to push antibiotics, but decides with you as the parent. His office staff are super sweet! They have TVs in each room which really helps kill time while you're waiting. As far as waiting goes-I've never waited long and am usually in and out within 15 minutes or so. read more

Dr. Chowning and his staff misdiagnosed my child 3 times. Upon a second opinion (4th doctor visit within 4 weeks) due to my child not getting better, he was diagnosed with pnuenomia. I recommend going elsewhere! read more

Dr. Chowning is awesome! He came to our home for a newborn evaluation when our new baby boy got home from the hospital. He also did a home visit for our one month check up. It was great not having to leave the house with our newborn baby! At two months old, we went into Dr. Chowning's office for a check up and shots. We could not be more pleased with him, his nurses and office staff, and the office atmosphere! I love that there's a well visit entrance vs a sick visit entrance, like the gorgeous huge fish tank in the waiting room, and love the cute animal decor with TVs in each exam room.
