My absolute favorite Park in NYC. This was made by the same two designers as Central Park (Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux). The grandness is the same as CP but this has its own unique feel. Without the throngs of Manhattan crowds trampling over every inch of open space, Prospect is more relaxing and serine. The shape (non-box) also allows for some very cool walks. Although not exactly hilly, there are a few ups and downs that make for interesting features and a few strenuous biking hills. The boathouse, the lake, Grand Army Plaza, The Museum, Botanic Gardens are all attractions that bring people in, but I really love the Ravine the most. A few years back the city decided to do a full-on renovation of some areas of the park, what they found was amazing...the level of detail in the design was so exact, Olmsted actually had the rocks in the Ravine numbered and mapped out just in case they needed to do some maintenance a hundred years later. Amazing!!! There is a great history to this spot and the "Battle of Brooklyn" which you should check out but this isn't exactly the platform for that. Prospect is not a park you will walk around and get lost in, but it is a park where you can walk around and lose yourself in thought. For New York, that is an invaluable quality!!! read more

If you're coming here in the summer, beware of parking! Living in Brooklyn has tons of perks, great restaurants, museums, bars, night life, whatever you can think of. The one downside no green.... that's where Prospect Park comes in! I bike here almost every week in the summer. Great biking lane as well as walking. Tons and tons of trees, water -- and also tons and tons of people. That part can be quite annoying. In the summer on a nice day it feels like there are millions of people walking all over! Even though the park is huge sometimes it really feels that everywhere I go there are twenty people there! But what is nice is that there are so many hidden trails and small meadows that people don't even know about, that if you know ;) just where to look you can find beautiful secluded areas with just 20 people instead of 10,000! It's just so nice, and then there are the concerts and turtle/duck ponds. It is very relaxing. Bring a book, take a blanket, and just relax!! Oh, and don't forget sunscreen, water, and food. There are places to buy, but it's so much more relaxing when you just have everything. read more

Prospect Park is truly the heart of Brooklyn, offering an oasis of greenery and tranquility amidst the urban hustle. Designed by the same minds behind Central Park, this expansive space is perfect for a variety of activities. The park's trails are ideal for walking, running, or biking, providing a refreshing escape into nature. The picturesque lake is perfect for a leisurely paddle or simply relaxing by the water. Don't miss the beautiful Long Meadow, which is great for picnics and sunbathing. For families, the zoo and playgrounds are a hit, while the lush Ravine offers a more secluded, forest-like experience. The seasonal events, including outdoor concerts and farmers markets, add vibrant energy to the park. Overall, Prospect Park is a must-visit for locals and tourists alike, offering a perfect blend of recreation, nature, and community spirit. It's a cherished escape that showcases the best of Brooklyn. read more

Being a resident of Brooklyn I cannot but say the wasrmest words about Prospect Park. I have a very special tender attitude to this place. It brings back the sweeetest memories of my life. And that's not the only reason. I fell in love with its luch green spaces, gently gurved walkways, various summer concerts and festivals, golden autumn foliage, and even a skating rink, which in combination make it all year round getaway. Even the architects worked on the planning of the park's landscape remarked that they are prouder than of any other project. I'm sure the severest critics would agree. So many activities to do here: jogging, picnic, cricket, football, frisbee and so forth. The best way is to experience park walking thrpugh Long Meadow and than to the eastern side, where the lake and most of the attractions are located. Built in 1912 carousel still thrills the kids. And the Park still thrills me! read more

Take a New York City discount car rentals vehicle and escape to Prospect Park. This 585-acre urban oasis is situated right in the middle of Brooklyn. The park's designers were famed landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux - also the same architects who designed Central Park. Prospect Park. Many people are jealous of me, because it's literally right across the street from my house. So, yes, I have that amazing view. Lots of dogs, many activities during the summer days. In the fall the leaves turn all colors, amazing! I honestly, haven't been within the park in a long time, but I do walk past it as often as I can. It's definitely good for the kids to play. During the summer months, please expect lots of people to be there. It is in fact a popular attraction for all. There are benches both within and along the sides of the park, so there will always be a chance to grab a seat. Even if you're waiting for the bus, or taking a stroll, benches are available. I enjoy the atmosphere to just sit and enjoy it, nice sunshine, nature air, it's beautiful. read more

Theses park rangers ain't shit. A baby bird fell off the tree above us. My kids of course wanted us to save him. I saw a park ranger lady and asked while my kids watched "can we help this baby bird?" And they replied "just throw it in the trash"..even if that was what they do they shouldn't just blurt that out in front of little kids. At least take it from me and make something up.. Shit, or actually help, it was a low hanging branch I ended up standing on a chair and placing it back on the nest and saving the bird while my kids celebrated my awesome dad achievement. Additionally, the porter John had a big ass emoji shit on the toilet seat.. WTF bro. That's why we can't have nice things.. Things are getting better but we still got a ways to go read more

Do you enjoy escaping the concrete jungle that is Manhattan, then a nice alternative to Central Park is to escape to Prospect Park. One of the most convenient trains to reach this park by is the Q which also reaches the bottom of Central Park. This park for the most part is very well kept. For those that like to cook there are areas where you can bring out your barbeque or use what is offered in the specific area. The only problem with people using those grills is if you happen to be running by, the air usually gets clogged with smoke. You also have to appreciate that attached to the park are the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and the Prospect Park Zoo, two very special places to visit. So now it is your time to decide when to escape here. read more

This is the best park in BK...enough said? No there is more to say. You can catch me here during the colder months since it is usually less crowded and I have more space to work-out! I would recommend that you check out the dog run for a sweet hang. I will say that there should be more public restrooms here, but that's just my opinion, not everyone may care about this. There used to be a small public swimming area at the southern end of the park many years ago, but it looks like they filled that in with cement and made it a playground. Props to the clean-up crew, they're doing a great job keeping up with the trash everyone forgets to pick-up/take home with them. Might beat central park as the top dog in nyc in coming years. read more

Doesn't look like much when you walk past, but I was practically dying of hunger so I popped in. The definition of a hole-in-the-wall. I got the regular hamburger and wow... there are no words. A classic burger done right. Crisp bun, juicy patty, stuffed with all the essentials (ketchup, shredded lettuce, tomato, and pickles). There's about a million options available between the menu board and wall full of specials, so it can get a little overwhelming, but you really can't go wrong. Not much else to say besides go see for yourself! You won't be disappointed. read more

A very nice place! Really! So clean and so much nature right in the middle of Brooklyn. Excellent differentiated landscapes, fields, trails, paths, walking, running, hiking, biking, rollerblading, ice hockey rink, skating, baseball, soccer, football, theatre, music, lake, streams, and waterfalls. I mean you can always find something new, every time you visit it. The morning farmer market is just amazing. You may buy fresh baked goods, jelly, fruit, and gifts to bring home to friends. It is always a wonderful experience spending time here! read more

There are so many ways to help the Park, but I won't bore ya with all the stuff about volunteering (though we'd love you to) and the like. Just come on out to some fun parties the Park's Junior Committee throws year-round. In Winter it's Skating Under the Stars, and come the warm weather it's time for the Summer Soiree. Check it all out at http://www.myspace.com/prospectparkjuniors Cheers! Eugene (the Park PR guy - though a lot of it is out of love 'cause really, they don't pay me enough). read more

This is it folks. If I had to make a top 5 for places to visit in Brooklyn this would be on it. Go here on a weekend and marvel at what passes before your eyes. You won't be able to find a cultural mecca like this in many other places in the country. Dancing, music, running, baseball, art, yoga, are just some of the things you will encounter on your trip through the park. I'm constantly inspired by this place which is why you can spot me circling it every chance I get. read more

I stopped going to this park because of the people that go there. Almost every time I'm there someone wants to harass me and I just can't take it anymore. The park itself is gorgeous but I can never enjoy it because there is always someone making a crack about my body which I find very offensive. I think the park should have more security because if there was a serious issue there is no one to really go to. Central Park is definitely the better of the two parks. read more

I like this park more than Central Park because it feels less touristy, and more family oriented. It is also less manicured and I enjoy going into the woods and up into the hills. Definitely prettier in the summer and spring-wintertime everything is grey and dead but what do you expect in New York. Sometimes there ARE weirdos walking around and i've gotten nervous while running alone early in the morning but again, what do you expect in New York... read more

Greatest park in New York. Prospect Park has so much to offer. It is clean, peaceful, and green. It is such a marvellous escape from my Monday-Friday city life. My girl & I always start our weekends off at Prospect Park. Our dog is also crazy about Prospect Park. We walk the entire loop of Prospect Park, and then finish our morning walk up by stocking up on some goodies from Greenmarket. We are so blessed to have Prospect Park in the heart of Brooklyn! read more

Was here Saturday Morning. And left after 5 PM. It was that good. The park is doing something to the visitors. They just turn happier when they come here. As if stepping out of the city, and walk into an area surrounded with trees so the work. We were group of like 10 celebrating grandma birthday and it was a big success. The kids also had the best time. No need to drive far. You got a beautiful place right here at the hear of Brooklyn. read more

Obviously a central green space in Brooklyn, this park is wonderful for a winter walk, a spring game of frisbee, or a summer bask in the sun. Since COVID, it has been great for a distanced gathering at any time. There are open spaces, and woodsy walks. The free performances in the bandshell space during non-COVID times are also AMAZING. Come get lost in Brooklyn's biggest park! read more
