Pokemon Day Out event at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6 was so fun! I never been to this pier until the event. We went on Sunday which was the last day of the event. The event was organized for the most part. But we didn't have issue going through the entrance since we had tickets. The map and the way they set up was explanatory. The staffs were friendly for the most part. We did see one or two looks like they were done for the day (no smile or enthusiasm energy). There were a lot of fun interactive games such as coloring station, tossing beans bags, matching tiles, and fishing game. You and your family can freely wonder around. There were lived performances of Pokemon characters dancing with children on stages at some point. There were photo booths where family and friends can take photos and print them out. The point epic experience for me was the "Meet and Greet" booth. I got to meet Snorlax and Quaxly! I had so much fun meeting them and taking photos with them. They are so cute! This event definitely brings me back to my inner childhood. Everyone at the event seemed to be very happy. Though sadly, we didn't get a pack of fun cards at the end of the event. They ran out of the cards. We ended getting an Pokemon eraser which is still something better than nothing. Overall, it was pretty fun and would love to see these kind of events happen again soon! read more

It was such a great experience to be the volunteer at the Macy's Fireworks for the 4th of July 2026. It was great to see people from near and far wanting to experience this exciting show. It was hot so I made sure to tell people to stay hydrated the crew I was with was so nice we had a great time and great seats to see this beautiful 250 year celebration. They needed more available bathrooms for the crew and more cooling stations. I would rather be a spectator next year...it's always a pleasure read more

This is my new favorite part of NYC. Yes, Central Park and Park Slope are certainly the kings when it comes to parks, but Pier 6 has a charm entirely of its own. From immaculate playgrounds for kids and BBQ areas for adults to kayaking and beach volleyball, it feels as though you've been transported to an entirely new dimension within New York City. I spent literally five hours the other day exploring and trying to get lost; it was that much fun. Speaking of getting lost, I actually forgot my house and car keys on a lounge chair while enjoying the simultaneous view of the stream, boats, river, and BBQ area and didn't realize it until the end of the day, around 10 pm. The crazy part is that one of their staff members kept them safe for me the entire time! I found a local parks officer, and after a quick click and call on his radio, they were located and returned to me within 60 seconds! This park is such a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of New York City. read more

This is such a well marinated park with a great use of space! I haven't been able to explore all parts of Brooklyn Bridge Park, but I have enjoyed spending some afternoons here picnicking. The grassy area of the park is easily accessible from Joralemon to the right of the entrance. There's a large lawn that's perfectly maintained and almost hidden away from the crowds- I've never had an issue finding a nice space to lay a blanket down, even on July 4. I might be spilling the secret?! In front of this grassy area are BBQs right on the water (such a gorg spot) that are first come first serve. Just bring some charcoal and grilling supplies and you'll be good to go! read more

This place is amazing! It does get a bit crazy with older kids at the end of the day but if you plan early enough - you will have a blast with the little ones! There are water lab, pier 6 playground and the sand playground - all hits with my kids! And the bus stop on bridge park drive is the first stop for that bus line. It is right across the way so you time on your way back and can stop at restaurant in Cobble Hill. read more

Pier six has some of the best stuff, especially in summer. There are gated playgrounds and water areas for the littles, volleyball courts, Fornino Pizza, and you even have super easy access to Ample Hills that's over on pier five. Fun Tips/Notes: -Volleyball courts fill up FAST on Saturday mornings. Get there before 8am. -Lots of green spaces to sit but the pier is also lined with benches. -Boat on the north side of the pier is a restaurant and bar. Grab drinks while floating on the water! -Fornino's rooftop seating has some of the best, unencumbered views of the city skyline. *swoons* Enjoy your trip to pier 6. It's well worth it! read more

Loving this new Splash pad installation for children at Pier six. With a modern design to water sprinklers and man made water tunnels, it gives kids ample space to run around and enjoy themselves. Changing area is actually around the corner to Forino Restaurant, and lines are pretty long (make sure to come early). Pad has a soft cushioned floor one of the great benefits of this splash area. With any kids play areas parents are to follow closely behind to ensure safety. Walking up the second level there are more hands on water contraptions that children can play with. There aren't many areas for adults to sit and watch; so best bet is to walk and follow behind your own kid. Would definitely come back again for the wonderfully design Splash pad. What a beautiful park. I spent all last summer teaching morning yoga here (7:30am FREE all summer : ) and the views of the water and the city from the lawn are gorgeous. A perfect backdrop for yoga, a picnic, a jog or a walk, chat with friends ... as long as the weather is good, this area is great. There's also restaurants and areas for more organized recreation (basketball, roller rink etc) nearby as this is right next to/part of? Brooklyn Bridge Park. Playing league volleyball here (Big City), and enjoying a sunset view over NYC's downtown skyline never gets old at Pier 6. The entire area is well-groomed, with nice landscaping, clean facilities and solid amenities. You have Bark Hot Dogs (pet-friendly, serving food & beer, and free dog biscuits), a water-playground, the sand volleyball courts, and plenty of places to sit and soak in the views of it all. The bathrooms are modern, and clean too, a rarity for parks and general public spaces... This park is legit. I came here on a beautiful day in late September. Nice soccer pitch, beach volleyball courts, and gorgeous city views. The whole area is nice and on a day with nice weather it is a great place to bike or walk. I can't wait until I visit next year and get some BBQ action and chilling on a nice September day! Upon coming to Brooklyn for a month, I was wondering if I would have a nice place to walk or things to do other than city items. I was amazed to find that the piers near Brooklyn Heights had been turned into recreational areas, forested areas and such that made it a joy to walk among. On a typical day you can find joggers, kids playing at slide Mountain which is a waterpark and it is very near the pier 6 ferry which can take you directly into downtown New York. All this only a couple of blocks from where I've been staying. Pier 6. has been a joy to be at and participate within. read more

I absolutely loved this view, even in spite of the rain. I would come back here in a heartbeat. It was so stunning. Parking might be a little of a nightmare, so I might recommend taking a subway/bus to get here. There's a little park for the children. The shore is popular for photoshoots. This park has a little bit of everything for everyone of all ages. I've been here a few times and the first time I was exiting the ferry from Governors Island. I was too exhausted to check out the park at that time. The park always appear to be clean and well maintained. My last visit I brought my nieces for some fun in the sun. The views of the East River are amazing and tranquil. There are several areas to sit and enjoy the space. I could've sat there and chilled for a while, however children get bored easily and need some adventure. There are several playground areas for children all of ages. However, the areas cater to younger children. My 11 year and 7 year old nieces enjoyed the big swings but wasn't too impressed with the other children areas. We had to wait about 30 minutes for them to use the big swings. They have a small water park area that was jam packed with adults, teenagers and children. Whew it was way too much going on in the water park area but I understood why since the day was hot and muggy. I didn't see a lot of food trucks or vendors for snacks and I was surprised with the large amount of children running around. This is definitely a park I would visit again and walk down to check out some of the other piers. read more

Great place to come for volleyball on sand. I believe it has at least three courts. The rules are very lax and the people are not hogs. If you want to play they honor the 1 hour maximum rule and let you play. My friend and I came for volleyball for doubles and there were teams who were open into playing you regardless of your level. Of course, it is preferable to be at higher level because you want to play longer and multiple games. Anyways, we got beat very badly multiple times... : ( read more

This is such a great area to bring the kids. There is a wonderful sand area that seems clean. The sand area itself is not shaded but there is a water fountain in the middle that kids can run in and out of to keep cool. There are a lot of side benches that are in the shade to sit and watch the kids. The sand area has a wooden train, a tree house and other areas for kids to run in and out of. Next to the sand area, there is a great water space. There are two levels to the water space separately by rocks and sprinklers. It seems to be good for all ages from older teens to even the little tots. The water area is pretty shaded by trees but there are not benches or adequate seating around to watch the kids. read more

Undoubtedly the best view of lower Manhattan! Pier 6 is typically much less crowded than the start of Brooklyn Bridge Park. Everyone tends to take their pictures closer to the bridge, over by Dumbo. I would recommend coming down here instead! read more

Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6 - View of the financial district and lower Manhattan - Parks Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Pier 6 has been under construction for some time. I routinely jog by here as it offers one of the best views of Manhattan this side of Brooklyn. All of last year, it was dismal to come here. Construction everywhere and an eye sore to boot. But then last night, I came here for a nice summer run and my eyes were pleasantly surprised. Much of the construction site was replaced by 3 beautiful sand volleyball courts with people playing lobbing the ball back and forth. The website says a restaurant and rooftop deck are in the works. I have yet to see these new additions... Pier 6 also has a huge playground. The website calls it a "destination playground," and I completely agree. When I was a child, all we had were some beat-up swings, a slide and if we were lucky, monkey bars. This place has two large high slides that empty into a large sandbox, water-play area, rope swings, and a climbing area. This really isn't Kansas anymore. Not that I am from Kansas...What ever happened to the simple things in life? Sigh... And although it is nice that everything is all built up now and looks new, I somehow still find it artifical. I like old brownstones, lots of trees, old-fashioned fun, nature and things in life that don't cost a thing. Well at least the view is free and unadulterated. Every time I run by here, I can't help but feel so fortunate to be in this beautiful city. With the sun setting and all the lights on in the skyscrapers in Manhattan, one can't help but gaze across the River and feel an overwhelming sense of peace and tranquility. I love you Brooklyn. This is coming from the perspective of an LA native: LA has nothing like this, therefore you earn 5 stars! What a great area for families! The walk from Pier 1 to Pier 6 is grueling (most of it is in the direct sun and ugly view (Pier 3-5 are under construction) but once you get there, it's fantastic! There is a really fun water play area that is as beautiful as it is functional (unlike the ones in LA that are just sprinklers and water works from the ground or play structures). This water area has multi-levels and is fenced in with lots of greenery and large rocks/boulders where kids can climb (yes, can be slippery and dangerous). There are also dedicated areas for swings, slides and sand. I loved how each area is separated, as its own little neighborhood. There were different swings, all for different age and size groups. There were baby buckets swings, mid-level swings with safety bars over the torso, and plain bench style swings. They also had tarzan type (tire seats and ropes) swings. The slide area had slides and 2 really cool orb-like climbing structures. The sand box is supposedly the largest in the area but we skipped it. Our daughter was so wet from the water play that the sand would have just stuck on her like glue. There are clean restrooms - just know there are lines (as always, for the women only). ;) read more

I'm a fan, with reservations. First, you can't find a better location. If the 63 bus is accessible to you, it's easy peasy to get there and the views of the water and Manhattan are perfect. There are lots of activities for kids and adults of all ages. Playgrounds, picnic areas, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse - lots of great outdoor adventure. They also often have larger events that are free and fun for families, so I definitely give them kudos (and a star above what I actually feel) for that. Two big caveats: the bathroom situation is RIDICULOUS. What thoughtless person built a women's room with 3 stalls for all of Pier 6 AND Pier 5? The line was 20 + mins long, and folks took FOREVER in each stall. So many kids came to play in the water area and then went into the bathroom to change. They need more bathrooms in various locations AND a changing area for kids using the water area. Second, the playground areas are super annoying if you have one kid who likes to slide, another who likes to swing, or even if you just have kids who aren't attached at the hip. The various activity center playground areas are all gated and separated, so you literally can't have one child playing in the water while the other is in a swing nearby and visible. Even within each area, it was designed so there are small nooks hidden behind trees within the play area, so you can only see 3 out of the group of swings (maybe 12 in total) at all. Doesn't give your kids any opportunity to be free without fear of them getting entirely out of site. All in all, I'm sure we will return to Brooklyn Bridge Park often. It is a beautiful space in a beautiful location, and hopefully they'll augment the facilities a bit to improve the bathroom situation. read more

Pier 6 is a full morning of activities for adults and children alike! With sand volleyball courts, running trails, a coffee/food shop and tons of mini play-parks (slide mountain, a sand pit area, splash pad and swings), your kids will be entertained for hours. Easily walkable/scooter-able from Crown Heights neighborhood or closer with all the sidewalks. Plus, you're right on the water, with views of the Business District across the way and of course the Statue of Liberty, but at the same time, you can completely surround yourself with the jungle of trees, feeling like you're possibly miles from any city! This is the perfect spot for a morning with the kiddos, picnic with your S.O., putting in those miles on your legs or just an afternoon with friends. Plus, you really can't miss the views of Manhattan, they are truly breath-taking: seeing the city but being in an urban oasis. read more

On our way back from Ikea in Red Hook we passed by the Brooklyn Bridge and I've always wanted to go to where everyone goes when they go visit the Brooklyn Bridge (now i know is at pier 1). That grassy area where people have picnics, let their puppies look cute in public, and take your typical engagement/wedding pictures. SO, we park someplace and low and behold we ended up at Pier 6. I saw a volleyball court and a little small grassy area where kids were playing on but dogs are forbidden to frolic on. We left this area and headed toward Pier 5 where there is a kiddy pool and a nice walkway/bike path (The Brooklyn Bridge Greenway) that lets you enjoy the Manhattan skyscrapers to your left and the Brooklyn Queens Expressway to your right as you descend the Piers from 6-1 ... they are also doing construction at this time and seem to be expanding. We enjoyed our walk but I am looking forward to finding Pier 1 one day... read more

Such a great place for runners, as you will see, or just to sit and take in the views of the water, right near your feet, and lower manhttan battery park looking on! Great place to workout, meditate, or just read that latest novel you have been meaning to read! The pirate boat restaurant was a lovely cute thing to pass, gotta try that next time! Then the inside restaurant near the greenery, beach volleyball, and children's mini playground designated areas, was lovely! You can tell its a summer, post summer hotspot! After I posted my following overall review for the Brooklyn Bridge Park I realized that Yelp segments the park into piers 6, 5 and 2. Piers 6 and 5 are adjacent to each other. I experienced all of the piers. I decided to post this overall review to each of the piers. If you visit one pier I suggest you visit all of them, since they are so close to each other. I recommend starting at Pier 6. Piers 5 and 2 are my favorites, but, be sure to have lunch by the Brooklyn Bridge. I recently met my brothers, sister and brother-in law at Brooklyn Bridge Park on a beautiful Saturday for lunch. I grew up in Park Slope on 11th street so I have many fond memories of Brooklyn. I arrived here by Pier 5 first before noon so I was lucky enough to find metered street parking for only $6 for up to a maximum of 3 hours. As it was this was more than enough time for us to walk the park and have lunch up by the Brooklyn Bridge. I was able to return within the 3 hour time limit with minutes to spare. I latter realized I was lucky to get this parking spot, because I subsequently noticed many people driving around or waiting for the next available parking spot. When the rest of my family arrived after noon they both had to park their cars in the Quik Park parking garage for about $25. They complained about the lack of public parking in this beautiful park. There seems to be space for more public parking so let's hope that will happen so more people can enjoy this park on the East River. We walked down to Pier 6 to start our stroll up along the numerical piers 6 through 2. Pier 6 has a place to eat. Pier 5 also completed adjacent to a field for sports followed by an outdoor picnic area for families. As we walked along the river the magnificent lower Manhattan skyline was my enjoyment. Pier 2 had a long line for Kayakers. The view of the Brooklyn Bridge at this point was impressive. Great date spot for any season, especially summer. My boyfriend took me here and there's amazing city skyline views. There's also Forninos (delicious pizza place) and Ample hills ice cream. If you have pollen allergies I recommend taking meds before coming because there are A LOT of trees/grass. Parking can be tough because everyone is vying for a spot, I think they're doing constitution to add more parking. If you take public transportation it can be quite a walk, I recommend Uber if you're not driving. read more

I didn't realize they have barbeques that anyone can use to host a party. The day I came we bought pizza at table 87 and walked over to eat it (we got a seat at one of the many tables). That day there were a ton of kids and adult birthday party/ group gatherings taking place which is nice on a sunny day given the exorbitant cost of venues in Brooklyn. read more

Working by this Pier means I get to see this park get more awesome as time goes by and enjoy it. It's awesome for the following reasons: (1) Bark Hot Dogs is open on the weekends on the rooftop of the rest area where the bathrooms are; (2) Under Bark Hot Dogs is an Uncle Louie G's stall; (3) There are several kids playground from the Water Lab to one just full of swings; (4) Plenty of benches and grassy areas; (5) Volleyball courts; (6) Nearby is a big dog run, aka pink park (because of the pink tinted gravel that stains your dogs paws); ..and best, but not last, the view of Manhattan will make your heart sing! We decided to have a family picnic at the Pier 6 park on a long weekend Saturday. The kids loved the long slide. The playground was well designed. And the park was clean and uncrowded. We got two tables near the water front with a fantastic view of the Manhattan skyline. We bought pizza, turkey/ prosciutto sandwiches, cute mini sliders, chips, salad and drinks from Fornino which is conveniently located right in the park. We had a wonderful relaxing time in a beautiful environment. read more

What you need to know: - Governor's Island Ferry leaves at 11am on weekends and goes every 30 minutes - Waterpark area gets insanely crowded - not a lot of shady areas to sit - restrooms that are actually functional and not disgusting (like many parks) -gorgeous city views read more

I didn't like it for the following reasons: 1. The sand area smelled like urine (especially by the bushes). To prove my spidey senses right, a man was holding his toddler up while he urinated!! 2. In the water park area, parents were lounging around like they were on the beach. The area is not that large so adults really should MOVE out of the way so the kids can play. 3. The water pressure was very low so the sprinklers only gave out a "spritz" . 4. There really isn't much to do for the older kids (ages 12 and up). 5. If you enter from the main entrance of the park, pier 6 is quite a stretch. If you have smaller children (or you) who don't enjoy walking, you may want to bring a stroller or enter from the back on Atlantic and Furman. 6. And how could I forget....it's OVERCROWDED!!! I anticipate the duration of the summer will be jammed packed with tiny kids running around peeing in bushes while parents are sun bathing. *Just be prepared for the shoving* 7.The rocks were slippery, not sure if that's from someone having an accident (you know what water can do for ya) or if that's just the science of water on rocks. Whatever it is, the rocks are slippery in the water lab. Pool shoes and flip flops are highly recommended. What I did like: 1. The view is AMAZING!!!! 2. It's right next to the volleyball court (that has sand). It was a nice group of people there, nothing to rowdy and 911 warranted. 3. There's a rooftop right outside the water lab, they have a nice place to grab a quick bite (hotdogs and stuff) perfect the kids. 4. Plenty of sun so if your not a sun person, this is not the place for you. Although, there are areas where they have umbrella tables where you can just relax in the shade. Overall, it's a nice place just wish there was more to do for the older kids. The sand area in the park adjacent to water lab...not many parents were in there to monitor the sand throwing and clogging the fountains with sand. Arrive early to really enjoy this place because it gets crowded quickly. There is 2 hour parking on the streets, but of course limited space. The 63 bus stops there too...enjoy! read more

What's not to love about the promonade w view of manhattan, brooklyn bridge and kayaks on summer time! it's bike, walk and kids friendly. it's still pretty clean last time I went. if you get tired of walking, stop by brooklyn bridge wine bar (it's actually cafe like w outdoor seating more than a wine bar), or if you're hungry, check out brooklyn flea market on the other side by the bridge for some gourmet food or small bites during summer time! and if you're craving for sweet, brooklyn ice cream factory is around the corner! read more

The best part of this park is the views of Manhattan of course. I like sitting on the benches and looking out to the East river/skyline. The volleyball courts are very nice, the bathrooms are nice and clean I am actually not afraid to go in there like in other parks around NYC, nice but sometimes crowded water park, can catch the free ferry to Governor's Island and they have a hot dog spot called Bark which is on top of the same building where the bathrooms are located. I used Pier 6 to get to Governors Island. The ferry cost $2, where as before it used to be free. The staff working the gate are very friendly and efficient. The piers have recently been remodeled and they look awesome! I look forward to going there again to enjoy the other amenities. Only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the walk is really long. Which also depends on which train you're coming from. read more
