Volleyball with a view
Hannah H.

Pier six has some of the best stuff, especially in summer. There are gated playgrounds and water areas for the littles, volleyball courts, Fornino Pizza, and you even have super easy access to Ample Hills that's over on pier five. Fun Tips/Notes: -Volleyball courts fill up FAST on Saturday mornings. Get there before 8am. -Lots of green spaces to sit but the pier is also lined with benches. -Boat on the north side of the pier is a restaurant and bar. Grab drinks while floating on the water! -Fornino's rooftop seating has some of the best, unencumbered views of the city skyline. *swoons* Enjoy your trip to pier 6. It's well worth it!

Splash Pad

Loving this new Splash pad installation for children at Pier six. With a modern design to water sprinklers and man made water tunnels, it gives kids ample space to run around and enjoy themselves. Changing area is actually around the corner to Forino Restaurant, and lines are pretty long (make sure to come early). Pad has a soft cushioned floor one of the great benefits of this splash area. With any kids play areas parents are to follow closely behind to ensure safety. Walking up the second level there are more hands on water contraptions that children can play with. There aren't many areas for adults to sit and watch; so best bet is to walk and follow behind your own kid. Would definitely come back again for the wonderfully design Splash pad. Way to Go Brooklyn Bridge Park!

Beautiful place to spend some time and watch the world go by. I'll bring the family and spend some time. Nice place for a picnic and a game of frisbee. After dark you have a nice view of Manhattan.

One of the best swing parks in NYC. The pier is divided into two sections. The part closest to the water has small hills and thick tree and shrubs planted to create private space. The half closest to Columbia Street has an awesome swing park for the kids.

Great water area for 90°plus days. For kids 5-12... No supervisors... everybody is cooling down.

Great place to come for volleyball on sand. I believe it has at least three courts. The rules are very lax and the people are not hogs. If you want to play they honor the 1 hour maximum rule and let you play. My friend and I came for volleyball for doubles and there were teams who were open into playing you regardless of your level. Of course, it is preferable to be at higher level because you want to play longer and multiple games. Anyways, we got beat very badly multiple times... : (

Undoubtedly the best view of lower Manhattan! Pier 6 is typically much less crowded than the start of Brooklyn Bridge Park. Everyone tends to take their pictures closer to the bridge, over by Dumbo. I would recommend coming down here instead!

Nice city view!

This park is legit. I came here on a beautiful day in late September. Nice soccer pitch, beach volleyball courts, and gorgeous city views. The whole area is nice and on a day with nice weather it is a great place to bike or walk. I can't wait until I visit next year and get some BBQ action and chilling on a nice September day! You can just sit and chill and enjoy the park, the view and people watch. Cost = $0.

Inside "slide mountain"

Pier 6 is a full morning of activities for adults and children alike! With sand volleyball courts, running trails, a coffee/food shop and tons of mini play-parks (slide mountain, a sand pit area, splash pad and swings), your kids will be entertained for hours. Easily walkable/scooter-able from Crown Heights neighborhood or closer with all the sidewalks. Plus, you're right on the water, with views of the Business District across the way and of course the Statue of Liberty, but at the same time, you can completely surround yourself with the jungle of trees, feeling like you're possibly miles from any city! This is the perfect spot for a morning with the kiddos, picnic with your S.O., putting in those miles on your legs or just an afternoon with friends. Plus, you really can't miss the views of Manhattan, they are truly breath-taking: seeing the city but being in an urban oasis.

Clean but needs cleaner bathrooms! BTW, there's no parking after 1AM along the lines of the volleyball courts. WHYYYYYYYY?

Central Park may be in a more convenient location for tourists, but Prospect Park is a divine place to explore, with plenty of twists and turns, and what the heck is that? Lots to look at! The other thing I liked was that we found free on-street parking right across the street on Ocean Avenue. Amazingly we also found parking right by Central Park as well. (This trip was a superb driving one) Even hanging out in the van, having a cold one at the parking spot was a fun experience. There's even a cafe in the middle of the park that is super nice! Worth seeking out when visiting Brooklyn.

I do prefer weekday visits myself. The walking/bike paths are a great way to see the park in its entirety. Plenty of green space for a picnic, playing frisbee, etc. Playground and splash pads as well. Of course, I can't forget the lake with all of the ducks splashing about. It's really a wonderful way to spend a day in Brooklyn, getting away from it all.

Looked more like a museum or some nice walkway to enjoy sightseeing of the Williamsburg bridge and the lower east side views of Manhattan, which is not that spectacular in my opinion because there are too many government buildings in that section so it's all brown over on the Manhattan side. Oh wells. Other than that, I'm shocked to see nice bathrooms a block away from the park for Domino Park guests! The bathrooms were really nice and modern! Each bathroom had dimmed lighting with a baby diaper changing station. One of the bathrooms was dirty with pee on the floor so I had to go to another one. Did not expect these nice bathrooms to get dirty like that! There were more bathrooms downstairs besides the ones on the first floor. The door to the bathrooms was very nice too! What a great job they did to this park. I cannot believe the Domino sugar factory still exists or is standing because I used to take the train and they be doing construction for many years for I don't know what reason. Looked like they turn downstairs into this nice modern park. So I went to the park to go to a Target pop up and got some nice freebies. There was enough space for pop ups and large crowds. Need to check out the rest of the park next time I'm here. Too bad there is no subway or trains going to this park and you need to resort to buses that take forever to arrive.
