I signed up for a "free" 6-week challenge that had been advertised on Facebook. I chose the…read moremembership option ($270 upfront, $180 after the challenge) versus paying $599 upfront for the challenge. I chose the membership option because I was hopeful my work would allow me to actively make time for the gym. Unfortunately, I just wasn't able to complete it do to some changes in my work schedule. Let me just say the workouts, coaches, and people are very friendly. The 6-week challenge meal plan is limited, making it incredibly hard to follow. This comes from someone who is pretty easy-going about meal options and has done low-card, calorie counting, Keto, and a few other meal lifestyles successfully. There's apparently a new meal prep guide with a larger option for foods, but it came out after I started so I don't know much about it. They don't have a copier, so I took a photo of the contract, which is neither here nor there, but more a friendly note to snap a photo or you won't have something to refer back to. They do require you to sign a photo release to join, which really isn't something I was interested in doing, but had already signed up before being told about the release. You're also required to friend the owners, Sol and Amy, on social media and follow the gym. (Funny enough, my EFT just processed for the current month, my last, and I noticed one already unfriended me. I guess that means we can't be friends if my membership during/after my notice. ‍) It's alright. I wasn't thrilled by the idea anyway. Friending them does allow membership in a secret group of other members and one of other challengers. I can't fairly review the gym or the workouts other than saying I would have at least continued to complete the challenge had work not interfered. It is a great workout. You go at your own pace (kind of). Coaches are eager to help (and encouraging) so you don't feel like the new kid. I enjoyed it! My biggest frustration regarding the challenge specifically is there isn't really a good option to just try the challenge. Being asked to pay $600 for a "free" campaign is a lot of money to try something out. When opting for the more price efficient option you're locked into more than 6 weeks because of the misleading 30 day policy unless you cancel after your very first foundations class. The policy states: "Once payment is received on an EFT membership there are no refunds under any circumstances. 30 day written notice is required to cancel an EFT membership. Any payments that fall within that 30 days must be satisfied." MOST IMPORTANTLY: Unless you give notice on the 1st day of the month in a 31 day month, you will be paying for more than 30 days after giving notice. If notice is given on the 2nd or any time after, you'll be billed for the remainder of the current month and then your 30 days. Again, there is no way out of getting locked into a second month automatically when trying the challenge. In my case, I gave written notice just over two weeks after starting, but I paid for an additional month was still due. All in all, I paid $460 for 14 days of foundations classes and 5 days of actual workouts.

By the time I found Soloman I was a mess. Loss of strength, limited mobility and range of motion and daily pain. Not to mention the fear of injuring myself even more. He worked with me for a long time to help regain my mobility and range of motion then we started on strength, it was a special day when he told me we didn't need one-on-one anymore and I could attend the group classes. I still require modification for most everything but he never fails to kick my butt and push me beyond my fears. I love this guy!

On the same day that they approved my "medical furlough" (putting my membership on hold while I was unable to workout), they charged me for a full month of membership, $169. My partner was also out on a medical furlough. When at the end of my furlough, my partner was still unable to return to the gym, I decided to end my membership. I called to cancel, but got talked into keeping my membership on furlough until my partner was well enough to return. When after a couple of months my partner was still out on medical furlough, we both decided to cancel our memberships. When I called to cancel, I pointed out that I had already been charged for an entire month that I could not use and had no intention of coming back to the gym. The owner, Stephanie, told me she required a "final payment" of an additional $169 along with a song and dance about how I could continue to use the gym until such and such a date, completely ignoring me when I told her that I had no intention of coming back to the gym. Think twice before committing to a membership here. It will cost you big bucks to get out of it. It's unfortunate because the instructors are great and really seem to care. Ownership is not and does not.

I'm normally an Orangetheory girlie, and have done CycleBar for years, but today I couldn't muster energy for a full 45 minutes of cycle or hour-long treads and weight floor. Spenga had the solution- only 20 min. of spin, 20 min. of strength (I won't hold it against them that it was leg day and I was trying to avoid that), and 20 minutes of yoga. It was impossible to get bored, and I feel refreshed! Added bonus: lovely taking class from Gabrielle, and chatting with her and Emily after class about Dunkin' and all things East Coast. Tip: Be sure to arrive 30 minutes before your first class or you WILL be lost and/or turned away.

First off, Fitwall classes are designed to give you a full body workout in 40 minutes. I have found that I sign up by my instructors as they are typically the same for each class by the day. The classes cycle through a 3 week process that gets gradually tougher each week. Mondays - Friday classes en corporate strength, cardio and flexibility. Mondays are the most strength and weight focused, and each day gradually includes more cardio until you get to the Friday class which is 90% cardio and the perfect burner you need before the weekend. While you get to know and learn all the instructors different routines, Drew and Alyssa have been my go to from day 1. Drew and Hannah always have incredible insight into the kinesiology behind your moves and while all the coaches love to push the class to achieve the most from your workouts, these two specifically always provide perfect recommendations for anyone with pain points and their modifications make sure that you are staying inline with the rest of the classes exercises. Huge shout out to Alyssa and Amanda who are remarkable as well, they exemplify the all around continuous motivation. Exactly what you will need by the 30 minute mark of each class! I love how clean and well kept the gym is, as well as the dependable communication of this team. I started going to Fitwall during Covid, and last winter had a number of scares. The team was amazing at making sure everyone was staying safe and that the gym was aware of any issue or possible outbreaks as we all adjusted to the new normal.

I've learned that what Katie and Chris offer at the Sloans Lake and RINO F45 sites is really really special. Not only do her trainers seriously rock as authentic, motivating and caring people (literally every single one of them - Tristan, Nisha, Kenzie, Jocelyn, Jess, Gabby, Anna, Zack) but they go above-and-beyond to ensure they take care of you before, during and AFTER the workouts. Case in point - they take at least 5 min of careful guided stretching after the workouts to make sure you don't accidentally injure yourself. They also ALWAYS have alternative modified moves in case you have an existing injury. I took this hands on support for granted because I was spoiled at Sloans Lake and recognized this serious differentiator while visiting other sites that didn't have that level of support. (If I sound like I am enamored, it is because I definitely am. :)

The only good part is you get paid decently. But the "management" is chaotically disorganized, dishonest, and ultimately horrific. They fail to staff their facilities well if at all most time and will completely disregard your availability. As a former lifeguard, we don't want to be like this either. If we don't kick guests out of lap for not swimming laps, or take our eyes off the water to make sure your crying son is okay, we get punished. Blame management not the guards, we're just as annoyed as you. This facility is also incredibly dirty, as they only allow 30 minutes of cleaning. The water, floors, and overall facility is disgusting. Senior guards 99% of the time don't help, and don't enforce cleaning on the guards either.
