We approached different companies about service and repair; one tech, Sebastian of Reiss Air Conditioning, shined in explaining the challenges of our old system and nursing it through three summers. This summer it would give out, so we asked Reiss for some solutions. They came up with a plan to replace the AC unit and update the old duct distribution system. Such a project would also require installing a new electrical panel, to replace the original. We can report that the project is completed and we couldn't be more satisfied in the work. What made a challenging project attainable? The expertise and customer focus of the Reiss crew. First, every Reiss tech -- Antonio, Phoenix, Marcus, Pablo and Marco -- was professional, on time, conscientious and patient. We set appointments and were reminded the day before and day of. Each respected our home and our time. Second, Jedi and Zane completed the switch to the new electrical box without a problem. They identified unlabeled connections and finished the project with clean tags for each appliance and location. Third, Brian and Stephen at the Reiss main office worked with us on the specs of the project, available discounts, comparable substitutions and problem-solving. They were responsive and straightforward. This was a month-long initiative due to permits, etc. but Reiss led every step of the way. And we were without AC for only half of one day. Finding a trusted partner for crucial home projects can be daunting; we recommend Reiss and the team that served us wholeheartedly.

About two months later, our fan motor failed, and PlumbSmart returned to replace it and other parts. We were without AC for more than 24 hours, and the temperature inside our home reached 90°F. During a plumbing tune-up, a technician drained our water heater but did not bleed the hot water recirculation loop afterward. The pump began pushing air, and hot water at our taps went from nearly immediate to significantly delayed. We spent several hours identifying and fixing the issue ourselves. These are two examples of problems we've experienced only in the past 6 months; there have been others over the years. Derek F (HVAC) has consistently done excellent work, but the quality of service from PlumbSmart as a whole has been too inconsistent for us to use or recommend them to anyone.

He did not have the Hydro machine on his van and arranged for other technicians to be out at 8am the next morning. 2 great guys in 2 vehicles and a trailer showed up at 8. They tried less expensive methods first and were able to remove a core from the pipe about the size of a Hot Dog. They were here a couple hours, cleaned everything up as best they could, and charged us $800.00 LESS than the original Hydro Cleaning quote. We will call this company first for Plumbing and Air work from now on.

We faithfully paid for and completed these twice-yearly maintenance visits from 2017 through 2025. On June 2, 2025, Rescue One Air performed one of our scheduled tune-ups. At the time, the unit was making a loud squealing noise. The technician completed the inspection covered under our maintenance plan and told us he found no concerns with the unit or the attic equipment. He needed additional parts to fix the squealing issue, so a follow-up appointment was scheduled for June 5, when the repair was completed. On the morning of June 7, 2025, our master bedroom closet ceiling caved in. The drywall and insulation were soaked and moldy, and water continued dripping from the attic. I immediately called Rescue One Air, and they sent a technician within about two hours. The technician showed me a PVC pipe from the attic AC equipment that had no glue or sealant on the connection. He explained that the pipe had not been properly sealed and that it had been slowly leaking over time until the water-soaked insulation became heavy enough for the ceiling to collapse. After paying for Rescue One's maintenance program for nine years--and having the attic equipment inspected twice a year--we were shocked that this had never been identified. The technician told us the issue was Rescue One's responsibility, helped arrange for a remediation company to begin the cleanup and dry-out process, gave us his supervisor's email, and told us the company would reimburse our $1,000 homeowners insurance deductible. That never happened. The damage required insurance, professional remediation, ceiling replacement, insulation replacement, and weeks of repairs. After the repairs were completed, I left multiple voicemail messages and sent numerous emails. Rescue One Air never returned a single call or email. We paid for nine years of preventative maintenance because we believed it would help prevent exactly this kind of expensive property damage. Instead, after a ceiling collapse and significant water damage that their own technician said stemmed from an improperly sealed AC pipe, Rescue One stopped communicating with us entirely. That's what has been the most disappointing part of this experience.
