DETROIT PIZZA Tucked inside the tiny town of Redstone is a little piece of Michigan you need to experience. We're talking Detroit pizza. Usually, I'm a thin crust kind of gal, but Propaganda Pie's hearty, large, rectangular Carnivore Creation ($32) is awesome. Chow down on the light, airy crust with plenty of caramelized cheese, ham, bacon, pepperoni, sausage, and red sauce. Or ponder the other amusingly named choices: I'm Not a Crook, White Noise, etc. Add a large Caesar Salad ($14) to share. The romaine lettuce tastes like it has just been picked, the croutons are large, and the parmesan is artisanal - not that fake canned crap. Ice cold draft lagers make it all perfect. Indoors is cute and kitschy, but we sat outside to savor the view and the glorious weather. Love their sign: "We Do Not Have WIFI. Talk to each other... pretend it's 1995." We had ordered some pizzas and drinks right after a wedding rehearsal at Redstone Inn. Everything was great and the staff treated us right. The Detroit style was very delicious and a bit different than our usual Buffalo style pizza but great. Every one liked it. Also the owner was a Bills fan born in the buffalo suburbs and has an area for bills backers. Great place great owner very friendly and accommodating. Thanks for a good evening. read more

I definitely enjoy Detroit pizza, (native Michigander here), and have sampled a number of purveyors of the historic 'blue pan' crust in the state. (We do quite well on this front actually for being way over here in Colorado). But trust me when I say this was easily the best Detroit pizza I've ever had...anywhere. The caramelized cheese crust was pure crispy perfection. Even my fellow aficionados were drooling over my photo proof. I think that's probably all you need to know--if you're nearby you should just go. That's all there is to it. But I will mention there were beautifully large cookies and brownies too, and a good selection of draft beer and fun fountain drinks. They had live music outside when I went (August), there was also nice seating near the river and some yard games to entertain. Total experience situation for sure. read more

So glad i came across this location! We found this great little bar in Redstone, right next our AirBnb. The food was tasty and the service was friendly and laid-back. This place is a must when traveling on 133 through Redstone. Delicious, cheesy Detroit style pizza. Really you can't go wrong with anything on the menu in my opinion. 2 slices was plenty for me!Takes awhile to get your order, but they have a great atmosphere so you barely notice the wait. Did not see the Yelp reviews before stumbling upon this place after stopping for a bit in Redstone after a fun-filled day at Big Bs in Paonia. Glad we found this gem on the main road into town. Don't blink or you'll miss it! Detroit Style pie in CO??!! It is so good and a taste of home. Staff are friendly, fun, and always helpful. The bartender is always fun, even on busy nights. Everything we have tried is excellent. Do yourself a favor and try the "BBQ Bandwagon". The burnt ends are from Slow Groovin' BBQ in Marble, CO, a local legend and also a must stop for great food. read more

YUM! Redstone is a small town and this place is a gem. It's huge on the inside with a bar, we just placed an order to go. The what the health hummus plate is totally worth it with lots of veggies to dip! We got the manifest Destiny, a small which was plenty of food for too of us. We also got a side salad! I love this place with my whole entire heart. Every time I come to Redstone I get a pizza here. So freakin good. If you like your crust made out of cheese.. jalapeños, cilantro, pineapple, and ham.. get the fricken Pearl Harbor.. I crave this thing. We asked some of the local people in Glenwood Springs where to go for a unique getaway and they said Redstone and Propaganda Pies. This is definitely a hidden gem in a tiny town of 92 people. It was a little bit of waiting to get the pies and wings but certainly well worth it. You knew that they were made from scratch and well cared for. The wings came out with a great sauce and were nice and crispy. The pizza was excellent with very fresh toppings. You could tell it was certainly made from scratch. Very filling. The location has excellent indoor and outdoor seating, and is directly in front of the river. A very awesome little stop for your adventures. read more

Not only was I blown away by the service, hospitality, and setting- the pizza blew me away. Off the beaten path you can find Detroit style pizza at Propaganda pizza. We were placing an order to go and because we were meeting other people we considered ordering the pick 2 (2 pizzas and a salad). The problem is that option only allows one to pick from their "designer pizzas", we could not pick our own toppings (for the pick 2), if you are ordering 1 pizza you are free to choose your own toppings. Not at all sure why they insist on this for the pick 2? We ultimately did get 2 pizzas without the salad which would have come with the pick 2. I think it actually was cheaper this way even with factoring in the price of the pizza (buyer beware, the pick 2 is no deal). Anyway, we waited an entire hour for our pizza. Oddly enough we ran into friends while waiting and talked for the full hour so the time flew, but, hungry diner beware. The flavor and texture was just ok but it was kind of a sloppy mess. Though I want to like it I don't think I'd rush back. All 3 stars go to the guy (name may have been King) that was working there, he was hilarious. read more

Absolutely LEGIT! This is some of the best Detroit style pizza we have ever eaten. We were rained out camping and a friend suggested this spot (he's from Michigan, so knows his DSP.) We were more than pleasantly surprised by how good it was. I had the "I'm Not Crook," which was perfection. The sweet cherry peppers complimented with the arugula was right up my alley. We also tried the "Pearl Harbor", the jalapeño with cilantro on it made it super fresh. The dough is so flavorful and do yourself a favor and order the small 4 square pizzas, then every slice is a super crispy cheesy corner piece. The building itself has a cool vibe and it is right on the Crystal River with amazing views and tons of outdoor seating. We met the owner who is so kind and thoughtful. We love supporting local businesses and loved hearing how she and the people of Redstone support and help each other out. What a gem of a town to poke around in too, absolutely stunning. Looking forward to returning for more delicious pies, will be a good excuse for a day trip to Redstone. read more

Me and my family have traveled all around the US and have NEVER had an experience like this. We decided to stop in this little town with limited parking for travel trailers so we parked in this restaurants huge parking lot so we could shop first before we came in and ate so we didn't block traffic or any buildings. After visiting the shops for about 20 minutes and donating to the little museum, we went back to the car to let the dogs out before going in to eat. Out of nowhere the lady comes out and makes the rudest remark telling us "if y'all aren't going to come in and eat, then leave." There was only 1 other car in the parking lot so it's not like we were in the way. After this, we didn't want to support this business so we left. Due to no other parking in the town for our trailer we had to leave the town and miss some of the shops and had to find a new place to stay for our family of 4. Very disappointing. read more

I usually hate thick-crust pizza and avoid it like the plague. What I don't like about it is that I feel like I'm just eating a big pile of bread, and that bread is blocking me from tasting the cheese and sauce. I tried the pizza at Propaganda because I was in the area, and there aren't many other dining options. Their pizza was great. They know exactly what to do to make a thick-crust pizza work: The sauce is strongly flavored so that you can taste it through the crust. In addition, the cheese on the sides gets nicely crispy so it doesn't all just feel like mushy dough. There's also a full bar, and if weather allows, there are tables out back where you can look at the river when eating. I can't think of anything that could have been improved. read more

We stopped in not realizing it was Detroit style pizza - our fault there's a massive sign on the side wall that we missed before going in. Detroit is def not our favorite but that's not worthy of a bad review so I'll just say if you love a good deep dish you're in for a treat. Found this place by driving by, complete accident. I personally like thick pizza and was not disappointed. My wife and I had an 8 slice pizza and only ate half. We also ordered a Sis of Mozzarella sticks, probably the best we ever had. Place was very clean, including the restrooms. Would definitely eat here again. read more

If you do a take home....Guaranteed you will eat it in the parking lot....after having 4 pizzas so far... each time they were perfect.
