I'm not surprised that this is a BW review. I *am* surprised at all the other raving reviews below. I was confused and put off from the minute I walked through the door until the time I left. I can only imagine that The Gulch has sticking power. I don't hang out there often but I must be an outlier. Earlier that evening, I was at another rooftop bar that had room to breathe. Proof was standing room only. I didn't understand. The music was loud (and fairly obnoxious). I was hard to turn around. Seating (or, standing to be fair) was hard to come by. And the people just kept coming. From the rude bouncer/doorman to the ruder server, I was utterly flummoxed by what I was experiencing and the fact that so many people seemed to be into it. The crowd vibe was off as well. I was bumped into three times. Propositioned once. Cackled at a handful of times. As soon as I ordered my drink I was told to pay immediately (before I received the drink). Granted, there was no way I was opening a tab but the chain of events was a first (in my long, storied history of drinking at bars/clubs). By the time a drunk sad girl™ asked to share my high boy I was ready to go. Forever. View was decent. There are better in town. Heck, there are better in The Gulch. read more

Nice lively rooftop bar. Limited menu, with a few drinks and several selections of wine/beer. Food menu small, I had the smash burger and fries. The fries were crispy, but could have used some seasoning. The burger was hot and cheesy (but please, when will the smash burger trend end and we can start ordering temperatures again?!). Cory was my bartender and I had him make me custom drinks all night. I had a gin drink with jalapeño. Though I'm over the jalapeño trend, he made it with subtle, which was much appreciated. He also made me a couple buffalo trace drinks, just the right amount of sweet and bitter. And I finished with another easy to down gin concoction. The views (for Nashville) are great. Panoramic and you can see the bat tower and all the lights. Lots of different types of seating, including outdoor chairs and couches, high tops, and bar seats. I started out with four stars because I've been to better . . . but I did have a great experience here and Cory seemed happy to make me interesting off the menu drinks, so five stars it is. read more

This is a great night time hangout. It is the W hotels roof top bar and has spectacular views of the city of Nashville. It is a must see for visitors to the city. They have great outside seating with full service. The cocktails were well made and they also serve beer and wine. I have not tried the food as there is so much to do in Nashville I go for the cocktails and the view. I have been on nights where they had a DJ and found it to be very loud. As it is in the Gulch it is close to many restaurants and bars. So stop on by for a couple of drinks and the view before you hit the city. read more

I was able to attend a special brunch event at Proof one morning. Although, the food I ate isn't always available to the public, the chef was impeccable. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive and I was pleasantly surprised with all the excellent views within the space. I loveee a good rooftop and thought it was epic to see everything during the day. read more

Came here for GNO and to check out Proof's HH. The rooftop is really nice with a good view. We had the best bartender. He was really nice and had the best personality, I wish I remembered his name. I ordered a gimlet which was delicious. I read mixed reviews on the food, but our food was really good. I ordered the wings , not spicy but very flavorful, and I ordered the truffle fries. My friend wanted a dessert, they didn't have dessert, but when the restaurant downstairs opened, he allowed her to order from that menu which was really nice of him. I will definitely be back! Parking: park in parking lot across from hotel, a lot more inexpensive than valet. I was told they don't validate at Proof. read more

Rooftop bar hopping is always fun with family and friends. The proof is located inside the W Nashville Hotel on the 13th floor. We were immediately carded exiting the elevator, so 21 and up. The ambiance was quiet and comfortable--lots of indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered drinks, but unfortunately, they were not good. I love the decor and wall art. This is a bar on the roof of W Hotel with outstanding views. We mainly ordered drinks and a couple of appetizers and took in the evening sky as the sunset. It was very beautiful and the drinks and food, service and ambiance were all excellent. Recommend! read more

Came here on a Monday night. The only saving grace for this place is that the food is actually good. The drinks are terrible. Watered down, very sugary. Service is absolutely awful. It took forever for someone to come take our orders, food got mixed up, server never came to check on us, we had no napkins or silverware, and it even took them forever to bring us the check. They were not even busy. The people next to us got so frustrated they cancelled their order and left. Absolutely awful experience. read more

Five stars for the drinks; three for the atmosphere. It was dark The drinks were great. Love that they use big ice, bartender was super nice. I'm not sure why it was so dark. Hard to read the menus dark. I get the idea of candle light as creating ambiance but might be a little too much. Nicer than most hotel bars with a lot of places to sit. read more

Proof is a beautiful space at the top of the W hotel. We came on a Saturday evening around 5 and luckily didn't have to wait! We were at a table and we had a server. Unfortunately it took a while to get our drinks. I got a mock tail because I'm doing dry january and sadly it wasn't that great. My friends mostly enjoyed their drinks! The valet parking is super expensive but I parked in a lot nearby that was about $11 for 4 hours. Also the signs for the bathrooms are really hard to read lol read more

Absolutely loved it! We went here for my daughter's birthday, it was a great stop on our night out! The oysters were delicious, wish there had been more, the girls said the wings were delicious along with the cocktail! The staff were attentive to our needs and always checking to see if we needed anything! The atmosphere was amazing, walking out on the patio and seeing the city lights, plenty of seating and a couple igloo's. They had heaters out there to keep you warm however the wind was blowing so we chose to sit inside! Would definitely go back here! read more

There are so many bars in Nashville with good bartenders, that these watered out sugary drinks has no value at all. Please go to L.A. Jackson at Thompson Hotel instead. Bailie was absolutely awful. Overcharged and schemed her way to get a better tip, which backfired after her rudeness and bitter tone towards us when our friends card didn't go through (yes she had enough money). We also had a $15 hold on our card to set up the tab that Bailie demanded we gave a card at the beginning of her service. She never came back to us after dropping off our drinks btw. We had to go find her at a pos station to ask for the tabs. So yah service was garbage. Keep in mind bailie uncharged the espresso martini without asking which vodka was wanted. So after paying $24 for just a half filled espresso martini, my friend decided she was done drinking which I couldn't blame her. Disgusting and scammy. Which is sad because we've loved this place until bailie ruined it for us. read more

Nothing special about the drinks here. Location and view is cool and all but I'd be just as content grabbing a drink just about anywhere else. Staff can't seem to be on the same page about anything and the bartender with the bowl cut in particular is a diva who thinks his sh*t doesn't stink. Won't be returning. Went to Proof for a late evening cocktail with it being one of my gf and I favorite roof top spots. We had the bartender named Scott P. When my girlfriend respectfully asked if he could make a gin fizz cocktail. His response, "I'm not making a 15 minute cocktail tonight" The bar was basically empty so it was a shocking response. We are both in the industry and realize that gin fizz doesn't need to take 15 minutes but understood and said oh you don't need to shake it that long and he goes, "ummm yes I do" with a ton of attitude and negative energy. You would think a hip roof top bar in Nashville would be able to make a gin fizz or something along those lines. The attitude and ego of this bartender will be a reason we never will order a cocktail from him again, looks like he only works lame nights like Mondays anyways! Go figure! read more

I had the worst experience. Decided to get out with a friend for my birthday this past weekend and wanted a chill vibe with a good view. The first time we visited Proof it was around 10:30pm and the kitchen was closed so only order a drink and left to a place that was still serving food . The first time we went we sat at the bar and was recognized, but took 20 mins just to get our drink order. The shot of strawberry margarita tasted good but for $30 it was definitely not worth it. Once again did not get to try the food. Fast forward to last night .. our flight came in time so decided to check out Proof again at much earlier time. Biggest mistake. Where do I start? Well first let's say if you are a colored person YOU ARE NOT WELCOME. It is 2024 and the way my friend and I was treated was extremely disrespectful. AS SOON as we sit down security comes over to ask "Of all places why did y'all come here" FIRST WORDS that they have with us it's to question our attendance???? While I was looking at the menu my friend was being professional and kept general conversation, but then we was feeling uncomfortable when another security guard came over just to question us as well. Thank goodness the waitress came and broke the conversation. Ordered a drink and the brisket nachos.. the nachos was A MESS and already cold. Of course barley any meat on them. I was trying to savage what I could eat of it but my friend was not impressed at all. We eventually ended asking to trade it out for something else. You guess it .. got questioned and looked at like we was crazy. Also the menu shows a different price but after the night went they probably was charging extra just because we are African American. Had to ask multiple servers about where my drink was and then after eating half my food and being charged for it the waitress asks "do you still want your drink?". I was charged almost $20 for a drink .. yes I want my drink. Now let's talk about how the managers and security kept peeping around the wall looking at us as if we was going to run off on the tab EVEN THOUGH WHEN WE ORDERD we place a card on file. They was not attentive to serving us.. just looking. Had to ask other servers for help. The manger never apologize about they crap of service we was having. They also kept charging our card. At the end of the night I had only ordered $40 worth of food but where they kept charging my card I ended up running it for $150. Money is not a issue for us but that was absurd. As a business owner who looks for different spots around the city to meet clients at, this place would NEVER be recommended. The whole experience was extremely disappointing. read more
