I've been a cherries fan my whole life. In true millennial fashion, I decked out my first car and flip phone with cherry decor (insert nerd emoji)! I also just got back from a trip to Michigan where I enjoyed all kinds of cherry-flavored treats from Cherry Republic. I say all this to preface my review by admitting I might be a bit of a cherry snob. So when I heard about Cherries in East, I was genuinely thrilled. I pictured a cherry-forward cocktail bar filled with a full list of creative drinks that celebrated cherries. Unfortunately, that isn't what J experienced. To be fair, the space is absolutely gorgeous. The moody red lighting, lush greenery, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating creates a very decadent vibe. It's the kind of place you want to fall in love with. But I was honestly surprised by how few cherry-themed options were on the menu. I ordered the one cocktail with cherry in the name, the Buck Cherry, and had it made with Four Roses after a great chat with the bartender. It was light, flavorful, and refreshing. My only disappointment was the garnish - a basic maraschino cherry. For a bar called Cherries, I had hoped for something a little more special. A Luxardo, a Woodford Reserve, or even the Amarena cherries from Trader Joe's would have added a touch of richness and intention. Instead, it felt like something I'd get at a chain restaurant. If you're going for ambiance and aesthetic alone, this place delivers. But if you're hoping for a true cherry-themed experience, you might leave a little underwhelmed, like I did. Stopped here for their happy hour since they are the only late night happy hour spot I know of in Nashville & I was not disappointed. The drink specials are great I just wish they had more food for their happy hour menu but it is a bar so food isn't their main concern. This place quickly became one of my favorite girls night out cocktail bars. I love it because it's not in the middle of the hustle and craziness of downtown and Broadway. Cherries has a cool and chill vibe and is a great addition to this side of town. I really liked the patio, there's a covered patio and an open patio. Also indoor seating. Lots of space and tables were spread out. Good for a large party. I wanted to get the frozen passion coquito but they didn't have it and instead had a frozen cherry drink (hence the name of the place haha) and that was pretty good and refreshing. Normally I'm not a huge Cherry flavor person but this was really good. Food was okay, I'd probably skip the food and just get drinks and chill. What a vibey new bar off of Dickerson Pike! I was so excited to check out this cute spot on the edge of East Nashville, and I can definitely see myself returning again soon. My husband and I stopped in around 6 p.m. on a Thursday, right as their happy hour was ending. I'm definitely noting this for next time - because their drink and food specials sounded great, and run from 4 - 6 p.m. on weekdays. The interior is beautiful and intimate - with low, red-tinted lighting and lots of viney plants, comfy couches, and unique decor. The music was fun and full of throwback pop hits - albeit a bit loud right near the bar. I love that much of the menu embraces the theme of the bar with several cherry-flavored offerings. I ordered the "Buck Cherry," which kind of reminded me of a smokey, not-too-sweet Shirley Temple. My husband tried the "Say Goodbye to Summer," which he said he liked, but that it was just a bit too sweet for him. We also sampled some food - and especially enjoyed the Small Batch Guacamole. You could tell it was freshly made, and it paired well with the salty chips. We also ordered the Wood-Roasted BBQ Wings, and the Double Burger, both of which tasted fine, but were nothing to write home about. Cherries is just what the neighborhood needed! It has great cocktails, plants, a cherry red aesthetic, plenty of seating, and fire pits! I've been twice already and each time enjoyed my visit. The lot has plenty of parking, for the drivers out there. Both visits were midweek and we didn't have a problem finding a seat at the bar or on the couches. This is a perfect neighborhood establishment. It's also a wonderful stop after eating dinner in Cleveland Park. Don't know what to do after Redheaded Stranger, Xiao Bao, or Audrey? Head over to Cherries! I can't speak to the food as I've only had the guacamole, but the guac sure did hit when I needed it to. I'm looking forward to heading back and trying their food menu as well. It's a lounge buried in what seems to be a newly re-developing Dickerson PIke area. It doesn't seem like much from the outside but it's a cute place to have drinks and a small bite. Their drinks can get pricey but come for their Happy Hour from 4-6PM. Also I know they have DJ nights starting Thursdays, it's great to be getting more lounge/house/downtempo type DJs playing in town. Not everything is country!! Service is friendly but getting drinks always seem to take a while even though it's not crowded. Been a few times and will be in more especially when they weather cools down. Cherries is the latest opening for Amaranth Hospitality, which also operates 5 other spots throughout Nashville. Unassuming from the outside, but inside is a vibey cocktail lounge filled with plants, red lighting and industrial fixtures. They have a small dining room outfitted with a bar, a communal dining room and then an impressive outdoor patio. Service was ok, but a tad delayed. She did mention they have a small kitchen and limited bar staff, so we did appreciate her setting the tone and expectations up front. Their menu is outfitted with several cherry-themed items, particularly in the cocktail selection, adding a unique touch and call out to the name/theme. Our first experience here was for weekend brunch, and the menu was decent with a few sandwiches, breakfast plate, classic breakfast sides, cocktails, coffee and of course bottomless mimosas. Only catch with the bottomless mimosa was you had to enjoy all you could within 90 minutes. After scoping the menu for a few minutes, the "OMG Becky" breakfast sandwich caught majority of our tables eye. Classic breakfast sandwich on sourdough, featuring egg, cheese, and bacon, with the option to add avocado if desired. The sandwich itself was good, however the sourdough bread, which I am a huge fan of normally, was a good vessel for the food, but it was well done, which created a bit of a fight for a few bites. The potatoes were under-seasoned and a tad mushy. The char was nice, but the texture was a bit off-putting. My table mates had similar feedback relating to the bread and seasoning What is brunch without a cocktail? While none of us ventured into bottomless mimosa territory, three of us went with a Bloody Mary, 2 regular and 1 spicy, however they all came out spicy. We decided to push through, as wait time for cocktails was increasing, so we just sipped our bloody then followed it up with water. Cherries is a cool add to the neighborhood. Still some work to do on the food execution, but it is still new and we are hopeful those are growing pains. The space is great, parking lot is plentiful and the vibe is classic East Nashville. I was so excited to try the new trendy bar- cherries. I really liked the inside decor. It was a bit cold out when I went so the patio wasn't open, but I have a feeling this will be a hit in the summer time. We sat in the second room towards the outside. It was very confusing- there was no host, no sign that said to seat yourself or to wait to be seated. After waiting we ended up just seating ourselves. When we tried to flag down the waitress to let her know that we had just sat down we noticed she was the only waitress for the entire place. We had gone here with a friend who was revisiting after moving away from Nashville. If you are wanting to talk this is not the place. The music is so loud we were screaming, not only that the entire establishment was screaming because nobody could hear eachother. We went on a thursday around 7:30 pm, maybe had we gone on a friday at 10pm it would have been more acceptable.
