Our GPS took us another route avoiding I-35 traffic and glad to have stumbled upon this place. This is a half liquor store and half deli, so you can shop around while your sandwich is being prepared. Upon entry, we were greeted with a warm smile and friendly service. I opted for the Angry Bird sandwich and it was tasty with the right amount of meat, cheese, and sauce! This liquor store has a deli inside and everything is absolutely delicious! You place your order at the counter and you can seat yourself. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I have ordered the Ruben Gonzales which is like a traditional Ruben. I have also had the pecan chicken salad sandwich, you always get a pickle and home style chips with your order. They also have deli snacks such as potato salad, pasta salad and hummus. The people running the store are absolute gems! They are so sweet and enthusiastic about the menu. Sneaking back into Yelp like........can't believe I have never reviewed this place. Seriously, some good places have suffered from my Yelp retirement. I LOVE telling my co-workers "Gotta run to the liquor store for lunch, brb". I love even more the actual lunch, their sandwiches are redick good and I take all of my out of town guests here for the same experience. Let's run to the liquor store for lunch! No one expects the deliciousness they are about to receive. My go-to sammie is the Angry Bird (hold the angry--not a fan of dijon). It is chock full of turkey, melty swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms, greenery and their signature semi sweet pickles. But when feeling "healthy" I also love the Athena which has cukes and spinach and kalamatas and other tasty veggies and you can add turkey or ham if you're a carnivore. All sammies come with a little bag of plain potato chips (perfect for stacking in your sammie) and a really tasty dill pickle slice. I love that I can call and pre order and it is ready by the time I make the 12 minute drive there. I love that it is almost always the same nice lady taking my calls and checking me out. OMG! Finally a Deli Sandwich I can be proud of IN BUDA! Just survived a trip to my primary care physician's office, on my way to Chinese food when I realized there is a deli hiding in the liquor store!!!! I don't really frequent liquor store so I can only say there have allot of choices, but their short sandwich menu packs a great punch! Turkey, roast beef or veggies/hummus sandwiches plus chips and a pickle! (I ordered a Dolly Llama-multi grain!) There's some HOT sandwiches also!!! Of course any drink you want is available- I had basic tea: and I couldn't even see the bottom of the cup the tea was good! There's a limited menu but all I want is on it. In fact I got another one (Angry Byrd-Kaiser Roll) for my hair stylist-my next stop today. But I withheld that last star because I got the crushed chips from the bottom of the bag... I stopped in at Proof on 11/21/18 for lunch. Yelp yet again has not let me down. I needed a place that wasn't fast food but was quick. I searched Yelp and Proof came up. I arrived 30 mins. before their lunch hour began (which I didn't know until I read the hours on the door) and was pleasantly surprised when the women behind the counter was willing to put together a tuna melt for me. I was on a schedule so this little jester made a big difference. I enjoyed my sandwich and it tasted super fresh. Price was more than fair for the portion. I really liked the ambiance of Proof and having an eatery inside a liquor store only added to its ambiance. This is one of those places that actually deserve all the high star ratings giving to them. The Deli: the sandwiches are some of the best I've had anywhere, especially the grilled hot ones. Unique and tasty! They give a $1.50 off during the work week lunch hours. The sodas are unique too, using cane sugar. They also have salads, soups, empanadas, and specialty items. My only complaint is that the consistency of how well the sandwiches are made can fluctuate. For instance, the first time I had their Reuben Gonzales, it was amazing! A couple weeks later on a different day, it was under grilled and greasy. Still that was the only mishap I've had so far and I've had more than half of their sandwiches listed, all very tasty and filling. The Spirits: They have a wide selection of beers, wines, liquor, mixers, juices, sodas, and more unique items. They also sell a lot of single selections on many beers. The prices are on par with most places. Some items are a couple bucks more than some of the cheaper competitors yet other items are less. I, for one, like supporting local businesses and helping my community. This place is no less affordable than most with a convenient location. They also host wine & liquor tastings, plus you'll see they take pride in giving great customer service - very friendly and helpful staff. Come for the spirits, stay for the food.
