Stopped in for a simple burger last week. I am amazed how good their burgers are and fries too Normally I would get the Mama's Mix, but this time I went with a classic hamburger Cooked perfectly. Great fries and a good milkshake. What more do you need? read more

Definitely worth the wait! Meat is thick and delicious. Great options, served to perfection. Fries perfect, not overly salty with some skin still on. Bring yr appetite cuz it's large and in charge. read more

Been here a number of times. The food is outstanding, if pretty expensive. It's worth it for a gourmet burger but don't come here expecting $12-15 burgers. It's closer to $20+, and nearly $30 out the door per person with fries/sides and a drink. Again - worth it for the quality as long as that's what you're looking for. Where this place needs a lot of work is service. It is very slow. As best size I can tell, the owner is also the only cook. And also the cashier. Over the half dozen or so times I've been there, I have never once seen anyone but him working there. He moves smoothly between the front counter and back kitchen, but that makes it a very slow process to get your food. During my most recent visit last week, it took 28 minutes to get my food. I don't mind a little time, but 30 mins is getting to be a little much. I asked him in a quite friendly manner when he estimated it might be ready, noting it had been almost 30 minutes. He shrugged in a "well what am I supposed to do?" kind of a manner. I would suggest hiring some help. Great food, but they can improve the service a bit. read more

Dad and I were on vacation and wanted a quick bite before a tour and stopped in. First thing that popped out was you get a good size burger. Not only good size, the food was very good! I got the BLTA and my dad got the turkey burger; both were well worth the stop! Last thing I need to mention was the service, not sure if it was the owner himself or just the an employee but it couldn't have gotten better! Place got pretty busy with students and the gentlemen talked to each table multiple times. Would go in again when back in town! read more

Wagyu Burger was very good! First time trying wagyu beef. Tasty, but I actually prefer the taste of grass fed. Service and ambiance is always charming. Owner goes above and beyond. read more

This is my favorite burger, and better yet favorite burger spot as of yet. (And I've had a lot of burgers all over America) The flavor profile of this burger is perfectly ballanced given the stong nature of some of its key ingredients. I am very satisfied with the quality and love put into this food. The owner's name is Hassam and he's kind and got a good sense of humor always brightening up my day. He runs this place all my himself as of the time this review was written, and he's very good at what he does. read more

Project Burger - The Black & Blue!!! Blue cheese bacon and high quality beef on a bun! - American Near Me - Alameda, California

Place was closed on a Tuesday at 12:30pm. No reason posted. Hours on Yelp say they should be open. No hours that I saw near the entrance. Disappointing. read more

Juicy, tasty burger. Hand cut fries. creamy malt. All served with a smile. Best burger in town by a ways. Don't listen to or pay attention to the complaining about slow service or unreliable hours. Owner/chef/server all accomplished by one man. His food deserves a huge crowd. read more

Excellent burger - juicy meat patty, flavorful and fresh toppings. Really nicely composed - one of the best burgers I've had in a long while. Fries were solid as well. I gave this place a positive review before but hadn't been back. I'll be sure to come back again soon, as this was a good reminder that the burgers are delicious! I believe the chef and person who took our order was the owner. Very friendly guy. Ordered: grass fed beef burger with grilled onions, bacon, cheddar cheese. Hand cut fries. read more

This place is connected to the movie theater in downtown Alameda. It is a hybrid burger place and hang out sports bar with four taps (that I could count). We both had the black and blue burger with hand cut fries and a PBR beer. The burgers were big and juicy and tasted great. The fries were like mom used to make with the French fry cutter thingy. Very tasty if you like big fries. The prices were excellent for a big burger lIke these and the young gal who took our order couldn't have been nicer and helpful. read more

Project Burger - American Near Me - Alameda, California

Question: Is this burger better than Scolaris? Answer: YES. Why? The bun and meat are both crispy on the edges. The ingredients are fresh too BUT it's the hand cut fries that win this race. Scolaris are burnt and fried in old oil. Project Burger's are super fresh, fried the right length of time and the absolute best was the service. This is a centrally located place (next to the movie theater) and worth the visit. By the way, the owner is looking for help if you know of anyone looking for a job. Seems like a great summer gig for a student saving up for college. Owner is friendly and trying the absolute beat he can to deliver quick service. read more

Patty was good, but it was smother with aioli and the fries were 1.5/5, it wasn't worth $25 but have a good time eating here

Honest and great custom hamburger restaurant. The owner is fantastic. Support this business BTW portions are good size too ! Yummy !!!!!!!!! read more

Didn't know about this place but swung by and was amazingly surprised! This place is one of few that actually has hand cut fries cooked to perfection. We never had to ask for anything because the owner was ahead of us and super attentive. The burgers are phenomenal and the service was hands down the best! We will definitely be coming back and recommending this spot to others. read more

Project Burger - Epic fries and Kobe burger - American Near Me - Alameda, California

The burgers were excellent, only found at 5 stars hotel. The service was also thorough.

Best burger I have ever had. Stumbled across this place next to the Alameda theater and I always like to try a new independent burger place. Safe to say I have tried a lot of them. Absolutely amazing. If you are a burger fan, seriously go out of your way to try this place! read more

Tried Project Burger for the first time last week and was blown away. My partner and I tried a normal cheeseburger and the blue cheese burger, respectively, and both of us were very impressed. High quality meat cooked the way we asked, thick cut bacon, fresh vegetables, toasted buns...all the things you want in a burger, done well. We ordered our food for takeout and they've really thought through the process. They are careful to not box everything up tightly so it doesn't steam in the bag, they have little parchment paper "bun protectors" to keep your burger from soaking your bottom bun, and all of the burger toppings (lettuce, tomato, pickles, sauce) are included in a separate tray so it's not a soggy sauce-bomb when you get home! After a year and a half of ordering burgers to-go in the area, I've never seen anyone do this before! I was able to save half my burger for the next day, and the bread was still crispy. Also, while the fries weren't as crispy as I like them, they are skin-on, fresh, salty, and delicious. This is by no means a negative on Project Burger -- fry crispiness is as polarizing as whether or not to put pineapple on pizza -- next time I'll just ask for them to be well-done. Can't wait to come back here! read more

Perfect. Perfect burger, perfect bun, perfect fries. They are hitting all the key points and scoring big. (Don't you hate a place that makes a great burger, but their fries suck? Or they make a great burger, but the bun falls apart before you're even halfway through?) I am totally going back because this place does it right. Thank you, Mr. Jordanian guy who is doing the cooking in the back. You know your stuff! (Order the pickled turnips on the side folks, you can't go wrong.) Top quality, great taste, worth the extra bucks because BETTER is supposed to cost more, you cheapskates! Go here, taste real food. Enjoy! read more

Was really unexpected coming here and having one of the best burgers I've ever had. Top notch service and quality. You can tell the owner who takes the order and cooks puts a lot of love into the place. read more

Like a lot of people, I take my burgers pretty seriously. I love the full range: divey like Eli's ten or more years ago or Ben & Nick's today - Classic 50's like Al's Big Burger in Albany and Great American Burger & Pies in Pt. Richmond - and a bit fancy like Scolari's, that Triple Rock pepper burger, or some at Eureka. And there are so many I haven't tried out there. But I've tried Project Burger and I haven't stopped thinking about it. My family and I were strolling Alameda and went there on a whim. Nice little place with movie posters on the wall - thoughtful as it's near the movie theater. The first thing I noticed were the beer taps. Bonus for that. Then I realized there was one person working there. He poured the beers, he made the burgers, fries, everything... and served us. I'd like to think he is the owner and Bob from "Bob's Burgers" but his family wasn't in sight and he did it all. Like Bob, this guy is obviously passionate about burgers as they are cooked to perfection and so flavorful. I like my burger to be a bit seared and the classic medium-rare which should be mostly medium while retaining juice in the middle. He nailed it. These burgers tip toward the fancy side with brilliant accoutrements that all work together. The fries were also perfect and he threw in some special dipping sauces he whipped up that had a lot of garlic. It was fantastic. I should mention the burger was huge, approaching a half-pound cooked. Fancy, large and a fraction of the price of the other fancy places I mentioned. My family and I have brought this place up over a dozen times since and I've thought about it 3 times in the last week. We wanted to go back there last month but due to omicron surge, he was take-out only. My hope is that he is open for dining again now so we can get down there. Like another reviewer said, this place should be packed. It might be the best-kept secret at the moment, but that may change. Please support this guy and go there as soon as you can. You won't regret it. read more

Best burgers in Alameda. Hands down. The owner is incredible and attentive-- he takes good care of his customers. We love this spot and plan on returning when we are back in the area ! read more

I really loved the restaurant that previously occupied this space, so I was relieved that it was replaced with another burger joint. I stopped in for lunch after a movie. I really liked the environment (they didn't change everything, but they made the space their own). The service was friendly, and reasonably fast. My problem was the burger. It was severely under seasoned and just below-average-tasting. It tasted like it'd been frozen and, aside from being cooked to a proper medium, there was no care whatsoever put into the meal. Honestly, McDonalds is half the cost and tastes better. read more

The quality of the food is only exceeded by the kindness and ability of the chef. Seriously. The food is top notch, and hands down the best burger in the Bay Area. We love it, our kids love it, and when our dog somehow sneaks a fry, also loves it. The owner/chef, on top of that, is simply a wonderful human being. He always has a kind word, remembers us, and makes a point of ensuring the food is elevated. This is the kind of person and establishment that anchors a block. We try to go at least 3-4 times per month if our schedule allows it. It's that darn good. read more

I love this place! My boyfriend gets the Kobe beef burger and I get the crispy chicken sandwich. We also get large fries and Buffalo wings to share. All totaling out to about $50 but definitely worth it. Super delicious wings surprisingly and even better fries! I'm a huge fan of chicken sandwiches so I've tried a ton but this place is one of the best. Service is always good and the workers are very friendly! Give this place a try. It's definitely a hole in the wall. read more

I was introduced to this place by my client, pulled up, ample street side parking as well as a metered lot across the street. The owner is extremely kind and personable and takes your order. We had the Waygu Burger, comes with crispy onion straws and a wasabi aioli dressing, also great for dipping your fries. The burger itself was fantastic, juicy and a bit messy...that's when you know you have a great burger! If you're in the area, definitely need to make a stop here! You won't be disappointed! read more

Wow. The California burger was so goooooood. Food was great and service was even better. 10/10 recommend this place.

The food was just ok. Not as delicious as it looked in photos or other reviews let it out to be. The flavors didn't go perfectly together, combination of weren't right, just tasted homemade (not in a good way.) read more

My boyfriend is a burger connoisseur and has spoke highly of the kobe beef so when I suggested this place for dinner, he was more than willing to try. We both got a kobe burger and fries (totaled ~$40) and were not disappointed at all. The hand cut fries were yummy and fresh, there was not a single soggy fry. The burgers were juicy and flavorful. I was pleased for my first time. Their house sauce is a little watery but still yummy. Only thing we would add would be grey poupon. Overall satisfied. read more

I recently had the chance to stop in and try out Project Burger, I was not disappointed! A friend of mine had been raving about how good the burgers were for a couple weeks and I finally had to give it a shot. Though it was not busy and still looks like it's former burger shell(Burgermeister) it's not! Hassam, who I assume is the manager/owner was very nice and sociable, along with informative on the menu choices. I chose the black and blue, hoping for the best. While waiting I had a drink at the bar(Long Island iced tea) it was made by Hassam, and it was delicious.. not over powering but just right. The burger was brought out where I had planned to take it to go but forgot to mention that while ordering.. it looked so damn good I decided to eat it right there.. It was incredibly good! I was impressed that the black and blue burger lived up to the name. It had the perfect amount of savory bacon taste but didn't take away from the burger itself, the lettuce(not romaine) and tomato, along with the gooey cheese and just the right amount of grease made for a mouth bombing sensation. I kid you not! It was cooked medium rare, not rare, not medium, but just right, now I asked for it and should expect it. The quality of the meat was grade A, you can taste it in the grease flavoring, it wasn't some cheap patty. It is and was the real deal. I had the burger down in 5 mins or less, I couldn't stop biting and chewing.. all the while knowing I was eating it faster than desired and soon the delicious sensation would be over, all too soon. I didn't care.. I came back with a friend before closing and ordered another one, black and blue and even tried a bit of my friends who had a wasabi burger, which was freaking just delicious! If you haven't checked this place out, you should! I work with meats for a living and I was impressed.. just typing this makes me want to run over and try a different burger from Project Burger. You won't be disappointed! I hope this place does well because it's definitely the best burger on the island, thus far. (15yrs Alameda/BayArea) Feed your soul and have a drink while you're there. **photos are from the first and second time eating in the same day/evening*** read more
