I called Progressive Vision and told them I was under this plan and confirmed they were participants before making my appointment. On the given day I took time from work to go to my appointment. They immediately gave me a form to sign saying there would be a charge. When I inquired about how much they were vague, until pressed they told me $195! This is supposed to be a $0 copay. When I called Blue View I was informed that in situations where a person's exam requires special needs (I do not) the most the provider can charge is a $40 copay. I walked out without getting the exam and found another reputable local business. This provider is gouging consumers. Beware. read more

Came here for an exam and to get some glasses and the experience was very 50/50. The woman behind the check-in desk wasn't rude, but wasn't quite polite. The doctor was fantastic. Got the exam one quickly, explained the entire process to me and why my vision was the way it was. When I picked out my glasses, the gentleman helping gave me the space to try tons of different pairs, ask questions when needed, and never pressured me to hurry. My frames came in a week after ordering. Why I am giving three stars: Since then, I have contacted them on two different occasions to have them e-mail me a copy of my prescription for my records. On both occasions, I never received the e-mail. I followed-up with a call after the second time and a day having gone by, they said they "hadn't gotten to it yet". It shouldn't take a day to e-mail a copy of a prescription and I shouldn't have to chase it down. The doctors are wonderful but the customer service of the front desk/office staff is severely lacking. read more

Got an appointment and gave my insurance info. The day of the exam showed my insurance card to two different people. Once the exam was done and I learned I indeed needed glasses I was told to go to the front and choose my frame. i asked if I could learn about my insurance benefits and the prices of the frames before choosing anything. Then and only then they said:" we only accept you insurance for the exam , not for the frames or the lenses " but you can choose from the plastic bin....and with your prescription it won't be that bad". The person who answered the phone was mistaken" I asked how much did I owe so far and left with my prescription to Cohen's where they treated me super nice and where my insurance was accepted as told over the phone read more

I find it very difficult to understand how some rate this shop less than 5 stars. For an honest and informative review, please read the below. My fiance and I have been going to Progressivision for four years now and we love everyone in the shop. Some of the poor reviews can't even get the names of the staff right so we'll just attribute that to ignorance. Gina and Dania are absolutely wonderful! They bend over backwards to accommodate their customers and I'd definitely classify them as women I'd love to hang out with. Rich is beyond knowledgeable, always friendly and has made sure all my glasses are fitted perfectly! The office was recently redone and has a very modern and chic feel to it. Also, they just celebrated their 30 year anniversary in June, safe to say some things are being done right. Great selection of frames that would make anyone happy. Dr. Nemser is a very nice guy! When you first meet him, he is a bit quiet and some may even feel his bedside manner is off, but let me be the first one to tell you that has definitely improved ten fold. It makes me sad to see numerous poor reviews on yelp and google when our experience has been nothing but wonderful. Let's clear the air on a few things here. 1. They have Saturday hours which is absolutely amazing. 2. Gina and Dania (not Diana) are friendly and outgoing people with amazing personalities. They have both done everything they can to be flexible and beyond helpful. 3. Dr. Nemser is a bit shy when you meet him, but conversation goes a long way people! 4. Rich is knowledgeable, very accommodating and always friendly when we see him. Do yourself a favor and disregard all of the bad reviews here and see for yourself. I have been going here for 3 years and the place has been average (3 stars) at best for that time. I continued to go because it was very close to work. However, I've had enough of their totally lacking customer service. I ran out of contacts while traveling so I ordered 1 box for each eye from 1800Contacts. The doctor would not approve the order because my prescription had ran out 3 days prior to my order. 3 days!! Not to mention that this was a 1 year prescription (not 2). And, I had the reminder card (that arrived only 1 week prior) on my desk to schedule an appointment as soon as I got back in town. In 3 years of spending hundreds/thousands of dollars with them (I always order glasses and a year supply of contacts with them), they have never once called to follow up or called to schedule my appointment. I don't mind being responsible for my own healthcare reminders but ALL of my other providers call with reminders and to schedule appointments when the time comes. It's called minimal customer service. I have had no problems with the doctor but I will not give my business to such shady practices - they were clearly just trying to have me order contacts through them (which I usually do, despite their being 1.5x to 2.0x the costs WITH insurance versus no insurance price at 1800Contacts as I like supporting local business). Healthcare is 100% a service industry and there is too much competition from other doctors to have practices like this. read more

I've been going to Progressivision for as long as I can remember and have recommended this place to every friend, family member, and colleague. There are 2 doctors here with 2 vastly different personalities. Dr. Rayher's appointments almost feel like a meeting with a friend while Dr. Nemser is more direct and to the point. I prefer Dr. Nemser because I'm a fan of people being as direct as possible with me. I'm confident either Doctor will give me the best care and are knowledgable of all the latest procedures and equipment and can compare the Scientific advancements made on the technology they use now versus what they started with over 20 years ago. The office staff is super friendly and all seem to have their own skill that makes them come together seamlessly as a team. Gina always helps me find the perfect frame for my face and Dania's on top of my appointments and contact orders. Sometimes I fall asleep in my glasses and go directly to Rich so he can straighten me out. All in all, I know I'm in very good hands every time I'm here. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Rayher's for many years, and I have always been pleased with the quality of care, and service delivery provided by Dr. Rayher, and his staff. Two weeks prior to Christmas, I suffered an eye injury. To say that I was traumatized by this injury, would be a gross understatement. From the moment that I spoke with Gina to schedule an emergency appointment, during the eye surgery, and throughout the follow-up care I felt completely at ease because I knew that I was receiving "TOP SHELF" service. I had an appointment with DR. NEMSER. As a new patient, I wish I would have looked him up before having an eye exam from him. He was rude, was upset when I read the wrong line, rushed through the appointment when I was the only patient in the office. It was clear he did not want to be there. I wish I would have simply walked out. He has no people-friendly skills. I advise anyone who can to avoid making an appointment with this man. It's clear he doesn't even care about having patients. It's unfair to people who are looking for a great eye doctor. Definitely, don't take your kids to see him. If he is this way with an adult, can't imagine how much lack of patience he must have for kids! I hope no one ever has to experience what I did at progressivision. I had the worst eye appt. here. Dr. Geoffrey Nemser literally made me cry. He has absolutely zero bedside manner and was downright rude. He had offended me and made me cry in the first 5 minutes of the appt. Acted like he had a million patients waiting and accused me that all my vision problems were entirely my fault. The receptionsts, who were wonderful, upon seeing me crying, asked what was wrong and informed me that this is not the first time it has happened. They have another doctor at the place, who, IF I go back, I will try, but I DO NOT recommend that anyone go see Dr. Nemser. Just awful. read more

Avoid at all costs. The other Yelpers have hit the nail on the head: ZERO customer service skills. I have been going here for 20 years and the main reason was because of the nostalgia. Well, we all know nostalgia does not equate to great service. After dealing with the reception staff here, it's a wonder that anyone is even able to make an appointment. After 20 years, the equipment and materials have NEVER been updated. When I asked to purchase a new pair of glasses, instead of getting my order processed they told me that my glasses were just a little scratched and handed them back to me (I've had them for 7 years o...O ). They do not accommodate you at all; instead of providing sample contacts, the receptionist refused (even though they regularly provide a variety of samples to choose from), instructed me to leave the premises and take my business elsewhere. When I reminded her that I had been a dedicated, consistent customer for many years, as well as my entire family, and didn't deserve this treatment, she told me that she didn't care (word of mouth anyone?). A business that doesn't care about an entire family of customers, isn't a business that I would ever want my Yelp friends to be exposed to. Came here because I could not get an appointment with my regular optometrist near year end. Receptionists were very nice but I felt I was in a bit of a time warp.The equipment is dated and could have been cleaner. The furniture is a drab but these things are minor. On more critical matters, Dr. Rayher was very professional and clearly knows what he is doing. He takes a measured and practical approach. He also seems to be a nice guy. There is a good selection of frames and the person who helped me was very helpful. My only complaint about this place is the hours. I've been trying to pick up my glasses for a couple of weeks now with no success. They advertise that they are open until 3 p.m. on Saturdays. I've gone there on two consecutive Saturdays between 1 and 2 p.m. and they were closed early on both days. The first Saturday was due to snow so that's fine. The following week they closed early with no explanation. Just a handwritten sign on the door that they closed at 1:30. Even if there were no appointments, they have a retail business and should be open. Very frustrating. read more
