They're nice but not great optomitrists. I went for several years and last visit I was told not to worry about going bald. I wasn't and didn't ask about it. I have slight double vision after a concussion and they never diagnosed it, just thought I needed more precise prescription. Another place correctly diagnosed me on first visit. read more

We had such a great experience here! Frankie was fantastic--one of the nicest, most charismatic people you'll ever meet. My daughter has special migraine glasses, and he was able to move the lenses into another frame in just a couple of minutes. I also have a large selection of frames to choose from. I have gone here for years for my contact lenses. When I made an appointment this time,the woman who answered the phone told me if I had a refraction done in the last year, I would not need to have it done again to order my contacts. I would just need the regular exam. When I got there for my appointment, the women behind the desk said" the person who told me that was wrong" and they need to do a new refraction, as well as the exam. I asked to speak with the doctor about this. She spoke to him in the back and came back to me and said ," if you want to speak to him about this, you need to make an appointment." Went in to get lenses for a pair of frames purchased on line and use current Rx. Saw Frank V, who said he could put in lenses while I waited. Great, I said. Frank quoted me $450, then said he could do it for $250. I agreed. Come time to pay I handed him my debit card, he said no and wanted CASH. I said I'll write a check, he said no and again asked for CASH. I went to Chase ATM across street to get cash. I didn't get a receipt from Frank. The staff has no record of this service or my payment to Frank. He pocketed the $250. Stay away. I was scammed. After reporting this to staff, I received phone calls at my home. I have not had an eye exam in more time than I'd like to admit. I found Dr. Maiolo through a recommendation of a close friend. The office staff was kind and wonderful. Dr. Maiolo really broke everything down wonderfully for me in terms I could understand. He also answered any questions and concerns I had at the time. I left feeling confident and with a plan of care for future and what I should be cautious of for my eye condition. When I finished with the doctor, Aaron assisted me with fitting glasses after my exam. He was knowledgeable about quality and brand benefits. I am Beyond pleased with my new frames and contacts. Do yourself a favor and find a different ophthalmologist/optometrist. Dr. Maiolo will talk your ear off, and he won't listen to you. We live in an age where doctors need to listen to patients, and work with us to address our concerns. He's a know-it-all, and that doesn't work in this century. Stay far, far away from this practice!! At first blush, they seem very nice and professional, but the exam fees are way overpriced and when I tried to inquire I was given the run around. Dr. Maiola berated me for taking up his time with a billing question, but offered no alternative. In addition, I was referred to him for a specific issue, which he completely ignored and pressured me into options counter to the referral. I was so impressed with Dr Maiolo. He knew what he was talking about, gave me sound advice and saw things that other doctors haven't. The screening process was quick and painless and the best part is THEY DIDNT DILATE MY EYES! They have a machine that took a picture instead and he was able to show me what he was looking at. He also noticed that my previous prescription was not only wrong but never could have been right. My glasses were made quickly and they were cheaper than I was planning on spending and the best part was they didn't give me a headache. I also overheard that there were new people in the "office" and thank god after reading previous reviews. They were friendly and helpful and were able to explain my charges. I went in to book an appoitment the lady in the front desk an african american was so rude and unprofessional, it was like 5:20pm i walk inside i know it was time to closed all i needed from her was to say let me provide you a business card so you can scheduled appointment instead of saying we are closed and they still have 10minutes to that. read more

Really impressed! I'm a new patient to the practice. I woke up with pink eye can called because they are local and I've driven past. The staff who answered the phone and dealt with my intake and appt scheduling were so incredibly nice and concise. They got me an appointment with a 1/2 hour! I know this would not always be the case but it was great to know they had emergency time slots built in. Dr. Maiolo saw me and I am thoroughly impressed. Knowledgeable. Professional. Kind. I've been going here for my yearly eye exams for the last 5 years. Friendly staff, never any billing problems (in fact, the staff was very thorough in researching and communicating to me a change in my vision coverage), up-front about any extra fees not covered by insurance, and overall good care. I see Dr. Chin. He is very friendly and comprehensive. I really appreciate the fact that the practice does not pressure patients to purchase from their optical store. I always just get my prescription and go to Costco to buy my glasses. read more

Dr. Chin and the opticians are awesome and get 5 stars. The billing department and the front desk get 0 stars. Twice I was hit with fees I didn't expect. First time it happened I specifically asked before I left and they told me I was set. A week later I pick up my glasses and was told I owed $70. Second time no one thought to tell me that the service I went in for wasn't covered by my insurance and I expected to pay my copay and was charged an astronomical amount. Every doctor I've ever been to will tell you up front if your covered. The billing department here is a mess. Get a cost up front and hold on to your wallet. It's a shame as the doctors are awesome. The worst. Complete and total ripoff artists. The law states that the doctor can choose to write a 1-year prescription or a 2-year prescription. They absolutely refuse to write a 2-year prescription -- even though my insurance only covers office visits every other year. They obviously just want to juice the patient every year -- even if the patient has to pay 100% out of pocket. I told them that I could not afford to pay them for unnecessary visits and would have to change doctors if they stuck with their policy. They made no attempt to work with me or to keep me as a patient. in fact, the receptionist just yelled at me and hung up. Poor business to say the least. Obviously, I'm not paying out of pocket to go to a greedy, inflexible doctor with dingy offices and an unpleasant receptionist. read more

I was very unhappy with the quality of the glasses I ordered. Three times the glasses came in with significant defects (unpolished edges, scratched lens and different surface finish in each lens). After two months I tried to cancel my order but the owner refused. I have since disputed the charge on my credit card. read more

Consumer's Original Complaint : Date of routine eye exam 12/10/12. Received billing within 3 weeks stating I owed full amount and insurance covered basically $12. I had to spend countless hours communicating with their terrible billing dept over a 4 month time span and even after conformation from my insurance carrier that they were paid (once Alex coded it properly), I still to this day get phone calls from their office harrrassing me to pay them for the routine eye exam which should be covered by my insurance. Dr Miolo is good. But the office is horrible. They don't keep good records at all. Very disorganized. I would not recommend this office. Also, their glasses are way over the top costly to cover their expenses. Go to 1-800-Contacts for your lenses and order glasses on line for $50, done. I'm looking elsewhere to get a prescription. Also, they won't give you your prescription as a means of control to get you to go back there... so they make it difficult to call 1-800-contacts for spare lenses.. My feeling is 1-800-CONTACTS is awesome but they do require a prescription. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND STAMFORD VISION CARE, NO WAY. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I am not one to write a review. In fact, this may be the first review I have ever written. The admin / billing dept. is by far the worst I have ever dealt with. There is no transparency in the billing and fees seem to creep out of no where (and this is coming from someone who was a client for 6 years and for some reason was too lazy to switch). One of the admin's made a "mistake" when doing my insurance pre-check after I notified them I had changed insurance and just checked first and last name and not birthday (because no way two people could have the same name). I got a call days after my appointment doubling my bill. Next thing I know my account is in collections for something that was their mistake... The admin are not friendly, the office is dumpy, the doctors are average and spend 2 minutes with you and the technology is outdated. There are so many better options available in the area. I would avoid this place at all costs. read more

The doctors are OK, but the service especially the receptionists are horrible. They answer the phone rudely, don't mind to care who you are. I've been there twice because I trusted the doctors, but now I have to find a new place since I can no longer stand the service. I wonder why I have to suffer with their rudeness. The billing department is a mess. The front of the house service is fantastic, but when you get the bill, you will wish you had gone any other place. First, I was sent a bill with one charge for a date of service. Then I got a bill for a different amount. After I offered to negotiate, a bill that was more than twice the amount of the latest bill was sent to collections. I have been unable to get an answer from Stamford Vision Care as to how a bill that was more than twice my original charge has been sent to collections. The billing department ruined my experience here. They are not transparent, they change the story, they lie (they told me it is illegal for them to write off part of the balance - NOT TRUE), they balance bill ridiculous fees, and then refuse to negotiate. Very friendly, but completely incompetent. Prescribed me a pair of reading glasses that require me to be 8 inches or closer to the computer screen! Unusable. Now I have to take MORE time off work to go back, complain, get new lenses, pick up new lenses, etc, etc. In the year 2012, it shouldn't be this hard to get a decent eyeglass prescription. read more
