I'd like to preface this review with how WONDERFUL Dr Sherwood is. For that reason I am giving this practice 4 stars. If I were reviewing on the practice as a whole, I'd give it 2 stars. The staff is subpar, mostly because it is quite evident patients are just walking bodies in the halls where they stand around. They are not friendly and they clearly don't care. Patients might as well be rolling robots. Expect long wait times for appointments which would really not be THAT bad except, unlike every other Dr's office, they do not offer Wifi so at least you can get something done waiting all that time. read more

I've been a patient of Stamford Ophthalmology on and off since 2015. The physicians and clinical staff have always been outstanding, which is why I turned to them for my cataract surgery in late 2024. The medical care deserves five stars. Unfortunately, my experience with the billing office has been the exact opposite. On March 5, 2026--more than a year after my October and December 2024 surgeries--I received a voicemail saying, "I think we have an old address. We tried to send you a bill and the PO returned it." I returned the call immediately, provided my current address, and asked for an account statement showing exactly what I owed and why. Instead, I received a confusing printout that did not answer my questions. I never received a proper bill at my updated address. When I later called to follow up, the first employee told me only that my account was "closed" and that I would have to pay to have it reopened. He could not explain what that meant or answer basic questions, so he transferred me to the office manager. After a lengthy hold, Stacey repeatedly interrupted me as I tried to explain the situation, became increasingly hostile, raised her voice, and ultimately hung up on me. The only useful information I received was that the account had already been turned over to collections. What is so frustrating is that I was trying to get clarify and pay the bill. As soon as I learned there was an outstanding balance, I called back, updated my address, and asked for documentation explaining the charges. Rather than receiving a clear bill and an opportunity to resolve the matter, I learned only weeks later that it had been sent to collections. I paid it today and will never return, nor will my partner. read more

STAY AWAY! Horrible staff and billing department. Laughed at me and hung up when I inquired about a service that was not performed. In addition, the routine exam took 2 1/2 hours. It's a shame, because the doctor is great. Unfortunately, her rude and unprofessional staff is not a reflection of this. Judging by other reviews on here, I'm not the only patient who feels this way. I will be looking elsewhere for a practice that treats their patients with respect and kindness. read more

The billing department is a complete mess, but the worst thing was the office manager. She must be related to someone in the office, because she both screamed at and then hung up on me when I called for the fourth time to resolve a billing issue. (The billing office kept insisting that she would be calling me back because their hands were tied, but after two weeks I hadn't heard from her so I finally reached her when a front desk person put me through - she was caught unawares and definitely did not like it.) I thought the doctor was just fine but due to the huge billed issue I had and then the horrible behavior of the office manager I won't be returning. read more

My family has been patients of a several different doctors at Stamford Ophthalmology. Each doctor has been very good. My physician is Dr. Lauren Schneider who I have been seeing for a few years. She is extremely competent, professional, caring, patient and explains everything. I highly recommend this practice. read more

I have been going to this place for a regular exam once every two years. Last year I waited in the room for an hour .This year I waited for 1 hour and 18 min and I walked out, asking the office to not charge me because I waited more than normal waiting time. Next thing I know, their manager called me the next day and said " the doctor, Dr. Vietorisz, is saying that you waited only 45 min, and you were rude for walking out". No apology, plain assault and gaslighting. I would never go back or recommend them! read more

Never again, I went in knowing, an going to pay $45.00 co pay. Not at the desk 3 min. Clerk explaining a $65.00 cig for this test, $75.00 for another. I told her, I want a basic eye exam, an will pay my copay of $45.00. Assistant was pleasant, told her I'm aware that I have Cataracts, told that by my neurologist. Dr. was pushey, I asked her, is this an Emergency, she said No. Gave me a flyer of her team member who does Surgery, I told her, I will have a second opinion, somewhere else.I did, I was told if eyesight interferes with daily, seeing, TV, etc, that is when Surgery is encoraged. I told him, I wear reading glasses for close up.... Reading an Computer, my distance seeing is fine!!!!! I left Green which Optomology, feeling like they wanted to MILK my insurance. United Healtcare!!!! I'm intelligent enough to know if my eyes are blurry, an I had issues in seeing on a daily basis, of course, I would look into Surgery, an triple chk that first!!!!!!! read more

I love this practice. I've treated with Dr. Pribis and Dr. Schneider, but my family and friends have treated with most of the other doctors there as well. In short, they make you feel like you have a really caring, very competent, expert specialist family member who is taking care of you. Everything is very clean and very professional, but it isn't a cold practice where you feel like the doctors are just doing their jobs. Here, you feel like you are special, regardless of which doctor you are seeing. Finally, since a lot of a patient's time is spent with the non-doctors, I have to compliment them on their hiring. Their staff and assistants, whether the billing people or the people who do the tests before you see the doctor, are great - friendly and very helpful with everything. I wish all of my doctors' offices were like this! read more

I had my first annual eye exam with Dr. Pribis. The safety protocol at the office was exceptional. The staff was friendly and professional. The technician responsible for initial screening was pleasant and knowledgeable. The examination with Dr. Pribis went smoothly. She took her time with me and was open to all my questions. Very nice bedside manner. I was taken care of in a timely manner. I have recommended her to my husband and he will be making an appointment shortly. I would definitely schedule an early appointment as by the time I left it was getting busy. EC read more

Had a great checkup with Dr. Pribis of Stamford Opthamology today. All COVID safety protocols are followed. Everyone, starting with the gentleman who took my temperature at the door, the receptionist (I think her name is Amaya) and Angela, the person who did the initial testing were professional and friendly. Dr Lauren Schneider and the Stamford Ophthalmology practice deserve the highest praise. The office is kept to the safest standard of cleanliness; the staff is professional, efficient and friendly. But to me, the star is Dr. Lauren Schneider. Not only was she a wonderful surgeon for my cataract surgery but she proved to be an awesome diagnostician when I manifested a puzzling symptom. She suspected a rare disorder but sent me to the hospital for a full complement of tests. All the tests were negative for any problem and consultations with 2 neurologists and a cardiologist gave no answers either. I returned immediately to Dr. Schneider. She ordered a simple but unusual blood test to confirm her suspicion and was proved correct by the results. She then called a neurologist, the usual specialist in this matter, to arrange for him to see me. Since that appointment she has phoned me twice just to see how I am doing. I find that her concern (the condition continues to be so mild I take no medication) is beyond the usual one of doctor/patient. Her brilliance as a doctor and her humanity as a human being put her at the top of her profession. Anyone choosing her as their ophthalmologist would be in the best of hands. read more

Can not say enough good things about Dr. Vietorisz, or this practice. I was able to get a same-day appointment when I first started having trouble seeing two months ago, and have had several appointments and a surgery since then. Every visit I am treated courteously and professionally by all the staff - receptionist, technicians, and the doctor (maybe they got a new receptionist since the last review in 2014?). I have gotten in and out of the office in a timely manner each time. Your eyes are nothing to fool around with - don't settle for less than you deserve. I highly recommend this practice! read more

I was happy to get a timely appointment as a new patient. I arrived a few minutes early and I was able to start my exams prior to the scheduled appointment time. However, the notes that Dr. Wolf put on my record said (in quotes) that my vision was getting 'hazier' was inaccurate -- as I would not have said that. Also, I needed the results timely as part of a pre-job medical exam and it took several days and a reminder call for them to forward the information to my primary physician. read more

BEWARE.Do not use this practice. There is a constant turnover of "doctors". Never the same one there on annual visits. You will always wait at least 30 minutes after your appointment time to go inside. There is always an "emergency" they must deal with. Fact is they overbook the doctors and you will have to wait. If you have insurance beware. They will provide may services during your visit and then your insurance will notify you that they are not covered, so you will get a huge bill and you will be stuck paying. ALso, beware that most of the "doctors" are not as qualified as you think. They don't actually tell you that, you'll find out by mistake. Kind of like going to one step above a nurse practitioner. So many other repuatble practice, don't risk going here. Crooks in it for the insurance$$$$ read more
