HOW TO LOSE A HIGH KPI CUSTOMER IN 5 SECONDS: Hostile staff and dismissive management. Because this location is right by my apartment I walked in fully prepared to purchase a pair of glasses out-of-pocket. I wasn't even in the store for five seconds before realizing how unprofessional the staff is. Upon arrival, the front desk associate was busy working with her back turned. Before she even had the chance to turn around and greet me a woman in a white medical coat made a visibly irritated face at me for simply standing there. She then barked "Can I help you?" with an unprovoked/hostile tone. Refusing to waste my time or give my money to people who treat potential clients like a nuisance I turned right around and left. Hoping to address the behavior, I called to speak with the practice manager-who turned out to be the same associate who was working at the front desk. Instead of addressing her colleague's blatantly bad attitude her excuse was that she "didn't see much" as her back was turned followed by a patronizing "I'm so sorry you feel that way." Free advice for the practice manager: Telling a customer "sorry you feel that way" isn't de-escalation; it's a lazy brush off and a refusal to take responsibility for how customers are treated. You lost an easy sale today and I'll be taking my business to a practice that actually understands basic customer service. Save yourself the frustration and go literally anywhere else read more

My family have been patients for many years at this Pearle Vision location. We have always been pleased with the courteous and professional service rendered by Chris the manager and Barbara from the frames department. Although we are saddened by the recent retirement of Dr. Sam Eisner, who as another reviewer called, "the best optometrist around" (and we agree!!!), we still are treated like family by the entire staff. I left a pair of heirloom, rimless eyeglasses that belonged to my Great-Grandfather, with the hope that Pearl Vision would install my own prescription in them...I dropped them off and authorized the work on October 10th. After much back and forth I was informed that my frames were broken and "perhaps a jeweler could fix them"....There was NO conversation about compensation for the loss of a family heirloom...After more back and forth, I finally received my broken frames and a check for the lenses ONLY....This happened almost TWO months later!!! Dr Sam Eisner is the best optometrist around!!!! Unfortunately he has since retired but everyone else is still there and amazing ! Chris is the best front desk receptionist so sweet and kind! Barbara is one of the best sales techs I've ever known just so positive and sweet ! The new owner is amazing and nice ! Been going here since I was little . Even though dr Eisner is no longer there I will always go back k because my experiences have always been nothing short of amazing ! I am a 10-year customer of the brand; a 9-year customer of this location. The only reason this place got a 2 star is the fact that their front retail store consistently provided excellent service and quality care, while the optometry in the back was a total disaster! The optometry, as I later found out, was an independent franchise owned by its doctor, Dr. Eisner. Granted, if I had had this kind of awful experience much earlier on, I would not have gone back again. This time, I have officially decided to STOP going back only because I had a horrible experience with the receptionist, named Kris Saddler, who also happened to be the manager, and then the doctor/owner made no apology for the woman's behaviors. I was so appalled that I decided to call the Pearle Vision corporate number to file a complaint detailing Mrs. Saddler's lack of customer service, laziness, unfriendliness, and the FACT that she HUNG UP on me when I pointed out to her that she was being rude when I called back the next day about my insurance and billing questions. Words I can use to describe my experience with this woman: Rude, miserable, preferential treatments (I'm trying not to use the word that spells "rxxist," but I definitely saw that and felt that way), and unequivocally lacking in any training of proper customer service. I bet she would not have treated a mid-aged white woman the way she did with me. And, I've been in this country for nearly 15 years. I had never felt that way in any other stores/shops/restaurants. So I was completely appalled and stunned when I felt so strongly mistreated and something pointed to me that it was because of my non-white exterior. I have never encountered an owner who promoted and protected an employee who was so unprofessional and rude. The experience between the retail area and the optometry was so drastically different. And Pearle Vision's corporate could not do anything about it only because the optometry is a franchise! If the optometry were to be a separate identity and to open elsewhere with its own name, it would not be as busy as it is simply because it's not Pearle Vision! It's absurd that this woman was both a manager and a receptionist who clearly had gotten away with this type of bad behavior for as long as she worked there. According to Dr. Eisner when he tried to cover for her bad behaviors, she has been working there for decades! Well, that goes to show what kind of place they are. I wanted to write this review so that people are aware! I would never wish this experience upon anyone else! Reply: 8/23/2016 Following the rules was not a problem for me at all! The rudeness, bad language and poor treatments coming from you and Kris were the problem! When Kris asked me to leave rudely, I left quietly and immediately, didn't I? So, as an owner, you could continue to protect and enable Kris's behaviors or own up the fact that she was completely inappropriate. By the way, I know she was not just a technician. The manager at the retail part of this location is condescending and unprofessional. I believe her name is Kris S. She made me feel uncomfortable & ruined the whole experience. I noticed someone else complained about the same manager as well, I don't think it's a race thing. She's just naturally an unpleasant human being who takes her frustration out on the customers. You'd think after all those years with the company & being middle aged she would have learn how to speak to people. I hope they find a way to fire her... I don't expect top of the line customer service, I just don't appreciate being treated like complete garbage I loved everyone else at the location, especially the optometrist. Been going here for ages. Always nice to see the Doctor, he's very friendly and kind. The glasses in the front of the store are WAY overpriced however, so I recommend taking your prescription to another location to get the glasses themselves, like Costco. read more

I've been going here for about 15 years and real like Dr. Eisner. The problem is there prices on glasses and lenses. You would think with insurance the price would be better, but it's not. My insurance is EyeMed. Do you know who owns EyeMed and Pearle Vision? It's an Italian company called Luxottica. Look that name up and you'll see all the other vision and insurance companies they own. They set the price very high because there is hardly any competition! 60 minutes had a special on Luxottica and its shady! If you price shop at a store that they don't own ( Costco / Walmart), you'll see the price at least 2/3 less! I ordered 2 pair of glasses for $900.00 that they won't refund or discount it more to get the price down. This is from there web site "Our guarantee If for any reason you aren't 100% satisfied with your eyewear purchase, you can return it. Bring the merchandise back in its original condition within 30 days of your purchase and we'll make things right." I could get them from Costco for $300.00! This is a big difference in price. It's called price fixing! This is the last time I go to Pearle Vision! read more

Background: I am extremely picky about glasses. I will happily spend hours in the store meticulously scrutinizing every pair if that's what it takes to find one that satisfies me (and trust me, this has actually happened). The first time I bought a pair of glasses, I went to Lenscrafters in the mall, and though the sales associate was fairly nice and helpful, I felt as though his main goal was to get me in and out of there as quickly as possible. That's not the case at Pearle Vision. I've been a loyal fan for years now. The owner and the employees really put the customer first. They'll patiently help you find the best frame for you, no matter how long it takes, and they'll give you their honest opinions instead of just flattery. They understand that for some people, glasses are an treasured accessory that can be used to enhance your look or make a statement, not just a utilitarian tool or a dorky impediment to looking good (judging by their own glasses, this seems to be their own personal philosophy). Excellent service. My wife was able to get a walk-in eye exam without an issue (after failing to do so at Cohen's and Lens Crafters - even though the doctor was there, and available for a simple 5-min exam). It's a little pricy, but customer service is really great. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Eisner and Pearle Vision for more than 20 years. All of the staff - including Chris the receptionist and Barbara in the front - have always been most pleasant, extremely patient, and very accommodating even when I need to change appointment times with very little notice. I have referred many family and friends to them, and have trusted my children's eye care to them. They only reason I withhold one star is that the glasses do seem to be quite a bit more expensive than other options - although I do keep buying from them, because the staff is so great! read more
