I am well pleased with my eye care here. The office space is great; it's on the first floor near the west side of the building and conveniently located. During my exam, I could hear the doctors next door talking to their patient... but that was really the only criticism I had! They had so many machines I hadn't seen before and some traditional technology I'm used to. No need for dilation either! They spared no exam for my eye health. The cost was very reasonable! I get eye exams yearly and they went above and beyond most other places I have been. I don't have vision insurance by choice, and they happily gave me a lens prescription and measured my PD as well without giving me the run around. They also helped me with the possibility of contacts and even tried some on, which I just couldn't tolerate but haven't completely written off due to the amazing staff. The glasses here are pricy; However, you're paying for a service that other places wouldn't do for you. I would've gone to Costco or somewhere less expensive but the staff's amazing customer service is worth the extra cost. I had new piercings on my ear cartilage that were being snagged by my old glasses; Athena sat with me and found me some frames that would work with my piercings and I bought two pairs! I didn't even know the frame's legs mattered so much. She even went above and beyond and adjusted my existing pair and fixed and adjusted my old favorite pair that I bought elsewhere to be more comfortable while I waited for my pairs to come in. She took her time to help me and you can absolutely tell how much she loves what she does and is willing to help you however you need it. She requested a rush for me as well for free and I really appreciate the willingness to help! The staff is gold and they joke around and appear happy to be there so I'm recommending everyone to this place! read more

I ordered my glasses two months ago and still have not received them. I called and was told i would get a call right back or text with details on what's going on. I never received a call. I called back left a message, never received a call back. I could have gotten some sort of follow up. It is a big in convenience that I have had to wait so long to get my glasses. read more

The technician and the doctor I saw were wonderful However when it got to the glasses I had my own frames wanted lenses only I was told like $250 and $165 And I was like cool 90$ after my insurance credit She tried to charge me 580$ ??? When I asked what for she started a line by line and I said you didn't tell me any of that before She had to ask a coworker for help which I don't usually mind and then manager person as well and I left without glasses and just a paper prescription Lesson just walk away and don't pay for what hasn't been explained I will go somewhere else for lenses or frames But the doctor and such were great read more

I've been going here since 2019 and have never had any issues! Even though we moved, I still make the 35 minute drive here for my appointments. When I ordered my contacts last year, they even gave me a coupon to use for partial reimbursement. I'll be coming back for the foreseeable future. read more

I'm seeing a few other folks refer to the EXACT same issues my family and I had. Shady billing practices doesn't even do it justice. They charge for things without telling you and when you question it, it is a "required" test, so they say. Shouldnt you tell the patient about the "required" test prior to performing it? Oh and then inform the patient that insurance doesn't cover it? Crazy logic right. Add to it, even when you give specific instructions towards frames, lenses, etc they basically ignore it and charge you for the extras anyways. Needless to say, we won't be going back. read more

The billing practices are beyond shady. I went in for an eye exam. I expected to pay a copay and when I was checking out was told I owed 88 dollars. I payed it--I expected 40, but didn't argue. A week later I was sent a text message telling me I owed 40 dollars for my copay. I advised I paid it in office. This gave me pause, and I pulled up the bill from the office visit. I was charged for 2 tests that insurance doesn't cover. I was never told--hey we want to do these tests but we know your insurance won't pay. It was passed off as part of the standard eye exam. Then they took that money FIRST. I thought I was handing my copay. Not the case. Pretty easy call we will not be using these guys moving forward. read more

Me and my mom came here to pick up glasses and we waited 15 minutes to be checked in plus there wasn't even anyone at the front? We had to ask for help honestly there service sucks the decor is ok it has a ok selection of glasses but the kids glasses? Nah there was like 20 pears and all of them are small or just uncomfortable overall I wouldn't recommend this place to family and friends. read more

*The customer does not always come first* I don't know what I was thinking when I decided to leave my current optometrist. I guess I just wanted something closer to home. I should have known to turn right around when I was walking through the divey hall and into their almost bare office. Everyone was really nice but I disliked that they didn't offer a huge selection. They severely lacked in communication and knowledge about the services and products they offered. The woman who shall not be named said that she was not knowledgeable about contacts because "She only wears glasses." I really don't think it matters what her preference is but she should be knowledgeable as hello... she works there and there are other people in this world beside my self that have questions as well. When I left the office I requested a pair of trial contacts. Simple. When I asked about my balance today I was told it was $200. I proceeded to ask what for and she stated it was for the contacts. I only ordered "trial pairs" to try not regular contacts. As I was going to use those for glasses because your insurance makes you have to choose either or. But although trial contacts was the verbiage used. I was told they do not make trial contacts and they ordered me regular contacts. Also I don't have the best vision so they don't make trial contacts for me. This is upsetting because I would have never ordered them if I would have known. Also very frustrating as a new patient. I did raise my voice and said a few unkind words after the receptionist kept interrupting and talking over me. I let her know however that I was not upset at her but at the situation. The Dr. however said he didn't appreciate it. I would have assumed that a professional Dr. would have said something more along the lines of "I am sorry, we apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.... and so forth." Never again. I would hope you read this and take my experience as a learning experience and go else where. read more

Horrible front office staff. Sadly, they've got one good doctor in the practice but you can never get to her and are stuck with the other one. Front office staff is always late. Could care less about the patients. If you want to feel like you're annoying someone and a bother to deal with, then definitely book an appointment. I scratched my eye and needed to visit an optometrist stat! I looked online for one nearby with the best reviews. Progressive eye care had amazing reviews so I gave them a call. The receptionist was so kind and knowledgeable. She got me in as soon as she could. When I arrived they quickly took me back and I met with the doctor. He was very kind and answered all my questions! I found Progressive Eye Care through a quick yelp search for orthokeratology lenses and I'm so glad I did. I was lucky enough to schedule an appointment after they moved to their new location in S River Heights. Very modern optometry office, super bright with updated technology! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by their sweet receptionist Cindy who walked me to my room and got me started on forms. Pauline came in to do a preliminary check on my eyes with really cool machines I've never seen before. Lastly, Dr. Chism came in to discuss my scans and answer all my questions on ortho-K lenses. There was no wait time at all and everyone was soooo nice. I am extremely impressed with everything about this office. The staff is so welcoming and friendly, and the doctor is transparent about costs and the ability to correct my vision. I'm confident I'll receive great treatment here and will definitely be recommending Progressive Eye Care to all my friends in the area. read more

From the moment I walked in the door, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The reasons that I chose to go to Progressive Eye Care were; first, they had Saturday appointments; second, the office is close to my home and finally, I read positive reviews of Dr. Broadhead. I was surprised when I saw Dr. Kinney instead, but after talking to him and having my exam, I felt he was an experienced professional and personable. I ordered glasses and they appear to be just the correction I need and fit well. My only negative experience was in the price of the glasses. I cannot believe they cost so much and I have eye care insurance. The cost of glasses seem to have risen tremendously in the last few years. If I wasn't lucky enough to have eye insurance, I don't think I could have afforded to buy them at Progressive Eye Care. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Broadhead for several years now. He is careful and thorough with his assessments, and doesn't quit until you're satisfied with your prescription. I've had problems with eye infections, a contact that got wedged in a corner where I couldn't remove it, and other issues that required urgent attention and his office staff was great to work me in to the schedule quickly. I was blown away at the friendliness of staff and extraordinary, above-and-beyond service I received from Dr. Chism. He uses the latest technology to make sure my eye-sight concerns were taken care of - we went through additional eye exam tests that I have never participated in, that were all covered in the eye exam cost. We discovered I had a vertical alignment issue between my eyes thanks to these additional tests. He was super thorough and made sure all of my questions (even the dumb ones) were answered and that I felt comfortable throughout the visit. The $$ was a little more than we had budgeted (we aren't covered by insurance), but they have multiple ways to help out. I'd definitely pay a little extra to see these guys than to go to a cheapo place and get cheapo service. read more
